A cop has been shot and Nurse Jackie fears it is Frank:
Adam Ferrara as Frank, Edie Falco as Nurse Jackie and Anna Deavere Smith as Gloria Akalitus in 'Nurse Jackie' Episode 507 - 'Teachable Moments' (Cr: Showtime)
I've remarked upon it earlier in this stellar season 5 of Nurse Jackie but it bears repeating: Edie Falco as Jackie has smiled more, halfway through season 5 than she did during the entirety of seasons 1-4. I don't care if this sounds like fangirl gushing--she is so pretty when her face lights up. Beyond the surface happiness, there is plenty going on in Jackie's life--being in recovery is a key part of her life but so (still) are her kids, her job and the small circle of friends she has (all at work). She's divorced Kevin and she's dating a cop who genuinely likes her--a lot--and who is the reason for all the smiling. Will this match stick? Tune in to find out, Nurse Jackie fans!

NURSE JACKIE 507 Episode Description – “Teachable Moments” Akalitus forgets to hire an escort for a psych patient who ends up laying waste to the pharmacy. While transcribing dictation, Zoey hears Coop and Carrie having sex, unaware the machine was recording.

I think you are going to have a reaction anywhere from pleasantly surprised to shocked out of the comfort of your chair, at how incredible actors Merrit Wever and Morris Chestnut are in this scene (be sure to tune in Sunday night and watch it in its entirety).
SPOILER I would not have envisioned putting these two together as a couple, would you? But the chemistry between them is palpable. Kudos to the casting people and writers. Morris Chesnut as Dr. Prentiss is filling in a gap I hadn't even realized was there. He brings not only hunky good looks but loads of charisma buried beneath a tough-as-nail-exterior. He and Zoe do in fact 'do it'--with Zoe calling the shots!
Jennifer Carpenter's Twitter is an excellent Dexter News Source!
Deb's (Jennifer Carpenter) new ride on Dexter season 8 (June 2013)
I realized just prior to the beginning of Dexter season 7 that the actor that plays Dexter's sister Deb, Jennifer Carpenter (Twitter name: @J2thecarpenter), is an excellent source of behind-the-scenes information about Showtime's Dexter, which as you probably know is returning this JUNE(!)
Dexter season 8 first read through Tweet
Unlike some celebrities that Tweet photos of their latest meal (or bowel movement), Carpenter Tweets really interesting stuff without giving away anything that would imperil her job. When she's not filming Dexter, she sends out some very funny stuff as well, often with attached photos. So let's look at some of the latest Tweets from 'Deb' to learn what's up with "Dexter" which returned to filming what is probably it's final season on February 11, 2013.
'Are you shitfuckingkidding me?' - JC
Yes, offscreen Carpenter talks much like her onscreen character (in her Tweets, at least).
Nick Gomez signs on for Dexter season 8 in a recurrring role
Finally, as SpoilerTV reported, Nick Gomez (@Nicksgomez) has signed on as a recurring player in Dexter season 8.
Shameless - episode 3.04 - Harry Hamlin as 'Jimmy's' (Justin Chatwin) dad (Cr: Showtime)
The scene that follows this one is hilarious if not a bit shocking.
Quite a kerfuffle occurs after Jimmy's dad (Harry Hamlin) mistakes one Gallagher sib for another and someone is really displeased. Just a typical night at the Gallagher's, right?

Jessica's commenters advise her to 'think before you drink'. A tad late--the video only went up July 30 2012, but Jessica survived both Jason and Hoyt. I wonder how far Bill will lead her? She is not going to recognize him next time she sees him and it's not like she loves synthetic blood. If anything, Jessica could've been a perfect candidate for the Sanguinistas but ironically, Bill set her on a 'moralistic' path mainstreaming and my bet is that Jessica couldn't for example, eat Jason any more than Hoyt could kill Jessica. There are some really nice screencaps of both Eric and Bill and as not-Bill, Director Stephen Moyer (above) this week so enjoy--I know I did!

JOHNNY DEPP as vampire Barnabas Collins in a scene from TIM BURTON'S film DARK SHADOWS in theatres on May 11 2012:
DARK SHADOWS Official UK Trailer (2012) Johnny Depp, Tim Burton Movie HD:
SYNOPSIS: In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet--or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy...until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.
Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles. Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth's ne'er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Roger's precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath).
The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis, played by Jackie Earle Haley, and David's new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.

Louise Fletcher as 'Granny Gallagher' in SHAMELESS Episode 2.08 'Parenthood' (3/04):
It looks as if 'Granny Gallagher' is choosing the when and how of her exit in SHAMELESS episode 2.08. Louise Fletcher has done such an excellent job of portraying Frank's mother (of all mothers). I'm going to miss her, though I doubt Frank will. In other news, Lip (Jeremy Allen White), as mature as he can be at times, does not seem to be reasoning out the knocked-up Karen (Laura Slade Wiggins) situaton, rather he's reacting strictly viscerally whilst she acts all unconcerned (with emphasis on the word 'acts'). She's just as mind-blown by the most recent turn of events as he is, she's just too emotionally closed off to show it. Or, maybe she is a sociopath like Grandma Gallagher, too!

The walkers were never and won't ever be the biggest threat. That comes from within--whether you are talking of within the group or within the individual.
800-pound motorcycle.
The Rick - Shane, Walking Dead (AMC Sundays) episode 2.10 FIGHT [PHOTOS] VIDEO:
Shoved on Rick by Shane. This happens next.
Rick is literally part of a walker pile-up. The really fun part was when the guy on top, very much not-yet-headshot, was working furiously to get to Rick, who was just a s furiously shooting the next closest-atop-him walker. Pinned under a pileup of walkers--so what to do about the topmost hungry guy? Blow through the guy just below him's head until a bullet goes into the head of the troublesome top-of-pile walker. Biting problem solved. Not unpinned yet, tho'.
The Walking Dead's 'Rick Grimes' (Andrew Lincoln) watches intently as his and 'Shane's' stunt-man doubles go through part of the now-pivotal fight scene.
This marks the first time Shane has tried to kill Rick. The first time, nosy old 'Dale' caught him in the almost-act--which deterred him and deferred this--which has been on the horizon for a while. It'll be awesome to watch it play out.
Inside Episode 210 The Walking Dead: 18 Miles Out VIDEO:
Shane has just unleashed the walkers in his murder attempton Rick. Be sure to listen to Andrew Lincoln's explanation (see VIDEO) of his character 'Rick Grime's, belief in 'humanity and Shane specifically, that motivate him to continue trying keep Shane close (above).
At this point, Rick and the captive Randall have taken off for the car--Shane's car--and hope is just about lost as Shane tires from the horde that is now about to burst in the school bus door and devour him.... Oh yes, that is Rick Grimes literally riding shotgun (!), saving Shane's hide. Can Shane be redeemed? I think we may find out soon.
Jeremy Allen White as 'Lip Gallagher' and Laura Slade Wiggins as on/off pregnant girlfriend, 'Karen'. They or more precisely he, looks happy for a change--which is nice. She's been looking way-too-happy of late. However happy times may prove short-lived due to **Episode 2.08 Synopsis SPOILER**
Next week part of the TVGuide extended synopsis reads:
'Lip takes Karen to a number of adoption agencies and doesn't like what she has planned,' and even more ominously, 'Lip wants to quit school...'
...which to me says that he's going to ask Karen to allow him to support her and the baby. He may even use the "L" word since he admitted so in Shameless season 1 to his now-estranged brother Ian that he 'thought' he loved her. His behaviour since them only illustrates that he's hopelessly in love with her.
Anyway, back on track to this week's SHAMELESS - Episode 2.07, 'A Bottle of Jean Nate'. I'm so glad that Louise Fletcher made an extended appearance this season! She's aces at playing a geriatric sociopath.
**SPOILER Sadly, according to next week's TVGuide, 'Grammy' will be dying (with Sheila and Jody taking care of her(!) Major bizarreness is gonna have to go down for that situation to come about --but that's nothing unusual on Shameless. Very fun times, indeed.

Emmy Rossum as Fiona Gallagher is chased by spurned wife, Lucy Jo Heisner (Brit Morgan)
Seems a very handy thing indeed that 'Fiona' (Emmy Rossum) was 'almost' a track star in high school (she had to drop out to care for her siblings, natch) because she will put those running skills to the test when ambushed--in her own home!--by an intent-on-blood, Lucy Jo Heisner (Brit Morgan). Fiona, you'll recall, had an unrequited high school crush on 'Craig Heiser' which was just requited in the back seat of Craig's car, a virtual low-rent kiddyland of toys, baby seat and (ew!) old juice boxes and uneaten food. To make it worse, Craig makes odd noises when having sex so the whole experince grossed Fiona out. Very doubtful that she'd planned on going back to that well again. Try telling that to the bat-wielding 'Lucy Jo', though.

Happy Holidays from the Gallagher family. Mark your callendars! The new season of SHAMELESS begins January 8th at 9PM ET/PT!
Despite the new season of SHAMELESS taking place during one of our lovely Chicago summers, the Gallaghers have put on their best monogrammed Santa hats and enlisted everyone's help in wishing us a Merry Christmas!
My favourite line?: "Des-ig-nate! Give your keys to someone boring!"
Q: What's in store for the Shameless Showtime premiere?
A: This scoop will be as shameless as the series itself. James Wolk and Emmy Rossum. Naked. In public. Not enough? OK, how about this? William H.Macy. Half-naked. In the restroom of a gay bar.
Q: Do you have any spoilers about Shameless — particularly about Steve/Fiona?
Ausiello: Sorry, Fiona/Steve lovers, but Justin Chatwin is mostly M.I.A. when Season 2 resumes on Jan. 8. Fiona’s rebound dance card, meanwhile, remains full, first with Lone Star‘s James Wolk, and next with Vampire Diaries‘ Taylor Kinney. The latter plays an old and now-married crush of Fiona’s from high school with whom she reconnects with. Look out for a ROTFLOL-worthy scene set inside a car that will have you looking at Kinney in a whole new light.
Season 2 of SHAMELESS finds our favorite dysfunctional family braving the summertime Chicago heat trying to keep cool…and Frank (William H. Macy) out of trouble. Bearing the de facto parent badge, Fiona (Emmy Rossum) spends her nights working at a happening nightclub and her days keeping an eye on Debbie (Emma Kenny) and Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) as they run a makeshift daycare center at the house. Meanwhile, brothers Lip (Jeremy Allen White) and Ian (Cameron Monaghan) are toying with the idea of college, while Sheila (Joan Cusack, in her Emmy® Award-nominated role) is still housing Frank and making progress with her agoraphobia. As usual, the motley brood somehow manages to hold down the fort and make sure the bills are paid, the lights are on and there is food on the table. Developed for American Television by John Wells and Created by Paul Abbott, SHAMELESS is based on the long-running hit UK series. SHAMELESS is executive produced by acclaimed Emmy® Award-winning television and film producer John Wells, Paul Abbott and Andrew Stearn.
The original Dark Shadows was 'a memorably offbeat ABC daytime drama about a vampire whose extended family are bedeviled by ghosts, witches, and other Gothic woes.'
Johnny Depp has recounted how as a boy he practically raced home to watch Dark Shadows after school each day. I did the same but living in the Northeast (versus Depp's Kentucky) we got released from school too late in the afternoon to watch the entire episode. I still turned it on and caught the second act of each one-hour installment. As Depp says, Dark Shadows was 'very weird' so it didn't really seem to matter that I was only getting about half the narrative. The parts I saw were terrifically fun and seemed quite subversive being unreeled during weekday afternoons.
“I remember seeing a group photograph of the cast of the original series,” he told EW. “For me it captured the weird Dark Shadows vibe in a single image." - Dark Shadows director Tim Burton
'Weird certainly sums up this particular family portrait — a shot director Tim Burton, who also obsessed over Dark Shadows as a boy, staged in the early days of production.
Here’s the Collins family, from left to right with a brief description of each character following:
Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter) – From Alice in Wonderland’s Red Queen, to the cannibalistic cook Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd, Burton can’t help but cast the mother of his children as a deranged person. This prim and proper psychiatrist, who has taken up residence with the Collins family to care for their troubled youngest boy, might seem to break that trend — but don’t bet on it....
Carolyn Stoddard (Chloë Moretz) — Though she played a voracious child vampire in the critically acclaimed Let Me In, Moretz is on the human side of the spectrum in Dark Shadows — though that doesn’t mean this cousin of young David Collins (and daughter of Michelle Pfeiffer’s character, seen on the far right) isn’t without her own peculiarities...
Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green) — The Bond girl from Casino Royale turns up here as the villain of the story. “Angelique is a witch who has known Barnabas since the 1700s, when they had an affair that went sour. She is the one who cursed him to be a vampire and locked him in that box...”
David Collins (Gulliver McGrath) — Lonely, confused, and neglected by his pompous father (Jonny Lee Miller, over on the right next to Pfeiffer), David has no one to confide in except his bizarre psychiatrist — and the dead people he claims to see...
Victoria Winters (Bella Heathcote) — This young woman arrives to become David’s new governess, only to find herself swept up in the vampire-witch melodrama. “When Barnabas meets Victoria, he’s instantly reminded of the woman he lost in the 1700s, before he was cursed to be a vampire...”
Mrs. Johnson (Ray Shirley) — “Poor old Mrs. Johnson …” Grahame-Smith sighs when talk turns to the old woman seated in the back behind Depp. “She is the mostly blind, mostly deaf maid, who has been with them for decades and decades... I don’t think she actually says anything in the entire film....
Willie Loomis (Jackie Earle Haley) — How awesome is it to play an actual Groundskeeper Willie? The Oscar-nominee for Little Children is... the guy who takes out the trash, mows the lawns, and fixes the cars, except he’s usually so drunk and so disinterested that he doesn’t take his job seriously anymor..."
Roger Collins (Jonny Lee Miller) — This scion of the once-great Collins family is one of the main reasons the aristocratic clan has fallen into such disgrace. “He’s a creepy, self-centered guy who likes to order Willie around, likes to pretend the family is still on top of his game...”
Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) — The mother of Carolyn Stoddard, and mother-figure to David, she’s the one adult member of the Collins clan who is at least slightly competent. “Elizabeth is the rock of the family. She’s the matriarch,”...with a witch perpetually trying to destroy her, and a long lost vampire relative turning up to reclaim control...'

Before shooting, Depp said: “What Jonathan Frid did with that character and that classic look he created… I find it very difficult to stray very far from that. I think it’s going to be somewhere in that arena, with maybe just a couple of different touches here and there.
“I do remember, very vividly, practically sprinting home from school in the afternoon to see Jonathan Frid play Barnabas Collins,” the actor says. “Even then, at that age, I knew — this has got to be weird.” -- Johnny Depp

Nude Amnesia!Eric To Sookie Come. Come Play With Me!:
OOOh, cannot wait to see what the pic-spam people come up with from this scene...and those that follow!
That man is such ...how many times does one need to repeat this? Ad infintium? He is just so super-appealing on a way more than just the physical level. Remember Eric Northman, season 1? Compare. Alexander Skarsgård is really doing GREAT things on True Blood this season! I'm having so. much. fun. watching the series this year with his and Sookie's storyline NOT disappointing! Cannot wait to see MOAR.
"In the episode "I'm Alive and On Fire," Sookie can't control Eric, who is drunk on SPOILER (Claudine's) fairy blood. She can't even stop the playful vamp from pinching her butt. She soon loses him in the woods. With Alcide (Joe Manganiello) in wolf form, she finds him, hours later, in the sunlight, enjoying a naked dip in gator-filled waters."
This 3-second True Blood Episode 4.04 clip is a tease in every sense of the word!
A Series of 'Cute' Amnesia!Eric Clips' & Screencaps:
True Blood Season 4: Sookie, Claudine, and Eric Clip:
On True Blood it is 'cute' when someone kills your SPOILER! faery godmother --according to some of the YouTube comments/'Eric Northman' fans. (In fairness, this clip from the scene is played pretty comically). It appears that Sookie's Fairy Godmother, Claudine, returned to 'our side', obviously deliberately, but didn't anticipate (quickly enough, anyway) 'Amnesia!Eric' and his faery bloodlust. From what we know thus far, Claudine was ordered by Queen Mab of the Fae to kidnap Sookie to bring her to the land of the Fae permanently to 'breed' as the vampires had almost wiped them out (see Eric and what is left of Claudine in the video above). Sookie escaped with the help of Claudine's brother , a rebel Fae named Claude. In the books they are the surviving 2 triplets, with a another female having previously been killed. The Fae it turns out, are not what they seemed. Here's Claudine in her 'Earthly' form:
Pam (distraught): I believe Bill set Eric up and sent him into that coven... knowning it was a trap...wouldn't be the first time he tried to get rid of Eric...
*Based so far, on The Big C, Episode 1, 'Losing Patients':
1. It's LOL funny in part due to the appearance of someone entirely unexpected...
2. It's REAL. If you've lived any life at all you know how valuable it is and how scary it is to contemplate losing it. The BIG C conveys this quite clearly with an awareness of the adage that the best medicine is laughter...supplemented by medical marijuana, if needed.
3. In 30-minute increments I'm quite convinced that this little show is going to continue to encourage me to think about my life and what I do with it because comedy or not--truth is, we are all on the clock. It's what we do with the time we have. Cliche? Maybe, but there's nothing cliche about how The Big C reminds me of important stuff we tend to shove aside in favour of 'stuff' we have to deal with RIGHT NOW. In truth, all we know for certain is there is nothing else but right now.
Happy viewing!

Is anyone wondering, like me if Sookie's faery godmother, Claudine changes too? I didn't see _any_ faeries that remained unchanged after Sookie zapped Queen Mab.
It's cool that Barry-the-bellboy popped up--but he had more face time in the books than he's yet had so I think they could give him something to do with the Fae storyline. He's a telepath which means he is valuable to just about everyone, it seems. And in the same amount of danger as Sookie. It would suck if they killed him off quickly.

There's not much time at all to savour the deliciousness that is the land of the Fae a/k/a 'Fairyland' before everything turns all maggoty in the first 6 minutes of True Blood Season 4.
The TB Season 4 premiere does not give our heroine, Sookie Stackhouse (the very awesome Anna Paquin), who has recently discovered that in addition to having a life-long, inherited, telepathic 'gift' she is also a small part 'faery' or one of the Fae, [Book SPOILER] due to a daliance Earl Stackhouse's (Gary Cole) wife (the lady that we knew for far too short a time as Sookie's 'Gran') had with Fintan, a human-Fae hybrid.
Neither Sookie nor the audience gets a heavy dose of the sugar-sweet, just-too 'happy' to-be-authentic,'Land of the Fae' before a very-weary-of-the-bullshite Sookie smells something bad. Indeed. The 'light fruit' is literally crawling with maggots. Ew.
Queen Mab has made her presence known and that she will have her WILL be done!
Alan Ball and Co. like to lead viewers down the rose petal-strewn garden path then take a sharp detour into some very dark, thorn-covered places. That's because at it's core, True Blood is savoury good fun but of the distinctly dark-humoured, horror-tinged kind:
So much for the snarky comments that Faeryland was going to stay laughably cheesy.
Season 4 looks like it gets off to a rollicking start.
Wait. What was that?
Oh, just 'Queen Mab' being sent sailing by Sookie's 'microwave fingers' across the courtyard into that knarled-up old tree. No biggie. She'd tried to have her minions (see above) force-feed sookie a light-fruit. Sookie reacted.
After trying to force-feed Sookie a light fruit Queen Mab is sent hurling into a huge old tree--which dies instantly-- seemingly along with the rest of 'faeryland'--which turns from warm & lively oranges and pink hues with pretty faeries everywhere to dead-looking shades of gray populated with distraught, dirty, troll-looking creatures.
Oh shite!
'Grandaddy, run!'
True Blood VIDEO First 6 minutes Episode 1 Season 4:
WEEDS - Showtime Season 7 Synopsis SPOILERS (after the jump):
As if Nancy's life wasn't filled with enough odd characters, the producers are looking for a slightly odd, well-off New York City attorney (they're thinking of a John Waters type) who takes on pro-bono cases in exchange for juicy prison gossip. Does he sell the gossip to the tabloids? Nope, he writes the stories down in a book — which he reads when he's sad, horny, or both...
EDIT 5.27.11/ In re: the casting description above and the Showtime Press Release from 5.26 (below): they both describe the role that of the 'eccentric attorney' that went to Martin Short (Damages).
Fortunately, on Weeds 'icky' can be turned into something quite funny. If they can make 'Uncle Andy' having his toe bitten off by a dog, funny which they did, then...
It seems in the last month or so the Disney-Pixar folks have left me eating their dust when it comes to getting out the word on Cars 2! I need to burn rubber and try to play catch-up right now! :)

Jackie panics when her stash of pills from Bill the epileptic drug dealer runs low; Coop decides to fight O'Hara for the ER chief position but learns his mothers are divorcing; Jackie confronts Eddie about his "texting" relationship with Kevin's sister.
I have not had a chance yet to talk about why, but I found my screener episode of the 'Nurse Jackie' 'Rat Falls' to be the most powerful episode of Nurse Jackie, yet this season. Don't miss it! I'm watching it again on Monday! (Somehow--I'll be in Maryland w/out cable TV but w/internet. Ooh, I know! on DVD!).
I will share more about what I loved about episode 5 after it airs, including and maybe especially it's title! and I hope you will, too.

Shameless EPISODE 10: 'Nana Gallagher Had An Affair' Promo:
Monica's return wreaks havoc on the Gallaghers; Fiona moves out.
From Shameless EPISODE 10: 'Nana Gallagher Had An Affair' - Parental Rights'
Previously on Shameless: 'EPISODE 9: But At Last Came A Knock':
Frank has some settlement money coming his way. The only catch — he needs his ex-wife's signature on the documents. Debbie goes on a mission to find out if Steve is cheating on Fiona, only to discover Steve may not be who he says he is at all. Kev and Veronica receive a visit from Ethel's baby son Jonah... and the DCFS. Lip needs money to take Karen on a date so he turns to Steve for help. Meanwhile, Eddie reaches out to Karen and invites her to a Purity Ball.
Things don't end well when Frank's ex-wife Monica shows up, announcing her plan to take Liam. Kash catches Ian and Mickey going at it. An enraged Fiona moves out of the house and in with Steve.
Best line from Shameless - EPISODE 9: 'But At Last Came A Knock':
Lip to Ian: “You know how Dad’s a total fucking asshole? Turns out he’s the good one.”
Wow. Shameless - Episode 9 was one head-spinning moment after another.
Firstly, I never thought we'd see mother Gallagher 'Monica', so quickly. I figured they'd stretch that part of the plot out maybe even until season 2 because 'missing mom' has been such a large, looming spectral presence in the Gallagher home. But no, Mrs. Frank Gallagher did show up in full force with a Peterbilt-driving gf and she was ready not only to reunite with the family but to take home a souvenir afterward. That would be baby Liam, a mixed-race baby, obviously not Frank's biologically (though I realize that legally it could get very complicated as Monica and Frank were living as husband and wife, Frank's name is probably on the birth certificate, etc.).
As mind-blowing as it was for Frank (William H. Macy) to come face-to face with his ex, it was about 6 times as awful for the Gallagher children.
Though they were all shocked (with the exception of the previously-mentioned 2 y.o. Liam) their reactions immediately following Monica's proclamation that she wished to be a 'mother again' to the young ones and to actually take custody of Liam varied widely, with Fiona-- not unexpectedly-- reacting with outrage.
Realizing that there was nothing she could do to fight back at that moment and overcome with a flood of emotions that she probably kept dammed up for the previous 2 years, Fiona announced to Monica that the kids were Monica's now--then out into the Chicago winter she walked. Emmy Rossum's pronouncement to her onscreen mother (Chloe Webb China Beach, Sid & Nancy, performance art), was just devastating. Less a tirade than it was a howl of psychic pain. Emmy Rossum played it very, very real. It's my opinion that Rossum's 'Fiona' is the heart of this fine new series, though she is surrounded by stellar talents all 'round.
When Fiona's heart broke into a million pieces right before our eyes and the eyes of her sibs, bf, & parents, it was like watching her crumble emotionally. It was hugely touching.

Actress Emmy Rossum dishes on her "Shameless" sexcapades including last week's 'Steve & Fiona' pool sex. Plus hear about her plan to potty train her kitty on the toilet!
Aww. This is great! Emmy is cute on Shameless (Showtime, Sunday nights @ 10p.m. E) but here with hair done and lipstick, simply beautiful. She holds her own with Chelsea with a engaging sense of humour and one-of-a-kind laugh that you'd never expect from 'a lady.' Nothing stereotypical about this girl. Love her!
(Note: Ya'll who 'hate' Emmy's shoes: 1.They are a bright spring-like style which is sooo welcome as we are dying for winter to be over, and 2. Chelsea Handler's camera people shoot from an odd "under" angle--perhaps they are hoping for an upskirt shot? Regardless, I've often thought what huge feet/hideous shoes Chelsea was wearing until it clicked that it is the cameraman's doing--not Chelsea or the talent's.)

Sneak Peeks, Song List (Music), & Promo Photos for Next week on Californication after the jump!
Watch Emmy Rossum, whose hit Showtime show 'Shameless' was just renewed for a second season, earnestly explain to Conan O'Brien what a 'vag patch' is as well as the intricacies of a 'cock sock' (it has a bow on top). Emmy goes on to recount her 'first time' using both devices with Shameless co-star Justin Chatwin including how, in order to prevent any :ahem: unintended consequences, sand was used to weigh the sock down! (And they say Hollywood is all about glitz and glamour!)
As hoped for, the good news arrived today: 'Shameless' has been confirmed as renewed for a second season!
This fantastic news comes on the heels of the previously-released BBC-report that Matt LeBlanc's half-hour Showtime comedy lead-in 'Episodes', was picked up for a second season as well.
Here are the details and the official Showtime announcement on the second season pick-up for Shameless and Episodes:

You can count on spending more time with the Gallagher family and “Matt LeBlanc,” now that Showtime has renewed both Shameless and Episodes for second seasons.
“The viewer loyalty and critical acclaim that has met both [these shows] since their January debuts makes it clear that these two brash and sophisticated series are burgeoning hits,” Showtime entertainment president David Nevins said in announcing the pick-ups. “[Shameless EP] John Wells is carving out a tone that is truly unique in the television landscape — equal parts drama and comedy. And Episodes marks the universally embraced and hilarious return to television of an inspired comedy triumvirate: Matt LeBlanc, and creators Jeffrey Klarik and David Crane. We are thrilled with the response to both series and eager to start planning for their second seasons.”
Shameless — which with nearly four million weekly viewers across multiple platforms is on pace to be Showtime’s second-highest rated drama series (behind Dexter) — was granted a 12-episode order for Season 2. The episode count for Episodes is at this time “TBD.”
Production on both shows’ sophomore runs will start later this year with an eye on 2012 premieres.
Despite the fact that William H. Macy is the co-star of Showtime's Shameless, with such a big 'family' he's has not gotten a huge amount of screen time yet. As you can see in the sneak peek, 'Boot and Rally' Macy, when set loose as 'Frank Gallagher', is quite a treat. Looking forward to this week's eppy on Sunday (it's 'appointment television' for spouse and I) to find out why Frank is behaving like a good dad.

Very clever. I'm hoping that my spouse does not succumb to the V-day hype and buy me chocolates. Please, don't let him buy stoopid chocolates. Lunch at Berghoff's in the city couple of days ago was perfect. It goes without saying (but) I'll say it anyway: No card, either!
Sean and Matt spend a day bonding together with a trip to Las Vegas, leaving Beverly feeling left out of her husband's new bromance and leading to a revealing confrontation between her and the star.
Here are links to all three complete episodes of Episodes:
Sean and Beverly attend a swanky dinner party at Merc's house where Sean falls prey to Matt's flattery and attention, while Beverly resists the star's charms and discovers that having Matt LeBlanc as an enemy is a bad idea.
Episodes: Episode 1 (Full Episode)
The only thing crazier than making a hit TV show, is remaking one. Matt LeBlanc stars as Matt LeBlanc, the seemingly innocent actor who's making more trouble than friends in the new Showtime Original Comedy Series EPISODES.
NEW EPISODES: Sundays at 9:30PM ET/PT, only on SHOWTIME.
Repost:
Often it takes some time for a new series to build an audience, to find it's footing. That's how I feel after watching all seven episodes of 'Episodes' on Showtime. Because each episode is only about 30 minutes, the entirely of the series is about the length of a film. Yet obviously, Episodes is not a film and so does not follow the structure of one. Although I felt that there were many funny moments and certainly great talent in the first 2 hours/ 6 episodes of Episodes,' it was not until the 7th episode that I felt that I'd gotten in the groove, so to speak, with the show. To me, that is totally OK as it is my habit to watch the first 7 or eight hour-long episodes of a show before I reach a conclusion about whether I wish to continue. Episode 7 of Episodes, which I realize is still weeks away, was the show hitting it stride, finding it's pitch, whatever metaphor you wish to use.
When it reached it's conclusion I turned to my watching partner and said,' This show is going to be a hit," and he did not hesitate in agreeing with me. If you have been watching I urge you to 'hang in there' because there is a payoff, which I believe will set the tone for season 2--one of smart hilarity.
William H. Macy, Frank Gallagher on 'Shameless' and wife Felicity Huffman, (Desperate Housewives) 'not wasted' (2005):
Macy as he appears when filming 'Shameless.' (2011)
Sort of crucial to remember this is just a TV show and Macy is not really drunk--just pretending, huh? There have been a number of unlikable characters on TV over the years. The fun is loving to hate on some of these characters (not the actors, usually).
Q: I really like Shameless, but will Frank (William H. Macy) always be wasted?
A: The drunkest dad on television will voluntarily sober up around the sixth episode, but don't expect it to last very long. "He becomes a really cool father," William H. Macy says. "It gives you a glimpse into the father that Frank might've been or could be. My oldest boy, Lip, can't take it. He Tasers me and pours vodka in my mouth."
The lovely Emmy Rossum, co-star of Showtime's Shameless on the Los Angeles set on the last day of filming in L.A. They were to fly to Chicago to finish some exterior scenes this week in the City of Big Shoulders.
I'm giving them away! To be in the running for the giveaway just drop a comment here in this post telling me one reason why you enjoy Shameless! I'll announce the 2 lucky winners on this blog on Sunday, February 13th. Good Luck!
Q: Got any scoop on what's coming up? A: Hank has always been a good father and he's trying to get back into Becca's good graces. In the next episode, he takes his budding musician daughter to buy a guitar, but his credit card is declined. Later, he writes the most beautiful heartfelt apology letter which unfortunately coincides with a lot of alcohol and a handful of pills...
...which was more than I was going to tell you as I [erm] saw them. Now I'll have to spill on something else about the David Duchovny-directed episode 'Suicide Solution,' on Californication. In a Saturday posting. :)
There's even more. Want to see pretty pics of both David Duchovny and Carla Gugino? Here you go.

Videos: Shameless: GREAT William H. Macy Interview, Sneek Peek ('Don't Even Know Him' )
In the video embedded in this post (above), William H. Macy, in describing the show, opines that: 'there is nothing else like (Shameless) on TV.'
I agree with Macy completely. It's rare when you watch a new show and after just one episode ('Pilot') you know you love it and can't wait to watch more. But it's totally like that with 'Shameless.'
Emmy Rossum-- OMG. She knocks it out of the park as eldest daughter, Fiona. Love her. And Joan Cusak (Sheila) is so perfectly cast, too! This is a role that must be fun for her to play 'cos she's so delishishly fun to watch, especially in her scenes with Bill Macy (Frank Gallagher). The kids are really great, too, as is Justin Chatwin as Rossum's new love interest, 'Steve.'
I love William H. Macy. He has such integrity (see video)! I 'extra like' him because he is I believe, an 'actor's actor,' who directs and writes and act and acts and acts(!) He's just a gifted man in a number of areas--I so enjoy his work-- and I am glad he's landed, for a least a while,* at premium cabler Showtime.
*Meaning the season is short like 'series' are in the UK. I hope it runs forever. :)
(I'm also blown away that William H. Macy originated one of the roles in a David Mamet play that did so to great acclaim, 'American Buffalo.' Macy & Mamet have collaborated otherwise as well which endears him to me further. Plus, I loved ER back in the day of Julianna Margulies and George Clooney when Bill Macy had a recurring role as chief of (everything?) 'Dr. Morgenstern.'. If none of these fine moments in the career of William H. Macy ring a bell, how 'bout in the film in which he co-starred, Fargo, 'as 'Jerry Lundergaard?'
Showtime will be sampling the first episode of CALIFORNICATION and the series premieres of EPISODES and SHAMELESS unedited and ONLINE! And! You can check out all three of the shows right here on my blog!
The episodes will go live just after the premiere on Sunday, January 9th (they’ll play the trailers for their respective shows until then). Also, through Monday, Jan 10th Showtime, Showtime HD, and Showtime on Demand® will be free for all to coincide perfectly with Sunday’s premieres!
I just love free stuff, don't you?! Be sure to check back not only for your free look at the first episodes of these Showtime shows--unedited but to follow me as I follow Shameless, Californication and Episodes through their seasons!
1) The writing by David Crane & Jeffrey Klarik is super sharp and very funny. 2) The cast, from lead to support, are excellent--Matt LeBlanc stars alongside two superb British actors, Stephen Mangan and Tamsin Greig. I'm so happy to have discovered all three of them* and, 3) Episodes is from Showtime, who rarely miss when they aim for great.
*More on Matt in a bit.
What Episodesis about: 'Husband and wife writing team Sean and Beverly can't wait to bring their successful British television series across the pond to make it big in America. But in true Hollywood fashion, it quickly becomes a laughable, clichéd sitcom - starring none other than Matt LeBlanc. Matt not only messes with their beloved show, he rocks the foundation of their relationship. So now, even if they survive the absurdity of show business, will their marriage survive Matt LeBlanc?'
Episodes takes on some familiar territory but does so with verve, biting humour, and originality.
Matt LeBlanc stars as himself starring in a TV comedy, so it is structured as a show within a show. My reaction to a Matt LeBlanc-led production was not quite as extreme as Beverly's (Tamsin Grieg)--utter horror--but I'd wasn't familiar with his work other than via all the 'Joey' jokes that were made about the character LeBlanc played in the much-loved American sitcom, 'Friends.' Turns out, I like the guy!
LeBlanc as well, Matt LeBlanc, is a bit of an arse in Episodes. He well aware that he's thought of as such and is first to admit to his own foibles, making him quite likable despite his sometimes extremely annoying behaviour. In sharp contrast to LeBlanc, Merc Lepidus (John Pancow) the president of the network, is utterly spoiled, mercurial, unfaithful to his spouse and un-loyal to everyone in general. He's a perfect example of someone rising to the level of their ineptitude. Pancow nails the character, making Merc easily despicable.
The hapless writers in Episodes, Sean and Beverly, are a husband-wife writing team who accepted the offer of a lifetime to jump across the pond from their British successes with their award-winning series to a chance to strike it bigger in Hollywood. Previous to Episodes, I'd not seen any of the work done by Stephen Mangan and Tamsin Greig, and I'm so very glad to have discovered them. They worked together with much acclaim in their native U.K. and it's immediately apparent why. The chemistry is intense and appealing and they are very funny.
Enjoy a look at the sure-to-be a hit, Episodes which premieres on SHOWTIME Sunday, January 9th at 9:30 PM ET/PT:
EPISODES premieres on SHOWTIME Sunday, January 9th at 9:30 PM ET/PT, following the Season Four premiere of CALIFORNICATION, and followed by the series premiere of SHAMELESS. Encores will be broadcast throughout the week and available On Demand and on Showtime Anytime™.
Merry Christmas!!! ... Have you been naughty or nice this year?
'O, Christmas moose ...' Dave Barry (c) 2005 Tribune Media Services Published December 4, 2005
Today's holiday topic is: Christmas Tree Care.
The Christmas tree is a cherished holiday tradition that dates back 500 years, to the early Germans. What happened was, one night right around Christmas, a bunch of early Germans were sitting around, and one of them, named Helmut, said: "I know! Let's chop down a perfectly good fir tree, drag it inside, and see if we can get it to stand up again!"
"Why in the world would we do THAT?" asked the other early Germans, who also happened to speak English.
"It's a cherished holiday tradition!" replied Helmut.
This made sense to the other Germans, because they had just invented beer. So they went out, chopped down a tree, dragged it home and spent the next four days trying to make it stand up. We now know that, under the laws of physics, this is impossible. Nevertheless, the tradition of trying to erect Christmas trees continues to the present day.
We should be grateful that the early Germans didn't decide to drag home some large forest organism that is even LESS appropriate for interior use than a tree. Imagine what Christmas would be like today if they had used, for example, a moose. We'd have millions of families driving home with a dead Christmas moose strapped to the roof of the car; and then Dad would spend hours trying to get the moose to fit into a cheesy $4.99 drugstore moose stand; and then the whole family would decorate it; and then, as everybody gathered around in admiration, it would topple majestically to the ground. So it would be essentially the same as what we do now, except that Dad would not get pine sap in his hair.
But the point is that the Christmas tree is a cherished tradition, as reflected in the lyrics to the classic Christmas carol "O Tannenbaum":
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum,
Something something something,
So bring us some figgy pudding,
But not TOO figgy, because we get gas.
Now let's talk about caring for your Christmas tree. According to the American Association Of Guys Without All Their Teeth Selling Christmas Trees From Tents, the major varieties of Christmas tree are: pine, spruce, Douglas fir, walnut, fake, balsa and Douglas Firbanks Jr. Once you have gotten the tree home and set up in its stand (allowing six to eight weeks) you will want to take measures to prevent it from shedding needles all over your floor. The best way to do this, according to the Association, is to "remove your floor." If that is not practical, you can make a mixture of four cups of water, two tablespoons of bleach and one tablespoon of sugar, but it will do you no good.
When decorating the tree, always use strings of cheap lights manufactured in Third World nations that only recently found out about electricity. Shop around for light strings that have been pre-snarled at the factory for your convenience.
OK! Now that we've covered tree care, it's time for this:
SPECIAL HOLIDAY SAFETY TIP: If you're staging a Nativity show, and you're thinking of using live animals, you had best think again. This tip is based on an alarming newspaper story from the Annapolis, Md., Capital.
The story, which I swear I am not making up, is headlined: "Huge camel fleeing live Nativity scene is killed on Route 50." It states that on the night of Dec. 21, a church was preparing to stage a Nativity show featuring live animals, when a 6-foot-tall, 600-pound camel named Ernie escaped, ran onto a highway, was struck by a car and went to That Big Zoo in the Sky. The article quotes the driver of the car that hit Ernie as saying: "How in the hell is a camel on Route 50 in the United States of America?"
These are words that we would all be wise to remember. But let us not let the threat of colliding with escaped camels dampen the joy we feel during this special time of year, as expressed in the traditional carol "Deck the Halls":
TV Guide network will air a six-night marathon of episodes from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. ET/PT from Sunday through Friday, then air four episodes back-to-back every Sunday at 9 p.m., starting Oct. 24.
A website, www.WeedsAwareness.com, will offer a "Grow Weeds Awareness" starter kit with signs and bumper stickers, a "How to Throw Your Own 'Weeds' Party" guide, and a guide to "other" activities.
Weeds is truly a unique show with an incredibly loyal audience--that needs to grow a lot.
Why? Because Weeds is funny, real, and incredibly well-written and acted.
Up until now it has been on pay-cable but it is now FREE to you and me. In other words, they've thrown open the doors to the teeming hordes.
I like this very much because 1) I came to Weeds late in the second season and have only picked it up from the start in bits and pieces and, 2) I'm incredibly cheap frugal and prefer not to buy the DVD's as I already pay to watch the show in real time on Showtime. (I would LOVE the entire series as a gift, however.)
This has been said before but it bears repeating. "Weeds" is not about drugs. It's about a family. It is not pro-marijuana. In showing some of the potential drastic consequences of selling or possession of cannabis it could be viewed as slightly anti-marijuana (no, I'm not kidding).
Finally, above all the mom on Weeds, the completely adorable and kick-ass actress Mary Louise Parker, has never taken a toke in the almost 6 seasons Weeds has aired. She does not smoke "weed." "Nancy Botwin" has a massive coffee addiction and has been known to consume alcohol and an occasional cigarette but nope, Weeds is not a show about a Mom who smokes pot. She does however deal it and in doing so mines a great deal of humour for us the audience, to consume.
Kevin Nealon is spreading the word about National Weeds Awareness Week. TV Guide Network's week long Weeds marathon continues tonight at 9/8c.
This is 'Nancy Botwin' (Mary-Louise Parker) near the end of season 6, in episode (11?) called 'Fran Tarkenton." I have no idea why it has that title but I'm hoping to find out as it airs this coming Monday, 11.08.10 on Showtime. (showtime photo credit)
And in the interest of being fair and balanced... This is YOUR Brain on Drugs (Mmm, eggs).

You should follow @actingoutlaws on Twitter: Katee Sackhoff is luring Tricia Helfer into the desert, ostensibly "to raise money for the Gulf Coast Relief Fund." I'm sure that isn't code for anything, but I'm also pretty sure Thunderdome is somewhere between LA and Louisiana.
Susan Carpenter, motorcycle columnist for the Los Angeles Times rides with Battlestar Galactica stars Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff on Angeles Crest Highway.
Oh, Steve Martin, you may be the funniest ex-Disneyland cast member on the planet!
Since I've started "following" Steve both on this blogging system and on his Twitterfeed I have had a hearty laugh every single day. Working freelance I have quite a bit of alone time and my two dogs just cannot keep up with my required daily dosage of humour. That why I love Steve Martin.
First, it's an apt metaphor for the entire series, in that
it contains the promise of a blinding revelation, but it's hard to find,
and if you do find it and try to penetrate it, it vanishes and in the
process spews out all this bullshit.
I am so on board with this assessment of LOST, especially the spewing of "all this bullshit(e)" -part.
I can only enjoy LOST if I think of it as an old skool DC comic book.
Does anyone else besides me remember LOST being referred to (by one of the characters out -of-character, I think) as "Craphole Island"? That could also be a nice fit for "gold hole."
LESBIAN VAMPIRE KILLERS is British composer Debbie Wiseman’s gothic romantic soundtrack to
Phil Claydon’s horror comedy. Wiseman is well-known in the British film and television
composition industry for her lyrical style and penchant for melody and
the soundtrack she created for Lesbian
Vampire Killers proves this still true. In a similar way to Arsène Lupin (2005), Lesbian Vampire
Killers has a bold, Gothic darkness to it, tinged with a large amount of
highly thematic orchestral and choral beauty, which belies its clearly
comic roots.
The soundtrack features The
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Crouch End Festival Chorus and popular
classical singer, Hayley Westenra.
Released by Silva Screen Records, the
musical score for Lesbian Vampire Killers is comprised of
nineteen tracks, including Showaddywaddy’s 1976 UK chart-topping “Under The
Moon Of Love.”
Even though Wiseman adopts a full-bodied gothic orchestral approach for Lesbian
Vampire Killers, she peppers the soundtrack with fun, lighter
selections, creating musically an entity that provides listeners
with a range of compositions — from the seductive suggestion of tracks
like “Centuries Ago…” to the epic grandeur of “Lesbian Vampire Killers”.
Unlike the spine-tingling, terrifying quality often sought in
traditional horror scores, Wiseman’s compositions are at times melodic
and playful, contributing to the comedic nature of Lesbian Vampire
Killers’s storyline. LVK is an
interesting, varied soundtrack that embodies each of the various
qualities of the film it accompanies and expertly employs both The Royal
Philharmonic Orchestra and The Crouch End Festival Chorus.
One of the coolest features of the Lesbian Vampire Killers
soundtrack is how the track tracks were named, many of them named for quotes
from or scenes in the film. In particular, “I Know Something Really
Wrong Is Happening Here, But Is There Any Chance We Can Just Ignore It?”
and “Have You Been Hanging Out With Vicars?” are two compositions whose
names are direct quotes from the film — and some of the film’s funnier
quotes, as well.

Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in.
- Mark Twain, a Biography
Love seems the swiftest, but it is the slowest of all growths. No man or woman really knows what perfect love is until they have been married a quarter of a century.
- Notebook, 1894
If husbands could realize what large returns of profit may be gotten out
of
a wife by a small word of praise paid over the counter when the market
is just
right, they would bring matters around the way they wish them much
oftener than
they usually do. Arguments are unsafe with wives, because they examine
them;
but they do not examine compliments. One can pass upon a wife a
compliment that
is three-fourths base metal; she will not even bite it to see if it is
good;
all she notices is the size of it, not the quality.

Fey in re: 'Bombshell' Michelle McGee. "I know we shouldn't judge people by their appearance but when your body looks like a dirtbag's binder from 7th grade metal shop..."
I watched three of the sketches and the Palin one is actually the weakest. Watch 'Weekend Update' and The 'Masters' sketch in which she is 'Ashlyn St. Cloud,' 'Tiger Expert' commentator.
Comedienne and actress Tina Fey reprised her role as Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live last night.
Last night was a homecoming for Fey, a former SNL cast member and writer.
Fey now stars in and runs the half-hour NBC comedy 30 Rock, and is appearing opposite Steve Carrell in the new movie Date Night. She hasn’t been a total stranger to sketch comedy, though; during the 2008 Presidential election, she garnered praise and massive viral video views for her portrayal of then-Governor Sarah Palin in SNL’s political sketches. She reprised that role in one of last night’s sketches.

Fey is very funny here--I love how she takes the knife of truth and twists just a bit more in Tiger's um, never mind.
The collective iPad announcement nerdgasm is wearing. me. out. I'm sure it's awesome. I'm also dead certain I'd drop mine, or get jacked for it, so I am not buying one until they're made of titaniumplutoniumcarbonite and can handle the abuse I dish out.
