(Sort of rhetorical--and given patience we will soon know--yay!)
None of them are completely human--but it seems pretty serious. Looking at the screen caps from the promo for the second half of season 3, (CLICK through to enlarge) it appears that maybe--just maybe Alcide kills Cooter when at Russell's plantation because the background looks like the slave quarters and last we saw both Debbie and Cooter were sucking Bill dry and frolicking around, high on "V".

I'm out of the country playing catch-up on my posts--mostly because some content is not available in Canada so apologies for some delays currently. Soon I'll have a friend post the banned content from the states so it will again be as current as my one-(fan)girl band allows.

Here's some Kristen-grade spoilers for the  second half of season 3.

A: How about some Bon Temps body count intel? Director Scott Winant tells us: “This season the fewest actors die. I killed my share, but compared to season two, not as many.” Are you breathing a sigh of relief that we’ll be losing less of our beloved characters or do you tune in for the blood and carnage? We won’t judge. Well, maybe just a little.

( I wonder if he's referring specifically to featured cast members or actors like the three wolves Bill killed? My guess is almost the  entire body count will consist of actors new this season or actors who were killed at this sort-of point in the story. Hint: Sookie has sworn to kill a certain individual and I'm thinking she'll do it. It's not Eric as she has only sworn to "get back" at him. More hints about one death in the screen caps above.)

Q: What’s ahead for Jason?
Looks like that annoying quarterback is going to continue honing in on Jason’s old stomping grounds, because our True Blood sources say his next stop is going to be working with the infamous road crew. Guess that scholarship didn’t come around after all?

(Wow. Nothing about Crystal? Way to duck  a question. I'll answer. There will be more Crystal and her fellow Hotshot folk (see below).

Q:What’s the deal with Tommy’s dad?
A:Are you referring to that freaky head of hair, or the whole “I own my son!” thing? Let’s go with the latter. Without revealing too much, we’ll say that the Mickens family has a means of income and it involves pimping out their youngest son, so to speak. Oh, and it’s illegal and does not occur when Tommy’s in his human form.

( I agree that  Joe Lee Mickens looks sort of non-human but I think that is just a writing device to muddy the  waters. I think he is what he seems: A drunken no-good free-loading bully and Tommy's mom as we saw this past week, is 100% behind him.

Tommy shifts into his pit bull from and they force him to dogfight (he's their meal ticket.)

We can pretty well tell that things go very badly for Sookie (bad to worse would seem an apt description) in episode 7, Hitting The Ground." SPOILER!!!
Sookie lives.

Bill feels very badly that he almost killed her while delirious from his own near death at the hands of Lorena and the V-addicted wolves, he attacks Sookie and feeds from her greedily. His fault or not? Or was she as Tara suggested, out of her mind to have barreled in to "save" him.

SPOILER. Of course James Frain continues as Franklin Mott. Did you see his body crumple up and turn to goo? You did not. Tara can be forgiven for not knowing that you cannot beat a vamp to death if you ain't going to stake them or completely sever their heads.Tara "only" smashed Franklin's already-addled brains in. Sookie would.

With the ToyStory 3: Buttercup Audition video, I believe that Disney Pixar has tapped out the Toy Story 3 fountain of wonderfulness. The Buttercup video is incredibly short and utterly meh. Judge for yourself. (I still love Disney-Pixar, tho'.)

Update! Sneak Peek Dexter Scene - 'Rita was their only hope' - Michael C Hall - Jennifer Carpenter 'Deb' - Getting Rid of the Ghosts

It's really hard not to observe the marital dynamic between Michael C Hall (Dexter) and wife Jennifer Carpenter (Deb). He looks good at Comic Con, though his hair is kind of wavy. Wondering if that a result of the chemo. I've noticed in the Season 5 promos that he is bewigged. For the start of Season 5 and for promotion of it it seems needed but according to Jennifer Carpenter, they are filming Episode 4 currently so I wonder if sharp eyes are going to notice Dexter getting a haircut after the first couple of episodes? Hall looks great though. Much perseverance on Hall's part to work right through his treatments and to return to work barely as he finished them. Strong guy.

Dexter Season 5 Trailer from Comic-Con 2010. Sins may be forgiven but conscience is a killer. Season five premieres Sunday, September 26th.

It's really hard not to feel sorry for Dexter (Michael C.Hall) as we commence with season 5. Has he ever in his life been this far over his head in a sustained fashion as is implied here? Rita's murder by Trinity (John Lithgow) in the season 5 finale has forced a huge switch in direction for Dexter and he was already shifting due to his association with Trinity. Anyone would be eff'ed up over a spouse's bloody murder but to know that you, ultimately are responsible? Will it be too much for Dexter? My guess is surely there will be moments when it looks like he might never reign himself back from the brink of destruction. Such a great show. It will be doubly good to see a healthy Michael C. Hall--even if his character is going through the wringer.

I like Joe Manganiello plenty but  he hasn't had enough scenes with Sookie for me to be able to determine if they have chemistry. OTOH, since they are bringing on Joe/Alcide as a featured character then possibly, a series regular may go. I don't see a plausible way to "get rid" of  the original featured cast member but I do agree with the loud Internet chatter that one of the lead characters has had very few compelling aspects that would make the character an audience favourite.

I am of the opinion that book four of the Sookie Stackhouse series was especially good--and Alcide it seems will be very busy next season--so good times ahead!

Joe: Yes, they have a very volatile relationship... there was a lot of passion, but now that things have gone sideways...hey get back into it very quickly.

Joe: They are... I think Sookie represents the woman Alcide wants to be with, that he wishes he could be with whereas Debbie represents where he came from.

Joe: I think episode 7 is pretty amazing.

While True Blood's Bill is off dealing with his own enemies, Sookie has a brand-new nemesis of her own.

Debbie Pelt (Brit Morgan), a crazed V-addicted werewolf who's engaged to pack leader Cooter (Grant Bowler), still has unresolved feelings about her ex-boyfriend, Alcide (Joe Manganiello).

So seeing Sookie (Anna Paquin) around Alcide, Morgan tells TVGuide.com, "pretty much sparks a murderous rampage in her head."

TVGuide.com: How does it feel getting to join such a hot cast?
Morgan: It's such a beautiful cast... At the first table read, I could barely think straight. Everyone is just so easy going, despite how good-looking they are.

TVGuide.com: Tell us about your character, Debbie Pelt.
Morgan: Debbie Pelt is a really kick-ass, passionate, ballsy woman. I'm a werewolf with a bit of an addiction to V, so I'm going on a rampage against Sookie. I'm not too happy with her. My character just takes this winding road, a bit of a downward spiral. I'm definitely in attack mode towards Sookie.

TVGuide.com: Did you read the Sookie Stackhouse novels before being cast?
Morgan: Once I was cast, I read two of them. Just the ones I was involved in. I'm not sure ... but I think Debbie is much different [in the show] than in the books... I got to do whatever I wanted with her. There's nothing better than playing crazy when everyone else is just encouraging it.

Alexander Skarsg ård ' s Heavy Metal Moment " Uh oh, ASkars "

True Blood's Alexander Skarsgård partaking in something that really made his friends (see couch) giggle with his "Beyond The Pole" (2009) co-star Rhys Thomas. hm. The film didn't do so well. Perhaps they are cheering themselves up?

Unless "Beyond The Pole" which sounds naughty but is not, sat on the shelf for a couple of years Alex was already making a splash with True Blood and he must  surely have by then racked up some of his "mostly beautiful human" alive awards from his native land before/during the time he made the film. So I guess...hm.

Seems like he'd be a hit at parties.

True Blood - 3x04 - " 9 Crimes " NEW Promo Photos & Extended Summary *SPOILERS*

Just because much of the U.S. was busy enjoying a long weekend didn't mean that HBO closed up shop. Nope. The HBO promo dept is still in overdrive  releasing a set of very spoilery photos from the July 11 installment, "9 Crimes." ( I'm curious. It's pretty normal to have at least nine crimes in each episode of True Blood. Is that gonna be the count for this one, too?)

I think this is Lafayette having just been turned away from a "V" sale returning to his brand new Eric-bestowed convertible to find it messed up by some unsavory Hotshot denizens. EDIT/Oh heck, now I'm doubting myself. Is this at the front of his home? But maybe his car is still messed with? It needs to be Sunday.NOW.

Her last instruction to Eric after the Magister came calling was "move the blood" (the V) as she was behind on her taxes. Eric tried the soft approach on Lafayette gifting him with an expensive car and Lafayette ventured out into the wrong side of Renard Parish-- Hotshot--trying to unload the stuff. Sophie-Anne is also in the cross hairs of the King Of Mississippi so her sour expression could be due to either situation--or neither or both since her nose seems out of joint most of the time.

Here is the context to the phone convo that Bill and Sookie have in which he tells her he does not wish to be found and that their relationship was doomed from the start. I don't believe a word of it. He's playing  everyone that is involved in his kidnapping as he is smarter than many most of them.

Just the same, when he finally does escape/is set free he won't be going back to Sookie anytime soon as he has done some Very Bad Things. Nice shot of Mr. Moyer, btw.

True Blood – Episode 3.04 – ’9 Crimes’ – Casting Call
The casting call for True Blood Episode 3.04 has been released.

Titled “9 Crimes” (from the 2006 piano pop song by Damien Rice), Episode 4 of Season 3  introduces the character that in interviews Alan Ball has expressed the most enthusiasm for.

Yes folks, Debbie Pelt (got  to love the last name but if you are in the dark, you won’t be after getting acquainted with her) is being cast for this episode. She’s Alcide’s’  ‘beloved ex’ and a ‘V’ (vampire blood) addict to boot!  The character is described as being in her late 20s, appearing “strung out and stubborn.”

This description supplies only an inkling of what Ms. Pelt is like. I can’t wait to see who they cast because she’ll need gravitas. This is a recurring character.

Alcide’s sister is also being cast. Janice is described as “(age) 32, fit and tough as nails… She fancies biker gear, horoscopes and psychics and is protective of her little brother.”

AB and Co. have cooked up another entirely new character in “Kitch Maynard”. Kitch is a “17-year-old… new high school football star and hometown hero, which he enjoys rubbing in Jason’s face.” (Isn’t Jason like 30 y.o.? Why would he care?) Kitch is a recurring character. This description also states that Kitch might participate in some “Possible car ass type nudity.” Is that legal?!

Kitch has an admirer, “Donny,” who works the road crew with Jason while “he kisses up to Kitch, the new high school football star…”

This episode also calls for fresh blood in the form of  an exotic stripper, “Ann,” who is described as striking-looking, scantily clad and “dead behind the eyes.” Ann performs topless and will be glamoured and devoured by three vampires.
Um, wow.

Injecting some Christianity into this episode is “Chip Welling, a clean-cut, all-American Christian boy recognizes Jessica from Bible study. He’s relieved to see her alive.” Boy, is Chip in for a surprise! Should be fun.

I’m not sure if it’s been announced if the were village of Hotshot, which was in the books, will be part of the show. The characters who reside there seem to be taking shape–like Felton Norris–described as “in his early 20s and a violent young punk.” He’s a relative of the cooler-headed Calvin Norris. Felton strips Lafayette’s car and helps beat up Lafayette.”

Oh noes! Lafayette is gonna get pummeled again? He gets smacked around almost as much as Sookie does!

It's amazing how writing about tv shows that you enjoy has changed and how it continues to change every season. Take Dexter, for example. Though it is not due to premiere until September 2010, because filming is now taking place there is news to share. But not just any news. Because of the lightening quick changes in how we gather information and how we disseminate it, an individual on the set of Dexter can surreptitiously  whip out a cameraphone and film a bit like the one above. It's not a huge spoiler but I doubt Showtime wants Dexter promoted without their express approval--or do they? Do they know any better than say, I do what is the best way to promote Dexter on the Internet? Is there a single "best way?" Is the snippet here an intentional leak as it really does not spoil anything (unless you didn't think that Rita was going to get carried out of her house in a body bag)? If it gets removed, I suppose I'll know the answer.

FYI: I am now going to let The True Blood Blog alone for a few days while I catch up on Dexter and Sons of Anarchy (as well as Weeds and The Big C). Sorry this is late but until True Blood concludes and thank gawd it does before Dexter starts, I need two of me to keep up. I would think if you enjoy one there's a good chance you may find something to like in both. After all, there's only one degree of separation between them (Alan Ball - Michael C.Hall).

April Lee Hernandez has landed what I’m fairly certain is the last new recurring role of Dexter‘s upcoming fifth season. The actress — best known for her supporting work in ’07′s Freedom Writers and as Nurse Inez on ER — will play a new cop (presumably) working in Miami Metro’s homicide department.

Hernandez joins fellow season 5 newbies Julia Stiles (as Dex’s new pal), Maria Doyle Kennedy (as an Irish nanny), and Shawn Hatosy (as someone… who’s, um, not nice).

The videos just keep coming for Toy Story 3.

I read my first sort of middling review of Toy Story 3 today. The reviewer waxed on about how the Toy Story franchise has always being about life and death and loss, etc. but took issue with Toy Story 3's lame getaway from the daycare facility sequence. He did however really enjoy the parts where the toys, having "escaped" on a garbage truck went through the giant sorting machines and then almost got incinerated. Also, he worried that kid's movies were not for kids anymore. I have to totally disagree with that assessment.There has long been "kid's movies" that have a layer for the adults that the kiddies do not grasp.The cool thing is if the movies stand the test of time, they can be re-watched with a new eye--and level of appreciation.

A series of unfortunate encounters in this episode.
Jessica gets blackmailed by Franklin Mott with the head he has ripped off the corpse of the guy she accidentally killed while feeding on him.
Eric takes a bullet in saving Sookie from an attack by a were. Eric goes on to nearly rip the uncooperative were's head off.
Finally, Franklin Mott gets it on with Tara after assisting her (he held a guy while she beat his face in) her in a drunken brawl in Merlotte's parking lot. I have no idea why she went to a cheap motel with him and hooked up other than Tara is the most eff'ed up human (other than her mother) on the show.

Is it me or is the prop department going a bit more chunky in it's simulated bloody gore?

NEW Video Interviews w/Sam Trammell & Joe Manganiello (7.2.10)

Joe Manganiello is the newest star of True Blood, playing a werewolf Alcide Herveaux. Off-screen, Joe is a comic book fan, and takes us on a tour of his favorite place to get them, Los Angeles' famous Golden Apple Comics.

Zap2it caught up with "True Blood's" Sam Trammell (who plays shapeshifter, Sam Merlotte) at KTLA News Morning Show right after he revealed the secret of male nude scenes on the show. It's called "the sock" and, well, we had to flesh it out with him. Pun intended.

It's a double scoop of  True Blood manliness with both Joe Manganiello and Sam Trammell giving some face time to the media while we wait two whole weeks between True Blood episodes.

Joe discusses his life-long comic-book geekiness (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were his fave) and in general comes across as a gorgeous,  sweet 6'5" guy.

I'm a bit more comfortable going all fan-girl on Sam Trammell who is a few years older than Joe, though no less charming. Sam is a really good sport as interviewer after interviewer wants to know more about "the sock."

Sam gives really nothing away spoiler-wise other than to say that there is a big story arc for his character and that it will take him places that we've never seen (him) go before.

There is a very brief clip of a scene that follows where we left off with Sam--his younger brother broke into his safe, setting off the alarm, rousing Sam out of bed and then taking off (literally).

Kinda cool to revisit the original Toy Story. TBH, I wasn't wowed by Toy Story 2. I only saw it once and it may have been my mood that day but I think it was the plot that didn't grab me. I know that much is true because Pixar animation always grabs me. Regardless, Toy Story 3 is as powerful as the original Toy Story. Up 'till tonight though I didn't realize that the name of "the guy that did Slinky's voice"--who died in 2000 was Jim Varney. Amazing that they got the rest of the originals back after 15 years.
