True Blood Season 4 Tease...Because Waiting Sucks, #TBWithdrawal Sucks & Breaking Up Sucks [VIDEO] #trueblood

The folks at True Blood are giving us just a little more to feed our addiction--can't have anyone going through full withdrawal, right? SPOILERS:

The setting for True Blood Season 4 is being sketched out. As we saw in the previous promo 5 minutes ago yesterday, shortly after Sookie gets to the land of the Fae a/k/a Faery land she meets her 'dead' grandaddy, Earl Stackhouse--husband to Sookie's 'Gran'.

If you just read Charlaine Harris' latest Sookie Stackhouse installment you might be inclined to believe that [SPOILER] Earl is not Earl--rather he's the half-Faery 'Fintan', that Gran cheated on Earl with. At this point in the books which True Blood is ever-more loosely based on, neither you nor Sookie know this. As the TV show will probably continue to move away from the Sookie Stackhouse book series, it may be something entirely unique to True Blood going on.

Regardless, 'Earl' (played by Gary Cole) does not recognize Sookie as 'just last week' when last he saw her she was about 8 years old. Huh. Must be that time in Faery land and Human land don't quite jibe.

This teaser goes on to show trouble in Faery land--involving Sookie using her 'microwave fingers' and someone else getting zapped through the air, looking at a very rough landing.

Also included in this jam-packed 30 seconds Sookie, still dressed as she left with her SPOILER faery godmother Claudine many months ago, has returned and (significantly) is standing on her front porch listening to Eric tell her that 'everyone' who supposedly loved her 'gave up on her' whilst she was gone--including Bill, who based on the previous teasers as well as this one has been a very busy vampire.

We also get a cute shot of a pigtailed Sookie embracing Alcide (I'll bet he didn't give up on her!) and a new shot of Andy Bellefleur pulling a gun on Sam Merlotte in what appears to be Merlotte's parking lot. I smell a red herring.

We have Bill 'interacting' with a strawberry blond [SPOILER] witch who is disrobing and then exiting the room with bite marks on her neck. Sookie appears to witness the woman leaving, though it could just be how the teaser was edited. Sookie asks "What do you want from me," in a voiceover but we have no idea to whom she is speaking.

In addition to the new stuff there are more repeats of scenes that were already teased--the panthers munching on a trussed up Jason, Pam imparting words of wisdom upon Sookie, the Queen of Mississippi looking snarly, Bill looking mournful, Sookie in her little yellow beater of car getting grabbed through her open window by a man that looks very much like Eric.

Finally, in the most puzzling part of the tease, Eric, who has not gotten amnesia yet, tells Sookie that she is his. What I'm wondering is why he uses a threatening tone and facial expression, why Sookie looks apprehensive, and what is that 'thing' on Eric's throat?

Anyone have any ideas? We'll be playing this guessing game for the next month and for three months after that most likely, so feel free to drop me a comment!

True Blood Full 3 Minute Teaser:

Sookie (Anna Paquin) has completed her journey to faeryland. (Get used to the spelling. It is how the cool kids--as well as Charlaine Harris,  the author of the Sookie books and the American version of J.K. Rowling, spells it.)

Sookie is led to a super-cheesy-looking faeryland by her 'faery godmother', Claudine. Sookie expresses incredulity bordering on rudeness ('You suck.') when Claudine reveals her identity, though the full-blood faery seems not at all bothered by the comment (You're not dead are, you?').

Since True Blood is all about 'whoops, we got 'ya,' on the predictability scale, epecially important to keep Truebies riveted as  the books have long ago been published, the golden faeryland we see may be a cover for something...not so shiny.

Sookie herself has immediate suspicions when the other partygoers including  apparent newcomers like Sookie, seem to be getting high on ...fruit.

Sookie also bumps into Barry the bellboy from the  hotel upon which Godric, vampire Eric's maker 'met the sun.' Barry too, has a faery godmother--a guy.

As Barry and Sookie are left to 'mingle' by an apparently overworked Claudine, Sookie spots a man who we briefly see in a flashback of Sookie's childhood. She greets him,"Grandaddy Earl?" and he at first knows not who she is. After she identifies herself,  Earl Stackhouse (Gary Cole) is incredulous that he just saw her as a child 'last week.' Duh, duh, dun.

I'm hoping to get higher quality (larger copies) as soon as I can. These seem like a bunch of random shots just sort of fired off to tide us over the Memorial Day weekend. A number we've seen similar poses of the same shot--Sookie in the mustard-coloured sweater, Luna in Sam's office chair about to 'seduce' him, Jessica in this outfit looking happy as she does here. Eric, too...

Pam mic -clipped and dressed as a 'Desperate Housewife' for an interview is pretty hysterical. The vamps are obviously digging in, trying to regain all the ground they lost 'post-Russell Edgington.'

I love this one. I hope Alcide gets a crack at Sookie even if it is not until next year.

He runs hot. ;)

I can see these three-- a shifter and two witches paired in this poster since they are either blood-related or employment-related or both, as well. Nicely done shot. Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette) is super-smoldering, as always.

Too much Photoshop on this last one. Looks thrown together plus Jason has exactly no reason to be paired up with Pam and Jessica.

From the True Blood location shoot for Episode 4.10 - The World’s A Mess, It’s In My Kiss in L.A. on Wednesday (5.25), comes some fun shots of Ryan Kwanten. Kwanten plays the fantastically cut, dim-bulb brother of Sookie, 'Jason Stackhouse' on the hit HBO supernatural series (debuting June 26).

From the looks of the prep work going on (see various tubes and do-dads being shoved inside Kwanten's pants) there will be added  special effects/CGI as it appears that BLOOD will flow.

OK, Truebies, Fangbangers, Fangirls and Boys, hang on 'cos now is when the HBO/True Blood machine goes into super overdrive and stays that way through the season 4 premiere on June 26--and beyond.

The promo peeps at HBO must be gearing up for next weekend's Memorial Day hiatus 'cos they just dropped a flood of NEW True Blood Photos and videos--all at once.

Excitement for fans of the fang!:

Released today and here for your viewing pleasure are HQ photo stills from the first four episodes of True Blood Season 4!

Not only do we have some wicked awesome shots--some are of a small poster size--but we are presented with a slew of questions about the context of each photo!

For example, take a peek at fan fave & Eric's right hand & progeny, vampire 'Pam' (Kristen Bauer van Straten). Our Miss Pam has dumped her demure 'pretty in pink' look for a fangtastically fresh-blood-red ensemble.

What is going on here? Has Pam been tossed aside, landing on a large, worn braid rug on a tired-looking wood floor (albeit in a lady-like pose)? And are those bloody fangs I see--or just the sanguine hue of Pam's lipstick? If Pam has bitten someone, pray tell who?

So many questions and just a bit over a month until we start getting answers!

Thanks to the good folks that helm the Showtime site Weeds fans have a pretty good notion of what Nancy Botwin is up to and what her clan has been doing for the past three years--as she served time in prison(!) As season 7 gets underway, Nancy is on early release and if you don't want to be spoiled stop readng NOW.

Justin Kirk's character, 'Uncle" Andy Botwin, is the only adult cast member who doesn't have a spoiler-ish blurb about either what he's been doing for 3 years or what he plans to do once he reunites with Nancy in New York. Perhaps he's been busy running  the University of Andy?

EDIT 5.23.11/ Oops! I should try reading  my own posts! Previously, I noted along with where to see more revealing Mary-Louise shots, that the "Stevie' character was being recast! Yay! Now the question: where has little Stevie been for the past three years?/End Edit

Sadly, little Stevie Ray, Nancy's youngest son, who would be 3 or 4 years old now, is not even mentioned. I'm afraid he may be explained him away. He was so cute.

I've culled about 80 screencaps of this sneak peek which, true to True Blood form, cuts very quickly from scene to scene--so there's bound to be scenes you may have missed.

All-in-all looks quite tasty! And Bill looks super-sharp! (No pun!)...* New haircut. He's lost the Henley...great start.

*though Stephen Moyer looks every inch his 40-year-old self.

 

It seems the Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) from the end of season 1 is back, albeit in a much more sophisticated form.

 

SCREENCAPS!:

I do worry though that there is just going to be too much going on to fill 12 episodes. All of the supernaturals are getting involved this season: werewolves, shape-shifters, fairies, vampires of course, and then the plain ol' human...witches...who have supernatural powers. Are we going to spend more time in Hot Shot than Bon Temps?

I'm ready to be pleasantly surprised but I have a feeling that guest actors like the terrific Fiona Shaw are going to be getting too much screen time versus our series' regulars.

I have zero interest in 'Jesus' (Kevin Alejandro) though I love Nelsan Ellis as 'Lafayette.' but with Alejandro moved to featured player--they are gonna get screen time.

Same goes for Joe Manganiello getting featured player status this season.

I have real misgivings about Alcide as he seemed to get shoved aside last year and I don't feel like he's going to get any closer to Sookie this year, hence Joe Manganiello goes off on his own for a good chunk of season 4. I'm feeling like Alcide got saddled with a thankless role (as far as his place in the big story).

Because it has openly discussed and vividly shown in the sneak peeks, my thoughts are that having to endure watching Jason's misadventures in Hot Shot will be dismal. How much gnawing upon Sookie's brother are we gonna have to watch?--'cos if taking the lead from the book, it takes darn near forever to turn a human by biting them.

And seriously, do we need another season of angry Tara (Rutina Wesley)? That girl has had zero growth since the TV series began. Tara has almost no role in the Sookie Stackhouse book series and True Blood would have been better off to have followed the book in that respect. No offense toward any of the actors as I'm refering to how the television characters are written. They wouldn't be on this show if they were not good actors, but the material for several of them has not served them well.

By now you've watched Episode 8 of Nurse Jackie and know that drug-peddler-addictions counselor and epileptic 'Bill,' got mowed down by a truck as Jackie watched from just across the street. She had come to his high rise "with a doorman and gargoyles," he'd described it, because she had gotten 'desperate', which is also how dear, departed scumbag Bill calculatingly phrased it to the near-jonesing Jackie. The scene is very cleverly done (and gruesome!) and it foreshadows I think, the very last scene in the next episode (9),  'Have You Met Miss Jones?'

 

Synopsis: Nurse Jackie Episode 9: 'Have You Met Miss Jones?'

Out of pills and jonesing for a high, Jackie is confronted about the missing drugs from Oncology; Coop decides to start a family of his own and finds an old girlfriend on Facebook; Zoey reconsiders her relationship to Lenny after he's put on a heart monitor.

Good news! We can expect the casting news and hopefully, some storyline news to be pretty regularly forthcoming between now and when Dexter - Season 6 premieres on Showtime in September. Now that cast and crew are gearing up for production of 'one of the most acclaimed series on television' (source: SHO) I 'll be keeping my radar up for new stuff. Don't you agree that the actors that are starting to fill out the guest cast are pretty great-sounding and/or looking?!

 

Native Chicagoan and Off the Map actress Aimee Garcia, is joining the cast of Dexter as Jamie, the new nanny Dex hires to care for his son, Harrison. Jamie also happens to be the kid sis of Dex’s colleague Batista...duh ,duh, dun.

Previously:

Among the three recurring roles being cast are:| Jamie: Described as an outgoing and fun Latina in her mid-20s, this Florida native relocates to Miami for grad school.

Garcia will appear throughout the Showtime drama’s upcoming sixth season.

Production on Dexter‘s sixth season gets underway at month’s end — ahead of a likely September premiere — and TVLine has an early look at the new blood being brought in to fill the void left by Julia Stiles, Peter Weller and Co.

Among the three recurring roles being cast are…

| Jamie: Described as an outgoing and fun Latina in her mid-20s, this Florida native relocates to Miami for grad school.

| Chicago Mike: New thirtysomething African-American homicide detective who possesses a finely turned BS detector. The Windy City native does not play well with others.

| Louis: A buddy of Masuka’s (C.S. Lee) who joins MMP as a new lab intern. Role calls for a Caucasian actor in his 30s who is “attractive in his own way.”

Dexter - Season 6 'Going Back To The Roots'

It’s out with the new and in with the old as Dexter heads into its sixth season.

“Dexter this season will be in some ways a return to the Dexter that you’ve seen in the early seasons,” Showtime president David Nevins told TVLine at Thursday’s 4th Annual Television Academy Honors in Beverly Hills. “There’s a really interesting story and journey that he’s going to be on this year. There’s going to be some degree of getting back to his roots.”

And that includes putting the focus back on the sibling dynamic at the heart of the show. “There will be a microscope on the Deb/Dexter relationship this season,” Nevins revealed. “Over time you’re going to see that relationship evolve and change, no questions about it.”

Season 6 — production on which begins later this month ahead of a fall premiere — will be similar to Season 5 in at least one key way: Dexter won’t face off against a singular menace a la Trinity and the Ice Truck Killer. “It is not one big bad,” he confirmed. “There’s one interesting story that will move through the season, and it will be cast very interestingly, but it’s not exactly that one person.”

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has wondered how the dissolution of Michael C. Hall (Dexter) and Jennifer Carpenter's (Deb) marriage would affect DEXTER. To me, it sounds pretty ominous that the Deb/Dexter relationship is going to have 'a microscope on' it in season 6. The consensus has been for some time that Debra would find out about Dexter's 'moonlighting job,' and with her being such a by-the-book cop, she'd have a terrifically difficult time in deciding on his fate--if Dexter does not decide on Deb's fate first.

As one of Dexter's executive producers, Michael C. Hall certainly will have input as to how they will work out the logistics of a real-life divorcing (divorced?) couple working as co-stars on the still-hugely popular premium cable show.

There has been a number of loose-lipped anonymous cast and/or crew who upon Dexter's season 5 conclusion, told of a very tense set and worse, of Carpenter bad-mouthing her husband to anyone within earshot. This bodes ill for the character of Debra which makes me sort of wistful as besides  the Dexter-Dark Passenger relationship,' the Deb & Dexter relationship has been the most satisfying on the show.

I'm going to bet on the easy way out. Debra has to die because Jennifer Carpenter needs to go--if there is to be a season 7. I'm leaning toward guessing too that 6 seasons and a bout with cancer is enough for Michael C. Hall and that season 6 Dexter is where the show concludes.

Mos Def has finalized a deal for a multi-episode arc on the sixth season of Dexter, according to sources.

The actor and hip hop artist will play a hardened ex-con who claims to have found religion yet seems to continually find himself surrounded by violence. Michael C. Hall’s Dexter will reveal the truth of who he really is.

Here's the official Warner Bros. clip of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2" NEW TV Spot (5.13.11). I could have sworn that we'd already had a 'TV spot No. 1' but perhaps with all the hash-tagging something got lost in the translation. This does have some new dialogue. It's hard for me to tell sometimes just what part of the endless battle that is Deathly Hallows Pt. 2, our heroes as well as the big bads, are engaged in.

It's time for Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) to grow up and embrace his destiny. The Chosen One is done hiding behind his friends and mentors and in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, his fate meets his future. He's learned everything there is to know, and Harry Potter is now ready to do what he was born to do -- destroy Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes)! In this new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 TV spot, Potter isn't the only one getting in on the action. One thing you must have noticed about the last two True Blood Season 4 trailer teasers from HBO, is that unless they are pausing a beat for dramatic effect, the video images are moving really, really fast.

So what did you see in the 'True Blood: Season 4 - Witches vs. Vampires' trailer tease that I saw the first time just prior to 'Game of Thrones' on HBO on Sunday night?

I saw Portia Bellefleur (Andy's sister) making whoopee with Vampire Bill. I last saw Courtney Ford, who is playing  a very different-from-the-book Portia, on Dexter as the Trinity killer's psycho daughter and she was really good.

We finally see that Jason (Ryan Kwanten) has good reason to scream---he's being chewed on by a panther. I really hated that sequence in the book and truly did not want to watch it on the show. I'm squeamish about torture scenes, period. For people who dig that stuff I can tell you, it is a gruesome set of scenes. "No good deed goes unpunished," indeed.

We see more of Alexander Skarsgård's (Eric's) abs. :D

Lafayette doesn't yet appreciate the power of the witchcraft he's getting involved in, naively wondering where they would get a dead person to 'raise.'

It seems we know or at least have a working notion as to how Eric came to be bewitched and lose his memory. Some witches can control the dead. He looks like he's making an enemy of powerful witch 'Marnie/Hallow Stonebrook' (Fiona Shaw) by biting her so anything that happens following that makes sense in terms of 'he had it coming.'

Pam (Kristen Bauer van Straten) is on speaking terms with Sookie. Probably a good thing.

Tara (Rutina Wesley) is very upset about something. Go figure. ;)

Finally, I predict that 'Bon Temps Bill' a/k/a Vampire Bill is gone for good. After spiking his hair and putting on guyliner, not to mention the black nailpolish he's sporting, it appears unlikely that our dear Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) will go back to his 18th Century fashion sense.

These two, Eve Best as ER 'Chief O'Hara' and Paul Schulze as 'Eddie' are an unlikely pairing yet they have in common a deep attachment with/to Jackie (Edie Falco). Which sort of seems a starting point.

What 'role' does Jackie fill so well that both these characters chose to protect Jackie from the consequences of facing her painkiller addiction or in Eddie's case, enable Jackie's addiction?

Looks as if O'Hara may soon step into that role. We'll see. It just seems Eddie is still hurt enough by Jackie now refusing to be intimate with him that he's not going to dispense free drugs for Jackie, like he used to.

O'Hara OTOH,  is best friends with Jackie as well as a close colleagues. She desperately want to help Jackie to sobriety...but what will be the cost to their friendship?

Nurse Jackie - Episode 8: 'The Astonishing' Promo

I thought this episode was so awesome that I couldn't wait to watch Episode 9 (so I did. I have a screener--but I'd been watching along with the televised schedule, mostly). Truly, the ending is going to keep you wondering all week what is next for Jackie.

Small Nurse Jackie Spoiler Ahead:

When Episode 9 airs you will not be disappointed. It is every bit as mind-blowing as this episode leads you to anticipate.

So much seems different this year on Nurse Jackie because a lot has changed for the Edie Falco character, Jackie Peyton.

There have been times when watching the pardon me, crazy shit that Jackie does, that I've wondered if she's truly lost it and won't get it back. But so far these 3 seasons she has kept going, if only by the skin of her teeth.

It seems now more than ever that the end is closing in on Jackie, the end of her charade of not believing herself an addict.

I think it is going to get more intense, then the last episodes of the season will just go 'boom'. I'm pretty sure I've guessed part of the end. There are ominous hints about it in episode 8. At this point I'm wondering how the hell it is gonna happen and seem believable. It is that off-the wall-sounding!

We shall see!

Here's a new promo for True Blood Season 4-- just in time for Friday the 13th. I've screencapped the whole thing--I don't think I missed anything important. One cliffhanger is answered in a way I hadn't even considered but it makes good sense logically. (Spoiler - scroll down)

 

SPOILER:

The outcome of the Queen Sophie-Anne and Bill Compton fight seems as if there is no fight! Apparently, their scene picks up where we left off at the end of season 3. Before the Queen can get her claws fangs into Bill--he exits at vampire super-speed!

(Brief interjection: I hereby request that anyone of the caliber of E!Online for example, read the book upon which each season is based. This at most will take a couple of hours each year and I guarantee it will help you to not sound like a dumbass when you breathlessly report that Sookie and Eric might be getting together in Season 4!)

So, what else have we got here?

It appears that a cocky, not-yet-afflicted-by-amnesia Eric walks in on a coven of witches.

Someone or thing attacks Pam in Eric's dungeon with what looks like a silver chain and she tosses said person or thing across the room. Go Pam! Downside: The attacker is black, probably a black man--can't imagine Lafayette trying that but it would be so ironic if he again faced consequences in Eric's dungeon!

We are already getting repeats of what we have already seen in previous season 4 teasers without hardly anything added to enhance the scene.

Example: Jason is tied down to a cot, shirtless, wounded and shrieking in pain.

Sam and Luna are kissing.

Sookie finds a shirtless, amnesiac Eric at the side of the road. OK. Something new happens. She hits him in the face (a 'snap out of it' gesture?)

...who casting news told us is Alexandra Breckenridge, True Blood's 'Daisy,' a 'member of a wiccan group founded by Marnie.' In this scene, Bill is about to drop fang and seize Daisy by the throat. Yikes!

Bill has a funny hairdo (I think he is 'undercover'). IMO, no matter whose 'team' you are on, you gotta love the mad acting skillz Stephen Moyer brings!

Alcide is growling which annoys Sookie. (Sookie can be such a priss sometimes!)

Me, I get annoyed by extremely fake-looking background scenery. I'd be more than fine with Mr. 12-pack doing his growly thing.

Both the heroes and anti-heroes of True Blood are going to have TROUBLE when they return to our screens on June 26, 2011 and that TROUBLE will carry them through season 4:

Make what you will of this 'Screen Test,' first aired after Sunday night's 'Game of Thrones' (really getting into GoT, BTW. Helps a great deal to watch it with someone who has read the book series).

What I see is who I believe will be the core cast for season 4, barring surprises and the featured guest actors like Fiona Shaw as powerful witch Marnie/Hallow Stonebrook.

Maybe the folks who we will probably won't see in season 5 will get their own 'screen test' video?

Anyway, the only characters in this video showing a hint of happiness are Eric (Alexander Skarsgård), Pam played by Kristen Bauer van Straten, who in comparison to the others looks down right jolly, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and maybe Sookie (Anna Paquin). Bill (Stephen Moyer), Tara (Rutina Wesley), Alcide (Joe Manganiello), Sam (Sam Trammell) and Jason (Ryan Kwanten) look perfectly miserable or completely blank (Tara & vampire Jessica played by Deborah Ann Woll).

Is this a hint of what is to come for their characters? Not necessarily. Layfayette's personality is such that there's a built-in levity to his interactions, same for vampires Eric and Pam, despite their amusement often coming at the expense of human folly. I think Sookie is trying to look enigmatic or contemplative in her expressions--not particularly somber, certainly not joyous.

There is no doubt based both on this video and backed up by now-revealed character storylines  that Jason is again in a world of trouble. Tara will be OK for a while, then things get crappy for her again (according to the actress that portrays her, Rutina Wesley). According to actor Joe Manganiello, his character werewolf Alcide Herveaux, has things go bad and stay that way for much of the season. It's hard to say what is up for Jessica. My guess? A mix of bliss and despair, much like she's experienced as a vamp--maybe a bit more mature Jessica, as well)

And poor Sam Merlotte! I've been re-watching True Blood season 1 and despite being over-simply characterized as a 'good guy,' Sam Merlotte has been dark since day 1 of the series. He a tortured and scarred soul. I love Sam Trammell and his great smile but he is really good at playing tormented!

  This article is worth looking at for the magnificent photos of Johnny Depp but it is worth reading both for fun factoids like how did that red 'X' get on Jack Sparrow's right cheek, just under his eye?--as well as further explanation from JD himself about many of the dangly bits that Cap'n Jack sports on his person.

Perhaps most intriguing though is "why" when it seemed an impossibility that Depp would return for a fourth outing as Captain Jack Sparrow, did he make an about face and take on the project? Johnny Depp has long been known for his forthrightness and in this interview he again exhibits refreshing candor.

I suggest picking up a copy of this issue as it is an especially drool-worthy keeper for any Johnny Depp fan.

 

Jack Sparrow doesn’t usually feel regret, though he does at times feel lost. Fans of the devil-may-care seafarer may know what it’s like to be there with him. In this week’s cover story, EW looks at how the fourth film in the Pirates of the Caribbean mega-franchise, On Stranger Tides (out May 20), attempts to reverse course from the previous two installments and return to the stand-alone spirit of the original. “I felt if we were going to do a 4, that more than anything we owed the audience a fresh start, without all the complicated mathematics of 1 colliding with 2 and 2 colliding with 3,” Depp says. “I felt like it was important to eliminate as many complications as possible.”

Nurse Jackie - Episode 3.07: 'Orchids & Salami'

'Kevin finds Jackie's stash so she steals from Oncology.'

Kind of misleading episode description which I'm gonna revise (Slightly spoiler-ish):

Jackie steals drugs from Oncology because she's running out of ways to get her fix. The drug dealing epileptic is charging her $200 a day which obviously there's no way she can continue to shell out.

Kevin does indeed find drugs while searching for daughter Grace's saints cards that she'd dropped down between and under the seat of the car. He accidentally stumbles across Jackie's stash from their car trip 'months ago,' as Jackie frames it when confronted by him. I didn't connect her stealing some heavy painkilling patches from Oncology with his discovery because she did not know about it, yet.

I found it really hard to emphasize with Jackie in this episode as she gets ever-more desperate and willing to take from others to feed her habit. She's flagrantly lying to cover her a** without regard for the needs or feelings of anyone but herself. Yes, she's done so in the past but with her dirty secret discovered by those closest to her, she's desperate and seemingly veering all over the place.

This is a very 'un-pretty' Jackie, one that is on a collision course with disaster which though we've known from the beginning, we didn't know when it was coming.

Dominic Fumusa as Jackie's spouse Kevin is particularly convincing when he confronts Jackie with the stash he's found. He was just beginning to feel OK again about their life, he tells her. Jackie assures him that everything is OK--the pills are from long ago--that part is true--but things are far from OK as we see when she embraces him only to reveal a morphine patch on her upper arm.

I continue to be intrigued by the course of Jackie's addiction. I don't think we had any idea of how much she was taking until recently. Now, if you look at the screen shots you can see that Kevin finds only 3 pills hidden in the dental floss container which Jackie anticipated needing for an overnight trip. Now, as we saw in the last episode, Jackie is downing 5 pills per day, which is both sad and scary. As usual, Edie Falco does a sublime job of portraying Jackie and her many layers beyond being a drug-addict--an example of which you can see in the sneak peek (below--after the jump) where she seems to show genuine caring for of all people, 'Coop,' when she pulls him out of his funk by enticing him with an interesting patient.

Update 5.21.11! True Blood Season 4 Casting News and Spoilers Updated: (5.02.11) #trueblood #spoilers #casting

Though I've been off the the trail of True Blood news this week past, it seems I have not missed a whole heckuva lot--which I suppose, is both good and bad.

If I can be super-honest, I believe HBO's publicity machine toned things down a bit this last week or so in conjunction with the release of Charlaine Harris's 11th edition of the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Gothic Mysteries from which Alan Ball's True Blood premium cable TV show sprang.

We are so often reminded how the two are separate by fans of True Blood, fans of the Sookie books and by the creators of both, but the reality is that the two are inexorably intertwined. 'Sookie #11' was released today, May 3, so with that I'm hoping that we can get back the show.

Updated Casting Call May 21:

Deadline has recently published a new casting release for True Blood Season 4. According to them a new sheriff will be in town this year. Actor Peter Macdissi will be playing the part.  As it turns out this won’t be his first time in an Alan Ball project. His IMDB resume revealed that he starred in Alan’s Six Feet Under and movie Towelhead. Of Macdissi’s role, Deadline says:

“ He will play Luis Patiño, a vampire sheriff in Louisiana, who harbors a troubled past with ties to the Spanish Inquisition, torture, and the witches that are settling in Bon Temps.”

Bon Temps will continue to burnish it's reputation as Louisiana's most supernatural town when True Blood 's fourth season premieres June 26 on HBO.

"There's going to be a lot of people not getting along," says Joe Manganiello, who plays Sookie bf-wannabe-hunky werewolf, Alcide Herveaux.

"The witches are starting trouble with the vampires, and the werewolves, of course, don't like the vampires, either. And the fairies don't like the vampires." "Alcide doesn't like vampires at all, so you'll definitely see that conflict," Joe Manganiello says. "But he doesn't like werewolves (his own kind) [either]. He does like Sookie, (however)."

How's that going to sit with Bill and Eric?

"His situation gets very complicated very fast," he says.

 Mmmm...What's For Breakfast!?!:

 Lafayette Reynolds (Nelsan Ellis) and his shaman boyfriend Jesus Velasquez (Kevin Alejandro) will face a culinary challenge straight out of reality show Survivor.

"Lafayette and I go on a huge adventure where some unfortunate things happen," Kevin reports. "We end up having a very creepy breakfast with some really interesting people, and Lafayette has a real hard time with it."

So what's on the menu? Cagey Kevin tells me the Bayou boys will chow down on one of these three delicacies: a) a cow face, b) a goat tongue or c) poisonous snake venom.

"It's going to turn your stomach!" 

 Sam and Tommy's Season 4 Story-Arc is Shaping Up!:

Shape-shifting brothers Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) and Tommy Mickens (Marshall Allman) will be taking to the skies in a owl vs. hawk mid-air chase. The scene required both men to strip down in the middle of the woods on a cold winter night in Los Angeles.*

"At one point, I had to match the trajectory of a hawk flying up to a trainer on a crane by jumping high and spreading out my arms to fly off," recalls Marshall.

He adds that this is only the beginning of the menagerie madness as...

"Tommy takes shape-shifting to a whole other level with a unique wild-card creature that will prove to be a game-changer in Bon Temps' supernatural power play."

(There is no way Marshall Allman spoke that tongue-twisting sentence without a script. No. Way.)

*I'm sorry, "cold winter night in Los Angeles?" Too funny! I mean, was there snow n' stuff? I'm assuming the writer (Keck) is based in L.A. If so, he knows that there is only two seasons in SoCal: summer and the rainy season.

Californication Season 5 Casting News - 5.03.11 Update! #californication #casting

Storylines are coming together for Showtime's 5th Season of the David Duchovny vehicle, Californication:

Meagan Good has joined Showtime's dark comedy Californication for a major recurring role. Good, who will appear in nine of the 12 episodes of Californication's upcoming fifth season, will play Kali, an extremely hot up-and-coming hip-hop artist.

So, from what I can piece together here, the 'slightly dangerous' rapper Apocalypse, is dating Kali when he meets Hank. Hank, in his usual fashion, cannot resist a beautiful, sexy woman (the just-cast Meagan Good) and either steals her away from Apocalypse or cheats on him with her. Either way, exciting times are again on the horizon for Hank Moody.

Californication is currently in production for it's fifth season which will premiere in September, 2011.

His character will be called "Apocalypse" who's a hip hop mogul who Hank considers writing a movie for.

Hank's going to get a screenwriting gig working on a movie for a rap impresario named Apocalypse, Hank dates a "bangin' Carrie Bradshaw wannabe" and our beloved Becca's (Madeline Martin) getting a much older boyfriend whom you will pretty much hate.

Californication -
Episode 5.01 is entitled 'JFK to LAX.'

Some big hints at where season 5 is heading, two characters on a 9 & 8 episode arc are Apocalypse and his girlfriend, Kali. Apocalypse is a slightly dangerous rapper who takes a meeting with Hank in the hope of Mr. Moody writing a movie for him. The producers want big names for this role.

Also on an 8-episode arc is Doug, a ruggedly handsome and uber-successful contractor who doesn't take any of Hank's BS.

More big news-worthy is the 8 episode arc of Tyler, Becca's boyfriend who is a cocky pretty boy with a snotty rich-kid vibe, which irks Hank.

Season Five Possiblities:

Season Five was picked up by Showtime in January 2011. Creator Tom Kapinos suggests that the show will need to take on a new direction to stay fresh. The narrative will take place soon after Hank's bio-pic ("Fucking and Punching") has been released and his fame and fortune has reached never before seen heights. It is clear that Becca (Madeleine Martin) and Karen (Natascha McElhone) will reprise their roles as Hank's daughter and anchor-ex-fiancee, but will start the season aboard an RV trekking along on their road trip with Ben (Michael Ealy) and his daughter Pearl (Zoë Kravitz). Their role as regulars in the show may taper off this season, but they will still be pivot points to Hank's endless attraction to disaster. The romance between Marcy (Pamela Adlon) and Stu Baggs (Stephen Tobolowsky) will be further explored, as well as how that relationship is affected by Marcy's pregnancy with Charlie Runkle (Evan Handler).
