True Blood Season 5: Cast Favorite Moments VIDEO:
(Don't miss season 5 of True Blood on Sunday nights at 9PM.)
OMG. It's too hard to pick a favourite scene from the entire series! How about one from each season? Wait. Nope. That's too hard too!
Season 1, episode 12 in the cemetery after Sookie survives Rene's attempt on her life but not before Bill has gone out into the full sunlight in an attempt to save her. Ultimately, a combination of Sam and Sookie take out Rene. Bill is burned to a crisp; Sam realizes that they must get him underground so he gingerly picks him up and deposits him in a freshly-dug grave. As Sookie weeps, Sam buries Bill. Now, Sam literally hates Bill for being a vampire but for Sookie's sake, he does his best to save Bill. At that moment, I really saw the depth of love that Sam has for Sookie. It sounds odd but the gesture was incredibly sweet and meaningful.
There are many more. I'd love to hear about your favourite scene(s) from True Blood!
Q: I still can't believe Tara is a vampire! Any scoop on what's coming up for her on TRUE BLOOD? A: Sookie and Lafayette will certainly have their hands full this week, but lest we forget, Pam is her maker, albeit begrudgingly. Still, there may be opportunities for Tara to find allies in the vampire world. They may have been sparring in Sunday's promo, but Jessica and Tara could find a friendship. "Jessica is very lonely," Deborah Ann Woll tells us. "She's looking everywhere she can for someone to understand her and maybe there's an opportunity there with Tara."
Q: I absolutely loved the True Blood premiere! Any scoop on what's coming up in Bon Temps? A: Jason Stackhouse fans, prepare yourselves for some pretty bad news courtesy of True Blood stud Ryan Kwanten. "Jason's going to be lucky to survive. In fact, he may not survive this season," he teases. "It's been a rather brutal season for Jason." True Blood without Jason? We shudder at the thought!
Just a thought. Despite the True Blood teevee show veering away from the Sookie Stackhouse novels, perhaps if Jason dies, Kwanten will remain--as a twin faerie verson of himself. He _does_ exist in the books--and he looks exactly like Jason Stackhouse and we already know there will be faeries in True Blood season 5.
TRUE BLOOD Season 3 Episode 9 "Everything is Broken" ERIC NORTHMAN (Alexander Skarsgård) is interrogated by the The Vampire Authorty (VIDEO) (HBO):
Russell will eat us after he eats our children... True Blood - 3x09 - 'Everything Is Broken' - Official HBO Recap:
Russell makes headlines in the latest episode. Watch the Recap.
Since we know that TRUE BLOOD Season 5 will have an emphasis that goes heavy on the previously barely-knownVampire Authority(we mostly knew of them through the now-truly dead "Nan Flanagan") and that will include the return of Russell Edgington, I thought it would be fun to revisit the episode that featured them both most heavily: True Blood - 3x09 - 'Everything Is Broken'.
True Blood Moments: Eric's panic (S3E09): The V-Squad is about to bust in...
Eric, Pam and Ginger with the V-Patrol busting down their door:
TRUE BLOOD - EPISODE 3.09 - 'Everything Is Broken' was not the best eppy of True Blood ever. But there were still some truly solid scenes. I've got a lots of screencaps as well as some great VIDEO scenes from the episode. Enjoy!
This episode did feel sort of choppy. It lacked cohesion as well as the thrills and chills of the previous 2 eppys. Yet Nan Flanagan (Jessica Tuck) was a hoot. We got lots of Pam candy not to mention Pam crying. Crying! Over the prospect of her maker, Eric being punished by death when the Vampire Authority rendered it's opinion about his (mis)deeds. So sweet the way he held her head on his chest like the child (of his) she is. We also had Nan revealing her true colours, not mainstreaming.
JESSICA TUCK AS Vampire Authority rep., Nan Flanagan, storms Fangtasia and interrogates Eric & Co.. And she brought friends.
Good ole Jason proved that wooden bullets actually work! Almost made up for the Crystal storyline which has really been dragging. Vampire Bill going to the land of the Fae was pretty cool. Surprised the heck out of Claudine. She handled it well while he bungled it completely. The fact is, Bill will steal Sookie's light if she stays with him--any dead guy will.
Nan Flanagan goes to Fangtasia for answers about the Magister's whereabouts. Bill gets to the bottom of Sookie's real identity. Jason finds an unlikely ally in his feud with Felton and Calvin. Arlene has a pessimistic view of her husband. ' (AUGUST 15TH 2010)
Claudine not at all trusting or believing Bill's proclamation that he loves Sookie and 'would never harm her.'

Sookie and Bill: 'I'm a faery!?!' True Blood 3.09 Screencaps (HBO):
Some news I'd missed from TvGuide Magazine after the jump: A tie breaking opportunity for the two vamps will come soon, when Sookie learns a secret about herself. It’s the answer to “What are you?,” the question Bill asked Sookie the first day they met.
“It complicates issues,” says showrunner Alan Ball, adding that the discovery will have a major impact on all her romantic relationships. “It makes Sookie question a lot. She has moments where she’s like, ‘I’ve had it with vampires.’” Does that mean Alcide has a chance? Yep! “When you’re fighting for your life, and everything you’ve taken for granted is revealed as something else than what you thought, and there’s an insanely hot person next to you, there is definitely going to be energy,” says Ball, of the growing affection between the two. Adds Paquin, “They find comfort in each other. Plus, he’s big and he’s strong and he’s warm.” As season 3 winds down, expect more twists than a backcountry dirt road. The biggest may come from Sookie when she discovers just how dark passion can be. “Sookie started off the show as a virgin,” Ball says. “But we’ll see a whole new side of her. Had she seen that side back then, she, herself, would have been shocked.” And that’s not the only thing that will shake Sookie up. “Toward the end of the season, she’s not really concerned about “Who am I going to pick?’ She’s more concerned about evading forces that want her for reasons I can’t disclose,” says Ball.
True Blood Season 5: Echoes Of The Past - "Merlotte's ..." (HBO) VIDEO:
The True Blood publicity machine must be overwhelmed by the Game of Thrones people cranking out sneak peek/teaser videos 'cos Merlotte's is not a 'house,' rather is is the Bon Temps local watering hole a/k/a Sam Merlotte's bar. Anyhoo, last night the Merlotte's "voices' video was released and it, like the previous three (below) has snippets of converstaons/exclamations that took place in this case, at Merlotte's in season's 1 - 4. Enjoy.
Colour me a tiny bit surprised by this trio of just-released True Blood Season 5 trailers. Each video focuses on a particular setting--Sookie's home, Eric & Pam's 'home', Fangtasia, and Bill's house. Over the four season of True Blood a lot has happened in these settings. The only one 'left out' is Merlotte's (Sam's bar) which has seen an equivalent amount of 'happenings, IMO. Small quibble, though. These teasers recap the entire series via 'tours' of each location with voice-overs from many of the cast. What they say illustrates seemingly innocuous comments like Sookie's first utterances about meeting Bill to Nan Flanagan's last utterance before she met her 'true death' (and a lot in-between so be sure to watch them!)

The new season of True Blood premieres on June 26th only on HBO.
Here are a couple of screenshots which I maintain positively show Bill (Stephen Moyer) using his vampire super-speed to leave Queen Sophie- Anne (Evan Rachel Wood) behind instead of waging a battle--which he would surely lose--with her. I don't know, obv., if Bill locks her in and burns down the place or runs away or what...but he leaves (and his home in the new season is completely refinished or rebuilt). My guess is that the 'fight' between Vampire Bill and Queen Sophie-Anne is very short.
Check out the sceencaps from this scene and from the other characters cliffhangers!:
Seems a foregone conclusion--Bill is going to leave the Queen behind--and destroy the mansion!
More True Blood Season 3 Cliffhangers Are After the jump!:
The Digging Up Season 3 HBO special which, at the VERY end included teasers/spoilers for Season 4 of True Blood is worth a closer, second look:
True Blood: Watch FULL 20 Minute VIDEO 'Digging Up Season 3' NOW!
In the special, some of the cast members recapped what happened during the last season (Season 3) in a helpful effort to entice fans to watch season 4. Or, for those of us too cheap to buy the DVD or perhaps consider that seeing the season once was enough, yet we still don't want to forget stuff when season 4 premieres on HBO on June 26.
At the end of the Season 3 recap we were offered yet another sneak peak at Season 4 in HBO's ongoing effort to staunch #TBWithdrawalknowing that #WaitingSucks. Notably absent was commentary from TB stars Anna Paquin (SookieStackhouse), Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton) and Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte).
Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica Hamby) opines that'Season 4 is about everyone’s true identities being revealed.' Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette Reynolds)'reveals' that Lafayette enters a new world that he has never seen before (and that says a lot for Lala!). Alexander Skarsgård (Eric Northman) says we will see a 'brand new Eric' in Season 4. (Duh,duh, dun! The Viking is still gonna have that SPOILER! amnesiac episode(!) Kristin Bauer van Straten (Pam de Beaufort) tells us that there will be 'diresituations. (Kudos to Ms. Bauer van Straten for refraining from hyperbole--no small task when you are 'hyping' True Blood.)
Ryan Kwanten (Jason Stackhouse) says there will be a 'lot more blood and a lot more sex this season....just like people expect of True Blood' (slight paraphrase). Rutina Wesley (Tara Thornton) says we may see 'some happiness for a while,'... but that it 'won’t last...because this is True Blood.'
Ms. Wesley has said this before in re: season 4 about her character, Tara Thornton. Poor Rutina seems absolutely unenthused about True Blood season 4. Can you blame her? Can't blame Ryan Kwanten, either for summing up the show's appeal as 'sex and blood,' as his character is best known for having sex and getting his arse kicked, literally & figuratively.
No more talk of the 'greatwriting and fantastic cast', guys?
Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), Season 3 Finale: Abducted by The Fae (fairies)?
True Blood: Faery Tales!:
Hey Truebies. There's not a whole lot of substance to today's True Blood nugget o' info on Season 4 (start date 6.12.11) but what there is sounds...almost magical!
TV Guide spills just a trickle about Sookie Stackhouse's relatives:
Here's one thing you can be sure of: Faeries can't be turned into vampires. (Vampires just think their blood is mighty tasty and helpful for sun-bathing.) But executive producer Alan Ball reveals something else that fairies can do: "They can abduct humans and take them somewhere else that is not here," he says. "Just like aliens."
OK, so maybe die-hard True Blood fans sort of knew this already (Alan Ball revealed this some time ago) but it doesn't hurt that the TV critics are getting up to speed, right?
It seems a stretch but could Tara have met the same fate as Sookie--being 'taken' by faeries? Rutina Wesley (Tara) has said that Season 4 brings a 'whole new Tara.' Could the influence of The Fae (as fairies are referred to in True Blood) help bring about Tara's change?
Just a thought. When humans are 'abducted,' are they seducted by The Fae into willingly being 'abducted' as Sookie seemed to be in the Season 3 finale?
Doll in Jessica & Hoyt's New House Has Baggage, says Alan Ball:
I've turned up the backlight in this True Blood HBO copyright screen shot of the 'doll' on the floor of Jessica & Hoyt's new house. This is the last scene of season 3 in which we see True Blood's favourite young couple.
The doll definitely has some type of beads around it's torso. What significance do you think they have?
From TVGuide comes one of the creepiest spoilers yet! TVGUIDE (in answer to a request for True Blood Spoilers:
Remember that creepy doll we saw at Jessica and Hoyt's new home in the season finale? "I can tell you that the doll is more than just a doll," executive producer Alan Ball tells us. "That doll has a passenger."
Oh, crap. Dolls are inherently creepy but a 'doll with a passenger'...on True Blood(!)? That sounds really, really bad. Wonder what shenanigans it is going to get into during the day while Jessica sleeps and Hoyt is away at work. That thing will have way too much time on it's hands (does it even have hands?)
Here's a really nicely done recap of True Blood season 1 -3. It caught my fancy so I thought I'd share.
Sookie Stackhouse Home on True Blood Set - Where Reality and Fantasy Meet:
Very interesting little piece over at the HBO True Blood series' production blog which provides a neat glimpse into the place--the Stackhouse home--where reality and fantasty blur. Check it out in the link below as well as this sweet comment from True Blood showrunner/creator Alan Ball:
This (here) is a shot of Alan Ball's mom from the 1930s. "I like having her on set," Alan said, "there is a picture of my mom and dad and brothers on the piano, and my Uncle Bud is over the fireplace in the dining room."

I also have an album of detailed photos that were previously released of the Stackhouse home's interior as well as a few shots of both the exterior and Bill's home: Sookie's home - before the Maenad.

True Blood Season 4 Jessica and Hoyt: 'The honeymoon's over.' (Alan Ball)
Q: Will Denis O'Hare be back on the new season True Blood?
A: It sure sound(ed) like it because sources (say) that there will be a big storyline in which we see vampire attacks on YouTube—which is classic Russell Edgington, no?
However, it turns out it's not Russell, but rather an underground filmmaker who is capturing various vamps on video and then posting on YouTube for the world to see. Needless to say, this is not going to improve relations between the bloodsuckers and conservatives of the True Blood world.
As for Denis,... he is expected back at some point but so far no 'concrete plans', i.e. contract, in place. Maybe another season or two. (Or never--geez what a lame-o 'news' item! CM)
Q: More True Blood spoilers, please!
A: In an early episode, Pam is going to get a "hot and stupid" sack o' meat to chew on who actually enjoys being bitten. And Tommy will get an intriguing offer from a prospector. Producers are also casting a Spanish-speaking badass chiquita who'll be a recurring role in episodes two through six.
True Blood's season 4 episode 3, entitled 'If You Love Me, Why Am I Dyin’? includes seven guest roles. Some of these were already mentioned in E! Online’s spoiler chat (see link just a few lines above). Episode 3 begins filming next week.
Character descriptions:
Antonia: a recurring role that runs episode 2 through episode 6. Age is anywhere 'from 20 to 40," fluent Spanish, and is “fierce” in nature. Kevin Alejandro, who as 'Jesus' is moving to featured status in s4 will probably need a couple of family members...
A 'generic' vampire, a pudgy young woman in her 20s, and a camera operator are all being cast as part of an 'underground You Tube video' that depicts the vampire feeding on the woman.
Camera operator: Also in his 20s and is on a mission to warn America about vampires by showing their true colors. It appears that he entraps the vampires by filming them, leaving the vamp desperate to avoid exposure.
Pam will enjoy snacking on a fangbanger, who definitely enjoys being snacked on and is disappointed when she takes off.
Nan Flanagan will debate a a bow tie clad 'smug conservative f*ck' .
Tommy encounters Paul McClatchy, a “prospector” who works for an energy company and makes Tommy an intriguing offer.

True Blood took home some of the highest honours given out at the 5th annual Spike Scream Awards on Oct 16. I'll have some more details later but the winners and some comments they made when accepting are below.
QUOTEWORTHY
Alan Ball as he accepted the Best Television Show Award: "One question I get asked a lot is why do people like vampires so much, and I have no f***ing idea."
Haha. Love Alan Ball. Every time he opens his mouth what he says is quote-worthy.
Steven Moyer as he accepted "Holy Sh!t Scene of the Year" for True Blood - Twisted Sex : "I don't know what all the fuss is about. Doesn't everyone have sex like that?"
Steve is another walking quote machine. So witty. And extra super-cute without the vampire makeup.

I've been a science fiction and fantasy fan since age 4 (Twilight Zone, Outer Limits) as well as "horror" if it's done with humour (think Eric Northman of True Blood, season 2 in his dungeon going all primal on a redneck who has just "(done) silver to (him)," then immediately switching gears to consulting with the shackled and terrified Lafayette worrying if his highlights foils got blood in them, fretting that "Pam is going to kill me," so I think its fantastic that media for this genre is being singled out and recognized for excellence. I hate to complain but I have to state that SPIKE TV needs to become more inclusive about "who" is in their demographic. I've read that in the past few years the number of women enjoying the Sci-fi/Fantasy/Horror genre has skyrocketed from 10% to almost 50%. Obviously, True Blood has had a lot to do with this as well as those "other" vamp series both on film and TV (wisely labeled "fantasy" at the Spike Awards).
I never thought that science fiction or fantasy belonged to guys. I just knew that there were not too many girls with my tastes in superheroes, film and television shows. As an adult, other than once a year, I never watch SPIKE TV because they make such a whoop-de-do deal about being for guys. I think they should wise up, look at the female faces in their audience and then take the logical next step. Programming guys, are you listening? Otherwise, I'd like to see a basic cable network that already knows what the girls like, SyFy, pick up the slack and get it's own awards show going.
True Blood Star Joe Manganiello whose beautiful brown peepers, shock of just-out-of-bed raven hair, and sculpted (6'5") slab of beefcake body and nice-guy demeanour Truebies are looking forward to in his move to series regular in True Blood Season 4, is slated to appear at the
OperaUltra Lounge, formerly Theatro during it's inaugural weekend on Saturday, Oct 23, at an event advertised as a "True Blood Party."
The club is located in the West Loop at 858 W. Lake St., Chicago (Tel: (312) 455-2776).
OperaUltra Lounge is a bit of a mystery with only what it's former incarnation and it's present presentation cluing us in to what the club might be like.
In the space that OperaUltra Lounge now occupies was "Theatro," for which I've pasted in a snippet of it's description:
Editorial Review of Theatro NOW CLOSED...
Formerly: Head to the theater on a Friday or Saturday night — only, this isn't the type of performance your grandmother would fancy. This new club/lounge in the West Loop was inspired somewhat by the mansion scene in the Tom Cruise-Nicole Kidman flick "Eyes Wide Shut" (you know, the scene with all the ... ahem ... masks).
Of course, no actual swingers sex is allowed. Gothic meets chic at Theatro, in the former home of Reserve. But don't waste your time studying the decadent chandeliers or the gold-plated masks on the wall behind the DJ. And never mind the nearly dozen bouncers built like Mack trucks. The real entertainment is the actresses.
Sexy waitresses in short black dresses behind the long bar serve a host of fancy cocktails. Or take your bottle and your posse to the large black leather banquettes. Make sure you can see the glass-enclosed stage at the center of the club. Every 45 minutes or so the blinds will be pulled up, revealing the evening's entertainment. A juggler? A fire-eater? A trans-gender diva? Every weekend is a surprise...
[caption id="attachment_9823" align="aligncenter" width="521" caption="Joe Manganiello scheduled for opening weekend True Blood Party at OperaUltra Lounge in Chicago on October 23, 2010"][/caption]
I'm guessing based on Joe's come-hither pose and porn actress Sasha Grey's...photo (below) that the new club may not be hugely different than the old.
The only catch I can see with having a True Blood party at an adult club is that quite a few Truebies have not hit age 21 yet and so would be shut out of this event.
I would love to go to see and hopefully meet Joe because he seems like the nicest of guys and I'd be thrilled to finally attend a True Blood event here in the great Midwest. But since many Truebies could not go due to age restrictions I'm wondering if Joe might meet up at an all-ages spot for a short while-- maybe before the event? Just took a look and there are some good choices within a couple of blocks of OperaUltra Lounge. Veerasway looks like a good one with an Indian-American fusion thing going and lots of yummy non-alcoholic drinks and a price range where one could get in and out for under $15. It's only a 15-minute walk to public transportation (train station) and yes, if I sound like a cheap date it's because I am. It's the company that count. And besides, I'm not really cheap, just frugal. ;)
So to the swoon-inducing Mr. Manganiello, if you truly are making a featured True Blood appearance in Chicago on October 22 would you consider an informal drop-by in a spot where ALL your fans can say hello? As much as we'd love to, not all of us have the big bucks that one needs to partake in the pleasures of a fancy Chicago nightclub and/or are age 21. We'd love to cheer you on though!

Anna Paquin in True Blood Episode 36 - Evil (Is Going On) - Sookie at Gran's grave (Credit: HBO)
After mulling it over for a couple of weeks I chose to read some of the reviews that have been offered up since True Blood - Season 3 ended.
Beyond the Ken Tucker review ‘True Blood’ season finale review: ‘Evil Is Going On,’ and on, and on… , which he published right after the show aired and which I linked to, I hadn't read any reviews or recaps until the last few days. Next to Tucker's, I found the best* one here. (*By best I mean more review-like in the old school sense of not being emotionally involved but rather assessing the episode in a non-partisan manner, providing some insights. Maybe I'm getting confused about "recaps" & "reviews" but if so, there seems to be a lot of overlap no matter where I read about the show.)
True Blood fans and critics can be extremely outspoken about the show and IMO, that is a testament to how great it is. Many fans had reactions to the last half of season 3 through the finale that range from bitterly disappointed to angry to perplexed to worried to feeling betrayed, let down...it goes on...and on...and on. For the critics, the majority of whom seem to have climbed on the the True Blood train because they were told to, it was easy to savage the show. In some ways it feels like they were champing at the bit from the get-go to really lay into True Blood and spit as much vitriol at it as they could. And they sure did.
But what some critics, as well as the folks unfamiliar with Seasons 1 and 2 (sometimes the same individuals) fail to get is that True Blood is a picture in the making. It is unfinished and therefore in some ways feels incomplete. I believe creator Alan Ball was concerned enough about the possible reaction from both critics and fans alike that his "just wait until season 4 video" was construed especially that reason.
I sat through one "bad" season each of both The Sopranos and Ball's previous premium cable show, Six Feet Under (it rant for 6 yrs., total). I think I loved the series ending of Six Feet Under more than any other television show ending ever. Point is, both shows went on to produce more seasons and they were mostly good-to-great seasons. Another complicating factor for assessing how "good" True Blood is and which is constantly hashed over, happens when one watches the HBO premium television show True Blood through the lens of having read the Sookie Stackhouse book series a/k/a "The Southern Gothic Mysteries" by Charlaine Harris (which so 'ya know, I did during season one of True Blood and since. I keep them separate just as both Harris and Ball have asked the audience(s) to do. Not hard for me as I have a short memory for most books I read years ago). The books are written from Sookie's POV only but the show, which features Sookie as the central character, ventures further into other character's hearts and minds. This is Alan Ball's vision, not Charlaine Harris's which is how it should be. Harris sold the rights to her Sookie Stackhouse series to HBO/Alan Ball to develop into a television series. She has and will continue to express her vision for Sookie through her books. The farther we get into Alan Ball's head (so to speak) the crazier this show may become because AB is a boundary-pusher. He is unafraid to try things that may fail instead of playing it safe and never venturing far enough as many shows do, to be able to reach an unforgettable place.
OK. I think I can rest my case about why I'm unconcerned about how AB chose to end True Blood Season 3 and I'm totally jazzed about season 4. Can't wait to start hearing more about it!
Lara Pulver --"Sookie's faery godmother. Love her accent.
Here's someone who will be featured in S4. Recurring or featured I'm not clear on, yet. Lara Pulver's ethereal quality/looks make her a perfect Claudine.
Here are some of my favourite moments from Season 3. EDIT/ If you have some faves, I' d love to hear about them. Mine are going to take a while to finish.
Russell Edgington (Denis O'Hare) and 'Sookie' (Anna Paquin) in True Blood (Credit: HBO)
Here Sookie torments the charred Russell Edgington who has been quite cruel to her and those she loves (Tara via Franklin, Bill). Even more, Sookie has heard Russell's demonic laugh when something goes terribly wrong for someone else including Sookie herself. Have the fans who are up in arms because Sookie laughed maniacally as she poured Talbot's gooey remains down the disposal considered that she was dishing back to him what he put forth? Not good enough? OK. How about the equally likely possibility that Sookie has ingested so much vampire blood after nearly being drained twice in a matter of what, a week, that she's not exactly herself? Or, since we are on Bon Temps time which moves very slowly she's been through enough in roughly 8 weeks (3 seasons) to drive the most sane person to do things that they otherwise would not do? OK. One more and I admit this one I hadn't fully formed an opinion on until I saw the idea floated elsewhere (see link above)
POSSIBLE SPOILER. You gotta know that faeries are not all sweetness and light. Take a look at the near-identical expression on Claudine's (Lara Pulver) face when she knocks the attacking Bill (Stephen Moyer) on his ass.

In the wake of Russell Edgington's on-air TV spine-ripping-the anchorman-stunt it looks like Steve Newlin has found the perfect time to market his wooden-bullet rifles (whose usefulness was so ably demonstrated by Jason on Tara-abusing vampire Franklin Mott).
True Blood - 3x12 - 'Evil is Going On' Season Finale Screen Caps
Here's my list of what went right in True Blood Season 3 and after that, what didn't:
The Good & Great
Lorena (Marian Klaveno) truly fulfilled expectations and beyond. Fun to watch and almost pitiable at times (almost) in her need for her "drug of choice" her progeny, Vampire Bill. She was perfectly cast as a vampire out of her time and almost out of her mind. RIP Lorena.
Denis O'Hare as King of Mississippi Russell Edgington was another perfect casting choice. Stage veteran O'Hare brought a zany, over-the-top quality to the ruthless king of Mississippi. Mad as a hatter yet still deeply conniving, he is probably not done with our heroes quite yet. (Note: IMO, Edgington had to have made in his 3000 years, other progeny in addition to Talbot. Some most likely survive. They would feel his distress if not get an outright mental summons as Pam does from Eric and save him from the truly lame solution that Eric and Bill came up with to not kill Russell (WTH?!).
Speaking of "our heroes" or True Blood's version of the "good guys," the promotion of the beautiful deadpan doll Pam played by Kristen Bauer van Straten, to featured cast status breathed new life (unintended pun) into all things Fangtasia. Quite a bit of her background was touched on including that she is only about 100 years old (younger/weaker than Vampire Bill), that she will go to any length to protect her maker, Eric--even if it means her own demise (fortunately, it did not), she is a former prostitute ("a long time ago") and "Pamela Swinford de Beaufort" is the sole recipient of Eric's property should he meet the true death. On a fashion note, as the season wound down, Pam was seen wearing a great deal less pink though she was still very fashionable. I'm wondering if the visual joke of "Pam in pink" is being put to rest? If so, OK by me --just don't ever ditch Eric's track suits & flip flops!
Most of the wolf-Russell storyline worked well. Certainly the guest actors like Grant Bowles ("Cooter") and Don Swayze ("Gus") contributed much.
The Queen (Evan Rachel Wood) was used to much greater effect this year once she was hauled out of her Art Deco "palace." Probably my favourite scene involving the Queen takes place in Eric's dungeon when alongside the (until now) always-unflappable Pam she gasped in utter shock when, with one stroke of his silver-tipped cane, Russell beheaded the unyielding Magister.
James Frain as the completely bonkers and very violent vampire Franklin Mott. Despite his insanity he knew how to get things done which explained the King's tolerance of him. Just the same he had it coming when, in the "too-much talking" phase of his almost-kill of his unwilling, almost-vampire bride Tara, he was discovered by Jason who wielded a wooden bullet-shooting rifle. Franklin found Jason most amusing, not realizing that his were not regular bullets which would have only temporarily injured him. Blam! One shot to the heart and Franklin was a puddle of goo.
Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello). Alcide did not have much to do this season other than look very hunky and help rescue Tara, Sookie & Bill from King Russell. He also, at her behest, escorted Sookie in her quest to "find Bill," to his ex-gf, Debbie Pelt's engagement party at a were biker bar. She was to wed top wolf, "Cooter." Later in the season, in self-defense during the Bill-Sookie-Tara rescue, Alcide killed Cooter, leading to Debbie's lament,"They killed my Cooter!"
Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) and Hoyt (Jim Parrack). Yes, Hoyt is at least ten years older than Jessica (the actors themselves are but a few years apart in age IRL, I think). If you listened closely, at Merlotte's while talking to Sam(?) Jessica mentioned that she would have had her 18th birthday had she lived--so she's very legal, especially for the South. For Hoyt's part, until very recently he'd been living in the not-unsubstantial shadow of his "mama" his whole life. Hoyt and Jess have a lot in common in having been over-protected and sheltered for way too long as well as having grown up with a lot of emotional abuse. Now they are striking out together it seems, to take on the responsibilities of adults in the big, bad world.
The sets. Unbelievable in their authentic look, the set designers of True Blood deserve raises and multiple Emmys. Atmosphere is a huge part of True Blood and these folks are as talented at their craft as the True Blood cast and writers are at theirs.
The music and the soundtrack True Blood music video. See above: "The sets," then change "look" for "sound").
I read a comment somewhere: What about the poor schmucks that unbury Russell? which never crossed my mind but yeah, that could very much happen ona construction site. What we got was was a very dumb "solution" to the Russell issue. I mean, Bill has vowed and now is killing "everyone who has tasted (her) or knows of (Sookie's) powers."
I'm looking forward to more Joe Manganiello in Season 4 as he not only looks warm & fuzzy but he brings a very big dollop of emotional warmth as well--something that none of the vampires can ever truly pull off--its in their nature to be a little chilly. It won't be all teddy bears and squirrels and bunnies though--Alcide is after all, a werewolf.
The Bad & Ugly
Almost to a fault every single actor on True Blood is really good at what they do but like any role you need something to sink your teeth into ( pun intended). Both Tara and Jason are chasing their tales (misspell intended) with either dull as dirt storylines (Jason) or with stories that seem to simply set them up as the foils for other people ( Tara).
It pains me to say this but both characters are superfluous. If each character were asked, "What vital function do you serve in True Blood?" I believe the answer for Jason would be, "I play the resident dumbass, pussy-obsessed, aging jock," who (since he's part faery too) has a charm that seems to work on everyone. Tara plays the victim. Period. That's all the poor girl has done for three seasons. She the angry victim lashing out, she's the sad victim contemplating suicide. She's simply a victim that sticks around to get further victimized.
In season 3, Tara being paired up with Franklin brought her story to life though she was still the angry/scared victim. After he was offed by Jason, Tara reverted to her default angry mode and canoodled with the new, angry Sam.
Jason has in a completely mondo bizarro turn of events become the "mayor" of the inbred meth-making hamlet of "Hotshot." This is cringe-inducing and I really hope they keep his story tucked away for as long as possible. Also, Jason's new gf for whom he declares his love just after meeting?--she's boring. Really, really bland and there's no chemistry whatsoever with Jason. They met and almost "did it" in the woods, met again and "did it" on his sofa and now it's a big deal romance. Just one question. Why?
When we last saw Tara she had scissored off her hair and was leaving Bon Temps in a white convertible (or so it appeared after a series of goodbyes). My hope is to let her be gone for most or all of of next season, then attempt to give the character a re-boot--pretty much the same hope I have for Jason.
Both Tara and Jason serve as Sookie's only surviving "real" human family so killing them off would seem unwise--yet keeping them on only drags the the show down and wastes the talents of both actors. ***
Link goes to a really good critique of the entire season:
True Blood closed out its season on Sunday night with a series of double- and triple-crosses. The series didn’t so much end with a cliffhanger than it left multiple subplots dangling, as though creator Alan Ball decided he’d just clean up this messy season next season.
***Note please that my bitch list is very short compared to my "way-to-go!" list and that neither list is comprehensive.

IMO, the best sequence in the finale where Sookie awakens, pissed off from near-death due to draining--again--due to Bill's duplicity. Thoroughly disgusted, she agrees to watch the silver-bound and burned-by-the-daylight Russell while the "creepy, cold" vampires Pam, Eric & Bill rest. Russell tries to cajole Sookie into freeing him but she tires of him and his BS and turns quite mean herself. Later, help arrives in the 6'5" form of Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello--enjoy because this has to hold you until summer 2011) who admits to Sookie that he's thought a lot about her--even in his dreams--since they last parted.
True Blood season 3 - BabyVamp Jessica - Signing Off For A While (w/ Guest Appearance by Hoyt) ScreenCaps
Jessica takes a break from vlogging to try out what she's learned in the "real world."
Very cute sequence which sort of makes up for Jessica's (Deborah Ann Woll) near-complete absence in the season 3 finale (Episode #36).
That whole extremely awkward intervention thing involving Hoyt, his "mama", his from-10-years-previous high school guidance counselor and poor sad, little "Summer."
Segues into Hoyt's Surprise for Jessica.

"Hmm, Crispy Russell was disturbing to look at, and awesome at the same time. Too bad it was a mostly underwhelming season finale."
I agree that the True Blood Season 3 finale, "Evil (Is Going On)" was a bit of a disappointment. At the 40 minute mark I was nervously eying the clock wondering how the heck *everything* could be tied up--thinking "well, they must be running over" but nope, the show was its normal length and nope, they indeed did NOT tie up much except for The King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington played by the sublime Denis O'Hare. Even here, his face obscured by his burnt, dead flesh Russell Edgington is very effectively arrogant when burning in the Fangtasia parking lot and especially while trying to cajole /manipulate "Miss Stackhouse" into setting him free.
Much more including screencaps later today.
I'd love to hear what y'all thought of the season 3 finale. Did it "feel" like a finale to you? Were you satisfied? Disappointed? Thrilled?

Episode Synopsis: TRUE BLOOD “Evil Is Going On” Season 3 Episode 12 (Season Finale) – Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) grapples with his conscience while plotting his perfect revenge against Russell (Denis O’Hare). Fed up with being “vampire crack,” Sookie (Anna Paquin) considers a new life without Bill (Stephen Moyer) – or any other vampire. Tara (Rutina Wesley) discovers some surprising news about Sam (Sam Trammell), whose rage resurfaces upon learning of Tommy’s (Marshall Allman) latest transgression. Jason (Ryan Kwanten) finds a new calling after warning Crystal’s (Lindsay Pulsipher) family about an impending drug raid. Plagued by visions, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) turns to Jesus (Kevin Alejandro) for help, and learns his boyfriend has more to offer than companionship. Hoyt (Jim Parrack) hopes for a future with Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), spurning Maxine’s (Dale Raoul) pleas to wed Summer (Melissa Rauch). Written by Alan Ball; directed by Anthony Hemingway
Not even gonna link to Ausiello, just paraphrase his not really a Spoiler.
Here goes: True Blood Season 4 will pick up exactly where True Blood Season 3 leaves off.
Oh no! Just when I was thinkin' that maybe just maybe Sam & Tara could work out their tortured souls together Sam decides to get all honest with Tara! Remember how the sort of level-headed Sookie reacted when she found out about Sam's true nature? And now Tara , still trying to recover from Egg's death and Franklin's physical & sexual abuse...gah! No way will she be eating those pancakes (fried in bacon grease--yum!) if Sam blurts out the truth now. <nail biting>
OTOH, she took to Alcide pretty quickly and he's way more scary-seeming when he shifts...

Oooh! Cool beans! Love both these actors. Time to start thinking of some really good Q's for them.
IMO, one of the best things about Season 3 was "Pam" having more screen time and seeing just how deep her relationship with Eric goes. If I had to ask her a question I'd probably go all fangirl and want to know what it's like working with ASkars. He is so serious as Eric. When they yell cut does he stay in character on set or does he revert to the real Alex who I've heard is pretty fun to be around?
Or maybe I'd ask Kristen what it's like having both a brand new husband (musician Abri van Straten) and an expanded role on one of the hottest television shows happen in the same year? A bit overwhelming or the best year ever or...?
Joe is a bit harder because I've only seen him in interviews and True Blood and feel I don't "know" him very well. Maybe try to pry some info about season four True Blood in which he'll be a full cast member?
What would you ask Kristen Bauer van Straten and Joe Manganiello?
I'm away on a short trip to the back woods of Canada and I notice that there is just a ton of new video for True Blood. Instead of yammering about it, I'm just going to post them and tomorrow weed out some juicy details that flash by so fast you miss 'em. Check back!/
EDIT/ Now that I've seen most of them I'm sad to say--there isn't too much new. Yet. You find out who Bill was going all fang-y on in a previous True Blood finale video ...and there's a bit more of Sookie rescinding her invitation into her home to Bill.

A couple of my faves and there are many--are these. Opinions?
[singlepic id=1251 w=320 h=240 float=right]
There are many Lafayette & Jesus shots which I'm thinking must mean that they will have a decent-sized storyline in True Blood season 4. Who doesn't love Lafayette? And Jesus so far has been very easy to embrace as a character.
I'm pretty excited about the possible direction for Lafayette & Jesus in season 4 and I love how Lafayette, a character known to us since season one but long dead in the Sookie Stackhouse series books, is growing. When we first meet "Lala" he already possess the foundation for what's happening to him at the end of Season 3. He sees right through people as if...he had some kind of extra ability. The way the story seems to be unfolding is that Lafayette, beyond the obvious "something extra" he possesses had previously unknown-to him voodoo/ black magic- based mad skillz and coincidentally or not, new boyfriend does as well!
[singlepic id=1238 w=320 h=240 float=left]
Anna Paquin (Sookie) readys herself for both Debbie Pelt and Russell Edgington to come for her.
Sookie and Debbie had a real brawl which ended with Sookie dragging the blades of some sewing scissors across Debbie Pelt's cheek. As of now, the second to last eppy of Season 3, their business is still open-ended...so I expect more from Brit Morgan in season 4--especially because Joe Manganiello will be a series regular as Debbie's ex-bf, the still-pining, Mississsippi were, Alcide Herveaux. Speaking of:
[singlepic id=1208 w=320 h=240 float=right]
Big ol' piece of eye-candy but a comic-book geek, IRL. Have to be charmed by Mr. Manganiello. At least I was--and am looking forward to seeing how the Sookie & Alcide dynamic plays out in True Blood Season 4.
[singlepic id=1228 w=320 h=240 float=left]
This scene with a hungry Jessica accidentally showing her fangs to Arlene after-hours at Merlotte's when the two were all alone except Jessica's next meal "Curlers" (below), was very funny. Carrie Preston as "Arlene" is a hoot.
[singlepic id=1226 w=320 h=240 float=left]
[singlepic id=1219 w=320 h=240 float=right]
As with all maker-progeny vampire relationships Bill and Lorena's was very strong.
[singlepic id=1212 w=320 h=240 float=left]
In a few words: She loved him in her own "twisted" (pun intended) way and he hated her. Or she obeyed her true nature and he refused to after (under 100 years but above 50) years of bloody binging with Lorena... I've forgotten exactly how many. Perhaps he has as well. ;)
[singlepic id=1245 w=320 h=240 float=right]
This was simply a very cool scene esp. visually right through the science-fiction-y "Authority," identities shrouded, appeared on the big screen to hear Eric's story-- with both their queries and comments sent through an earpiece Nan Flanagan wore.
[singlepic id=1242 w=320 h=240 float=left]
Good to see Bill in the sunlight, clad in white but alas, his true nature overtook him--again and he tried to fang Claudette, Sookie's Faery godmother. After she zapped him she indulged him by listening to his request to explain "what" ("What are you?") she was so he could tell Sookie what "she" is--to "protect Sookie." The audience was not privy to their convo. and many people seem to doubt that Bill told Sookie the truth about his encounter with Claudette. Time will tell...
Aww. One Two more.
Both Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) and Pam (Kristen Bauer van Straten) are in a very tense scene with one another (and the attorney writing Eric's will) but they are dressed nearly colour-coordinated and they both look fantastic!)
[singlepic id=1247 w=320 h=240 float=none]
[singlepic id=1248 w=320 h=240 float=none]
The King (Russell) is closing in after Eric's murder of Russell's husband of 800 years, Talbot. Pam is very worried about Eric and this time she does offer him a suggestion--"find a way to use her" (Sookie) to save his skin, she implores Eric in this scene from late season 3.
Don't forget! There's no newTrue Blood episode this week (September 5) because of Labour Day. The season finale of True Blood is on September 12!
There many more (see above) but it's getting really late and I'm taking off to Canada for the week. Kisses!
True Blood is re-airing the latest 3 episodes next Sunday. At the end of the promo, it gives us more of a glimpse into the Season 3 finale on September 12, 2010.
I have some really-truly spoilers that if you read on you will know NOW what some of the results of the cliffhangers of the finale will be. More specifically, you'll know who lives.
I have to tell you, I'm pretty shocked. SPOILER ALERT!
(The actors involved (except one) have interviewed that they are coming back but I'm giving you this version which matches theirs.)
I don't know if like me, you are having mixed feelings about True Blood's imminent Season 3 ending. Don't get me wrong, I have no doubt that it will be awesome but this season went by faster than both one and two--it was so jam-packed with new characters and beefed-up parts for some old favourites. It's just so hard to say goodbye. OK. Now I'm sounding like a sappy love song so let us get to something a bit more hardcore, shall we?
Courtesy of E!Online (Please learn how to spell actor Denis O'Hare's name.)
Joe Manganiello is official for season 4 (check).
Sookie and Alcide (Joe Manganiello, previously confirmed for Season 4)
Update 1.04.11/Denis O' Hare had not been signed for True Blood season 4, which is about one-third done filming going into the four episode. According to E! he proably won't be back for a season or 2!
About Bon Temps' other new additions—Denis O'Hare, Marshall Allman, Kevin Alejandro and Lauren Bowles? We have the scoop: Believe it or not.... all of the aforementioned newbies will be back on True Blood for season four...So it looks like all this pretty faces up there survive next Sunday's "bloody" (per Alexander Skarsgård) season three finale...
From left: Godric's foot (Allan Hyde), Eric, Russell (Denis O'Hare)
Denis is set to return to the HBO hit next year, according to sources, but don't expect to see Russell too early in the year. We have it on good authority (Alan Ball's) that initially witches will reign supreme, but I'm told the plan is for Russell to reappear later in the season.
Sounds to me like Edgington is somehow driven off or thought to be disposed of. Wonder if the "cement truck scene" spoilers from early in the season has anything to do with it? I'm going to need a plausible explanation how he did not go *poof* in the daylight faster than Godric did with Russell bein' 3X as old and all. Lafayette's second to last image of Jesus (Kevin Alejandro)
As for Lafayette's lover, Jesus (Kevin Alejandro), Nelsan says, "We're partners in crime now, my boy toy, so he will be back." Adds Kevin with a knowing grin: "I'm hearing rumors about that, too. I've never been a part of anything this big before." (see below) Happier times for "LaLa" and Jesus (Nelsan Ellis, Kevin Alejandro)
Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) has always been able to see through people--as he does here with Tommy (Marshall Allman)
Sam's wayward little bro isn't going anywhere either, although he's mastered the tease. When asked if he'll be back, Marshall told me: "Yeah, I am. But I mean, hey! How do you know?! Come on, now! Spoiler alert!"
Tommy Mickens taking off with Sam Merlotte's money:
I don't think we are supposed to forget that at roughly this age Sam did the exact same thing to Maryann (Season 2). My guess is the shot that Sam takes at Tommy is either a warning shot or it misses it's mark. I don't know how Tommy could possibly "fly away" (which he has done before) with a load of cash like that. Perhaps Sam will shoot him in the shoulder or arm and keep Tommy "grounded" for awhile.
Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) taking aim at his brother, Tommy.
'Holly' (Lauren Bowles)
And rounding out the ranks as a newly-minted series regular (she told us herself after hitting up the Emmys with her sister Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is Lauren Bowles, who recently joined the show as resident Wiccan Holly.
Also, in re: Arlene Q: Are we going to see something happen with Arlene's baby situation before the end of the season on True Blood?
A: As a matter of fact, Mrs. Carrie Preston assures us we will…well, kinda. "Arlene is still very conflicted. But there's going to be a resolution to the conflict," she says, "But it's also going to be open-ended." Either she's speaking in tongues or my Emmy (lack of sleep and too much ginger ale) hangover is worse than I thought. Does that make any sense to anyone? Carrie's equally wonderful hubby Michael Emerson weighed in on the baby drama, saying, "I mean, we have to see the baby," to which she responded, "If there is a baby…" Now I'm really stumped. She's not pulling a Terri Schuester is she? Or preggo with some sort of supernatural somethin'? The mind boggles.
In re: the "new" Sam Q: I cannot believe the way Sam's acting on True Blood. Tell me it isn't permanent, please! A:...Sam Trammell (says) Sam's not-so-pleasant adventures are just beginning and will extend far into True Blood's fourth season. "I know one thing that's going to happen with Sam [next year], which is taking it to a new level. It's very cool." The gang doesn't even start shooting until November... Read more: Kristen
My second favourite scene of True Blood Episode 11, "Fresh Blood."
In the alone time Jessica and Hoyt share at Bill's house after she saves him from Tommy in his pit bull form by ripping open her vein and feeding him, Hoyt listens as Jessica explains the realities of her true nature. Although momentarily taken aback by her confessing that she accidentally drained and killed a trucker, Hoyt accepts that Jessica simply cannot stomach Tru Blood and can only feed on humans. Without hesitation but with slight trepidation Hoyt offers his own blood to Jessica.
...
This is a raw video. It's Kristen of E! interviewing Mariana Klaveno (Lorena) and Carrie Preston (Arlene) as well as lots of Joe Manganiello (Alcide) being photographed alone and with Rutina Wesley. There is also video of Steve & Anna though no interview.<sad face>
Here's a pic (they did no interviews) from the same event of the newly-married Mr. and Mrs. Anna Paquin. Kidding!
[caption id="attachment_9255" align="alignright" width="285" caption="Anna Paquin & Stephen Moyer attend the pre-Emmy party (Jason Merritt/Getty Images)"][/caption]
*By now I'm pretty sure you know how Kristen defines "scoop"--anything that will get you to read what she /her staff have written which is OK-- she seems to love True Blood.
"I am happy with the way [the finale] sets up for next season. I think [the fans] will be pleased at what they find out about Lafayette. There is something to be found out in the finale about LaLa," he says mysteriously. (Nelsan Ellis about his character known affectionately as "LaLa.")
Shape shifter Marshall Allman (Sam's little brother) is also bursting with giddiness over the season finale. "[It's] very shocking on every front. I think they did an excellent job of the cliffhanger this year for my character, for Anna's character, and for Alex's character, too," he reveal(ed).
Sam Trammell--so adorable--so witty--love him bunches! Little bit of talk in his Kristen interchange about how he feels about TB season 4 & a lot of playful bantering--worth a watch!
Kristen again w/Alexander Skarsgård who speaks briefly about "just flying in" from Sweden and being jet-lagged--thus needing to get inside to the party and have a beer (ha ha). He tells nothing of the season 3 finale BUT he does smile a lot--something we don't see much of on the show and that itself is worth a look:
This was my favourite scene from True Blood's episode 11, "Fresh Blood."
Sookie's curiosity and worry about Eric saying his final goodbyes to her compels her to go to Fangtasia where inspired by Pam to "use her" (Sookie) in trying to defeat Russell Edgington, Eric chains Sookie in his dungeon whilst he fetches Russell in order to offer Edgington the opportunity he cannot turn down--to be able to "walk in the light."
Bill senses Sookie's distress and storms into Fangtasia, finding Pam alone. He demands to see Sookie, Pam tries to stall him, mostly by belittling his affections for Sookie, calling him an "infatuated tween." Bill loses patience after reminding Pam that he is older and stronger and will defeat her if she attempts to thwart him any longer. A fight ensues. Meanwhile in the dungeon, Sookie "hears" the voice of a woman of a foreign language. She's taken aback that Yvetta has come to rescue her. Spurned by Eric, Yvetta is about to take her leave of Fangtasia. With Sookie unshackled, the two women rush upstairs as the sounds of fierce struggling continue.
Sookie and Yvetta discover Pam astride Bill, squirting what turns out to be silver water in his eyes which blinds him temporarily. Sookie, who had the foresight to grab one of the dungeon's selection of silver chains before ascending the stairs comes up behind and casts the thick chain around Pam's neck and pulls tightly, effectively defeating her.
Later, Ginger is shown freeing Pam from the additional chain(s) that Yvetta secured Pam with--chains bound very tightly and that dug deeply into Pam's cold flesh.
After telephoning Eric to apprise him of what occurred, briefly interrupting his tête-à-tête with Russell, Pam is finally fully unbound by the feckless, over-glamoured Ginger. She inquires of Pam if there's anything she can get her to make her feel better. Pam responds with "a drink" as she grabs hold of Ginger and sinks her fangs into the screaming waitress.
Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin tell Access Hollywood Shaun Robinson their most memorable moment from their wedding.
Actually, Anna & Stephen graciously duck the question about a "memorable moment" and allude to a "15-minute" interlude of alone time at the wedding (or reception?).
Anyway, Anna is positively giddy having only been wed for about a week and Stephen is his normal witty and slightly bawdy self. Might be the best interview I've seen them give despite the not-really-the-greatest interviewer.
TV Guide interview Alexander Skarsgård at the Emmys.
Alex interviews that he is jet-lagged from just getting in from a film shoot in Europe. Shooting on True Blood Season 4 starts in late November and he states he knows nothing about next season. Worth watching to get a long look at the gorgeous ASkars.

True Blood - 3x12 - 'Evil is Going On' Season Finale Screen Caps
From E! (Kristen) See below some of the "the stuff" Denis refers to that he had to be clad in for episodes 11 & 12 (I'm thinking mostly 12).

I think too that Denis may have been at some point clad in a getup similar to the one Alexander Skarsgård is in the photo below. Looks like you can basically stand around in it and not much else.

True Blood Season 3 -11 & 12 - 'Fresh Blood' & Finale
"In episode 12, the final episode," Denis teases, "I was encumbered with a lot of stuff, and it made the shooting process incredibly difficult. I had to do a lot of physical stunts. I love doing my own stunts, [but] it was a lot more than I thought I would do. And then I had a lot of makeup. The make-up was heavy-duty, two and a half hours in, two and a half hours out."....
..... "Sookie gets mean and hurts me very deeply. Eric gets mean and hurts me very deeply. And even Pam gets a little mean to me, although she's nice at one point, and hurts me very deeply. And I weep for joy at one point."....
... "I think Russell's going to end up in a place where he didn't expect.."
From E!(Kristen) See below some "the stuff" Denis refers to that he had to be clad in for episodes 11 & 12 (I'm thinking mostly 12).
Official HBO True Blood Synopsis
True Blood Episode 11 "Fresh Blood”
Original airdate: August 29, 2010
Bill tries to earn back Sookie’s trust, but ends up bringing her face-to-face with fresh dangers. Knowing he’s no physical match for the King, Eric tempts Russell with the “ultimate vampire dream.” Jason tries to wrap his head around Crystal’s revelation. Sam embraces his dark side, alienating everyone except Tara. Hoyt and Jessica take their romance to the next level; with Holly’s help, Arlene puts her future in the hands of a goddess; post V-trip, Lafayette struggles with new demons. (Written by Nancy Oliver; Directed by Daniel Minahan.)
So. Has Sam blown a gasket or something? I keep thinking that now, near the end of season 3, everyone on this show has been traumatized and the events are just coming one after the other. "Snapping" would seem to be a reasonable expectation of the fallout from the serial killer-co-worker and maenad Maryann--plus all the "other stuff" in the last 2 months of the show's time frame.
Poor Sam. His early life seems about as bad as it has gotten so far one the show. Maybe Crystal, the "daughter of a meth dealer" promised at age four to her half brother as a future wife <ick>. Then there's Sam's bro Tommy who no doubt has had a rough go of it but he's hard to feel sorry for, little wanna be badass tht he is.
Don't impale me for this slightly- educated guess: I (think I) read her name as "Ravenscroft " in the So. Gothic Mystery book series by Charlaine Harris.
But.
She has been "Just Pam" (as she insisted in a recent Babyvamp Jessica vlog appearance) on True Blood until now, I'm pretty sure.
Regardless, I'm really enjoying Kristen Bauer van Straten's work in True Blood this season. I hope we see at least as much of her next season as well.
It's cool to see the progeny-maker side of her and Eric's relationship. Knowing how far Eric would've gone to stop Godric from "meeting the dawn" or "the true death" we can guess that Pam would breach many boundaries to save Eric (including earlier in Season 3 literally her own skin in the hands of the Magister) so it's within possibility that Pam will be taking some drastic measures in the last two episodes of True Blood season 3.
Bring it on!, right?

True Blood 3x10 Sneak Peek - Eric and Pam Clip.
HBO Owns everything.
Great scene!
Eric said Pam's last name when he bequeathed her all his estate but I can't understand what he said! I think the writers did so on purpose, too. Unless someone figures it out, am going to need closed captioning for it.
Anyone?
As far as I know Pam's last name has never been mentioned on True Blood.
"I hope you rot in Hell, you psycho piece of shit!" --Tara as she "disposes of" to Franklin Mott's messy remains.
In the immediate moments after Jason successfully shoots a wooden bullet into Franklin Mott's heart as Franklin strangled Tara, Tara instructs Jason to get rid of Franklin's clothes while she engages in some cathartic moments as she covers up Franklin's gory remains.
Is it just me or is Tara beginning to seem like an interesting character? I'm loving Rutina's portrayal of her this season.
Rev. Newlin's return (ack!) provokes Jessica to finally lose her patience and go face-to-face, baring fangs at Arlene.
"I don't like narrow-minded skinny bitches with bad dye jobs..." --Jessica to Arlene after Arlene sanctimoniously states that it was "only a matter of time before one of y'all got caught on film."
Though this season of True Blood still has three episodes to go, I’ve already got scoopage on the next one: Long story short, it might as well be titled “Season of the Witch”!
Series creator Alan Ball reveals that he’ll be introducing Hallow Stonebrook, the were-sorceress from Charlaine Harris’ fourth Sookie novel, Dead to the World. Preferring to refer to the character as anecromancer, the boss man says she’s “actually a medium. She communicates with the dead, and she’s interested in developing further powers.”
In the book, Hallow casts a spell on Eric... she’s described as a tall, trim brunette.

I've been reading Rolling Stone since I was 14 and subscribing since age 16. That's oh, let's say about for about 30 years.
Suffice to say that this is the most excited I've been about a Rolling Stone cover and it's accompanying interview (with freakin"Alan Ball(!) since David Cassidy posed on the cover of Rolling Stone in his altogether when I was 12 years old.
With the hues and cries of "too much blood" in season 3's True Blood here are our heroes' (literally) cheeky reply.
This is gonna sound snooty, but I've actually been hoping that the gore--which hello! is funny in it's over the top-ness--would turn the "jump-on the bandwagon"- types off the show. And it is--with some at least.
Today, while fishing for True Blood news I saw a comment--someone actually wrote that "True Blood would be so much more popular without the gore." LOL. Might as well take out the sex, too. But no one is complaining about too much sex. Isn't that interesting?!
I love you Rolling Stone for the much-anticipated Alan Ball interview and for putting some of his pretty people/main characters/terrific actors on the cover!
The following is an excerpt of an article from the September 2, 2010 issue of Rolling Stone. This issue is available tomorrow on newsstands.
"I've had 10 piercings in my ear, and a bellybutton pierce (sic), and a tongue ring. My tongue, as it turns out, is not really appropriate for piercing, because the webbing is too close to the font, and the bottom barbell kept hitting against my teeth... and it gave me a lisp, which isn't great as an actress." ANNA PAQUIN on her history of piercings.
The idea of celibate vampires is ridiculous, True Blood creator Alan Ball says. "To me, vampires are sex," he says. "I don't get a vampire story about abstinence. I'm 53. I don't care about high school students. I find them irritating and uninformed." On his show, every available orifice is used for intercourse: gay, straight, between humans and supernatural beings, and supernatural being on supernatural being, whether he be werewolf, dog or an enormous Minotaur-looking being called a maenad. None of the sex is quite as good as vampire sex, though, which can happen at the astonishing rhythm of 120 bpm while simultaneously devouring one's neck and making your eyes roll back into your head. Says Stephen Moyer — who plays Bill Compton, the undead Southern Civil War Veteran — "If we go from a base level, vampires create a hole in the neck where there wasn't one before. It's a de-virginization — breaking the hymen, creating blood and then drinking the virginal blood. And there's something sharp, the fang, which is probing and penetrating and moving into it. So that's pretty sexy. I think that makes vampires attractive." He laughs a little. "Plus, Robert Pattinson is just hot, right?"
Keeping in mind that there are some great supporting actors on True Blood we have a few bits from Kristen which in a style typical of bits from Kristen don't tell you a whole lot (but they are served up with such verve!) In re: Carrie Preston's Arlene: Carrie Preston w/Michael Emerson credit: FilmMagic Inc/FilmMagic
Keep your eyes on Arlene (Carrie Preston). According to her real-life hubby Michael Emerson, he's "glad she's able to be the one human story this season so far, because there needs to be a human element." But he warns us ominously: "She's going to have some superhuman challenges coming up."
In re: Joe Manganiello: 's Alcide: "you get to seen him scantily clad in an upcoming ep of True Blood…" Good to know he'll be back before season's end. As a shifter however, scantily clad is a normal condition. Finally, Carrie Preston's spouse, Michael Emerson, again talks about someday (next season perhaps?) having a part in True Blood written in for him by Alan Ball. As Emerson puts it, "Whenever I see Alan Ball he says, 'I must write something for you,' and I say, 'I'll be there in a heartbeat.' So we have an understanding and liking of one another. I certainly think he's a fantastic talent and maybe they'll find some little tidbit for me next season."
True Blood - Sneak Peek (8.12) - Sookie & Bill: 3x09 'Everything is Broken' Sookie to Bill, "Just once, I'd like to not find a dead body in my house" (like a "normal couple.") Bill jokingly suggests watching television instead of what they do. He implies that Sookie couldn't enjoy a sedate lifestyle. Click to my site - http://thetruebloodblog.com for the Sneak Peek (8.12) video. Anna Paquin as Sookie looks adorable in this scene as she steers the conversation whilst she and Bill clear her house of the night before's mayhem, in this case the were corpse with the ripped-out throat.

Awesome vampire training scene!
All content is owned by HBO and Alan Ball.
"Jessica" (Deborah Ann Woll) is a favourite on HBO's True Blood. Originally abducted by vampires near the end of Season 1, Jessica was sired by Bill by order of the Magister for Bill's killing of Fangtasia vampire bartender Longshadow in defense of Sookie. Jessica was just 17 y.o. at the time of her death and subsequent turning. She was & still is very much an inexperienced teen, mostly due to extreme parental over-protection. In S3 thus far we've had very little interaction between Jessica and her maker due to his confinement by the King of Mississippi. "Baby Vamp" Jessica has been fending for herself and not doing a great job of it. Before turning to Pam(!) for advice she accidentally drains and kills a man because she did not know how to stop feeding in time. As of this episode S3xE08, "Night On The Sun," to Jessica's great relief, Bill has returned home.
She's unprepared for his announcement upon his return, however. Watch the scene (above) as well as their next scene together--one with a very different vibe to it.
The screen caps illustrate to me why Deborah Ann Woll is so popular as Jessica. She completely inhabits her frustratingly endearing character.
Bill Releases Jessica - Bill & Jessica train/confide (video)
Both Stephen Moyer as Vampire Bill and Deborah Ann Woll (jessica) did wonderful, nunaced scenes that were so believable, especially within the context of their relatiosnship (Bill was made by the Magister To 'make' Jessica at the end of season 1).
Both Stephen Moyer as Vampire Bill and Deborah Ann Woll (jessica) did wonderful, nunaced scenes that were so believable, especially within the context of their relatiosnship (Bill was made by the Magister To 'Make' Jessica at the end of season 1).
As promised, there was a great deal of blood and sex in episode 8. There were more name-brand deaths in episode 3x08 as well: Talbot the vampire king Russell's husband, was staked by Eric, and Gus, the last of the 'Fuck You [Were] Crew,' was drained by Jessica after he broke into Sookie's house.Bill took out a nameless Crew wolf, too.
Finally, we got a (30-second) love scene with Sookie & Bill having makeup sex or breakup-to-makeup sex, I guess more accurately.
Eric, in the most chaste love scene I think ever on True Blood, got it on w/Talbot or so Talbot's facial expressions would have one believe, almost right until Eric's ultimate vampire "fuck you"--staking him.
After escaping Russell's clutches via Bill's denigrating the King of Mississippi as either a "coward or just lazy," Jessica dined on the last of the "Fuck You Crew," 'Gus.' She ate with great passion.
''Franklin's brains won't wash off the guest linens, I had to bury werewolves under the gazebo, and that Sookie bitch staked Lorena. I've had enough excitement, thank you.''. --Talbot to Russell upon Russell's return home from marrying Sophie-Anne and beheading the Magister.
SPOILER!!!
Franklin's brains, for better or worse, will have grown back by next week.
True Blood - Episode 3x09 'Everything is Broken' Franklin Mott (James Frain) & Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley).
FOR AIRDATE AUGUST 15TH 2010:
Nan Flanagan goes to Fangtasia for answers about the Magister's whereabouts. Bill gets to the bottom of Sookie's real identity. Jason finds an unlikely ally in his feud with Felton and Calvin. Arlene has a pessimistic view of her husband.

True Blood 3x08 - Tommy and Hoyt Sneak Peek.
All rights reserved by HBO.
Something tells me that Tommy "Merlotte" didn't stay alive in the dogfight ring by fighting fair. I doubt he'd do so with Hoyt, either. You know--the bigger they are, the harder they fall? I smell a sucker punch before they take this "shit outside."
Aw. Joe Manganiello as Alcide is just sooo adorable. How could Sookie not go for such a gorgeous fuzzy BIG bear? I think both Eric and Bill are going to be frozen out for the remainder of Season 3 and that is just fine with me as we discover that Alcide is not quite the perfect guy (for Sookie), either.
SPOILER!
I think maybe taking the book route as it relates to Sookie's (self-defense) killing of Debbie Pelt would work well in the show. (I hope I remember correctly--so much killing in both the books and the show!) Sookie didn't want to talk about the attack by Debbie as Alcide is still in love with Debbie. When Alcide finally learns of Sookies killing of Debbie (which happens either in this episode or down the line but it does happen) he just can't get over it enough to go forward with Sookie. Later, when he finally can, he has too many family issues on his hands and Sookie realizes it's simply another guy with a lot of baggage she ping-pongs back to Eric or Bill or idk, another guy.
Wow. This has to be one of the most misleading promos HBO has put out for True Blood... maybe ever.
If you saw the Comic-Con (geek convention) Second Half of True Blood Season 3 extended promo you'll see that it shoots a hole in almost every aspect of the promo for next Sunday's True Blood. I'll post it below so you can compare and contrast.
Additionally, since True Blood is an adaption--NOT a faithful recreation of the Sookie Stackhouse series we can't take anything at face value expecting it to be "like the books" which frankly I like, having read the books. Despite my love of SPOILERS I love too to be shocked and surprised--otherwise, why would I watch the show, right?
For comparison:
True Blood Comic Con Promo: The Second Half Of Season Three
True Blood is already half way through the season...see what's yet to come in the final half. New episodes premiere every Sunday night at 9pm only on HBO.
True Blood Recap--late season 2 through episode 6, season 3. Great refresher!
I'm not sure if you've yet had a chance to visit site of the unquestionably Ultimate Truebies at The Vault but I make sure I do at least a couple times each week. I also subscribe to their YouTube videos which I'm thankful to them for putting up for me--an Ultimate Truebie without the mad skillz to do so.
Debbie Pelt, Alcide Herveaux and Sookie: What's the deal with these three?
(Sort of rhetorical--and given patience we will soon know--yay!)
None of them are completely human--but it seems pretty serious. Looking at the screen caps from the promo for the second half of season 3, (CLICK through to enlarge) it appears that maybe--just maybe Alcide kills Cooter when at Russell's plantation because the background looks like the slave quarters and last we saw both Debbie and Cooter were sucking Bill dry and frolicking around, high on "V".
I'm out of the country playing catch-up on my posts--mostly because some content is not available in Canada so apologies for some delays currently. Soon I'll have a friend post the banned content from the states so it will again be as current as my one-(fan)girl band allows.
Here's some Kristen-grade spoilers for the second half of season 3.
Q: I am seriously loving this season of True Blood! I’ll take any scoop you’ve got!
A: How about some Bon Temps body count intel? Director Scott Winant tells us: “This season the fewest actors die. I killed my share, but compared to season two, not as many.” Are you breathing a sigh of relief that we’ll be losing less of our beloved characters or do you tune in for the blood and carnage? We won’t judge. Well, maybe just a little.
( I wonder if he's referring specifically to featured cast members or actors like the three wolves Bill killed? My guess is almost the entire body count will consist of actors new this season or actors who were killed at this sort-of point in the story. Hint: Sookie has sworn to kill a certain individual and I'm thinking she'll do it. It's not Eric as she has only sworn to "get back" at him. More hints about one death in the screen caps above.)
Q: What’s ahead for Jason?
Looks like that annoying quarterback is going to continue honing in on Jason’s old stomping grounds, because our True Blood sources say his next stop is going to be working with the infamous road crew. Guess that scholarship didn’t come around after all?
(Wow. Nothing about Crystal? Way to duck a question. I'll answer. There will be more Crystal and her fellow Hotshot folk (see below).
Q:What’s the deal with Tommy’s dad? A:Are you referring to that freaky head of hair, or the whole “I own my son!” thing? Let’s go with the latter. Without revealing too much, we’ll say that the Mickens family has a means of income and it involves pimping out their youngest son, so to speak. Oh, and it’s illegal and does not occur when Tommy’s in his human form.
( I agree that Joe Lee Mickens looks sort of non-human but I think that is just a writing device to muddy the waters. I think he is what he seems: A drunken no-good free-loading bully and Tommy's mom as we saw this past week, is 100% behind him.
Tommy shifts into his pit bull from and they force him to dogfight (he's their meal ticket.)
