I've remarked upon it earlier in this stellar season 5 of Nurse Jackie but it bears repeating: Edie Falco as Jackie has smiled more, halfway through season 5 than she did during the entirety of seasons 1-4. I don't care if this sounds like fangirl gushing--she is so pretty when her face lights up. Beyond the surface happiness, there is plenty going on in Jackie's life--being in recovery is a key part of her life but so (still) are her kids, her job and the small circle of friends she has (all at work). She's divorced Kevin and she's dating a cop who genuinely likes her--a lot--and who is the reason for all the smiling. Will this match stick? Tune in to find out, Nurse Jackie fans!

Merrit Wever and Morris Chestnut 'Nurse Jackie' Episode 507 (Cr: Showtime)

I think you are going to have a reaction anywhere from pleasantly surprised to shocked out of the comfort of your chair, at how incredible actors Merrit Wever and Morris Chestnut are in this scene (be sure to tune in Sunday night and watch it in its entirety).

SPOILER I would not have envisioned putting these two together as a couple, would you? But the chemistry between them is palpable. Kudos to the casting people and writers. Morris Chesnut as Dr. Prentiss is filling in a gap I hadn't even realized was there. He brings not only hunky good looks but loads of charisma buried beneath a tough-as-nail-exterior. He and Zoe do in fact 'do it'--with Zoe calling the shots!

A drunken Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) objects to this final insult to the massive injury he and Sansa have suffered at his father's hands. Tyrion threatens the King who is practically speechless because ya know, no one does that to the grand royal sociopath and lives--but grandpa Tywin (Charles Dance) comes to the rescue, explaining that he is sure that Tyrion meant the 'threat' as a joke. Tyrion isn't that drunk so he plays along as being even more soused, forcing a laugh and belittling his own male attributes.

After a rather long-winded, vaguely threatening recounting by Cersei (Lena Headey) to Margaery (Natalie Dorner) of the basis of the song 'The Rains of Castamere,'  Cersei responds to Margaery's previous overture that they will be sisters so they should become friends with, 'If you ever call me sister again, I'll have you strangled in your sleep.'

I disagree that they are teasing this early in the pre-season, Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) 'making a confession' to the police in light of the fact that we hear audio of a phone call between Dexter and Joey Quinn (Desmond Harrington) in which Quinn tells Dex that 'Your sister was brought in for a DUI last night.' I think Debra is in no shape to make a coherent statement; it is in fact one of many times, I'm guessing, that Deb will almost spill her dark secrets in this final season of Dexter.

A skateboarder comes in with a broken arm. Jackie makes Coop promise he’ll give Carrie the next patient. Cruz enters, ready to do his exit interview. Everyone is unsure how to feel about and act around him.

Jackie tells Cruz last night was a mistake., but that’s not how he feels.

Prentiss dismisses Anthony, a young black boy, as a drug seeker, but Jackie orders a few tests.

When she checks on Louie, he frees himself of his restraints and pushes Jackie over.

The commotion triggers a reaction in Anthony, which Prentiss recognizes as PTSD.

Jackie arrives at Cruz’s apartment and gives him a final kiss goodbye. Later, she share a first-time kiss with Frank.

Can You Spot Any Clues in This Dexter Season 8 BTS Photo Set?

Above is a lovely set of HQ photos of the Dexter Miami Metro set.

So what, if anything, can we gather as clues about Dexter's 8th and final season from these images?

Besides that the lights are on and no one appears to be home, we can see that Dexter has filmed at least through episode 806--halfway to the finish line! Also, we know that John Dahl is directing epsiode 806, which is titled 'A Little Reflection' and will air on Showtime on August 4, 2013.

Additionally, Dexter episode 806 was written by James Manos, Jr., who has worked in different capacities on both The Sopranos and The Shield as well as previously on Dexter.

According to IMDb, Dexter episode 806  has a guest cast that includes Dora Madison Burge as 'Niki', Sean Patrick Flanery as 'Jacob Elroy', Bethany Joy Lenz as 'Cassie', Charlotte Rampling as Dr. Evelyn Vogel, Yvonne Strahovski as Hannah McKay and Jadon Wells  as Dexter's newly cast son, Harrison Morgan.

Johnson will play U.S. Marshall Cooper, a no-nonsense and formidable lawman who is hired by P.I. Jacob Elway (recurring guest star Sean Patrick Flanery) to hunt down an infamous criminal.

NURSE JACKIE 505 – “Good Thing” Episode Details

Jackie continues to be pulled in opposite directions of the emotional spectrum. On the one hand, a nice, stable, funny guy is interested in her and they have begun to date. At the same time, Jackie's eldest daughter Grace, is acting out; she's lying and dating an age-inappropriate guy and in general, has a surly attitude. Even little Fiona is misbehaving enough that her school master has a conference with Jackie and Kevin. Then there's the issue of custody with Kevin and most profoundly, Jackie's tenuous sobriety. How much pressure can Jackie handle as she navigates her first year sober--without any kind of outside support? It's a question that will remain open until there's an answer.

Jackie starts her day telling Grace she’s not allowed to go to a school dance with her boyfriend. Jackie is nervous about her date with Frank later that night. Zoey and Thor decide they’ll help her get ready.

A dancer comes in with a hurt knee. Prentiss diagnoses it as a sprain and discharges him but Akalitus and Coop catch his spiral fracture just as he’s about to leave.

 Prentiss and Zoey work in perfect harmony on a pregnant gunshot victim who collapses in the waiting room. Later that night, Jackie and Frank skip the fancy restaurant in favor of a pub. It’s a great date with a good guy. All is going well until Jackie’s phone rings: It’s Mike Cruz, urging her to lose the date.

 She follows Cruz to his apartment and he confronts her about calling Charlie’s phone. He falls apart talking about Charlie. A moment of shared grief turns into connection and need and they have sex.

At the same time, Grace and her friends sneak out to the dance and a surprise police raid separates Grace from Danny and all of her friends. Alone on the streets of New York, Grace frantically tries calling Jackie but all of her calls go to voicemail. Back at Cruz’s apartment, Jackie notices her missed calls and rushes out to pick up Grace.

Arya lost her last, best friend when the ever-somber Melisandre paid an unannounced visit to the Brotherhood Without Banners. Despite Gendry's protestations that he wished to become one of the Brotherhood and his worth to them as a blacksmith, he was sold off to the red witch for a couple of bags of gold.

Arya called Mel out as the witch she is and SPOILER correctly predicted that Gendry's fate in the witch's hands would be grim. (Remember the line Mel had about Stannis not being only one with King's blood? Gendry is the bastard son of Stannis's brother, the deceased King Robert Baratheon.)

Melisandre fixed her gaze on Arya and most likely nailed it when she insinuated that Arya would be responsible for many deaths in the future. She also, in her trademark spooky way, told Arya that they would meet again.

The first time we met Dexter's Debra Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter) on the job, she was on the street--literally. She was so far down the rung of the cop hierarchy that she worked undercover as a prostitute and knew all the working girls on a first-name basis.

As time moved forward, so did Debra, until the day she achieved her dream of becoming a detective. Deb was very good at what she did and probably would have remained working as a detective for the foreseeable future. But Deb's future became something that never, in her darkest dreams, could she have imagined. Because her boss, the hyper-ambitious, unethical Maria LaGuerta used her as a pawn, Debra was thrust into the role of Lieutenant of Miami Metro, a job she neither desired nor was in any way prepared for. Deb however, was determined to make the best of it and she was managing OK until her world fell apart when she literally walked into a crime scene--that of her beloved brother Dexter (Michael C. Hall), stabbing his latest prey right in the heart.

In shock and disbelief, Deb agreed to allow Dexter to cover up the crime but she insisted he stop killing altogether. Dexter, for his sister's sake, tried to resist his urges, but in the end he went back to killing, which became an insurmountable problem for Debra.

LaGuerta again forced her way into the picture, only this time she was in pursuit of Dexter who she believed was the Bay Harbor Butcher instead of the deceased Sgt. Doakes. Ultimately, in a container in a shipping yard, Debra had to make the choice between sparing Dexter and effectively condemning her brother to death for his crimes or killing Dexter, which she found impossible to do.

As we open up Dexter's final season, six months have passed since the moment that Deb changed from a cop to a killer. As Dexter laments in this Deb-centric video, he has destroyed his sister.

Where can the two possibly go from here? Might Deb embrace a dark side of her own--and what form would that take? Meanwhile, how is Dexter to help Deb when he's still indulging his darkest side and she cannot bear the sight of him? It's gonna be very interesting to see where season 8 takes them--and us!

Throughout the series, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) has had to make up dozens of excuses--lies, actually--on the fly but he's nothing if not a quick thinker. He's probably lied more to his sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) than anyone, provoking her to ask, 'Where in fucktopia were you?' Dexter has had a lot of "personal business," that seems to puzzle Deb--though she never really questioned his honesty, before last season, when this happened:

Debra had to chose in the season 7 finale whether to shoot her boss, Maria LaGuerta, who had uncovered Dexter's serial killing ways and was begging Deb to 'put him down.' Dexter smoothly manipulated the situation, encouraging Deb that she had no other choice but to shoot him. After anguishing for what seemed like an enternity, Deb shot LaGuerta in cold blood, sparing her cold-blooded serial killer brother.

Looking at the screencaps (above) from the Nurse Jackie promo for episode 5.04 "Lost Girls,' one thing in particular stands out. Other than when she's directly interacting with her girls or with BFF Dr. O'Hara, we never see Jackie look this happy. It's a completely different Nurse Jackie because unlike the forced smiles when she was abusing painkillers, this is a real 'whole face' smile. It's very attractive, don't you think?

However, real life has a way of breaking in and smiles fade soon enough. In this episode, Jackie must deal with both her girls acting out. It may be due to the discord that the separation and custody fight caused or in Grace's case, it may just be the terrible teens. Jackie also must deal with the still obviously smitten, Eddie. They have to work together and Jackie stills cares for him so she comes up with a simple way to make sure they are on the same "page". It's a really nice scene and there's a sense of an end--finally--to the air of hostility between them.

We are still getting to know the seemingly inept, iPhone-addicted Dr. Roman.  She's a master manipulator of men and she is quite successful, especially concerning Coop (shocking, I know).

Akalitus's memory issues make have put a patient with a secret at great risk, not to mention All Saint's, but could it be possible that we've underestimated her? Tune in for all this and much more!

NURSE JACKIE 504 – “Lost Girls”Episode Details

An agitated and heavily medicated Jane Doe is brought into the ER. Jackie and Kevin are called into Fiona’s school because she’s been acting out in class. Jackie catches Grace sneaking around the city to see her much older boyfriend. When Jackie gets back to the hospital, she learns that Akalitus lost Jane Doe just as her concerned husband shows up at the hospital. Akalitus tells Jackie that the “concerned” husband has been drugging Jane Doe and she’s helping her get to a safe house. When Prentiss finds out, the nurses unite to take the blame, but he surprises them all by saying if this happens again they should come to him.

We are rapidly approaching the season 8 premiere of Dexter, which will also bring us the series' conclusion. Since this is such a crucial part of the entire series, I'm laying out now how I will share information about Dexter episodes before they air.

In writing about Dexter I've done my best to separate true spoilers from the 'in-case-you-are-behind-on-your-viewing 'spoilers.' Forever A Fangirl's policy is, if the episode has been broadcast or in some way made legally available for the public to view, then anything said about it is not a spoiler.

Put simply, spoilers happen before the episode is broadcast. Just the same, since there's just not enough room to explain the nuances of a sorta-spoiler, a small spoiler and a SPOILER in my blog post titles, I'm using the word 'spoiler' whenever I have intel on an episode or character or story arc that has not aired.

That said, any inside information that I may have picked up prior to a Dexter epsiode being broadcast I will share--up to a point. Otherwise, why bother watching? Perhaps 'tease' is a better word, as if you are determined enough you may glean from the tease enough info to put two and two together. OK? Okay.

Showtime issued a press release today which you can scroll down to read. Though it is cool to know that the story picks up six months after Deb murdered Maria Laguerta, I'm going to hone in on the enticing mention of this character:

First up is Dr. Evelyn Vogel, a formidable and whip smart neuro-psychiatrist in her late 50s who assists the law in profiling criminals.

This is what Showtime said about her today:

'a mysterious woman comes to work with Miami Metro, offering first-hand information on Dexter’s past.'

Previously, Showtime described her thusly: "a neuro-psychiatrist who specializes in working with young psychopaths and profiling criminals in unorthodox ways" (my italics).

British acting veteran Charlotte Rampling is joining Dexter (I believe her part is considered 'recurring') as Dr. Evelyn Vogel. Here she is pictured at work:

I don't know about you, but I'd say what Dr. Vogel is doing in this screenshot is pretty 'unorthodox'.

Next week's episode of Game Of Thrones is aptly named "The Climb' as it refers to the journey Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and the Wildings, led by Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju), make to The Wall with the intention of climbing it and 'building the biggest fire you've ever seen'. Giantsbane, though he's told Jon he likes him, gives him a stern warning all the same: If Jon falls during his long slippery ascent, he is not to scream.

There may be other situations that have been previewed that might entail 'a climb,' as often with the duel/multiple-meaning titled eppys, at least one meaning is not literal.

I'm concerned about Roose Bolton, who now holds Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth's fate in his hands. He is said to be among the most ruthless of all the antagonists in Game Of Thrones.

 Otherwise, we have this shot in the preview that is troubling. I have no idea what is wrong with Jojen (Thomas Brodie-Sangster)--it appears that he is having a seizure (?)

We know that in the next episode of Game Of Thrones, the red witch, Melisandre, is traveling to the Riverlands to meet with SPOILER Gendry (Joe Dempsie), of all people. Prior to leaving, she explained to Stannis that he was not the only one with the blood of a king and she was leaving to seek another. Perhaps Gendry's remark to Arya that he was tired of being beholden to others and wished to be a free man held more meaning than it seemed, foreshadowing the arrival of the witch and with her, what may entice him.

Showtime has been busy piling on the season 8 Dexter videos--not that anyone is complaining! If you keep a close eye out, there are several semi-spoiler-y images that you can check out. I screencapped them all so you can do your own sleuthing but from the top we have: David Zayas, who plays Batista, appears to have taken Deb's place as per his stance at the podium in the staff meeting room. That then means that Deb has stepped down as Lieutenant and from the looks of this sneak peek she's gone down a couple of rungs to doing undercover work.

Speaking of police work, in the 'Dexter Season 8: In Production with David Zayas' clip, after he introduces his son who is his stand-in, we can see part of the whiteboard where the details of the current crime investigation are laid out. We have a serial killer whose crimes have been dubbed the "Surgeon Murders." We also have serveral shots which illustrate some of the Surgeon's work like this one, which, bonus! includes Charlotte Rampling:

In the Killer or Innocent Victim Dexter Clip, Dexter frets about what he has done to Debra's psyche. After spending much of his life protecting her, he may now have destroyed her. Jennifer Carpenter, who plays Debra, does a particularly great job of expressing a wide range of emotions in the clip, which is one of the reasons we love her so.

The Behind A Mask Dexter Clip again has Michael C. Hall, who plays Dexter, doing the voice-over. He's fretting again, this time about how his mask is slipping evermore and he's certain that his time of remaining the anonymous vigilante is coming to an end.

True Blood returns in June, and HBO has released the third of multiple “Waiting Sucks” videos that give us a behind-the-scenes look at the new season.

This short scene involves the interrogation by Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård) of Willa Burrell (Amelia Rose Blaire) the daughter of anti-vampire Louisiana Governor Creighton Burrell (Arliss Howard). Willa tells Eric of vampire abductions and torture. The governor's daughter has been described as being sympathetic to the vampire cause so Eric is probably just showing off when he 'drops fang'. Or not.

True Blood Season 6 will have 10 episodes (cut from 12), with the first episode airing on June 16th at 9:00 pm. There are many new characters this season, including those played by Rutger Hauer, Arliss Howard, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Amelia Rose Blaire, Karolina Wydra, and Luke Grimes.

Unsurprisingly, Edie Falco as Nurse Jackie has created a character every bit as memorable (and in some ways, more so) as she did previously on the premium cable mega-hit on the "not television" channel a few years ago.

Without hesitation, I can say that season 5 of Nurse Jackie is the most satisfying yet. It is not that the prior seasons were of a lower caliber--far from it--but this season feels really fresh--the tone has changed.

Despite Jackie working on her first year of sobriety, she is nowhere near 'done' getting sober. Her life is a mess--she's in the middle of a divorce and custody battle--with a pre-teen and a teenage daughter. Work at the hospital certainly isn't any less stressful, especially with the new intern (Betty Gilpin) who 'scares (Jackie) to death every time she gets near a patient." There's a (gorgeous) new chief (Morris Chestnut) to contend with as well, though Jackie seems to do so with elan. However, Gloria (Anna Deavere Smith) who has barely regained her administrative position after being demoted to nurse, is acting strangely forgetful and the new chief is quickly losing patience with her,

And now in episode 3, Jackie meets her future. Maybe.

True Blood Season 6 SPOILER Alert!

At the end of True Blood season 5, Ex.-Rev. Steve Newlin (Steve McMillian) was keeping Luna's (Janina Gavankar) daughter Emma as a pet, while Luna and Sam (Sam Trammell) were captive in vampire HQ. All hell was breaking out everywhere, inside and out of the HQ, so the ex-Rev. was enlisted to encourage his flock to chill via satellite televised signal.

Off-screen, Sam and Luna incapacitated Newlin and Luna did the very-bad-for-you, potentially lethal, shape-shift into a real person (become their twin) which, did I mention, was sometimes lethal, as it was for Sam's lil bro, Tommy?

Last we see of Sam and Luna, she has passed out (or died) from the effort of faking being Steve Newlin for the TV audience whilst all hell was breaking loose in vampire HQ on account of Lilith, now "Billith'.

Based on the fact that Alcide (Joe Manganiello) and his number 2 as well as grandma 'Martha' (Dale Dickey, see caps), are caring for little Emma, it would seem that Luna did not survive the season 5 finale.

 You may recognize the guy at top in the director's chair. That is Stephen Moyer, who co-stars on True Blood as vampire Bill Compton. Last we saw him was at the end of season 5 after he bought the hype about the ancient vampire 'Lilith', drank her blood, and went down the rabbit hole. Bill was at vampire central command, blood-encrusted, naked, and really, really angry and it appears that he's about to wreak the ultimate havoc--burn the place to the ground.

It would seem then that Sookie (Anna Paquin), who was at vamp HQ with Eric and 'Billith' when last we saw her, must have escaped to be able to confront Jason as he's about to put a wooden bullet through Eric's sister, Nora Gainesborough (Lucy Griffiths).

Jason (Ryan Kwanten) is still clad as he was when he and others infiltrated Vamp HQ. and others, humans,vampires and shifters, he was with have not yet had their "Waiting Sucks' teases yet. But, as we get closer to the June 16 premiere date of True Blood on HBO we should be able to put more pieces together beyond one of the first to be looked at: How much time has elapsed since the last scene of season 5?

From the shots we've seen thus far of the True Blood season 6 cast, we are picking up right where we left off.

I'm going to bet that the idea of Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) marrying Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) to both 'do something' with the girl, and to keep her close as the war of the kingdoms continues, was Cersei's. She looks way too pleased with herself. If that is what is happening in the sequence of shots above. I'm going strictly on Tyrion's facial expressions and a single snip of dialogue that may or may not be from this scene (can't tell).

It's kind of cringe-inducing watching Kevin (Dominic Fumusa) and Jackie (Edie Falco) go for each other's jugulars but their breaking up was probably a good thing as they were a pretty boring couple--life around them alone was pretty airless.

If you haven't been spoiled yet on this it should not be a shocker: Now-sober and in divorce (custody) proceedings Jackie starts back into the dating game.

Jackie and Kevin are not setting really good boundaries for their 'ex' marital spats which, come to think of it, they didn't bother doing when they were a supposedly happy couple, back when Jackie was a pill-head who bedded the pharmacist to get painkillers to feed her addiction. Yikes, there's been forward movement--for Jackie, anyway, as you'll see in the next handful of episodes. BIG emotional ups and downs, including examining a parent's worst nightmare via a former colleague who lost his son--Jackie's treatment program buddy--OD'd and died so his father--Jackie's boss upped and quit as head of the hospital. He wants a private exit interview with Jackie--stat!

Their have been some really fresh casting choices and surprising developments in the story but the 'best' surprise in season five is about how great Nurse Jackie remains. Seven episodes in to Nurse Jackie's- fifth season and this is my favourite of all the seasons so far.

Jackie and Kevin at a stalemate in their divorce mediation. Unless Jackie can figure out her work hours, Kevin wants full custody....Jackie takes advantage of Akalitus’s memory lapses and gets her to sign off on a schedule but Kevin surprises her by announcing he’s petitioning for psych tests on the girls. Jackie, overwhelmed by the day, downloads to the only person who will understand. She calls Charlie Cruz’s voicemail. When Jackie gets home, Zoey surprises her with the girls, cake, a piñata, and a surprise Skype guest, O’Hara. Grace releases her wrath on the piñata.

Since Dexter has been murdering people for 20 years, he's able to glide smothly past Maria LaGuerta's death by Deb's bullet (after Deb was forced by Maria-- to chose betweem Maria and Dexter).

Deb, never the picture of emotionally stability,  has something to process or 'live with' for the rest of her life and she must reconcile herself with it, fully which the latest season 8 shots seem to imply that she's not as indicated on a recent DEXTER post on this blog.

Dexter has fallen from revered older brother to sociopath older bro with whom and because of whom, Debra has jeopardized her career/her life.

I've watched the first five episodes of the new season of Nurse Jackie after having watched since it premiered 4 years ago. I am so very pleased with it and I think you will be, too.

At it's core, the show is about a head nurse who outwardly, has it all together--she's extremely competant, a leader, instills confidence in others--then it spins out of control due to her drug addiction. By this season's opener, Nurse Jackie has gone to rehab, completing eight of the steps, and has been sober for about 9 months, give or take. But she insists on staying sober by playing by her own rules which makes for a razor thin line for Jackie to walk while staying on top of her 70-hour a week job, going through the wrenching emotional mechanics of a divorce/deciding who gets the girls. Could their be room for romance, too? That would be a first--but then, so is her sobriety so don't miss what will be the best ever season of Nurse Jackie.

As much as I love  a solid TV news exclusive like this one from EW, I still enjoy the on-set Tweets from Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter's sister, 'Deb') the most (@J2theCarpenter). Have a look at  some of the shots she's posted (as well as a fan shot). I'd bet my eldest son, that Carpenter's onscreen character, Debra Morgan, is going to find herself driving into a pond and looking a bit worse for wear (see photo) afterwards. No context yet other than Carpenter referring to the scene as happening in episode 4, which I guess actually is some context. The actress is set to reprise her role in a multi-episode arc this summer as Hannah McKay, the gorgeous killer florist. Last season, Hannah became Dexter’s twisted love interest and a major thorn in his side. When we last saw her in the seventh season finale, Hannah had escaped from prison, and Dex was seemingly lucky to get away from her. “We both knew it would come to this, one of us dead or behind bars,” Dexter said. With Hannah returning, we suspect this time one of them (or both?) won’t escape so easily.

Since the former Rev. Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian) returned to the show--as a vampire no less--True Blood fans have occassionally asked: Where is the former Mrs. Newlin? Now we know:

TVLine has learned exclusively that Anna Camp has signed on to reprise her role as 'anti-vamp puritan,' Sarah Newlin for a guest stint.

Most of Shameless' season 3 finale, 'Survival of the Fittest' was bittersweet. Beginning with Fiona's desperate attempts to contact Jimmy, whose phone is at the bottom of Lake Michigan, as Jimmy himself may be, to Lip getting his high school diploma and finding out he has a full ride to MIT--for which he thanks Mandy. Then we had Ian forging an ID for himself, saying he's 18 y.o. old and joining the Army. Karen, Jody and baby Hymie packed up for Arizona and left Sheila an empty-nester. More bitter than sweet, is that the love that both Debs and Carl have for their their wayward father is as strong as ever as Frank's years of drugging and drinking catch up to him and he lands, seriously ill, in the hospital.

The video above dissects the scene with Carl making his way to his dad's hospital room in the dark of a wintery Chicago night, in hopes of helping Frank to heal.

Read on for a short excerpt of the excellent interview with Emmy Rossum (Fiona) in which she talks of if Jimmy and  Fiona are really over and the making of that memorable coffeehouse scene that preceded his disappearance.

“I take it that at the end of Episode 11, you’re to assume that he got on the boat and he’s not coming back,” says star Emmy Rossum. “We saw what happened to the last person who got on that boat. Remember? The first guy in the first episode, they chopped him up and they threw him off the boat.” Given that Beto tossed Jimmy’s phone in the water, Rossum believes there are only two options: “We’re supposed to assume that Jimmy is either gone to work for the family down in Brazil, or he’s done in Chicago.” With her boyfriend MIA and not returning her calls, Fiona will be “very worried” and will blame herself for driving him away, especially after the way they left things during their epic coffeehouse clash. “...she will assume in Episode 12 that she caused this. She hasn’t heard from him. They had a big fight. She said, ‘Don’t come home,’ and now he’s not calling her back. So she will think that she basically told him to [leave]... not that he is involved with all these gangsters. She doesn’t know any of that.” Whatever happens to Jimmy – and it remains a mystery even to the actress, who says the series shot different takes for his storyline – “it’s a pretty big turning point” for the character.

Game Of Thrones, Dark Wings, Dark Words (Episode 3.02) Review

I liked this episode more than the GoT season 3 premiere. It had more fluidity, moved more quickly, and featured characters that were sorely missed in episode one: Jaime, Brienne, and Arya. Also, it caught us up Bran and Co. and introduced us to two new, very intriguing characters who join him on his long journey.

I felt like there was too much King's Landing last week and just enough this week with the much-lauded scene with Dame Diana Rigg's Matriarch, Olenna Tyrell and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) as well as queen-to-be Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) playing pitch perfectly to the way it as written in book #3. It will be fun to see the Tyrell's story un-spool.

I don't know why exactly because I used to enjoy her, but I'm really tiring of of Queen Regent Cersei's (Lena Headey) sneer. She really seems a one-note character in the television adaption and though snarky-witty (snitty?) at times, she comes across as her bratty-sadist son the King pointed out in this episode and her hated brother Tyrion pointed out in the last, rather lacking in any real abilities. Sort of predictable and ho-hum.

Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) were entertaining, though Brienne showed her naivete allowing Jaime to take her sword. Their extended sword fight in plain sight on a cross-bridge looks as if it will have disastrous consequences.

Very little happened in Jon Snow's (Kit Harington) segment. He met a warg--a human that can see through a non-human's eyes--for the first time--that was about it. Speaking of wargs, we found that Jon's half-brother Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright), who is trekking to the Wall in search of Jon, is himself a warg as is his new companion Jojen Reed (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) who is accompanied and protected by his older sister, Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick).

My eyes are glazing over too when the mother-son duo of Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) and Robb Stark (Richard Madden) are onscreen. They are as big of sourpusses as Charles Dance's Tywin Lannister but he is way more interesting. Robb pouts and stomps around and Cateyln frets and grieves--there is zero levity ever to their scenes and it is tiresome. Robb marrying Talisa (Oona Chaplin) in an uncharacteristic moment of thoughtless, spontaneous indulgence last season has given us a character that is just sort of hanging around as a plot device.

Finally, we found out what became of turn-cloak Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen)--he's in a very-very dark place.

This is a unique recap, not just of the happenings in Game Of Thrones episode 301 but additional scenes that tie Arya, Jaime and Brienne's season 2 story to the what I'm guessing will be in episode #2--and it's close-captioned!

I really missed having any scenes in the Game Of Thrones premiere episode featuring Arya especially, as she is the most compelling character in one of the most-heartbreaking situations. She quite literally has no one fending for her--she's the leader of her little pack of  'runaways' and will continue to be, through fierce circumstances that would be daunting even for an adult, never mind a girl of perhaps twelve or thirteen.

*Question: I was wondering if you had any scoops as we head into Sunday’s finale of the Showtime series, Shameless?

Ausiello: Although the penultimate episode strongly implied that Jimmy was about to sail away to his death, Emmy Rossum tells TVLine that his ultimate fate remains a mystery — even to her.

”They shot a bunch of different things [in the finale] in terms of Jimmy, and they’re not telling us what they’re airing,” she says. “So I’m not really sure how the season ends, to be honest.”

Meanwhile, Rossum says we should also be “worried about Frank, because we’re going to see him take the biggest toll in the finale.”

True Blood Season 6: Tease #1 (VIDEO)

It was announced previously that True Blood would be scaled back to 10 episodes in season 6 due to the show's stars, husband and wife Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin expanding their household when Paquin gave birth late last summer--and according to Alan Ball, 'economics'. Given that if renewed, True Blood will be going into it's 7th season in 2014, it may be more financially feasible for HBO to keep the show (like the mega-fantasy hit Game Of Thrones) to just ten episodes per season.

 

Giving us a broad hint that True Blood has not lost it's sense of humour, Alexander Skarsgård as Eric Northman appears to be in civilain clothes--a couple sizes too small for him. (Cr: HBO)

TRUE BLOOD Casting Update - Season 6 - Karolina Wydra to Recur

Spending a year married to Gregory House can turn a woman into a real bloodsucker.
Case in point: Karolina Wydra — who played Dominika, the convenient bride of Hugh Laurie’s titular doc on Fox’s House — is joining True Blood‘s sixth season as a badass vampire, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Wydra’s recurring character, Violet, is described as a strong, sexy, possibly dangerous vamp on par with the Eric Northmans and Bill Comptons of the world.

Shameless - Episode 3.11 - 'Order Room Service' - Sneak Peek VIDEO 3

Hard to be optimistic about Fiona (Emmy Rossum) and Jimmy's (Justin Chatwin) chances for reconciliation any time before season 4 as this penultimate Sneak Peek VIDEO 3 illustrates pretty profoundly. I used to wish for them to have a happily ever-after, but truly, Jimmy/Steve is not a good guy.

Throughout season 3 he played the role of devoted partner to Fiona (at least when he wasn't boning his wife, Estefania) and stand-in dad to the Gallagher brood but ultimately, he is a thief, a liar and a cheat. Fiona, despite her horrible upbringing and grim life is a better person than he is. She deserves better so I'm rooting for this relationship to go down in flames.

Game of Thrones - Episode 3.01 - Valar Dohaeris - Review 

This is an initial impression of the premiere episode Game of Thrones - Episode 3.01 - 'Valar Dohaeris'. It contains only the mildest of spoilers.

Unsurprisingly and very satisfyingly, the series has raised the bar yet again visually. The locations, the sets, the costumes, the effects… everything just looks sumptuous. 

In the premiere episode, we pick up where we left off last season, with Sam Tarley running from the White Walkers and their army of undead. The scene is intense and atmospheric...with a surprise ending. Cut to the opening credits, which feature King’s Landing, Winterfell, Harrenhal, Dragonstone, the Wall and Astapor.

The rest of the episode is dedicated to catching us up with the various players in the story, including those in King’s Landing, on Dragonstone, beyond the Wall and across the Narrow Sea.

Many of these scenes do double-duty, not only catching us up on past events but also setting things up for later in the season like... watching the chess pieces being moved into position yet again... and their potential meaning... for the storylines this season.

And what of those storylines? Every one wants to know how closely this season will hew to A Storm of Swords.

Having only watched a fraction of season 3... it seems that they are still following the main storyline but at times...taking a different path getting to their destination.

There are a number of new scenes in episode one that are not in the book but which blend in in such a way that they could have been.

Others scenes, like in past seasons are wholly different from the writings of George R.R. Martin, but they serve to streamline events and characters.

 Mini Recap - Game Of Thrones Season 2

Season 2 of Game Of  Thrones kept most of our characters very busy.

Robb Stark is fight­ing for an in­de­pen­dent North.

Theon Greyjoy turned on the Starks but was even­tu­ally stabbed in the back by his own fam­ily.

Jof­frey Lan­nis­ter is still on the Iron Throne, but his uncle, Renly Baratheon, also felt he had the right to claim the throne and he re­ceived help from House Tyrell.

Tyrion Lan­nis­ter ar­rived in King’s Land­ing to be­come the hand of the king, only to al­most succcumb dur­ing the Bat­tle of the Black­wa­ter and then to be cast aside by his own fa­ther, Tywin.

Then there is Stan­nis Baratheon, also still in it to win it, and he is being helped by Melisan­dre (Carice van Houten).

Mean­while, Daen­erys Tar­garyen is still on Essos with her three drag­ons, Jon Snow is still a cap­tive of the Wildlings, and the last episode ended with Sam Tarly try­ing to hide from an army of White Walk­ers.

You may think you know how brutal HBO’s beautiful, dark, twisted fantasy Game of Thrones can get, but to paraphrase Wildling temptress Ygritte: “You know nothing about season 3.” Based on roughly the first half of the third novel in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series,  A Storm of Swords, this season continues the epic story of rival families vying for power in a fantasy kingdom where winter and summer last for years. It includes some of the most rousing  moments of triumph in the saga’s five-book (so far) histroy — as well as its most bloody casualties. ...“Emotionally, this season really goes for the jugular,” Thrones executive story editor Bryan Cogman tells Entertainment Weekly in this week’s issue. “In some cases, quite literally.”...

Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are reluctant to raise expectations any higher, but are optimistic...One particular “Scene Which Shall Not Be Named,” as Benioff called it, left the Thrones team devastated. “I’ve never seen the crew so emotional,” Benioff says. “If the scene has that effect on the people making it who know what’s coming, if they’re that overpowered, I think it’s going to have an overwhelming effect on people watching it.” (cont.)

This season, the Lannister family backstabbing is ratcheted to a new level now that Lord Tywin (Charles Dance) has returned to King’s Landing. Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) struggles to purchase a merciless eunuch army. Kingslayer Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) attempts to escape the confinement of his noble escort Brienne (Gwendoline Christie). Jon Snow (Kit Harington) infiltrates the rival Wildling camp led by Mance Rayder (Ciarán Hinds), while the mesmerizing Ygritte (Rose Leslie) tries to melt Jon Snow’s heart.

HBO's Season 3 adaption of Game of Thrones is one that has long been anticipated by fans of the George R.R. Martin epic fantasy series "A Song Of Ice & Fire."

Based on parts of book 3, this season some of the most compelling characters get into some of the most memorable situations of the entire series thus far.

Diana Rigg will play a character that stood out for her extreme directness, her lack of desire to suffer fools and her ability to scheme. It should be an absolute joy to see Rigg take on the pivotal role of Lady Oleanna Tyrell.

Of the 15 promo photos, the one of Ian (Cameron Monaghan) sitting on his porch steps with a really messed up eye is the one that most interests me. I have no spoilers for this episode but I get the feeling that Mickey (Noel Fisher) did this to him. That Mickey is a real rotter. I can see being attracted to dangerous boys but he's a nasty, dangerous boy and Ian could do way better. Maybe he will.

I was noticing last week how nicely Emma Greenwell as Mandy is meshing with the cast. She's not the season 1 actress that played Mandy but I really like her and the nuances to her character that we are seeing through her involvement with Lip. Like her aunt said, she's the most decent of all the Milkoviches.

Finally, the promo photos strongly indicate that Lip's (Jeremy White) ex, Karen has made another drastic choice. The three shots of her mother, Sheila (Joan Cusak), with Shelia being pampered by Debs (Emma Kenney) and a shot of the two of them indulging in a big hug, tells me that both of them have had some really emotionally wrenching times of late and that you can find comfort in the least-expected places.

It's pretty clear that a sober life vs. a non-sober life for Nurse Jackie means pretty much having all of the same responsibilities with none of the numbing.

Without the crutch of getting high, Jackie has to face it all stone cold sober and though she seems to have a really good resolve, there are moments when you can see just how stretched thin Jackie (Edie Falco) still is. She's holding it together but with the custody fight with Kevin looming, (speaking of Kevin (Dominic Fumusa) he is being a real dick--still). Jackie's ex is carrying his anger and resentment towards her proudly like a badge, using every excuse available to tell her ('nicely') that she ruined everyone's life and that she's scum.

He's really not forgiving her any time soon no matter how anyone--including his daughters with Jackie, feels about it.

NURSE JACKIE 501 – “Happy Fucking Birthday” Episode Description

An overturned bus makes for a crazy day at All Saints. Two new doctors join the staff: Dr. Carrie Roman, a resident who fucked her way to the middle, and Dr. Ike Prentiss, a badass Army doc. Dr. Eleanor O’Hara just wants to spend every minute with her new son. Coop is wary of Prentiss but starts crushing on Carrie. And in the middle of the chaos, Akalitus gives Eddie back his old job. After witnessing yet another tense morning between the Peytons, Zoey announces that it’s time for her to move out of Jackie’s house and O’Hara tells Jackie it’s her last day at All Saints and she’s moving to London to be with her baby and her family. And all this, the day before Jackie’s birthday. And the end of a long day, Jackie puts one pill into a small jewelry box next to her wedding ring in her night stand. It’s a new year.

This is not an easy time for Jackie--but other people are struggling, too. O'Hara + mummyhood + work  vs. wealthy, stayed-at-home mom--why work? SPOILER! So far in the first three epiosdes, Eve Best in the character of Dr. O'Hara, (soon to be residing in London) has had a grainy Skype birthday celebration with SPOILER help from Jackie's soon-to-be-former roommate. I'm entirely unsure what her role will be througout season 5. Sure will miss her if it is reduced by much.

I'm guessing  that if Eve Best as Dr. O'Hara does not come back in a full capacity she'll be doing periodic Skyping. I'd rather have her in the same room with the people she's conversing with, having a party for, and so forth but if she's to be limited this season then back for more later, I wouldn't have to have a problem with that.

 

Gloria Akalitus (Anna Deavere Smith) is having memory issues but no has yet really confronted her on it.

 

Hope she doesn't have a brain tumor(!)

Based on the Argentine series Mujeres Asesinas, the project follows Molly Parker, the only woman among the notoriously male Texas Rangers. Described as a ballsy, beautiful badass, Molly knows how to get to the truth and isn’t afraid to ruffle a few feathers to do so.

Trucco will play Molly’s older brother, Billy, who is married to her BFF Nessa (played by Marta Milans). The actor’s recent TV credits include arcs on Revenge, How I Met Your Mother and Castle, and a co-starring role on USA Network’s Fairly Legal. Also new to the Killer Women ensemble, which also previously cast Mark Blucas (Necessary Roughness), is Alex Fernandez (Commander in Chief), playing Molly’s coworker Luis.

After looking forward to 'meeting' Brienne of Tarth onscreen in season 2 of HBO's Game Of Thrones, I was not the least disappointed in Gwendoline Christie's portrayal of the character, nor in her appearance. Unfortunately, we didn't get a lot of time to appreciate Christie's abilities--her acting or her physicality--as her chacacter's arc hadn't picked up yet. SPOILER. It does this season. And better yet, her arc is hugely intertwined with another character that though a fan fave, was barely glimpsed last season (same reason as for 'Brienne'). Both will (hopefully) get a nice piece of screen time in Game of Thrones season 3 as they struggle through an incredibly perilous adventure 'together' (reluctantly).

In a gorgeous forest glade in Northern Ireland last September, Gwendoline Christie is dressed in armor and sitting atop a horse. Her arms and hands are bound with sturdy rope. “I can only shake hands with my eyes,” she says with a grin. When the director orders “action,” Christie, as Game of Thrones fan-favorite knight Brienne of Tarth, jumps off the horse and muscles through some henchmen. On the show it all looks quick and simple. In person, the action is more impressive because of Christie’s bulky costume and bindings — just try jumping down onto uneven ground without the use of your arms. Luckily, ever since landing the role of Brienne two years ago, Christie has engaged in heavy physical training for the part. The rigorous dedication will pay off more than ever in season three as her character undertakes a very challenging journey while trying to return the captive kingslayer Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) to King’s Landing. “We last saw her as a female knight who was very much having to prove herself and find her place and find her place in society because she doesn’t have a natural place where she fits in,” Christie says after the crew releases her from her bindings. “By the end of [the season] she has a mission, which she believes is for the greater good. [Season 3] focuses on [Brienne and Jaime's] relationship and the journey those two human beings go on is extraordinary. We see her in situations trying to survive in ways that extend beyond her physical strength. And we start to see her explore her womanhood, what it is, for her, to be a woman. She’s starts to find out more about herself and about very basic human emotions — attachment to someone else and what honor really means to her. In this ridiculous and extreme situation of high drama, she starts to really find out who she is and what she believes in.” Brienne is described in George R.R Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire novels as large, tough and physically unattractive. When EW first reported the relative newcomer had landed the role, the very first reader comment on the post, which included a red-carpet out-of-character photo of the actress, was, “She looks too pretty and thin to play Brienne.” That oddly flattering knock was a somewhat common reaction to her casting (at least, until fans saw her impressively muscular interpretation of the role). Christie says she was rather startled — and pleased — by the response. “All my life, all I’ve ever wanted is for people to say — first of all — I’m pretty. But ‘too pretty’? Is amazing,” she says. “I also loved that they said, ‘Who’s this model?’ I only ever wanted to be a model. This acting thing — three years of drama school — is an accident! I was like, ‘Wow, they think I’m a model?’ I didn’t mind it at all. I knew all the things I wanted to do to become the part. I’ve always been able to look very different very easily.” As you listen to Christie, it’s striking how, on the surface, she is nothing like Brienne — in a good way. Brienne’s personality is rather cold and humorless whereas Christie is witty and passionate. Nonetheless, the actress says she’s been able to identify with Brienne’s search to find her place in the world. “There’s so many parts of my life that I’ve struggled with — that so many millions of others struggled with — about being an outsider, about feeling ugly, about having to overcome looking different to other people,” she says. “The great thing about this character is she’s found her strength.
