Jackie continues to be pulled in opposite directions of the emotional spectrum. On the one hand, a nice, stable, funny guy is interested in her and they have begun to date. At the same time, Jackie's eldest daughter Grace, is acting out; she's lying and dating an age-inappropriate guy and in general, has a surly attitude. Even little Fiona is misbehaving enough that her school master has a conference with Jackie and Kevin. Then there's the issue of custody with Kevin and most profoundly, Jackie's tenuous sobriety. How much pressure can Jackie handle as she navigates her first year sober--without any kind of outside support? It's a question that will remain open until there's an answer.
Jackie starts her day telling Grace she’s not allowed to go to a school dance with her boyfriend. Jackie is nervous about her date with Frank later that night. Zoey and Thor decide they’ll help her get ready.

Prentiss and Zoey work in perfect harmony on a pregnant gunshot victim who collapses in the waiting room. Later that night, Jackie and Frank skip the fancy restaurant in favor of a pub. It’s a great date with a good guy. All is going well until Jackie’s phone rings: It’s Mike Cruz, urging her to lose the date.

At the same time, Grace and her friends sneak out to the dance and a surprise police raid separates Grace from Danny and all of her friends. Alone on the streets of New York, Grace frantically tries calling Jackie but all of her calls go to voicemail. Back at Cruz’s apartment, Jackie notices her missed calls and rushes out to pick up Grace.

Arya lost her last, best friend when the ever-somber Melisandre paid an unannounced visit to the Brotherhood Without Banners. Despite Gendry's protestations that he wished to become one of the Brotherhood and his worth to them as a blacksmith, he was sold off to the red witch for a couple of bags of gold.
Arya called Mel out as the witch she is and SPOILER correctly predicted that Gendry's fate in the witch's hands would be grim. (Remember the line Mel had about Stannis not being only one with King's blood? Gendry is the bastard son of Stannis's brother, the deceased King Robert Baratheon.)
Melisandre fixed her gaze on Arya and most likely nailed it when she insinuated that Arya would be responsible for many deaths in the future. She also, in her trademark spooky way, told Arya that they would meet again.

Dexter Excuses Supercut (VIDEO)
Watch a compilation of Dexter's best excuses from the last 7 seasons!
Throughout the series, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) has had to make up dozens of excuses--lies, actually--on the fly but he's nothing if not a quick thinker. He's probably lied more to his sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) than anyone, provoking her to ask, 'Where in fucktopia were you?' Dexter has had a lot of "personal business," that seems to puzzle Deb--though she never really questioned his honesty, before last season, when this happened:
Debra had to chose in the season 7 finale whether to shoot her boss, Maria LaGuerta, who had uncovered Dexter's serial killing ways and was begging Deb to 'put him down.' Dexter smoothly manipulated the situation, encouraging Deb that she had no other choice but to shoot him. After anguishing for what seemed like an enternity, Deb shot LaGuerta in cold blood, sparing her cold-blooded serial killer brother.

Dexter sees his sister coming apart and exclaims, 'Deb, look at youself, you're lost!' To which Deb emphatically responds: 'No, you're lost!

Nurse Jackie Season 5: Next on Episode 4 (VIDEO) & Good Doc, Bad Doc Cast Interviews!
Edie Falco as Jackie and Adam Ferrara as Frank in Nurse Jackie Episode 5.04 "Lost Girls" (Cr: Showtime)
Looking at the screencaps (above) from the Nurse Jackie promo for episode 5.04 "Lost Girls,' one thing in particular stands out. Other than when she's directly interacting with her girls or with BFF Dr. O'Hara, we never see Jackie look this happy. It's a completely different Nurse Jackie because unlike the forced smiles when she was abusing painkillers, this is a real 'whole face' smile. It's very attractive, don't you think?
However, real life has a way of breaking in and smiles fade soon enough. In this episode, Jackie must deal with both her girls acting out. It may be due to the discord that the separation and custody fight caused or in Grace's case, it may just be the terrible teens. Jackie also must deal with the still obviously smitten, Eddie. They have to work together and Jackie stills cares for him so she comes up with a simple way to make sure they are on the same "page". It's a really nice scene and there's a sense of an end--finally--to the air of hostility between them.
We are still getting to know the seemingly inept, iPhone-addicted Dr. Roman. She's a master manipulator of men and she is quite successful, especially concerning Coop (shocking, I know).
Akalitus's memory issues make have put a patient with a secret at great risk, not to mention All Saint's, but could it be possible that we've underestimated her? Tune in for all this and much more!
NURSE JACKIE 504 – “Lost Girls”Episode Details
An agitated and heavily medicated Jane Doe is brought into the ER. Jackie and Kevin are called into Fiona’s school because she’s been acting out in class. Jackie catches Grace sneaking around the city to see her much older boyfriend. When Jackie gets back to the hospital, she learns that Akalitus lost Jane Doe just as her concerned husband shows up at the hospital. Akalitus tells Jackie that the “concerned” husband has been drugging Jane Doe and she’s helping her get to a safe house. When Prentiss finds out, the nurses unite to take the blame, but he surprises them all by saying if this happens again they should come to him.

It's kind of cringe-inducing watching Kevin (Dominic Fumusa) and Jackie (Edie Falco)
go for each other's jugulars but their breaking up was probably a good
thing as they were a pretty boring couple--life around them alone was
pretty airless.
If you haven't been spoiled yet on this it should not be a shocker:
Now-sober and in divorce (custody) proceedings Jackie starts back into
the dating game.
Jackie and Kevin are not setting really good boundaries for their
'ex' marital spats which, come to think of it, they didn't bother doing
when they were a supposedly happy couple, back when Jackie was a
pill-head who bedded the pharmacist to get painkillers to feed her
addiction. Yikes, there's been forward movement--for Jackie, anyway, as
you'll see in the next handful of episodes. BIG emotional ups and downs,
including examining a parent's worst nightmare via a former colleague
who lost his son--Jackie's treatment program buddy--OD'd and died so his
father--Jackie's boss upped and quit as head of the hospital. He wants a
private exit interview with Jackie--stat!
Their have been some
really fresh casting choices and surprising developments in the story
but the 'best' surprise in season five is about how great Nurse Jackie remains. Seven
episodes in to Nurse Jackie's- fifth season and this is my favourite of all the seasons so far.

I've watched the first five episodes of the new season of Nurse Jackie after having watched since it premiered 4 years ago. I am so very pleased with it and I think you will be, too.
At it's core, the show is about a head nurse who outwardly, has it all together--she's extremely competant, a leader, instills confidence in others--then it spins out of control due to her drug addiction. By this season's opener, Nurse Jackie has gone to rehab, completing eight of the steps, and has been sober for about 9 months, give or take. But she insists on staying sober by playing by her own rules which makes for a razor thin line for Jackie to walk while staying on top of her 70-hour a week job, going through the wrenching emotional mechanics of a divorce/deciding who gets the girls. Could their be room for romance, too? That would be a first--but then, so is her sobriety so don't miss what will be the best ever season of Nurse Jackie.

Hard to be optimistic about Fiona (Emmy Rossum) and Jimmy's (Justin Chatwin) chances for reconciliation any time before season 4 as this penultimate Sneak Peek VIDEO 3 illustrates pretty profoundly.
I used to wish for them to have a happily ever-after, but truly, Jimmy/Steve is not a good guy.
Throughout season 3 he played the role of devoted partner to Fiona (at least when he wasn't boning his wife, Estefania) and stand-in dad to the Gallagher brood but ultimately, he is a thief, a liar and a cheat. Fiona, despite her horrible upbringing and grim life is a better person than he is. She deserves better so I'm rooting for this relationship to go down in flames.

Game of Thrones - Episode 3.01 - Valar Dohaeris - Review
This is an initial impression of the premiere episode Game of Thrones - Episode 3.01 - 'Valar Dohaeris'. It contains only the mildest of spoilers.
Unsurprisingly and very satisfyingly, the series has raised the bar yet again visually. The locations, the sets, the costumes, the effects… everything just looks sumptuous.
In the premiere episode, we pick up where we left off last season, with Sam Tarley running from the White Walkers and their army of undead. The scene is intense and atmospheric...with a surprise ending. Cut to the opening credits, which feature King’s Landing, Winterfell, Harrenhal, Dragonstone, the Wall and Astapor.
The rest of the episode is dedicated to catching us up with the various players in the story, including those in King’s Landing, on Dragonstone, beyond the Wall and across the Narrow Sea.
Many of these scenes do double-duty, not only catching us up on past events but also setting things up for later in the season like... watching the chess pieces being moved into position yet again... and their potential meaning... for the storylines this season.
And what of those storylines? Every one wants to know how closely this season will hew to A Storm of Swords.
Having only watched a fraction of season 3... it seems that they are still following the main storyline but at times...taking a different path getting to their destination.
There are a number of new scenes in episode one that are not in the book but which blend in in such a way that they could have been.
Others scenes, like in past seasons are wholly different from the writings of George R.R. Martin, but they serve to streamline events and characters.
Season 2 of Game Of Thrones kept most of our characters very busy.
Robb Stark is
fighting for an independent North.
Theon Greyjoy turned on the
Starks but was eventually stabbed in the back by his own family.
Joffrey Lannister is still on the Iron Throne, but his uncle, Renly Baratheon,
also felt he had the right to claim the throne and he received help
from House Tyrell.
Tyrion Lannister arrived in King’s Landing to
become the hand of the king, only to almost succcumb during the
Battle of the Blackwater and then to be cast aside by his own
father, Tywin.
Then there is Stannis Baratheon, also still in it to win
it, and he is being helped by Melisandre (Carice van Houten).
Meanwhile, Daenerys Targaryen is still on Essos with her three
dragons, Jon Snow is still a captive of the Wildlings, and the last
episode ended with Sam Tarly trying to hide from an army of White Walkers.

Rose Leslie as Ygritte in Game Of Thrones Season 3 (Credit: EW)
You may think you know how brutal HBO’s beautiful, dark, twisted fantasy Game of Thrones
can get, but to paraphrase Wildling temptress Ygritte: “You know
nothing about season 3.” Based on roughly the first half of the third
novel in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, A Storm of Swords,
this season continues the epic story of rival families vying
for power in a fantasy kingdom where winter and summer last for years.
It includes some of the most rousing moments of
triumph in the saga’s five-book (so far) histroy — as well as its
most bloody casualties. ...“Emotionally, this season really goes for the jugular,” Thrones executive story editor Bryan Cogman tells Entertainment Weekly in this week’s issue. “In some cases, quite literally.”...
Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are reluctant to raise
expectations any higher, but are optimistic...One
particular “Scene Which Shall Not Be Named,” as Benioff called it, left
the Thrones team devastated. “I’ve never seen the crew so
emotional,” Benioff says. “If the scene has that effect on the people
making it who know what’s coming, if they’re that overpowered, I think
it’s going to have an overwhelming effect on people watching it.” (cont.)
This season, the Lannister family backstabbing is ratcheted to a new
level now that Lord Tywin (Charles Dance) has returned to King’s
Landing. Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) struggles to purchase a
merciless eunuch army. Kingslayer Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) attempts
to escape the confinement of his noble escort Brienne (Gwendoline
Christie). Jon Snow (Kit Harington) infiltrates the rival Wildling camp
led by Mance Rayder (Ciarán Hinds), while the mesmerizing Ygritte (Rose Leslie)
tries to melt Jon Snow’s heart.
HBO's Season 3 adaption of Game of Thrones is one that has long been anticipated by fans of the George R.R. Martin epic fantasy series "A Song Of Ice & Fire."
Based on parts of book 3, this season some of the most compelling characters get into some of the most memorable situations of the entire series thus far.
Diana Rigg as Lady Oleanna (Cr: EW)
Diana Rigg will play a character that stood out for her extreme directness, her lack of desire to suffer fools and her ability to scheme. It should be an absolute joy to see Rigg take on the pivotal role of Lady Oleanna Tyrell.
As Blackwater Bay cools, the victors consolidate their power
and rebuild King’s Landing. But new challengers for the Iron Throne
rise from the most unexpected places. Characters old and new must
navigate the demands of family, honor, ambition, love and – above all –
survival, as the Westeros civil war rages into autumn.
Based on the bestselling fantasy book series by George R.R.
Martin, GAME OF THRONES is an epic story of treachery and nobility set
on the continent of Westeros, where summers and winters can last years,
and only the lust for power is eternal. The Emmy®- and Golden
Globe-winning series returns for its ten-episode third season SUNDAY,
MARCH 31 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO, followed by other
episodes on subsequent Sundays at the same time.
As season three begins, the Lannisters hold absolute
dominion over King’s Landing after repelling Stannis Baratheon’s forces.
Yet Robb Stark, King in the North, still controls much of the South as
well, and has yet to lose a battle. In the Far North, Mance Rayder has
united the wildlings into the largest army Westeros has ever seen. Only
the Night’s Watch stands between him and the Seven Kingdoms, but nobody
knows what happened to its Lord Commander and the force he led beyond
the Wall.
Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys Targaryen – reunited with
her three growing dragons – ventures into Slaver’s Bay in search of
ships to take her home and allies to conquer it.
Returning series regulars on GAME OF THRONES this season
include: Emmy® and Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage (Tyrion
Lannister), Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark), Lena Headey (Cersei

Fiona starts a new office job but has a hard time fitting in with the corporate culture. In an attempt to get medical coverage, Frank inadvertently becomes involved in the gay rights movement where he meets Abraham Paige (guest star Bradley Whitford), a powerful activist. (SOURCE: Showtime)
Of the 15 promo photos, the one of Ian (Cameron Monaghan) sitting on his porch steps with a really messed up eye is the one that most interests me. I have no spoilers for this episode but I get the feeling that Mickey (Noel Fisher) did this to him. That Mickey is a real rotter. I can see being attracted to dangerous boys but he's a nasty, dangerous boy and Ian could do way better. Maybe he will.
I was noticing last week how nicely Emma Greenwell as Mandy is meshing with the cast. She's not the season 1 actress that played Mandy but I really like her and the nuances to her character that we are seeing through her involvement with Lip. Like her aunt said, she's the most decent of all the Milkoviches.
Finally, the promo photos strongly indicate that Lip's (Jeremy White) ex, Karen has made another drastic choice. The three shots of her mother, Sheila (Joan Cusak), with Shelia being pampered by Debs (Emma Kenney) and a shot of the two of them indulging in a big hug, tells me that both of them have had some really emotionally wrenching times of late and that you can find comfort in the least-expected places.

It's pretty clear that a sober life vs. a non-sober life for Nurse Jackie means pretty much having all of the same responsibilities with none of the numbing.
Edie Falco in Nurse Jackie on Showtime
Nurse Jackie : Season 5: Official Trailer (VIDEO)
Without the crutch of getting high, Jackie has to face it all stone cold sober and though she seems to have a really good resolve, there are moments when you can see just how stretched thin Jackie (Edie Falco) still is. She's holding it together but with the custody fight with Kevin looming, (speaking of Kevin (Dominic Fumusa) he is being a real dick--still). Jackie's ex is carrying his anger and resentment towards her proudly like a badge, using every excuse available to tell her ('nicely') that she ruined everyone's life and that she's scum.
He's really not forgiving her any time soon no matter how anyone--including his daughters with Jackie, feels about it.
An overturned bus makes for a crazy day at All Saints. Two new
doctors join the staff: Dr. Carrie Roman, a resident who fucked her way
to the middle, and Dr. Ike Prentiss, a badass Army doc. Dr. Eleanor
O’Hara just wants to spend every minute with her new son. Coop is wary
of Prentiss but starts crushing on Carrie. And in the middle of the
chaos, Akalitus gives Eddie back his old job. After witnessing yet
another tense morning between the Peytons, Zoey announces that it’s time
for her to move out of Jackie’s house and O’Hara tells Jackie it’s her
last day at All Saints and she’s moving to London to be with her baby
and her family. And all this, the day before Jackie’s birthday. And the
end of a long day, Jackie puts one pill into a small jewelry box next to
her wedding ring in her night stand. It’s a new year.

This is not an easy time for Jackie--but other people are struggling, too. O'Hara + mummyhood + work vs. wealthy, stayed-at-home mom--why work? SPOILER! So far in the first three epiosdes, Eve Best in the character of Dr. O'Hara, (soon to be residing in London) has had a grainy Skype birthday celebration with SPOILER help from Jackie's soon-to-be-former roommate. I'm entirely unsure what her role will be througout season 5. Sure will miss her if it is reduced by much.
I'm guessing that if Eve Best as Dr. O'Hara does not come back in a full capacity she'll be doing periodic Skyping. I'd rather have her in the same room with the people she's conversing with, having a party for, and so forth but if she's to be limited this season then back for more later, I wouldn't have to have a problem with that.
Gloria Akalitus (Anna Deavere Smith) is having memory issues but no has yet really confronted her on it.
Tony's (Tyler Jacob Moore) back! ...with more bad news for the Gallaghers
SHAMELESS 308 – “Where There’s a Will” Episode Description
Emma Kenney as "Debs" has been such a big piece of the heart, excellence & essence of this show's third season. "Shameless, The "American version" of the long-running British show of the same name is on it's own merits, an unqualified hit.
Emmy Rossum as Fiona Gallagher, de facto mom to her sibling brood, is still phenomenal--most everyone in the cast is. Even Liam (Brenden Sims & Brandon Sims) is getting some good lines this season!
The family gathers for real Aunt Ginger’s fake funeral where they
meet Frank’s cousin Patrick. Patrick also forged a will, and since his
is dated more recently than theirs, the house is going to him. The
family conspires to challenge the will and to get rid of Patrick.
After a failed clean-up gig, Jimmy finds a new job at the Coffee
Beanery. He runs into an old friend from med school, Andy, and he begins
to wonder what he’s doing with his life.
Meanwhile, Fiona and Lip look for a new house. Not wanting to move, Carl
poisons cousin Patrick. Patrick lives and the Gallagher’s lose their
battle for the house. Source:Showtime
When Tony arrives with an eviction notice, Debbie falsely accuses
Patrick of touching her in her ‘nice places’. Patrick bargains with
Fiona. For a small fee, the Gallagher’s can rent the house from him and
continue to live there.
This was very funny and I really like the idea of calling our 'naughty bits' our 'nice places.' Empowering and funny!
With Hymie gone, Sheila no longer needs Frank as a nanny and Frank
needs a new place to stay. Luckily, he meets creepy, vulnerable
Christopher at his AA meeting. Sheila becomes an advocate of the word
‘retard’ and learns that Karen was the one that called the Wong’s. Kev
and Carol continue to get busy with the hopes of making a baby.

One thing about the Showtime offer where with a Showtime subscription, you can watch basically this week's and next week's episode of Californication on two consecutive nights. That's great for the genral audience; it keeps people like me on my toes.
Though I thought I was doing pretty well keeping the episode sequences set right, I found a photo source that had gotten them wrong--and it made me double check even though I was so sure--unless the publicity peeps got things out of sequence, too. Not hard to fathom when you have two fresh episodes of the same show going out at essentially the same time. Yikes.

Tim Minchin, David Duchovny & Natasha McElhone in Californication Episode 607 (Cr: Showtime)
I nominate this episode as the most bizarre so far of Californication season 6, not specifically because of Marilyn Manson's guest starring turn, but because by bringing him and Tim Minchin as Atticus Fetch together, the level of oddness/insanity reaches completely new heights.
Even so, 'normal' family problems are brewing in the Hank-Becca-Karen family unit. Becca is still rebelling, going to great lengths to imitate her father's bad behaviour. An intervention involving Manson is staged and the results are pretty much what any functional person would expect.
With Charlie having realized that he still loves Marcy there is fertile ground to be mined--well maybe the ground isn't fertile anymore but it certainly is 'familiar,' as Marcy puts it.
Tune in Sunday night on Showtime to share in the craziness!

Californication : A Nice Little Fairytale Sneak Peek VIDEO
I hafta admit, after watching the Nurse Jackie Season 5 sneak peek and tease which had NO sign of our beloved Dr. O'Hara, I was just a bit worried myself that the delicious Eve Best might not be returning to Nurse Jackie. So this is excellent news--I had been and now can continue to look forward to finding out how O'Hara will handle the new life chapter of single motherhood(!) I'm guessing mommy veteran Jackie will be a much-needed source of support! That could be a nice flip from O'Hara's role last season as the one offering loads of BFF-quality friendship, support, and strength to a newly-in-recovery Jackie.

Despite the many jams the Gallagher kids have found themselves in, this set of 'cascading failures' seems a near-impossible one for Fiona to fix. Faced with losing
Liam, Carl and Debs to the system as well as losing the house due to Frank's (William H. Macy) decade-and-a-half of swindling the government by pretending to be the deceased Aunt Ginger, Fiona (Emmy Rossum) doesn't even have a moment to feel sorry for herself.
Emmy Rossum as Fiona in episode 8 of Shameless--the crisis continues (Cr: Showtime)
As the eldest Gallagher kid, Fiona has to act quickly and to steel herself for the next blow--and they just keep coming.
This story arc (episodes 306 - 308) has some of the heaviest, most heartfelt and splendid "Shameless" writing and performances I've yet seen on a show that has already been lauded many times for these qualities. There's nothing funny about a family being torn apart or losing their home but in true Shameless style, there's alway an undercurrent of humour at just how horrible and seemingly hopeless the situation is.
Meanwhile, life at Sheila (Joan Cusak) and Jody's (Zach McGowan) house is upended after an unexpected knock at the door (and I don't mean Karen returning) and Kev (Steve Howey) and V's (Shanola Hampton) quest for a surrogate pregnancy via her mother takes a turn for the ever-more-twisted.
SHAMELESS 307 – “A Long Way from Home” Episode Description
Knowing that Frank is the real reason DFS is on their case, Fiona
decides to seek sole custody of the kids. She just needs a full-time job
and a house. Fiona and Lip set out to forge Aunt Ginger’s will, and to
find a dead body to go with it.
Still in their respective foster homes, Debbie is forced into slave
labor in Kamala’s basement. Carl fights strict parental controls at
Cassius and Lanier’s. Ian confronts Mickey about Terry.
Frank prepares for his court appearance by getting sober and
attending AA meetings. When he learns of Fiona’s new custody plan, he
challenges her in court to maintain his parental rights. Though she is
forced to share rights with Frank, Fiona is ultimately granted
guardianship leaving Jimmy to wonder what that will mean for their
future.
Timmy Wong and his mother arrive to take Hymie. Sheila stages an
intervention to curb Jody’s sex addiction. Karen returns. And Lip learns
another will has already been filed with the court. (Credit: Showtime)

Though the Gallagher's have spoken not-quite-fondly of their previous encounters with the child welfare system, Shameless episode 3.06 – “Cascading Failures,” is the first time we see them removed and placed in emergency foster care. Unfortunately, Lip and Ian end up in a high risk-prison-like environment and Debs get tossed into an overfull house, where she is expected to keep her head down and stay busy doing childcare and clean-up for the 'lady' of the house. Do Things Seem Like They Are Getting 'More Chaotic' On Shameless?
Emmy Rossum (Fiona) and Emma Kenney (Debs) in Shameless - episode 305 on Showtime Sunday nights (Cr: Showtime)
... was the question my spouse lobbed my way after last week's episode. With a chuckle I answered, 'Aren't they always?'
The Gallaghers lives continue to spiral into chaos as Debbie gets terrorized at the pool (guess the 90-seconds-holding-her-breath-plan didn't go as planned), Carl (wearing an I Beat Cancer t-shirt) believes he is a cancer survivor, Fiona's locked in the ladies room at work by her co-workers for not performing like they do, the Gallagher's literally have a dead body buried in the back yard (and the city sewer people are on their way to dig). And then there's the small problem of Jimmy's coping with his dad coming out. Just another day for the Gallaghers.

Emma Kenney as 'Deb' beats her father, 'Frank' (William C. Macy) with a pillowcase full of soap bars in Shameless - Epiasode 302 - 'The American Dream' (Cr: Showtime)
Ever the softhearted and forgiving, especially towards her n'er-do-well sot of a father, even Debs (Emma Kenney) has had it with his antics and total lack of concern for anyone but himself. The pillowcase full of soap bars is the one Deb explains to Frank (William C. Macy) earlier in the episode that she carries on her way home in the evenings after she watches baby Hymie for Shiela (Joan Cusack). She wards off any potential attackers with the homemade weapon.
Deb really goes to town on Frank after he double disses/insults her--the results are way more impressive than I would have guessed. Frank's next scene shows him with realistic, huge welts-- everywhere Debs hit him. Emma Kenney does a really nice job with this scene. Debbie is growing up and this may be the last time she holds a vigil for dad to return hime (this time he was gone for four months). Sooner, rather than later I'm guessing, Debs will see her father as Fiona (Emmy Rossum) has learned to. No sentimentality--just cold realism.

Season 5 of Californication ended in a rather dark place: Hank (David Duchovny) was (possibly fatally(!) drugged by a bitter/crazy ex-girlfriend and based on the exclusive first look at Season 6, things will remain dark when the show resumes — at least for a little while.
"We pick up days after that in the hospital, where Hank has survived but she hasn't," Duchovny says. "This season kind of begins with Hank spiraling down."
"We go to rehab, but it's really just for comedic purposes," Duchovny says.
The video also offers you a first look at some of this season's guest stars. Tim Minchin plays a rock star wanting Hank's help in develop his book God Hates Us All into a Broadway musical.
Marilyn Manson and Maggie Grace play some of the characters Hank encounters in the rock 'n' roll world. Other treats in the clip: Charlie (Evan Handler) pretends to be gay to land a big client who wants a new agent ("gaygent") and Karen (Natascha McElhone) and Marcy (Pamela Adlon) are roomates.
Jorge Garcia will join the previously announced Maggie Grace in the new season of Showtime’s Californication.
Grace
has signed to play Faith, a groupie who develops a relationship with
Hank Moody (David Duchovny). Later, her fellow Lost costar Garcia will
make an appearance in one episode as an old contact from her past.
Garcia last appeared in the short-lived Fox drama Alcatraz from J.J.
Abrams.

It looks like Hank (David Duchovny) is literally going to be haunted by ex-girlfriend Carrie (Natalie Zea), who, after Hank broke up with her and left for California, burned down his New York apartment, then stalked Hank in California. Carrie's final destructive act, spiking Hank's drink with a potentially lethal amount of prescription drugs could prove the impetus for Hank to finally clean up his act. Can he, will it take, and would a sober Hank be a fun Hank?

Homeland - Episode 2.12 (Season Finale) 'The Choice' (Cr: Showtime)
No matter what happens on the season 2 final of Homeland, I doubt very much that it will feel ambiguous. If you've been watching thus far you know that episode 2 or 4 or even 11 could have been concluding episodes rather than contained within the season. The writers are not afraid to drive the story at dizzying speeds--yet somehow never sacrificing the character development. With Brody unmasked as a terrorist, both Vice President Walden and Abu Nazir dead, Brody's marriage over and Brody, unbeknownst to him or Carrie, with a giant target on his forehead, how can this possibly end well?
One would guess that Brody's must die. The CIA has sanctioned his death, he has a black ops assassin who is tracking him--the only thing standing between him and a bullet to the brain is Carrie--which is a pretty scary thought. There's no doubt in my mind that however this turns out, that Homeland's season 2 finale episode is going to be a real nail-biter. And we wouldn't want it any other way, right? See you Sunday!

Homeland: A Preview of the Season Finale from EP Alex Gansa - Will Brody die?
With only one episode left in its second season, Showtime’s Homeland has already dispatched two very prominent characters: Vice President Walden (Jamey Sheridan) went last week, and in episode 11's shocking hour, elusive terrorist Abu Nazir (Navid Negahban) was finally caught and killed.
Had producers known from the beginning of season 2 that Homeland‘s big bad would perish? “I think the short answer to that is yes,” says executive producer Alex Gansa. “The long answer is we weren’t actually sure how that would happen. But the reason we wanted Walden and Nazir both dead is we wanted to open the possibility that Brody and Carrie could have a happy ending, that their doomed romance was not doomed after all. The only way to make that happen was to off these two antagonists.”
... So what can Gansa tease about next week’s season finale? “The final episode is called ‘The Choice,’ and what I can say about it is .... we’ve sort of left the thriller aspects of the show behind and now we come to a very personal story about Carrie and Brody and all the obstacles that lie in the way of them being together. That is what the finale is about. It’s a real character study of these two people, where they’ve come from, how they regard each other, and whether or not there’s a future for them.”

It's time now to make your best guess as to how Dexter season 7 will wrap up.
Last week, after discovering that Hannah (Yvonne Strahovski) attempted to murder his sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter), Dex (Michael C. Hall) took decisive action after lab results from a water bottle he found in Deb's wreaked car showed the water to be 40% spiked with prescription medication that knocked Deb out while she was at the wheel of her car. He retrieved the poison pen that Hannah used to kill Sal Price, the 'true crime' writer, and turned it over to Deb so she could bring charges against Hannah for his murder. The episode closed on a solemn note with Hannah declaring as they cuffed her that Dex 'should've killed (her)'.
I have to say, I felt greatly relieved as Dexter was behaving entirely as I would think he would given the great closeness he has with Debra. I never questioned that he would 'choose' Deb over Hannah but it wasn't clear until it came to a matter of life and death. Interesting too, how Dex echoed Deb's own words about keeping company with Hannah: "You'll never be safe."
The season would seem to be wrapped up save for one very important detail: Sgt. LaGuerta's (Lauren Velez) dogged determination to clear her former lover, cop, and Dexter nemesis, James Doakes (Erik King) of the moniker of having been the "Bay Harbor Butcher.' As we saw, she narrowed the possible suspects down to Dexter and despite finding evidence to the contrary which implicated Doakes (and which she correctly suggested Dexter could have planted) and assuring her former boss Tom Matthews (Geoff Pierson) that she would cease and desist, she continues in the season finale at full steam ahead in her efforts to take Dexter down.
How far will she go? Are the promo photos and sneak peeks which indicate that Dexter is arrested real or are they a fantasty or recollection like this is?:
James Doakes (Erik King) appears in the season 7 finale of Dexter on Showtime December 16
And what about Hannah? She knows Dexter's big secret. He must have considered that she would tell the cops what she knows--and that, coupled with what LaGuerta thinks she knows would seem to be all that is needed to seal Dexter's fate.
Finally, what is Debra going to do? as Hannh rightly points our, debra is being selective in her pursuit of justice by arresting Hannah and but Allowing dexter to remain free? Will Deb's conscience get the better of her and will she free Hannah? This screen shot would seem to imply that something big happens as Hannah is out of shakles and outside Dexter's apartment!

Update: TVGuide Dexter SPOILER:
Q: Will Hannah turn in Dexter during the DEXTER finale?
A: That will be the big question of the hour. But Michael C. Hall says Dexter may come to regret turning her in for more than one reason.
"I think he was open to a sense of possibility and open to a sense of a
legitimate future in a way that he never has been before and that's not
going to be an easy thing to dismiss," he says. "He believes that
Hannah does love him and will keep his secret. He, if nothing else,
believes she'll do it out of a sense of self-righteousness, that she was
able to keep secrets in a way that he couldn't."

Homeland : 'A Few Questions' Sneak Peek VIDEO
Carrie questions the team responsible for clearing the tunnel.
When last we saw Carrie (Claire Danes) she had, with Brody's (Damian Lewis) assistance, escaped from Nazir (Navid Negahban), called for help and returned to the warehouse in which she was being held. Upon her return, she began a solo search for Nazir, unaware that black ops agent Quinn (Rupert Friend) and a terrorist capture team were about to storm the place--which is where we pick up in Sunday's episode.
It's going to be very interesting because for one thing, how is Carrie going to explain exactly, how she got away from Nazir--that her lover--Brody made a deal with Nazir to kill the Vice President? I just can't see that going over well--though I realize that patriot Carrie would have died before she would have consented to such a thing. RIP V.P. Walden--you were a slimy bastard but Jamey Sheridan did a great job making us hate you.
Nazir evaded capture and in this Sunday's episode we may find out if he will be caught or killed or both--the sneak peek implies that he gets away but sneak peeks can be sneaky that way, as I'm sure you've realized. All the more fun to discuss what we think is going to happen, right?
Speaking of happenings, Brody's wife Jessica (Morena Baccarrin) finally bedded her true love Mike (Diego Klattenhoff) while at the safehouse, explaining afterward that she felt no guilt. When Brody finally showed up, things were awkward but upon Mike's exit Jess and Brody appeared ready to discuss their situation frankly (they both desire people that are not their spouse). But inconveniently, Brody was called away by Nazir and the discussion was shelved. I think the marriage is kaput, though. There's just nothing left between them besides the kids, who are very aware of Mom and Dad's very unhappy marital situation.
This week too, the 'mole' problem which goes back to season one, is again picked up--by Carrie--who is convinced that the only way Nazir could have gotten away was if said mole helped him. I don't know. There was quite a time lapse between her escaping, running out to the highway, trying and failing several times to flag down someone to borrow a cellphone from, phoning the 'home office', and then making her way back to the huge warehouse. Why couldn't Nazir have just slipped away, possibly using his own terrorist connections? I am glad the mole issue is at least being addressed because it's not at all a small issue. I've heard rumblings that Saul (Mandy Patinkin) is the mole which I don't believe, that Estes (David Harewood) is--he, I could've believed the mole last season but this far into season 2, I'm thinking he's more an asshole than a mole. At this point, my best guess is 'Danny,' the guy that got caught in the gunfight along with Quinn and who last we heard had a 50-50 chance of recovering. He showed up in the last episode having left Walter Reed Hospital AMA, arm in a sling, saying he wanted to help find Carrie--but who knows.
There's just 2 more episodes, people. This season has gone by in a flash. I've really dug it--the characters and the great writing/high tension of every episode have solidified my state of being hooked on this show and I'll miss Homeland when it goes on hiatus. So glad it was renewed for a third season!

To the surprise of some, Jessica recently “reconnected” (so to speak) with old flame Mike, and seems to have no regrets about it. “I think she is allowing herself to go there, not knowing what is going to happen – and that is OK,” Morena Baccarin told us of her character’s mindset. “She’s been depleted for so long in her relationship with Brody that she is just finally getting something for herself.” Though that something may seem newly messy now, with Brody appropriately suspicious of the rekindled affair, Baccarin promises that by the season finale airing Dec. 16, “There will be resolution” one way or another.

Just caught up and watched this episode. Turns out that Hannah's
father is pretty much what you'd expect of a guy who was OK with letting
his daughter (almost) drown as a young child.
Some major attitude adjusting continues to go on between Deb and Dex.
Debra makes Dex a promise in regard to Hannah McKay but how far that
promise will extend into the future remains an open question. In fact,
there are several 'open questions,' with Laguerta's re-investigation of
the Bay Harbour Butcher case and her bringing her old boss Tom, on-board
to help with the case, probably the most compelling, not including the Dex-Deb-Hannah situation. What a mess!
It seems that the heat is going to remain on 'high' all the way through the finale--which is soon!

activities by Estes. Brody and Vice President Walden find themselves at

Season 2, Episode 9 of Showtime's "Homeland," "Two Hats."
Recap:
The episode opens with Estes, Quinn, Saul and Carrie puzzling over the disappearance of Brody.
Finally, Carrie has to be the one to say it: "He's dead. If not physically dead,
then operationally dead." If he's alive, then Estes' plan to roll up
Roya will surely kill him.
Homeland's episode 209, "Two Hats," which was on par with the best episodes of a spectacular season 2, kept both the characters and the audience on their toes as they piled on the intrigue.
Among the most "intriguing," happenings were Estes (David Harewood), Quinn (Rupert Friend), Saul (Mandy Patinkin)
and Carrie (Claire Danes) trying to figure out what Abu Nazir (Navid Negahban) has planned, and whether or
not they can trust Brody to help thwart those plans.
Even if Brody is telling the truth, there's
the possibility that Nazir is using him to throw the CIA off his trail.
Then you've got Carrie, Saul, Virgil and Max trying to figure out who "John X slash Peter Quinn" is working for
and what is 'the plan,' exactly?
Meanwhile, Jessica lost no time in hooking up with serious good guy "Mike Faber" (played by native Nova Scotian, Diego Klattenhoff) in the guest room of the CIA safe house.
Cut to Brody, who is, Surprise! alive. A clean-shaven Nazir bids farewell to Brody saying
he trusts in him because Allah trusts in him. As soon as Nazir speeds
away in his car, Brody runs to a restaurant to ask for a payphone and, when that
fails, a cell phone. He calls Carrie and tells her to move his family
somewhere safe, then wait for another call in an hour.
Carrie, who has a vested interest in seeing Jessica resume her affair with
Uncle Mike, sends him to scoop up the family and spirit them away to a luxe condo safehouse where they are free to pursue their passions:
Dana emanating gloom from every pore, Chris gazing like a simpleton at
all the flat-screen TV's, Jessica asking unanswerable questions about
Brody's mission, Uncle Mike cooking yet another breakfast...just like the family they would've been if Brody hadn't returned--which daughter Dana is now lamenting.
Brody calls again and says to Carrie, "Remember where we first met, and I
don't mean your office?" She replies,"In the rain?" Carrie goes where things got started between the two of them outside the veterans support group and jumps in the passenger
seat.
"I thought I was dead, Carrie," he says. She knows just how close he was. She has
to haul him in before Estes and the gang. Brody's recounting of his missing 12 hours is not 100% convincing. Whether he is still badly shaken and is eager to please or if the fact that he omits having prayed just hours before with Nazir, I really cannot tell. His story seems to be corroborated by dramatic reenactments. Does that
mean he's telling the truth? Or could they be dramatizations of his
lies? And how are we to interpret the scene of him praying with Nazir,
which he declines to mention for obvious reasons. Brody says Nazir has decided to "die taking the fight to the enemy." His
plan is to blow up 300 returning Special Forces soldiers at a
homecoming ceremony with Walden and Brody. Brody's mission is to get
Walden to let Roya cover the event with her camera van full of
explosives.
Carrie thinks Brody's telling the truth. The plan, she says, is
"quintessential Nazir." Everyone else is more skeptical. The best part
comes when Saul is watching on a closed-circuit TV as Brody pulls some
'confesses' to Carrie about how he 'only cares what (she) thinks'.
Quinn
creeps up to more closely listen to the interaction on the screen, and Saul says, "Think you're the only one who
understands that this fucker needs watching like a hawk?" Indeed.

Game of Thrones - Season 3 - Set Photos - Khaleesi & Ser Jorah (thumbnails):
Can't argue that the Game of Thrones season 3 sets and costumes don't look as amazinglynrealistic as ever. I imagine a tour of the sets would be a truly spectacular experience but since I don't think it feasible to travel so afar at this time, these photos will have to suffice.
Despite the inevitable nit-picking from the the devout Game of Thrones 'bookies' that rue the transition of the look of a fantasy book character to the costuming of an actual actor who is not going to be trussed up and CGI'ed like say, Gollum in the big screen LotR, I see no reason to complain that Daario is missing his 'blue hair and 3-prong blue beard with gold mustachio tips.' To be most forthright, this aspect of the series--all of the Mother of Dragons/Khaleesi adventures is the least interesting of the series thus far. To say they give her 'nothing' to do' is rather an exaggertion; to assess that she really does not accomplish a lot given how much time she expends doing it? That might be fair. My truth is that every time I get to a 'Khaleesi' chapter in the Game Of Thrones series I wish to skip it, though I don't. I'm hoping that Emilia Clarke, the actor portraying her, will somehow mine something of interest (besides Ser Jorah) out of the television adaption. To sum up, I hope the whole Mother of Dragons aspect of the books is greatly improved for the television adaption--that, or her screen time is reduced.

Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) finally comes clean to Dex about her (pre-catching him serial killing in the church) feelings about him, albeit in a way that I wouldn't have chosen. I thought it a bit too much of a stretch too soon after finding out sibling Dexter is a serial killer, to get all wrapped up in how appropriate Deb's feelings for her 'in-name-only' brother. (They were foster kids in the same foster family.) I get how they only have one another and she was very dependent and looked up to him all her life--that there would be sibling 'love'--but even off-screen, this stuff sometimes happens.
Dexter has a definitive reaction to the news which will complicate/probably kill any future love affair potential.<exhale>

More DEXTER Episode 708 Promo PHOTOS and DEXTER 707 Recap (Excerpt) after the jump:
Chris Hemsworth strikes a pose in new behind-the-scenes PHOTO set from his Thor sequel THOR: THE DARK WORLD:
It’s been a while since we last saw some images from the set of Marvel’s sequel Thor: The Dark World, but today some new photos have popped online featuring star Chris Hemsworth filming in London... Apparently the scene in question involves the character throwing his hammer down and summoning some good old-fashioned lightning.
Directed by Alan Taylor, the film also stars Natalie Portman, Christopher Eccleston, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, and Tom Hiddleston.
The photos do tell part of the story. The Dana and the son of-the-VP boyfriend hit-and-run story ties up--pretty straightforwardly but there's a glitch, as you can see in the promo photos. Things look pretty hunky-dory with daughter and dad (Damian Lewis) now that Dana (Morgan Saylor) has unburdened herself and she and dad are on their way to the local precinct to fill out an accident report/confess. But just then--our Ms. Mathison (Claire Danes) steps into the picture , which is not at all cool with Dana or her dad.

As David Harewood, who plays David Estes in HOMELAND succinctly puts it in the 'Debrief' video extra below, '(Homeland) is a show where you never know what is going to happen next.'
If you saw last week's crazy-great episode you know exactly what he's talking about (and I so agree with him!)
As soon as an episode becomes available I jump right on it. Homeland is literally my very favourite show on television right now.
Homeland : Debrief: New Car Smell (VIDEO):
The cast discuss the climatic ending of episode 4.
I cannot recall the last time a television show--a political thriller at that, literally made me gasp in shock at what transpired onscreen. And I'm not talking the mind-bending capture of Brody at the end of the last episode. Oh no, there is so much more to come and yet as Morena Baccarin ('Jessica') says in the "debrief' video, "You think to yourself, if Brody gets taken down it's the end of the show--but of course, it's not--it sets up episode 5 and we get to see what happens when Brody is taken in and which way he's gonna go.'
So what do you think is going to happen to Brody? Will he cooperate? Will he break? Will the CIA use as brutal tactics as Abu Nazir did when he captured Brody? So many questions!
This Sunday's episode of HOMELAND is called Q & A. Here's the synopsis as well as links to two enticing sneak peeks--or if you prefer, just after the jump I've embedded the sneak peeks right here in this post. Enjoy!
Damian Lewis and guest star Rupert Friend in Homeland - Episode 205 on Showtime Oct 28 (Credit: Showtime)
Brody finds himself prisoner again, but this time it’s on American
soil. Meanwhile, Carrie is forced to play second fiddle after her rash
judgment call at the hotel, as Estes is busy sweeping the tracks clean
to keep Jessica off their trail. And Dana’s relationship with Finn is
taken to the next level from fun to deadly serious. (Credit: Showtime)
Though Homeland season 2 was great from the first episode, we are just now getting into to some really heavy stuff. If you thought Homeland episode 3 was intense then buckle in because things are about to get more Topsy-turvy in episode 204. And if you think that HOMELAND might take a breather for episode 205, forget it. It gets even more crazy-compelling.
Like the best political thrillers, Homeland hooks you in, starting with its complex, conflicted characters. From as low as you think one might go then flipping and soaring to great highs the characters are bounding all over the place emotionally, psychologically, it's pretty wild. It's not lost on me that the tone of the show can seem to echo Carrie's illness, 'bipolar disorder.' Since Carrie is seemingly complying with her meds, its seems OK if Homeland itself takes us for a wild ride.
All I can say is there is some heavy stuff coming up. It's a constant, crazy rush from episodes 3-5 (and maybe beyond, it wouldn't surprise me.)
Homeland Episode 2.0 - 'He Made A Tape' VIDEO:
Saul arrives at Este's home with some intriguing evidence.
(Above: "the tape")
I love how Mandy Patinkin (above), as many people of a certain age would, refers to the digital recording as 'a tape'. It gives HOMELAND an authentic feel from smaller bits like this one to the real relationship that is present when Patinkin ('Saul,' Carrie's handler) is on-screen with 'Carrie' (Claire Danes).
I like too in this scene that Estes (David Harewood), who has just hear about the biggest piece of information he could ever get, does not lose his cool, or cede an authority to Saul. He instead insists on continuing to run things despite how not-great he's done on the whole Abu Nazir thing thus far.
SYNOPSIS HOMELAND Episode 204:
Homeland : A Lot of Eyes Sneak Peek VIDEO:
Carrie and Saul keep a watch on Brody.
HOMELAND Episode 204 – “New Car Smell”
Following a secret debrief from Saul, a stunned Estes authorizes a covert operation to pursue intel recovered in Beirut–but not without putting his own trusted operative in charge. Brody, still reeling from his misadventures with the bombmaker, gets another shock when he runs into Carrie at Langley. A casual invitation to bury the hatchet turns into an encounter neither of them could have foreseen. And Dana discovers she has something in common with Finn Walden, the Vice President’s son. Directed by David Semel (Showtime)

Yvonne Strahovski joins Dexter as 'woman-with-past, "Hannah McKay"
Dexter: Warning! The stakes just got higher... again
Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) warns Dexter (Michael C. Hall) that if he continues with his 'life choices' 'bad shit' is going to find him and Harrison. She pleads with Dex to consider sending Harrison to be raised by Rita's parents with his half sibs, Aster & Cody. Dexter strongly resists the idea, arguing that he--Dexter can best raise and protect his son, no one else. It's fun to watch Debra go through stages of gaining some slight acceptance of the knowlege that her brother is a serial killer and then swings all the way to 'no way in hell' can she allow Dexter to kill one more person. Despite her shifting feelings she will ultimately pick a side but she cannot ever feel good about it.
Spoiler hint for episode 704 Dexter 'Run.'
Dexter gives up something precious in this episode.
I am an episode ahead in viewing Dexter and am really intrigued by the Dex/Hannah budding relationship. Something totally inverted from what I expected happened involving the two. It really was executed nicely, turning some rather plot-heavy tables on one of them.
Hannah is 'off' somehow. Her affect is...wooden. Now she speaks of 'rumour' that Dexter was the last person to speak to Wayne before his suidice by Mack truck. Why does she care, given especially what Wayne had told Dexter-- that Hannah wanted nothing to do with him? Strange. Why does she wish to know his last words and re-live something she said she was 'trying to put behind' her?
