Two new LOST Season 5 Promos have been released by ABC. The first one has a couple of new scenes, one with Desmond telling Penny that "Everyone on that island is in danger," also Richard Alpert telling John Locke that "the only way to save the island is to get your people back here."
Also: A "blast" from the past-

LOST:Charlie's Death Scene
With Desmond Hume, Charlie Pace, and evil, why won't he just die Mikhail, or "Patchy" as he was occasionally referred to. Also: Featuring the voice of Penelope "Penny" Widmore (Sonya Walger).
There are quite a lot of Easter-egg-type scenes intercut into each promo preview for Season 5 of LOST (January 21, 2009). Some are as simple to see as the one below--just by pausing the promo video.
The people who enjoy analyzing the promos keep pulling snippets out that, put together, in some cases show parts of full scenes from the upcoming season. Some scenes are previously shown, of course. Just in case we'd forgotten. lol. There is another new official promo video--released the same time as this one. It has mostly previously aired scenes. I'm guessing it'll be easy to find if you wish to click through.
Images from the most recent official ABC promo video~
This was really easy to find--more Dharma Initiative. Speculation that Season 5 finishes the Dharma story are welcome words to my ears. Yes, please--stick a fork in it.
This is from ABC Trailer 6 video (current as of today). I hadn't realized when I'd seen this scene before. Hurley has blood just pouring on his upper right side (he's running and I think he's w/Sayid). I hope it is someone's else's!
Previously capped (a stuntman!): John Locke (Terry O'Quinn) plunging to his...
They've shown what I think is the immediate aftermath of this previously:
Ouch.
Des (Henry Ian Cusick) is telling Penny (Sonya Walger) that he's going back to the Island.
That is not a happy face.
I think Sayid and Hurley are in this SUV. It appears they are in the middle of some chaos.
OMG! Evangeline Lilly, "Kate" looks about 50 years old here! I thought it was some kind of flash way forward but since "freckles" are about all she's wearing on her face and she looks distressed perhaps that explains things.
One in the series of preview-promos. I hadn't realized that Hurley (Jorge Garcia) is covered in blood. He's also wearing what appears to be a hospital gown.
Season Five promo (Matthew Fox)
Ethan Rom? Hard to say. It would be odd to see that guy again since
he's dead but such is LOST--as the most missed "dead" actor from LOST
says," "In the rules of Lost...is anyone really dead?"
In promos that show John Locke's face he looks like he's looking at something/one terrifying.
Bad things happening around Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell)
OMG no! Not another hatch-like looking thing!
Sawyer, Juliet (Josh Holloway, Elizabeth Mitchell) Anyone want to speculate about future possibilities?
Erik's utterance upon leaving Jessica the teenage vamp, with Bill,
her maker. "Ah, ljuva frihet!." Translation: Oh, sweet freedom. True Blood Italia
Jason: I got no idea what you're talkin 'about. Orry : That’s smart.
Don’t admit to anything.
Eggs: Sometimes good shit happens.
Sookie: (addressed to Renè) Don’t bother. Thinking about nothing
ain’t possible. Trust me, everyone’s tried it around me. Sooner or
later you’ll think about something. What’s kinda funny, is that… Your
thoughts don’t have an accent.
Sookie: You're alive?
Bill: Technically, no.
I thought the music in this season finale was utilized to great effect and though I usually leave it to True Blood Italia to tell you all about it, the list is so neat I'm borrowing again.
Claude Debussy - Prelude a l’apres-midi d’un faune - (Tara wakes up at the home of Maryann)
The Royal Philarmonic Orchestra - Fantasy Pieces- Why? (Tara breakfast)
Christine’s Tune (Devil in Disguise) - The Flying Burrito Brothers - (Renè sings)
Ray LaMontagne - Trouble - Ray Lamontagne - Trouble - (Sookie goes
to fetch the ice tea as Rene prepares for the kill; Sam asks where
Sookie is.)
Johnny Winter - You’ll Be The Death Of Me - (Sam asks Tara about LaFayette's
Smartt Bell - Cut & Run - (Andy, drinking and depressed at Merlotte's)
7. Crooked Still - Ain’t No Grave
"Jessica" (Deborah Ann Woll) Episode 11 "Jessica" Episode 12 (finale)
Season One Of True Blood was based onDead Until Dark, Charlaine Harris' first book in the series and in the Sookie Stackhouse series. The next is based on the second,Living Dead in Dallas, which finds Sookie spending time in that city. Several characters "get involved in what they think is a legitimate church," Ball says. And a new creature "will create much havoc and chaos."
I wonder if the "new creature" that "will create much havoc and chaos" is Michelle Forbes' character, Maryann Forrester*?
Spoiler:*who is said to be playing a maenad [MEE-nad] a female worshiper of Dionysus, the Greek god of mystery, wine and intoxication. The word literally translates as "raving ones".
Production will resume in January in Los Angeles and Louisiana, and the show will return with 12 new episodes next summer, a very short break--especially for HBO.

Dexter starts to fear that Miguel may have strayed from the newly taught Code. This concern starts to put a strain on their friendship. And Dexter doesn’t get a reprieve from this at Rita’s either. Sylvia, noting how Miguel is never at home anymore, tells Rita that she is now convinced that Miguel is having an affair. Rita decides to confront Miguel about his indiscretions. Meanwhile, Anton is confirmed to have been taken by the Skinner, sending Debra into a furious search, not only for Anton, but also for his potential killer.
Rita's intention to confront Miguel about his alleged infidelity has an impact on his friendship with Dexter as he becomes suspicious about Miguel's honesty; Debra pulls out all the stops to locate Anton after it is believed that he's been abducted by the Skinner.
All you folks complaining that "Dexter" has lost it's mojo this season, what d'ya have to say now? The entire episode, "About Last Night" was a tense race from start to finish.
Debra's (Jennifer Carpenter) "CI" paramour Anton (David Ramsay) has been snatched by the Skinner and we are graphically shown early on that he is indeed being skinned. Deb and partner Quinn (Desmond Harrington) find The Skinner, tree trimmer George King, but have nothing to charge him with and will have to let him go by day's end--and he plans to go back and do more skinning. They frantically work every angle they can to try to get The Skinner to break but nothing is happening.
Meanwhile, Dexter's suspicions that Miguel Prado (Jimmy Smits) may have done great bodily harm to D.A. Ellen Wolf (Anne Ramsay) are confirmed when Dexter goes to the place he told Miguel is perfect to dump bodies--the cemetery, in graves that have been freshly dug awaiting the lowering of a coffin. Dexter finds the beaten, strangled, stabbed body of the missing DA and he decides to teach Miguel a lesson about never violating the Code of Harry, which Miguel did when he murdered an innocent person.
Dexter now realizes that Miguel lied to him about the murder, lied about ensuring his trust (with a shirt faked with cow's blood to look like the one from the Freebo murder), and through his interaction with Rita pretty much confirming that he'd been using Dexter all along.
I'm confident that the next/last three episodes of Season 3 of Dexter are going to spin your head around. Dexter is facing so many problems that he did not have when he kept his world small and manageable by keeping people out. Now he's got to deal with a monster of his own creation and the fact that said monster can take Dexter down with him. You'd best strap yourself in tightly. Looks like it's going to be a fierce ride to the finish.

Dexter - Episode 3.10 - Go Your Own Way - Press Release
"GO YOUR OWN WAY"
Dexter feels like he’s making a deal with the devil when he feigns civility around Miguel after his duplicitous ways. Dexter finds himself in a series of chess-like moves against his former friend, all while hoping that Miguel doesn’t get the upper hand on him. Meanwhile, Dexter watches helplessly as Miguel draws Rita closer through a wonderful wedding gift. Debra, now back with Anton after his close call with the Skinner, wonders if her relationship with Anton is worth putting her career in jeopardy. After all, is it smart for everyone to know that she is dating a former confidential informant?
BSG - Season 4.5 Promo
Clearly not a happy end to look forward to. The Adama-Roslin 'shippers ought to be happy with the morsel they are sharing. I have to check but it looks likes she's wearing her chemo wig. Below video is a fan-made recap but it's really good. Someone put a lot of time in.
Now that True Blood is over it's time for me to start haunting places like Galactica Sitrep for good stuff like this.
Just finished a marathon re-watching of the first 12 episodes of True Blood. They were so compelling, so fun!--a real rollercoaster ride that I did not want to end. I can say without hesitation that season 1 True Blood has been the best of the three seasons that Alan Ball has helmed--so far.
We are about six weeks away from the premiere of season 4 True Blood and though I'm excited I'm also sort of bracing myself for it not to be as good as the first season despite my fervent desire that it be even better.
There are some weak links in the fabric of True Blood which I've talked about a number of times. Right out of the gate though I want to state unequivocally that the problem lies not with the cast--the entire cast is very talented but the characters, specifically 'Sam Merlotte,' 'Tara Thorton' and 'Jason Stackhouse' has had to one degree or another, flat storylines.
I'm looking to season 4 to pull these characters up and give them something great to do.
(November 22, 2008)
Like an ever-increasing number of True Blood fans, I have read the Charlaine Harris book, "Dead Before Dark," that inspired the series True Blood--and I say "inspired" deliberately.
Creator-producer-showrunner genius, Alan Ball has said from the first interviews (that I've read) that he would be changing things up from the book. At that point he had no idea how the series would be received as it hadn't aired yet. Then, as you know, True Blood became the lifeblood for HBO's Sunday nights.
After only the second show HBO took the unprecedented step of renewing the show for a second season so viewers "could feel secure" in getting invested in the story.
Savvy move, methinks. However, as the faithful Sookie Stackhouse readers knew, Mr. Ball has switched things up, added things-taken things out--in other words Alan Ball is making True Blood his own. I read a lot of what True Blood fans have said about the series--and I think we can all agree that it is incredibly entertaining.
Why? Charlaine Harris created some fascinating and entertaining characters as well as a setting in Northern Louisiana which she breathed life into--and then Alan Ball took that and worked his magic on it. There is no reason whatsoever why fans of Ms. Harris and the Sookie Stackhouse series of books have to be upset when Mr. Ball tweaks or changes things. Unless you enjoy being upset. :/
Hers are books, this is television. I know this is stating the obvious but they are two very different genres. So please let Mr. Ball continue to work his magic, continue to bring a spotlight to Charlaine Harris's book series and we, the audience get to have the best of both worlds.
I'm trying to prepare you because in all likelihood Mr. Ball is not going to go line-by-line through Book II in the Sookie Stackhouse series- "Living Dead In Dallas." He said he would pretty much stick with Book I, "Dead Before Dark," upon which True Blood is based--and you see how far he's veered off into Alan Ball-world. Instead, lets look forward to some fantastic original television returning in June 2009 in the form of True Blood: Season Two.

New footage from LOST: Season Five just premiered as part of The Fray's new video for "You Found Me." With the premiere of LOST less than two months away, the publicity machine is ramping up to high gear. Please follow my weekly, photo-intense recap as well as news about LOST at The Love You Make --though much of my LOST archive is here. LOST Season 5 Premieres January 21, 2009, 8 p.m. but I'm sure there will be plenty of previews before that time.
If you like me haven't been following spoilers for Season 5 you need to brace yourself because everything is new--and some big stuff is getting out. Enlarge this: Episode 5.04 - The Little Prince - Call Sheet and start speculating!
Despite the long and winding road that has been LOST's path, many people remain devoted fans of the show. With the unique situation of knowing the show's end date--it runs through Season 6--it may perhaps be easier to get on board with watching the series finish out. Regardless, the music video does help one to believe that LOST still holds a lot of promise.
Because it's been shown before in prior video bits (see below) of Season 5, I think we are supposed to wonder why John Locke has a compass embedded in his palm. He appears to have woken up and it's just there--in his hand. Ick. Many of the scenes in the music video are scenes that have already been shown in previous "sneak peeks" intercut with the more recent scenes that have not previously been broadcast.
I was heartened to see "Daniel Faraday" on several occasions as Jeremy Davies is one of my favourite actors on the show. Of course, seeing Daniel in several new scenes takes the mystery out of what may have happened to the people on the life raft when the sky turned purple and the Island disappeared. Obviously at least Daniel survived.
Of course, the shippers are playing up the Sawyer (Josh Holloway) and Juliette (Elizabeth Mitchell) angle. <gag>
I've never been an especially big fan of Sawyer hooked up with anybody in particular and I think pairing him up with the brainy Juliette is stretching credulity just a bit too far.
We all know that in the hierarchy of needs that human beings first and foremost need food, shelter and safety-- and sex is fun time and since it appears that the island gang has gotten themselves into serious do-do, sex, though it may be on the minds of the audience is probably not a practicality unless the showrunners contrive a scene. So on second thought, there will be sex.
I think LOST plays best when it's doing the action-adventure-smoke monster thing. All the Dharma Initiative stuff should have been dealt with--it's been four years, for goodness sake! I've stopped caring--and who has time to be futzing with codes and such. Just give us good characters, great story lines, adventure, mystery, scary monsters--that is after all what we signed on for.
The characters and their relationships and have been inconsistent in their quality, and some have literally been shredded by the show runners. There have been many occasions where a LOST character has been assassinated by the script.
John Locke (Terry O' Quinn) was much-beloved and then he morphed into a guy we didn't know with zilch to like. Michelle Rodriguez as Ana-Lucia never even had a chance to show what she could do before in a very stupid turn the story took Michael (Harold Perrineau) killed both she and Libby (Cynthia Watros). With Michael's character as well they'd never given him a chance--then wrote him stupid. A shame as Perrineau is a proven talent.
With each new season since S-1 there have been many wasted opportunities for potential storylines with both it's well-utilized and wasted characters,
There is a chance at redemption for the last two season of LOST-- and of course redemption is a huge theme throughout LOST.
So here's hoping that LOST, Season Five in this, it's second to last season will earn again the moniker 'great television'--a great show--that they have not attained since Season One. Watching the video got me pretty jazzed. So kudos to the marketing people. Mark your calendars, folks -- January 21, 2009 at 8 PM Eastern is the premier of LOST, Season Five. Be there or be square.
I've been sitting on a few spoilery items regarding the Season 5 Premiere of LOST, sort of waiting until I got ahold of something a bit more...satisfying. Well, today a 15-second teaser was released within which sharp-eyed folks can note that there is 1. a compass in John Locke's hand which points southeast and 2. Hurley is holding a gun with a silencer like some kind of secret agent man.
From Kristin at E!
"Q: What else can you tell us about Michelle Rodriguez's return to Lost? —Elana A: Considering that neither M.Rod nor the show's producers want to discuss Ana Lucia's one-episode resurrection, not much! But the badass will reappear in this season's second episode — the same one that marks the return of Cheech Marin as Hurley's dad. This suggests to me that the hour is likely Hurley-centric and, given his encounter with Charlie's ghost last season, his run-in this time with Ana Lucia will also be imaginary..."
The official titles for the first six episodes are: Episode 5.01 - Because You Left Episode 5.02 - The Lie Episode 5.03 - Jughead Episode 5.04 - The Little Prince Episode 5.05 - This Place Is Death Episode 5.06 - The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham
NEW UPDATE: The LOST Season Five premiere will actually be a three-hour "event." <Man, I cannot sit for three hours. Bless you, sweet DVR.> An hour-long recap special will air at 8 PM, followed by the first two episodes from 9-11 PM. The series will air thereafter at 9 PM on Wednesdays.
Miguel brings Dexter another “project,” but this time he wants to get his hands dirty. Dexter realizes it’s time to teach Miguel the Code – for his own safety as well as Miguel’s. As Dexter walks Miguel through the process, Dexter both struggles with, and enjoys, letting Miguel into his private world so completely. But Dexter doesn’t realize that this has only whetted Miguel’s appetite. Rita finds herself losing control because of the pregnancy. She becomes worried that Dexter may get fed up with her. Because of her hard work, Debra finds herself one step closer to catching the Skinner. But after she finds out a secret about her new boyfriend, Anton, he disappears on her.
From left, James Remar (Harry Morgan a/k/a Dex's conscience) Julie Benz (Rita Bennett), Jennifer Carpenter (Debra Morgan), Michael C. Hall (Dexter Morgan) (2008)
The "secret" that Debra found out about Anton-- other than that he keeps pot in a cereal box--is that he had been lied to by Deb's partner Quinn about Anton's CI status. Anton was not an official CI and Quinn partner paid in him in cash. Deb was told by AIB that Quinn cut corners and got a cop killed.
This episode is notable as well as the one where on-set Jimmy Smits (Miguel Prado) mistakenly picked up and plunged a real knife into the chest of the stuntman who was on the table, gagged. The stuntman knew it was the wrong knife but couldn't warn Smits. Fortunately for all involved the stuntman was wearing a device that kept the knife from actually stabbing him.

Huge spoilers above. The Bon Temps killer is revealed, the Michelle Forbes character, a "maenad' (Michelle Forbes), is fleshed out, the end result of Bill's punishment from episode 10 is revealed--it's a great clip--and there's lots of Erik. ;)
I spend a lot of time searching the Internet to find information about my and presumably your favourite shows. I love to be spoiled--almost as much as I <3 reading and sharing spoilers.
Make sure to tell your friends if they somehow missed the greatness that is True Blood to catch up on it so they can pick up with the show for the already-renewed Season 2 beginning it is rumoured, in June of '09. (Series renewal was confirmed by HBO after the showing of E2).
In Chicago you have to have waterproof--not water resistant and there's no point in going for fashion when you are slogging through, snow, ice, sleet, and slush. It does not rain here in the winter.
I wanted to get some authentic Canadian mukluks but I couldn't find any that were not made of a dead animal and were waterproof. Actually, I got stuck at the "not made of a dead animal" part.
Another plea to be more inclusive: I'm not worldly-wise but simply from reading blogs from the Australians I can say that they will not need their feet to be "toasty warm" when they are out enjoying beach or pool weather when much of the US is having winter weather.
Even within the United States, people in areas with large populations like Florida and Southern California and other areas like Arizona do not wear "traditional" winter wear unless they travel someplace away from where they reside.
Just one more thing, many of the Vox Hunt and QotD's have a very San Francisco slant to them. San Francisco, I can state unequivocally as I'm quite familiar with the area, is not typical in most every way of a United States city. In many ways it is better--but it is a poor pool from which to base your QotD's and Vox Hunt's on.
Suggestion: Have the questions include a flip side like the one above could be something like "blah, blah, blah all winter long and conversely for those folks enjoying other major climate changes what will you be wearing in place of what you've been wearing previously?"
It's simply polite to be inclusive--and bad manners, not to mention bad geography to act as if the whole world = The United States of America.
Episode 1.10 - I Don’t Wanna Know Caught in a compromising position, Sam shares a secret with an incredulous Sookie. Thinking she’s been purged of her demon, Tara celebrates with Lettie Mae - but goes off the deep end when she uncovers Miss Jeanette’s true intentions. Sookie has a disturbing revelation during Arlene (Carrie Preston) and Rene’s (Michael Raymond James) engagement party at Merlotte’s; Jason and Amy debate what to do with Eddie; and Tara speeds into a bizarre roadside encounter that lands her in jail. At a vampire tribunal to decide his fate, Bill faces a harsh penalty for his offense, but the magister (Zelijko Ivanek) decides on a more creative sentence involving a young human named Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll).
This week's episode actually surpasses last week in the thrill and chill department with the vampire tribunal being among the most disturbing scenes thus far in True Blood (!)
'I Don’t Wanna Know' picks up where last week left off with Sookie (Anna Paquin) screaming upon discovering a nude Sam (Sam Trammell) curled up, sleeping at the foot of her bed. Sam hastens to explain that he is in fact, a "shifter" and that he means no harm. After he proves it to her by shifting to "Dean" right in front of her Sookie seems overwhelmed and shuts Sam out from any further conversation about his "issues."
Dean the dog (Sam)
Meanwhile, Bill (Stephen Moyer) is at a vampire tribunal where he is facing the consequences of having staked the thieving Longshadow to prevent him from killing Sookie.
Many vampires are gathered round anxiously awaiting Bill's punishment as rendered by the magister (Zeljko Ivanek). After another vampire has his teeth ripped out as commanded by the magister, things are looking bleak for Bill.
Bill attempts to explain to the magister the circumstances in which he staked Longshadow. Surprisingly, Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) vouches for Bill about the veracity of Bill's statements. The fact that business was involved seems to move the sadistic magister to reduce Bill's punishment from five years locked in his coffin bound in silver, to "replacing" Longshadow by siring a new vampire.
The magister pointedly refers to the fact that Bill has not yet ever sired a vampire in his entire existence as a vampire. A terrified teenage girl named 'Jessica' (Deborah Ann Woll) is brought in at the behest of the magister. Bill is commanded to sire her and he first glamours her to attempt to calm her but is admonished by the magister--no glamouring.
Meanwhile, back at Merlotte's, a engagement party for Arlene (Carrie Preston) and René (Michael Raymond-James) is in full swing. Sookie is in attendance, sitting glumly by herself at a picnic table, watching the festivities in the converted parking lot. She goes to fetch some ice from inside the bar. Within moments the lights are cut and Sookie quickly realizes that she is in mortal danger. She has a vision through the
killer's mind of his prior victims. Sookie evades the killer, whose face neither she nor we ever see and as she runs to the entrance she crashes into Sam who is on his way in (now, quite obviously not the Bon Temps killer). Sookie appears to forgive Sam for being a shifter.
While this is going on Tara (Rutina Wesley), still worried that she has a demon inside her, pays "Miss Jeanette" the $800 to be exorcised. Later, after tripping on the peyote Miss Jeanette gave her and puking her guts out because the peyote was mixed with Ipecac, Tara discovers that she was in fact, used by Miss Jeanette. She visits the party, drinks too much, and is turned away by Sam after she tries to make out with him. While drinking and driving on a lonely road Tara loses control of her car and plows through a picket fence. We briefly see the face of the actress Michelle Forbes.*** scroll down
At the engagement party, after discovering evidence of Jason's (Ryan Kwanten) involvement in vampire Eddie's disappearance, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) verbally lays into Jason, telling him that he is mortally endangering everyone with his loose lips.
Jason seems to take this to heart and listening to the advice of René on how best to get his woman in line he goes home intending to release vampire Eddie. This terrifies Amy (Lizzy Caplan), who picks up part of a broken picket fence in the basement of Jason's house and plunges it into Eddie as Jason is trying to free him... Much like Longshadow, Eddie dissolves into a pile of mush./end scene
Meanwhile back at the tribunal, Bill wrestles the shrieking Jessica and plunges his teeth into her throat, rising up and howling and then ripping again into her throat continuing his feast of blood.
***Michelle Forbes is said to be playing a Maenad [MEE-nad] a female worshipper of Dionysus, the Greek god of mystery, wine and intoxication. The word literally translates as "raving ones."
Episode 1.11 - To Love Is to Bury Bill fulfills the conditions of the tribunal’s sentence, although he and Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) find that Jessica doesn’t quite turn (out) as expected. Trying to solve the mystery behind her most recent vision, Sookie heads to a pie shop with Sam and later puts the squeeze on a philandering police officer to get info. Jason helps clean up Amy’s mess, worrying about their future, but unable to break away. Tara’s anger over Lettie Mae’s refusal to bail her out of jail is tempered when Maryann Forrester (Michelle Forbes), a wealthy “social worker,” comes to her rescue. Disgusted by the hypocrisy of a vamp-bashing state senator, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) decides to pay him a visit on the campaign trail. In Bill’s absence, a vulnerable Sookie finds comfort in Sam. A distraught Jason finds himself in hot water with Bud (William Sanderson) and Andy (Chris Bauer), again.

Miguel offers Dexter a new potential victim, but after properly vetting
her, Dexter isn’t sure she fits the Code. When he informs Miguel of
this, he reacts with anger, making Dexter believe the new friendship is
in danger. An old sickly friend of Dexter’s, Camilla, reinforces this
idea, when she asks Dexter to help end her life, insisting she would
never ask a friend to do something against his conscience. Meanwhile,
Rita finds out that Sylvia is beginning to suspect her husband, Miguel,
is having an affair. Debra ends up revealing to Anton that he is being
used as bait to lure the Skinner, forcing her to find new way to find
the Skinner. As a result, Anton realizes Debra cares for him more than
he thought.
The dance between Dexter and Miguel Prado continues though with a welcome a sub-plot involving the loyal/helpful PD records lady Camilla (Margo Martindale), literally taking her last gasps of life but keeping Dexter hopping in the search for "the perfect Key Lime Pie." There was a break in the overall fever pitch of the screen time between between Miguel and Dex and I'm glad because Jimmy Smits is playing this role very intensely. Gave the audience a little breather--some room to exhale.
Dex continued to fret about their relationship, though--mostly whether if he (Dexter) was doing the right thing, behaving like a friend would. Ultimately, Miguel overstepped in asking Dex to snuff the pesky Ellen Wolf (Anne Ramsay) an outspoken and unconventional public defender. It turned out Ramon's beef with Wolf is purely a clash of egos and Dexter simply tells Miguel "no," she's just doing her job and doesn't meet Dexter's criteria for murder. Though Miguel becomes enraged it is in keeping with his behaviour of late (Sylvia wonders to Rita if Miguel might be having an affair) and he later apologizes to Dex when it appears Wolf has "done the right thing" in capturing one of her scum-ball clients.

No surprise that Dexter has an encryption on his computer.

Dexter, S3, Episode 09-"THE DAMAGE A MAN CAN DO"
Miguel brings Dexter another “project,” but this time he wants to get
his hands dirty. Dexter realizes it’s time to teach Miguel the Code –
for his own safety as well as Miguel’s. As Dexter walks Miguel through
the process, Dexter both struggles with, and enjoys, letting Miguel
into his private world so completely. But Dexter doesn’t realize that
this has only whetted Miguel’s appetite. Rita finds herself losing
control because of the pregnancy. She becomes worried that Dexter may
get fed up with her. Because of her hard work, Debra finds herself one
step closer to catching the Skinner. But after she finds out a secret
about her new boyfriend, Anton, he disappears on her.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Sen. Norm Coleman has
failed in an attempt to block some absentee ballots from being counted in his
close race with Democrat Al Franken. A Ramsey County judge on Saturday denied
the request because of lack of jurisdiction. The incumbent Republican had tried
to block 32 ballots from heavily Democratic Hennepin County. Coleman's campaign
says the ballots were not counted on Election Day or were not kept in sealed
boxes. It says the request was made amid "increasing questions about unexplained
and improbable shifts in vote counts." The most recent vote tally has Coleman
leading Franken by only a couple hundred votes. A recount is planned.
Al Franken ...may have a shot in the Minnesota race for Senate that still hasn't been finalized.
Al Franken got very serious about politics after "Stuart Smalley Saves His Family" lost $10 million at the box office, according to it's star Al Franken, a Democrat. He did much stumping for candidates he supports--especially in his home state of Minnesota and wrote 3 best-selling books books.
I've read some of his stuff. He's bright and he's passionate about the cause (saving the world via Minnesota) and he's amusing and touching even--in that Stuart Smalley way.
Al Franken as Stuart Smalley says, "I am a worthy human being"
and maybe Minnesota thinks he is,too.
"On SNL's
Weekend Update segment in the late 1970s, Al Franken spoofed his ideas
with a familiar line: "Vote for me, Al Franken. You'll be glad you did!"
LOL
This is a very unfortunate situation. California need to define marriage in a more inclusive way. I think there should be a census-like nature to it. The non-heterosexual community should be able to enter into a legal union if they so wish. That's all that "marriage" is. The ceremony, the 2-hour Catholic, The Hawaii Clifftop that's what makes it a wedding. If two people want to hook up for life, why does it matter if they are the same sex or not the same sex? Also, if they are veted as a heterosexual couple is for adoption then why the hell not should they not be able to adopt? I'm not sure if that right was taken too with Prop 8 but there's is talk of it in the US. Bleh. Dictating people's lifestyles--their lives, actually--not cool.

S3 E07 Dexter, S3, Episode 07 "SI SE PUEDE"
Dexter grapples with what to do with his new found friend, Miguel, who thinks he is clued in to Dexter’s vigilante ways. So Dexter decides to test him to see how far he wants to go. Dexter reveals that he’s always wanted to bring a violent white supremacist who is already in jail, to his brand of ‘justice.’ Thinking this will force Miguel to back away, Dexter is surprised to find that Miguel is not only on board, but he has a daring strategy to complete Dexter’s dark plan. Simultaneously, Rita gets fired from her job, leaving her wondering if she will ever have a real career. Debra is upset when she realizes she may be partially responsible for another mysteriously skinned homicide case she’s trying to solve.
The mind games between new friends Dex and Miguel continue with their ongoing game of oneupmanship.
Though Dexter--a serial killer, cannot be considered "a good guy," Miguel Prado may carry even worse demons within him--or perhaps he's simply a demon himself. As ghosts of his past indiscretions as ADA bubble up to the surface he seems less and lesslike one of the good guys fighting to put bad guys away and more like a vicious crusader with his own agenda (yes, that could describe Dex as well).
Deb is crushed to find that 15-y.o Wendell, who she interviewed as a possible witness in re: the Freebo case is now a victim of "The Skinner." Worse, The Skinner seems to be following her investigation very closely and killing those that she interviews.Understandably, she's pretty freaked by this and turns to an unlikely source of comfort--or maybe you saw that coming, :) CI "Anton" (David Ramsey).
From the reviews I've read 'round the Internet some folks think Dexter has gone "flat" (I'm talking to you, Ausiello). I disagree. Again, I raise the point that this is the third season and the newness has worn off. This episode may have lacked some of the edginess that has been characteristic of "Dexter" but the performances, especially by Jennifer Carpenter as Debra (is she getting better each season or what?!) and the reliably great Michael C. Hall as the lead, always make the show worth watching.
At the moment Dex is not feeling the horrible loneliness that has plagued him previously. He's got Rita and the kids (and another on the way) and in Miguel Prado he's found what it's like to have a male buddy--or so he imagines. What Dexter knows for certain is that Miguel knows what he is and doesn't judge him--rather he does the opposite and applauds Dex's avenging persona.
We the audience know that this cannot end well--but how will it end?
"Dexter" the show is still quite compelling and if the naysayers want to settle in with their commercial television instead--more power to them. I'm sticking with Dexter.

Miguel offers Dexter a new potential victim, but after properly vetting her, Dexter isn’t sure she fits the Code. When he informs Miguel of this, he reacts with anger, making Dexter believe the new friendship is in danger. An old sickly friend of Dexter’s, Camilla, reinforces this idea, when she asks Dexter to help end her life, insisting she would never ask a friend to do something against his conscience. Meanwhile, Rita finds out that Sylvia is beginning to suspect her husband, Miguel, is having an affair. Debra ends up revealing to Anton that he is being used as bait to lure the Skinner, forcing her to find new way to find the Skinner. As a result, Anton realizes Debra cares for him more than he thought.
Doesn't everything electronic that has video need some type of video card? A quick Wikipedia check says that a video card is also know as a display adapter and graphics accelerator, as well as other terms. A video card refers to a dedicated expansion card. OK, this is the first point I think I really "got." You need to use an expansion card as a hardware add-on with the function of generating and outputing images to a display. Nifty, huh?

I guess, depending on who you are and what you believe our long national nightmare shall soon be over. (Apologies to Gerald Ford.) I can't bear to watch the news right now as almost every word that I hear out of the common folk sounds like complete idiocy me. But I suppose we reap what we sow, and depending on the outcome--the one that I hope happens--perhaps there will indeed be hope for the future of this country.
Apologies to the rest of the world for having to witness the political circus conducted over the past 2 years. It couldn't have been pleasant for you.
Bill breaks a vampire taboo in protecting Sookie--and must pay a steep
price as a result. Jason and Amy break their own taboo by kidnapping a
vampire named Eddie in order to harvest his blood. With Lettie Mae
apparently cured, a skeptical Tara consults with Miss Jeanette about
exorcising her own inner demon. Sookie returns home to yet another
horrific tragedy, prompting Bill to enlist an unlikely
bodyguard--Sam--to protect her while he's away.

"Humans. Honestly Bill, I don't know what you see in them." -Eric
"You've got vampire in your cleavage."- Pam to a bloodsoaked Sookie
"What's your game?"- "Chow," the new Fangtasia bartender after interrupting Bills Wii-like game of golf.
Episode 9 opens with bartender vampire Longshadow trying to throttle Sookie, as she was poised to finger him as the thief at Fangtasia.
Bill reacts by snapping off a beer tap and staking Longshadow from behind.
Longshadow spews blood all over Sookie, evoking a
"Carrie" moment as she ends up bloodied from head to toe.
Eric and Pam impassively watch, deadpan looks on both their faces as the bartenders turns into a pile of goo.
Ginger,
the human employee whose thoughts lead Sookie to Longshadow, cleans up
the disgusting remains, freaked out and muttering prayers. Eric and Pam
come to the conclusion that despite Ginger having been heavily glamoured already by Longshadow, Pam will again do so as she is not desperate enough to turn Ginger.
While Sookie is in the ladies room attempting to clean up, Bill and Eric have a chat about what has transpired with Eric agreeing that he
would have made Longshadow pay, but not in front of other vampires. He tells Bill that there will be serious consequences.
Jason
and Amy drive with vampire Eddie in the back of his pickup truck. He freaks out because of what they are doing but Amy tells him to take a chill pill.
Jason and Amy
carry Eddie into Jason's basement. Both Jason and
Eddie want to know what Amy has planned as she ties him to a lawn chair
and drains Eddie's blood. She tries to settle down Jason with the fresh "V" blood, but
he's unnerved. Amy drinks it out of a thimble with Jason watching her as she begins tripping happily, urging him to join her. Jason relents, his urge for the drug overruling his anxieties. Eddie tells him not too, but Jason gets all macho and tells him to eff-off.
Pam brings Sookie a change of clothes--black leather. She tells Sookie that she got vampire in her cleavage and offer to retrieve it. Sookie allows her and thank hers for doing so. Pam murmurs that she can she what Bill likes about Sookie. Ginger, obviously glamoured, enters and acts as if she's meeting Sookie for the first time.
Tara
tries to get exorcism answers. She gets a quote from Miss
Jeanette: $799.95, because
Tara's demon is worse than her mother's. The exorcist tells Tara not to wait,
her loneliness is spreading to her eyes. She tells her to count
backwards from 10 when she's alone to see if she can stand herself.
(It seems to me that Tara is completely getting played.)
Bill
brings Sookie home, dressed in leather. He tells her everything's fine
with Eric, but at home, it isn't. There's blood on the walls and
Sookie's cat is hanging from the ceiling fan.
Bill spoons with Sookie,
clothed on the bed. He tells her he'll protect her because the trouble
she's in is his fault. She says it's hers because she chose it and she couldn't look him in the face if she believed all the mayhem in her life his fault. When she
closes her eyes to sleep Sookie sees her bloodied grandmother and startles awake.
Jason and Amy having frolicked in the nude on V in front of Eddie the vampire now frolic in Jason's backyard this time not having sex, nor high on V, but eating "raw." Jason frets that someone will hear Eddie's screams
from the basement. He thinks they should feed him because he's worried
Eddie is going to die. "So what?" says Amy.
Her plan is that things will work out because they have to. She
deserves to have something good happen, she says. She tells Jason she
loves him. After hedging and grabbing a beer, Jason tells her he loves her, too.
Bill is
golfing. Is it a dream? No it's a Wii-like game.
The doorbell rings, interrupting his game. Eric, Pam and Chow, Longshadow's
replacement, have come to escort him to his tribunal. Bill insists on stopping by Merlotte's to tell Sookie he'll
be gone for a while.
Bill
and his entourage arrive at Merlotte's. Bill
tells Sam he's been called away and he needs Sam to watch over Sookie.
Sam's not happy Bill's asking, but he'll do it "for Sookie." Eric and Pam pass out brochures for Fangtasia. Eric announces that vampires know when a human has wronged them.
Amy looks very guilty but the gang who torched the vampire's house is in the bar as swell and Eric's attention is fixed on them. Bill
tells Sookie he has to stand trial. She realizes he lied to her about
everything being OK. Sookie's upset he has to leave, crying as she
kisses him good-bye.
Sam asks Amy where Sookie
is. When she tells him, he runs out, but is stopped in the parking lot by an increasingly
suspicious Andy Bellefleur. He calls Sam on his naturalist
story and says they need to talk. Sam says he forgot something in the
bar and will be right back. A few moments later the dog who watches over Sookie runs out and on by Andy. Seconds
later the dog is at Bill's front door. Sookie has nervously driven to Bill's empty house and is greeted by the dog who she welcomes with relief as the night's companion, bringing him inside with her and naming him "Dean." She invites him on the bed with her and though he hesitates at first she insists and he settles in at the foot of the bed.
Jason returns home with beer and unsurprisingly given his worries about Eddie dying, brings Tru Blood too which he swiftly feeds to Eddie through a straw.
Sookie
wakes up in the middle of the night, complaining that Dean is being a bed hog. She sits up to not to see the friendly dog but instead to see Sam curled up, naked. Sookie screams.

“And
I swore I’d be in Chicago tomorrow, and made sure of that, taking a bus
to Chicago, spending most of my money, and didn’t give a damn, just as
long as I’d be in Chicago tomorrow.”
It's enlightening to hear what Americans with the privilege of voting and electing the leader of your country have to say.
I've lived in the States a long time and opted to not renounce allegiance to Canada in order to have your privilege.
Just the same I've followed the past couple of elections and been active to one degree or another in an attempt to effect positive change.
I'm pretty appalled at some the comments I've heard Americans make today. I hope they were made out of simple ignorance and the individuals who made them opt to sit this one out.
The national polls have all consolidated
into a range of roughly Obama +7. That is right about where our model
sees the race as well, giving Obama a 6.8 point advantage in its
composite of state and national polling. Our model notes, however, that
candidates with large leads in the polls have had some tendency to
underperform marginally on election day, and so projects an Obama win
of 6.0 points tomorrow.(thanks to 538.com)
"Readers have heard plenty about the grim prospects for Pushing Daisies, but fans of Dirty Sexy Money and Eli Stone should start worrying in earnest. They’ve both dropped into the extreme danger zone of our Renew / Cancel Index."
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on ABC
"The Silence" - As Election Day nears, senatorial candidate Patrick insists to a disapproving Tripp that he wants to take his relationship public with his transgendered mistress, Carmelita. Meanwhile Ellen's brother, Chase, shows up and demands from Patrick the truth about his sister's death. In other developments, Nick and Lisa are in couples therapy; Jeremy asks Nola to ease Letitia's house arrest so she can go to Patrick's election night party; Brian Jr. goes missing, and, at Karen's request, Nick talks to Simon about his real motive for wanting to marry her.
This episode,"The Silence" was a train wreck.
There was not one single moment* I could pick from it that I liked.
I can tell you a number of things I didn't like, however.
First, lets talk about what they are doing to the character of Nick George (Peter Krause).
Who the hell is this guy? I know the showrunners said that this season Nick George would be more tempted by the nefarious influences of the Darlings--but he's turned into a complete ass monkey.
That scene at lunch where he was to have "special time," with Lisa (Zoe McLellan) as recommended by their couples counselor? I ask again, Who Was That?! Was that Hypocritical Nick George? Controlling Bastard Husband Nick George? Trying to act Like His Brother Brian, Nick George?
Lisa had asked Nick for his permission for her to have Jeremy Darling's (Seth Gabel) name on the lease for a chi-chi art gallery which she couldn't get without out a "name" partner. The scene was almost surreal in that she explained quite clearly what was her heart's desire and Nick did not even listen. He put on his stony face and refused to budge--and it was so far removed from the Nick we used to know they may have been writing for a different character. In fact, they seem to have written both Darling nemesis Simon Elder (Blair Underwood) and Nick as the same character in separate bodies. UGH.
Letita Darling (Jill Clayburgh) now walks around cocktail glass in hand, in a constant state of inebriation. Are we supposed to be getting that she is frail because that's all we know about her essentially. She's fragile and she cheated on her husband for nearly forty years with Nick George's dad.
BTW, the driving premise of the show in S1 was Nick trying to find out who killed his father. That seems to only be a peripheral concern at best, now.
Patriarch Tripp Darling (Donald Sutherland) is simply becoming a one-note character. He's spewing forth the same set routine no matter to whom he's addressing it. *The one thing he said that resonated with me was when Sutherland, a Canadian by birth, pronounced "about" as "aboot."
Carmelita. I was really looking forward to Candis Cayne returning because she gives the show a shot of vitality but they barely used her and by episode's end she was leaving again because she found out the truth about "Paddy's" (William Baldwin as Patrick Darling) dead wife's "burial." <shakes head>
To wrap up I am so, so sick of Brian Darling's (Glenn Fitzgerald) woes with his ex-girlfriend (Sheryl Lee), the mother of his son. It's as if everything out of their mouth's is on a loop. It's the same ol', same ol' every week.
Too bad about this show. They had a great start this season but Dirty Sexy Money has, at almost blinding speed, gone to complete crap.
I give up. No more DSM for me.
