We are rapidly approaching the season 8 premiere of Dexter, which will also bring us the series' conclusion. Since this is such a crucial part of the entire series, I'm laying out now how I will share information about Dexter episodes before they air.

In writing about Dexter I've done my best to separate true spoilers from the 'in-case-you-are-behind-on-your-viewing 'spoilers.' Forever A Fangirl's policy is, if the episode has been broadcast or in some way made legally available for the public to view, then anything said about it is not a spoiler.

Put simply, spoilers happen before the episode is broadcast. Just the same, since there's just not enough room to explain the nuances of a sorta-spoiler, a small spoiler and a SPOILER in my blog post titles, I'm using the word 'spoiler' whenever I have intel on an episode or character or story arc that has not aired.

That said, any inside information that I may have picked up prior to a Dexter epsiode being broadcast I will share--up to a point. Otherwise, why bother watching? Perhaps 'tease' is a better word, as if you are determined enough you may glean from the tease enough info to put two and two together. OK? Okay.

Showtime issued a press release today which you can scroll down to read. Though it is cool to know that the story picks up six months after Deb murdered Maria Laguerta, I'm going to hone in on the enticing mention of this character:

First up is Dr. Evelyn Vogel, a formidable and whip smart neuro-psychiatrist in her late 50s who assists the law in profiling criminals.

This is what Showtime said about her today:

'a mysterious woman comes to work with Miami Metro, offering first-hand information on Dexter’s past.'

Previously, Showtime described her thusly: "a neuro-psychiatrist who specializes in working with young psychopaths and profiling criminals in unorthodox ways" (my italics).

British acting veteran Charlotte Rampling is joining Dexter (I believe her part is considered 'recurring') as Dr. Evelyn Vogel. Here she is pictured at work:

I don't know about you, but I'd say what Dr. Vogel is doing in this screenshot is pretty 'unorthodox'.

It was sweet for about 5 minutes with Marcy and Charlie  being thrown back together due to their significances' cheating on them with each other plus the long-anticipated reunion of Hank and  Karen before Hank's 'one drink' with psycho ex-girlfrind, firestarter "Carrie' (Nataliee Zea) threw a HUGE monkeywrench into things.

Becca tells Hank that Tyler proposed.

In the Season 5 finale, Hank discovers the bartender at a local watering hole is his late friend Lew Ashby and wonders if he's in Hell. Richard makes a startling announcement about Hank and Karen. Hank tries to make things right with Becca, but her news about Tyler leaves him stunned. On the set of "Santa Monica Cop," Sam's jealousy and fondness for firearms give Charlie an opportunity to show how much he loves his best friend and number-one client; Hank's arsonist ex-girlfriend surprises him with a way for them to be together forever. In the fifth-season finale, Hank walks into a bar filled with shadowy figures and a bartender who is a long-departed friend. Later, he goes to the movie set, where Charlie proves how much of a friend he is by almost taking a bullet for him, literally.

Californication continues to be witty and irreverent with just enough humanity tossed into the mix to ensure that we care about the characters. I still don't know how David Duchovny does it. He did the same with his character, 'Agent Mulder' in the X-Files. He was kind of an ass but a wry, witty ass and against better judgment, we liked him--a lot. The same goes for his character on Californication, writer 'Hank Moody.' He does some incredibly selfish, immature things but his heart seems to be in the right place and there's no questioning his love of his daughter and her mother--no matter how weirdly he displays that love.

After Hank finishes his script for Santa Monica cop, Charlie asks him to say in L.A.

Things start to heat up when Hank is asked to show Kali a night on the town

Full Synopsis: Episode 5.03 - 'Boys and Girls' - Hank delivers a completed draft of "Santa Monica Cop" to Samurai Apocalypse but his attempts to leave town are once again thwarted when he's asked to show a night on the town to Kali, his "acquaintance" from the flight to Los Angles; Tyler crashes with Karen and Becca while he recovers from his injuries; things get unprofessional fast when Charlie is saved from a serious parental crisis by his son's nanny, Lizzie.

Next on Episode 3 Hank delivers a script and tries to leave town but events keep him in L.A.

Everyone in the regular cast of True Blood here at the Dome at the Arclight Hollywood season 4 premiere event looks really nice of course, but pretty much themselves (meaning their real-life selves) except Sam Trammell ('Sam Merlotte') who, though he often has the lovely Missy Yager at his side, has not to my knowledge appeared by her side whilst she was blooming, soon to be a mother! Congrats to both of them!

I just wanted to again note how much Todd Lowe transforms himself into the character 'Terry Bellfleuer', the shell-shocked Gulf War vet-short order cook on True Blood. "

He is one fine-looking man and I think more pics of him---maybe in his band would be really nice in addition to the MANY shots of the "big three." Love them too, but oi, they are everywhere and there are only so many poses and facial gestures they can make for variety (and it's been 4 years!)  So more Todd Lowe, please?

Look up high, specifically on the side of the 9000 building along Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, California and you will see a quartet of sexy supernaturals including vampires 'Eric' (Alexander Skarsgård) and 'Bill' (Stephen Moyer), werewolf 'Alcide' ( Joe Manganiello) and faery-telepath 'Sookie' (Anna Paquin).

It is pretty apparent that all three guys are into Ms. Stackhouse but which of the potential/former suitor(s) will she choose? You'll have to tune in to HBO's True Blood on June 26 to begin to get the answer. Until then, keep looking around!

Californication: Relationship Conversation  

Hank and Abby discuss their relationship.

I don't know if it is because this little clip is (of necessity) out of context, but it seems an awkward scene to me. It could be that it is meant to be awkward as does Hank, besides having a relationship with his daughter and his ex (and  bf, Charlie), even have real relationships?

Specifically with women he's 'dating,' Hank doesn't get that serious, does he? (I ask, as 1. it doesn't seem that he does and 2. this is my 1st season watching Californication.)

The thing that is throwing me a bit about Hank and Abby is that neither seem particularly in need of anything deeper than what they have, which let's face it (excluding the attorney-client thing), is that they are f**k buddies. Should be interesting to find out where they end up.

Yep! She's gotten better looking and she always was cute. You watched All My Children? I've always sort of followed her career and she's done okay (except she's had a DUI or two. *ouch*) So here's an excuse for a bit of Jenny Gardner a/k/a Kim Delaney (who happens to have been born on my two years-old birthday (think for a sec), formerly of the soap opera AMC on American TV network, ABC.*

Update 2011: As of 2006, Kim had again entered alcohol rehab. The mid- '00's were not so great for her.

Poor, dead Jenny. Anything to get away from that drip of a husband, Greg. *shudder*

True Blood - Rutina Wesley: Cutest Smile Ever?

TRUE BLOOD'S "Tara," Rutina Wesley, and husband Jacob Fishel:

I'm not usually one to go for "on-the-street photographs" of True Blood (or any other) actors during their off time--unless they are clearly not being ambushed--as is the case here with the adorable Rutina Wesley (Tara Thornton). (Does anyone have a prettier smile than she? I thought not!) I'd not even considered that she might be married as I've not seen her pictured previously with anyone identified as her spouse. But here's pictorial evidence that the True Blood cutie goes home to a cutie of her own--husband Jacob Fishel, who she is pictured with shopping in Hollywood just yesterday (2.12.10).
