'You like those odds?!' - Fiona (Emmy Rossum) to brother 'Lip' (Jeremy Allen White) about the very poor chance that Lip is not Karen's baby-daddy.
Watch the sneak peek clip of the shot above. It's a really good scene where Fiona, clearly anxious to talk to 'Lip' about his recently revealed possible paternity of the baby that the now-engaged-to-'Jody,' Karen (Laura Slade Wiggins) is carrying.
Lip is clearly not dealing with the news that Karen is pregnant. He found out after trying to get her betrothed, Jody, to cheat on her. Karen found out and confronted Lip, kicking him in the 'nads, sending him to the ground and then kicking him in the side repeatedly whilst disclosing her delicate condition to Lip and the audience in/around the Gallagher pool. Nice.
This episode looks like big fun too as what might be a moment not-quite-revealed about someone who had essentially, been missing since last season--and I don't mean 'Eddie.'
Frank tries to claim Eddie's insurance benefits and pension, despite being a prime suspect in his death; Fiona attends a ritzy wedding with Richard and lies about her background; Lip is devastated by Karen's rejection; Carl rents Frank's room to a hooker. (Source: Showtime)
"Mistress Veronica"
Veronica suspects that Kevin is having an affair.
Next on Episode 5 Frank tries to claim Eddie's benefits; Fiona lies about her past.
'Lip' to 'Fiona' on the potential paternity of Karen's fetus: ...'Could've been the guy on Wolcott with the lazy eye and the Mustang...'
'Showtime has picked up "Shameless, 'House of Lies" and "Californication" for new seasons, the network announced Wednesday:
"Californication" will return for a sixth season, "Shameless" for a third and "House of Lies" for a second. Production on the shows will begin later this year in Los Angeles.
"Shameless," an hour-long dramedy from John Wells, has watched its ratings grow in its sophomore season. It recently exceeded the viewership of the series debut of HBO's "Luck" -- with 1.4 million viewers to "Luck's" 1.1 million viewers. "House of Lies," which airs after "Shameless" on Sundays and stars Don Cheadle, had a strong premiere by the cable network's standards, with more than 1 million viewers, and has built on that as the season has progressed.
Veteran "Californication" is averaging 3 million viewers across all platforms (On Demand, replays and DVR), according to the network.'

For the next few months, if you stay current on the casting calls and newly-cast members you'll have a good chance at getting a rough sketch of what some of TRUE BLOOD Season 5 will look like. So far, the biggest casting coup has been that of one Mr. Chris Meloni.
Casting however, is ongoing along with the rest of the season 5 True Blood production so between now and True Blood's June 2012 season 5 debut, I'll gather up the latest scoopage (and spoilers!) and periodically share with you. I'm not wild about blaring trumpets announcing casting calls for expendable extras (for example) so I'll hold on to that stuff to include with posts like this one with news worthy of you sinking your fangs into.
Kristen TRUE BLOOD SCOOP - January 23, 2012:
Anything more on True Blood? Fact: We love us a good flashback, but we love 'em even more when they answer questions that we've been pondering for years. In episode four we're finally going to learn what happened to Terry (Todd Lowe) back in '03 when he was serving in Iraq—and believe us when we say it's going to be intense.
Newcomer Giles Matthey has landed the multi-episode role of a hot and mysterious British faery. One report has him catching Jessica’s attention, but that’s not confirmed. 'Claude' was previously played (briefly) by Neil Hopkins (LOST) on the show.
In the books, Claude is described as “the nephew of Sookie’s half-human/half-faery grandfather, 'Fintan', and cousin to Sookie’s father … He makes an impact on all women and is described as being absolutely breathtaking … He started out as a stripper at Hooligans, a club in Monroe, which he later becomes owner of, and has branched out to print and runway modeling … Women usually say “wow” when they see him, but his interest is men.”
There has been speculation that this season Pam (Kristen Bauer van Straten), Eric Northman’s (Alexander Skarsgård) 'child' and confidante, will have her origin story explored.
Alan Ball, creator and lead writer on the True Blood team is looking for a diverse roster of new cast members. A 'non-threatening man in his 30s' and a prostitute named 'Washcloth Helen' are among the casting calls. Both of these characters will be introduced during a flashback to a San Francisco brothel in 1905. The date is significant because 1905 is supposedly the year when Eric maid Pam vampire if you are following the books. The True Blood scribes have previously changed the story so the 'book fact' that Pam actually turns in London doesn't at all mean that TV Pam will do the same.
It's no secret that the legions of Pam fans have been clamouring for her backstory (we've witnessed both Bill and Eric's being turned) and it's also no secret that a) vampires don't age and b) human actors do. So doing the math, yes, season 5 would be a very good time to enjoy the story of how Pam voluntarily(!) became a vampire.
1 | Janina Gavankar revealed that “a major thing happens to Luna early in the season, and it’s going to change her life forever.”
2 | The cast learned that Chris Meloni was Bon Temps-bound last month at a table read, news that elicited “gasps” throughout the room, recalled Gavankar. “We’re so excited to have him.”
3 | Alcide’s days of playing Mr. Nice Guy are over. “As you saw at the end of Season 4, he’s not taking anyone’s s— anymore,” said the man-beast’s portrayer, Joe Manganiello. “Now you’re going to see an Alcide who’s going to slam you up against the wall and do his thing. Who doesn’t like being slammed up against the wall, right?” Asked to clarify his use of the word “slam” — i.e. is it a euphemism for, ahem, another s-word — Manganiello cracked a devilish smile and replied, “It could be a fun slam. And it could be an angry slam. You never know?” He then reminded us that, “Alcide is single.”
4 | The latest True Blood script Manganiello read contains “some really fun [Alcide-Sookie] stuff,” he revealed. “Stuff that makes you really nervous… I’m watching my words really carefully.”
5 | Ryan Kwanten hinted that Jason may have bitten off more than he could chew with regard to his romance with Jessica. “As you know, anyone who gets involved with Jason better have her wits about her,” he said. “But I think in this case, it’s Jason who better watch out. The tables have finally turned.”
6 | Where do you go after spending half of Season 4 being raped by a werepanther? “Even that can be topped,” teased Kwanten. “Jason was very lucky to survive; he was down for the count. He has a desire to life. I admire that in a man.”
Christopher Heyerdahl, who plays an ancient vampire in the Twilight Saga movies, will now play one in another screen adaptation of a popular book series, this time on TV. Heyerdahl is joining HBO’s hit vampire drama True Blood in a recurring role. He will portray 'Dieter Braun', an ancient, powerful vampire who plays a large part in the intelligence of the Authority and especially enjoys enhanced interrogation. That is familiar territory for Sanctuary alum Heyerdahl who played the ancient Volturi vampire Marcus in 3 of the Twilight movies: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and the upcoming Part 2. Additionally, he played a demon in an arc on the CW’s Supernatural. Heyerdahl... currently co-stars on the AMC drama series Hell On Wheels, playing Norwegian badass The Swede. The period Western was recently renewed for a second season.

Comic book fans be warned. If you're planning on avoiding Avengers spoilers ahead of the film's May 2012 release, this could be a big one.
Toymaker NECA sent a release detailing HeroClix product descriptions to retailers this week, and among the new collectables are Marvel's figurines for The Avengers. And while the heroes -- Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) -- and big bad Loki (Tom Hiddleston) are included, so is a previously unconfirmed character.
Red Skull, played by Hugo Weaving in last summer's Captain America: The First Avenger, is also name-checked, as MovieWeb points out.
The telling release reads as follows: "Charging straight out of theaters and onto your tabletop, Marvel's the Avengers Movie HeroClix set features heroes like Captain America and Thor as they battle the villainy of the Red Skull and Loki! Each Counter-Top display includes standard one-figure boosters as well as new three-figure 'Team Packs!' Team Packs are designed with strong thematic undertones - play a Hydra force or defend freedom with a S.H.I.E.L.D. team pack."
Could Red Skull be playing second fiddle to Loki? The Joss Whedon-directed feature has been rumored to have another villain since production started, but it's thus far been kept a secret.
Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye in The AVENGERS (May 2012)
The Avengers arrives in theaters May 4, 2012.
Nick Fury
Samuel L. Jackson plays Nick Fury, the director of the super-spy agency. S.H.I.E.L.D. Jackson rounded up the Avengers, with cameo appearances in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.
Saw an interesting opinion the other day about "Who shot Nancy Botwin?' (on Showtime's "WEEDS") if indeed she was shot.
Also, just read a really facinating interview with Showtime president David Nevins about Weeds and some other signature Showtime shows too, as well as a couple getting ready to debut like Homeland. I excerpted a couple Q's below but be sure to click through because the article is worth a read. (Scroll down below the possible SPOILER coming up...)
"Nancy Botwin" with son 'Silas', ' Guillermo,' and in back, husband 'Esteban'
Q: So was that a season or series finale of Weeds? A: Though Showtime has yet to renew the series, we hear that this isn't the last we've seen of the Botwin clan. So what does that mean for Nancy? Did 'Guillermo' finally exact revenge after all these years of abuse? Possibly! We ran into Guillermo Diaz on the Scandal set, and he revealed that:
SPOILER.
'Guillermo actually appeared in the penultimate episode (of Weeds!):
He also mentioned that the cast, including him, are expecting to be back for another season. (Time to re-watch that episode again, stat!)'
It's not often that a network executive gets to take over in a period of prosperity. Usually, the previous guy was fired, and usually because things haven't been going well. But Showtime entertainment president David Nevins took over the pay cable channel last summer not because there was a crisis, but because predecessor Robert Greenblatt was looking for new challenges (in this case, trying to resurrect NBC) after seven successful years.
Under Greenblatt's watch, Showtime went from HBO afterthought to a channel with its own clear identity, with a roster of shows that became Emmy contenders from the moment they were announced, and in the case of "Dexter," a very clear hit...
Well, speaking of that, "Dexter" is your biggest hit. It's done very, very well for you. But that is a show where it seems, no matter who is behind the wheel, it has certain things it does each and every year. Last year, we were told, "This will not be like any other year. We're not going to have a big bad who winds up strapped to Dexter's table," and that's pretty much what happened with Jonny Lee Miller's character. You said in the executive session that that's a show you'd like to see go on for many more years to come.
As a programmer, I believe in change. I'm not scared of change. I know where they're going this season and have some sense of where they could go in subsequent seasons. Just as you have to keep seeding your network with the next new thing, in long-running shows you have to make changes, and I think sometimes people get very conservative about, "Don't mess with the formula. It works." In the same way I think it's good to mess with your programming formula, I think long-running shows mess with the formula. The difference between "ER" and "Ally McBeal" is that "ER" changed a lot over the years and ran for 14 years, versus "Ally McBeal," which burned bright, didn't change and went away. I think "Jackie" and "Dexter" both are into that moment where they need to mess with what they're doing. There's going to be some things that happen over this season of "Dexter" that can change some of the DNA in the show.
...I wrote a story that mentioned in passing that "Weeds" is the one Showtime comedy that significantly evolves as it goes along...
'(And) when I actually looked at the (Weed's viewership) numbers, they've been very strong over time.'
'The numbers really hold up. I think it's (Weeds is) ballsy....a...great advantage... every year: you wipe the slate clean, start with a new story, and you can pull things forward that you want to pull forward, you can change things) or not, if you get sick of someone you can kill them, etc...'
The original Dark Shadows was 'a memorably offbeat ABC daytime drama about a vampire whose extended family are bedeviled by ghosts, witches, and other Gothic woes.'
Johnny Depp has recounted how as a boy he practically raced home to watch Dark Shadows after school each day. I did the same but living in the Northeast (versus Depp's Kentucky) we got released from school too late in the afternoon to watch the entire episode. I still turned it on and caught the second act of each one-hour installment. As Depp says, Dark Shadows was 'very weird' so it didn't really seem to matter that I was only getting about half the narrative. The parts I saw were terrifically fun and seemed quite subversive being unreeled during weekday afternoons.
“I remember seeing a group photograph of the cast of the original series,” he told EW. “For me it captured the weird Dark Shadows vibe in a single image." - Dark Shadows director Tim Burton
'Weird certainly sums up this particular family portrait — a shot director Tim Burton, who also obsessed over Dark Shadows as a boy, staged in the early days of production.
Here’s the Collins family, from left to right with a brief description of each character following:
Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter) – From Alice in Wonderland’s Red Queen, to the cannibalistic cook Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd, Burton can’t help but cast the mother of his children as a deranged person. This prim and proper psychiatrist, who has taken up residence with the Collins family to care for their troubled youngest boy, might seem to break that trend — but don’t bet on it....
Carolyn Stoddard (Chloë Moretz) — Though she played a voracious child vampire in the critically acclaimed Let Me In, Moretz is on the human side of the spectrum in Dark Shadows — though that doesn’t mean this cousin of young David Collins (and daughter of Michelle Pfeiffer’s character, seen on the far right) isn’t without her own peculiarities...
Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green) — The Bond girl from Casino Royale turns up here as the villain of the story. “Angelique is a witch who has known Barnabas since the 1700s, when they had an affair that went sour. She is the one who cursed him to be a vampire and locked him in that box...”
David Collins (Gulliver McGrath) — Lonely, confused, and neglected by his pompous father (Jonny Lee Miller, over on the right next to Pfeiffer), David has no one to confide in except his bizarre psychiatrist — and the dead people he claims to see...
Victoria Winters (Bella Heathcote) — This young woman arrives to become David’s new governess, only to find herself swept up in the vampire-witch melodrama. “When Barnabas meets Victoria, he’s instantly reminded of the woman he lost in the 1700s, before he was cursed to be a vampire...”
Mrs. Johnson (Ray Shirley) — “Poor old Mrs. Johnson …” Grahame-Smith sighs when talk turns to the old woman seated in the back behind Depp. “She is the mostly blind, mostly deaf maid, who has been with them for decades and decades... I don’t think she actually says anything in the entire film....
Willie Loomis (Jackie Earle Haley) — How awesome is it to play an actual Groundskeeper Willie? The Oscar-nominee for Little Children is... the guy who takes out the trash, mows the lawns, and fixes the cars, except he’s usually so drunk and so disinterested that he doesn’t take his job seriously anymor..."
Roger Collins (Jonny Lee Miller) — This scion of the once-great Collins family is one of the main reasons the aristocratic clan has fallen into such disgrace. “He’s a creepy, self-centered guy who likes to order Willie around, likes to pretend the family is still on top of his game...”
Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) — The mother of Carolyn Stoddard, and mother-figure to David, she’s the one adult member of the Collins clan who is at least slightly competent. “Elizabeth is the rock of the family. She’s the matriarch,”...with a witch perpetually trying to destroy her, and a long lost vampire relative turning up to reclaim control...'

Before shooting, Depp said: “What Jonathan Frid did with that character and that classic look he created… I find it very difficult to stray very far from that. I think it’s going to be somewhere in that arena, with maybe just a couple of different touches here and there.
“I do remember, very vividly, practically sprinting home from school in the afternoon to see Jonathan Frid play Barnabas Collins,” the actor says. “Even then, at that age, I knew — this has got to be weird.” -- Johnny Depp

Update! July 29, 2011 - HBO renews True Blood, Show creator Alan Ball signs on for Season 5:
Big news at the opening of the True Blood panel at TCA: Series creator/executive producer Alan Ball said he has just closed a deal to do another season of the HBO series(!), effectively sealing the fifth-season renewal of the hit vampire drama. Ball disclosed the fact that he has re-signed in response to a request to address speculation that Season 4 could be his last. "I have no desire to leave," he said. "Doing the show, I'm having more fun than I have ever had in my life." He later said that he and the show's writers are already breaking stories for Season 5 and one of them is about "how one of the vampires was made."
Jul 29, 2011 - This trailer is comprehensive through the first 9 episodes of Season 4 of HBO's True Blood.
Other highlights from the True Blood presentation at TCA [SPOILERS]:
* They will be going back to see how one of the vampires was made in season five. Kristin Bauer van Straten said at Comic-Con that she really hopes we get to see how Eric made Pam*, so it looks like she'll get that plot wish granted.
<raises hand>
Me, too!
Wouldn't you love to see Pam get made!?
On HBO series True Blood she is known as Pam de Beaufort. On the show except for the fact that Pam is cryptically funny, beautiful, ruthless, lesbian/maybe bi and most importantly, Eric Northman's sire, we know little of her backstory.
In in the Charlaine Harris-penned Sookie Stackhouse book series (where she originated) Pam Ravenscroft was a young, aristocratic but unconventional woman who did not want to be penned in by her circumstances.
Unlike many made vampire, Pam voluntarily surrendered herself to Eric Northman and, she is very happy being vampire. She expresses this sentiment very succinctly to Bill Compton at the end of True Blood - Season 1, when he is being made to 'make' Jessica as punishment for killing another vampire (to save Sookie, which 'The Magister' found completely irrelevant to the charge). Pam considers 'makers' god-like and admonishes Bill with disgust that he needs to fly his maker-grade colours proudly.
*Alan Ball says the biggest challenge in shooting the show is getting everything done on time. In the end, they have to scale back on or drop certain scenes altogether. "The key to it is everyone really loves working on this show," Ball insists.
* Ball admitted that Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer were able to keep their offscreen relationship a secret for a while, but then he turned to them and said: "Not as long as you thought."
* "It's not a show where you think there's a lack of imagination," Paquin tells the crowd of reporters. Both actors insist they are encouraged to pitch their own ideas for their character. "When we were down at Comic-Con, we were pitching ideas. (Vampire King of Louisiana) Bill Compton taking over the world. That sort of thing," Moyer said (maybe?) jokingly. He also wishes for Bill to visit Merlotte's more often.
* Prepare to be quoting Pam yet again on Monday morning. "Kristin's got [a line] coming up that is possibly the greatest line of all time," Moyer reveals. * Paquin is comfortable with the fact that Bill and Sookie will remain apart. "Our love in real life is fine, so I'm fine with our characters being distraught and sad," she says. "It's not interesting television if everything works out for Bill and Sookie and they adopt five babies and live happily ever after."
BRING IT ON. Mondays are hotter than ever, on SHOWTIME ®.
After explaining why in a recent post that if you enjoy award-winning, edgy comedy television why you should be tuning in to Weeds on Monday, June 27 at 10 E/ 9pm Central on Showtime, I'm going to tell you a bit about The Big C, which is also an edgy half-hour comedy starring another award-winning stage and screen actor, Laura Linney, which is premiering on Monday night, too.
The Big C directly follows Weeds on Mondays at 10:30 E/ 9:30 Central on Showtime.
Full disclosure: I started watching The Big C last year as 1. Laura Linney is amazing and 2. It followed Weeds so it was easy to just spend an hour and see two complete shows, plus 3. More and more in recent years I find myself really intrigued by Showtime's off-beat offerings.
(To put it diplomatically, I'm finding most of the television that I enjoy best on the two major premium cable channels.)
I wanted to love The Big C but after nearly half it's run, I quit watching.
I didn't dislike it exactly. There were just aspects of it that sort of struck a weird chord with me. The show after all, is a very dark comedy about a woman in her 40's who is struggling to deal with a diagnosis of Stage 4 breast cancer. That is one heavy topic to take on in any context, never mind a comedic one.
Despite my not following through, Laura Linney struck gold--a Golden Globe to be specific, as best actress in a comedy which further validates that the show had and has huge potential. The people that make the show listened to some of the feedback--both positive & negative and they responded by segueing into season 2 with a bit of a different tone.
For one, and I think it was the primary thing that I wished was different, the character of 'Cathy' who was estranged from her husband last season will help him 'grow up' this season, as Linney puts it. I've embedded cast interviews in a Weeds /Big C mash-up video selection in this post.
Her husband is played by the very likable actor (I want to say 'lug') Oliver Platt. Cathy was just so mean to him last year and though I understood why--because he's a bit thick about certain subjects--I also felt sorry for him and I felt irritated with her.
Also, at times in season 1, Cathy's attitude seemed really over-the-top, with almost a slapstick feel to some scenes. Again, Linney addresses this in the interview that Cathy's 'relationship with her cancer' is now 'evolving'. I would like to see Kathy retain the fire in her belly but express it in a somewhat less expansive/destructive way and I'm pretty sure season 2 will move more in that direction.
Finally, Cathy's decision to not seek treatment for her cancer left me feeling really unsure about her future (and thus, the future of the show). I didn't know whether to commit to it or not plus I was a bit annoyed with her that she wouldn't even try to help herself medically. This too changes in the upcoming season 2.
It's looking like there are some really strong positives to this season. First, the excellent primary cast returns (sans of course, 'Marlene'). One of the relationships I got the most enjoyment from in The Big C, season 1, was that of Cathy and her brother Sean, a homeless manic-depressive who now lives on Marlene's front lawn, across the street from Kathy.
Actor Benjamin Hickey who plays Sean, is an especially good acting match-up with Ms. Linney so this is good news.
As I mentioned before, I really enjoy Oliver Platt in his believable denseness. Women have known, and many of us are in relationships with guys like Paul. The bottom line is that he seems like a really decent chap who is hard not to like despite his foibles and it would seem in Season 2 that Cathy comes to the same conclusion.
I stopped watching before I saw much of Cathy and Paul's teenage son, Sean (played by Oliver Basso). Tonight I watched a short fan clip from The Big C with the title 'The saddest scene in The Big C,' in which Basso was the only character. (cont.)
(Above is a bit longer version of it which gives it more context).
The scene lived up to it's title as tears were streaming down my face as Cathy's son discovers that she is so sure she's not gong to be there for him in the years to come that she's bought and wrapped a storage room full of birthday, Christmas, and graduation gifts as well as a pretty, red sports car. The kid just loses it--cue audience to do the same.
To sum up, I'm sold on taking another look at The Big C in season 2 as I like what I'm hearing about it. Also, I'm totally jazzed that guest actors include Alan Alda, Parker Posey, Cynthia Nixon & Hugh Dancy.
What do you think about watching these two show? Have you been watching them both. One? None? Would you consider giving them a shot?
Showtime describes The Big C thusly:
Laura Linney returns in her Golden Globe® winning role for a new season of The Big C, the hit Showtime Original Series about living… with cancer. After spending most of season one ignoring her illness, Cathy Jamison has decided to fight back. “Bring it on,” says Cathy, as she enters an experimental clinical trial while continuing to live life to the fullest in this heartfelt and surprising comedy.

Everyone in the regular cast of True Blood here at the Dome at the Arclight Hollywood season 4 premiere event looks really nice of course, but pretty much themselves (meaning their real-life selves) except Sam Trammell ('Sam Merlotte') who, though he often has the lovely Missy Yager at his side, has not to my knowledge appeared by her side whilst she was blooming, soon to be a mother! Congrats to both of them!
This photo is just the best!

Todd Lowe 'True Blood' Season 4 Premiere: Red Carpet:
I just wanted to again note how much Todd Lowe transforms himself into the character 'Terry Bellfleuer', the shell-shocked Gulf War vet-short order cook on True Blood. "
He is one fine-looking man and I think more pics of him---maybe in his band would be really nice in addition to the MANY shots of the "big three." Love them too, but oi, they are everywhere and there are only so many poses and facial gestures they can make for variety (and it's been 4 years!) So more Todd Lowe, please?
Finally, for looking her age (early 20's) and adorable:
Iconic rock saxophonist Clarence Clemons died Saturday at age 69 of complications from a stroke, bandmate Bruce Springsteen said:
Clarence Clemons performs with Aretha Franklin on her 1985 recording 'Freeway Of Love': (VIDEO after the jump)
The story of how Bruce Springsteen and The Big Man began making history together--as told by Clarence Clemons:
One night we were playing in Asbury Park. I'd heard The Bruce Springsteen Band was nearby at a club called The Student Prince and on a break between sets I walked over there. On-stage, Bruce used to tell different versions of this story but I'm a Baptist, remember, so this is the truth.
A rainy, windy night it was, and when I opened the door the whole thing flew off its hinges and blew away down the street. The band were on-stage, but staring at me framed in the doorway. And maybe that did make Bruce a little nervous because I just said, "I want to play with your band," and he said, "Sure, you do anything you want."
The first song we did was an early version of "Spirit In The Night." Bruce and I looked at each other and didn't say anything, we just knew. We knew we were the missing links in each other's lives. He was what I'd been searching for. In one way he was just a scrawny little kid. But he was a visionary. He wanted to follow his dream. So from then on I was part of history.

Clarence Clemons' E Street Band 'Jungleland' Solo - Stockholm - June 7th 09 Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band:
Clarence Anicholas Clemons, Jr. (January 11, 1942 – June 18, 2011), also known as The Big Man, was an American musician and actor. From 1972 until his death, he was a prominent member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, playing the tenor saxophone. He released several solo albums and in 1985 had a hit single with "You're a Friend of Mine", a duet with Jackson Browne. As a guest musician he also featured on Aretha Franklin's "Freeway of Love" ...Clemons published his autobiography, Big Man: Real Life & Tall Tales, in 2009. Clemons suffered a stroke on June 12, 2011 and died due to complications from the stroke on June 18 at 69 years old.
In announcing Clarence Clemons' death, E Street Band leader Bruce Springsteen said:
"Clarence lived a wonderful life. He carried within him a love of people that made them love him. He created a wondrous and extended family. He loved the saxophone, loved our fans and gave everything he had every night he stepped on stage," Springsteen said in a statement.
"His loss is immeasurable and we are honored and thankful to have known him and had the opportunity to stand beside him for nearly 40 years. He was my great friend, my partner and with Clarence at my side, my band and I were able to tell a story far deeper than those simply contained in our music. His life, his memory, and his love will live on in that story and in our band."
Clemons played on such classic Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band hits as "Born to Run" and "Thunder Road" and is widely credited with helping to shape Springsteen's sound.
After the jump: Clarence Clemons talks about his the musical 'marriage' with Bruce Springsteen; Clemons performing with Aretha Franklin on 1985's 'Freeway Of Love':
Helena Bonham Carter's fierce fashion individuality often suggests, nay insists, that there is much more to her than just a dressed-up thespian:
Helena Bonham-Carter seems to always dress in a way that expresses exactly who she is or feels like being at any given time. She looks like she is having fun with fashion--unlike so many of her peers who look as if they are enduring wearing whatever uber-fancy outfit their stylists have chosen for them for important (read: camera-friendly) events. IMO, Bonham-Carter never looks 'thrown together,' though others have snarked about how she doesn't appear to know how to match things properly (colours, a pair of shoes, etc.).
The stark reality is that in Bonham-Carter's day job in show business she is considered 'of a certain age' and that age means far fewer film roles as each year passes. She is smart and savvy to seque into something she enjoys (dressing up) that will pay the bills (face of Marc Jacobs!)
Actress Helena Bonham Carter has joined ...Victoria Beckham, Dakota Fanning and Sofia Coppola to become the latest face of U.S label Marc Jacobs.
The choice may seem like an odd one, especially as Helena is a devoted Vivienne Westwood fan, but perhaps talks began after Jacobs dressed the actress for the SAG awards...
But her mismatched style earned her a place on the Vanity Fair Best Dressed List last year.
The Harry Potter star, 44, who counts Marie Antoinette as one of her style icons, told the New York Daily News: 'It was a triumph! ....It made me laugh because I thought it was a joke when I found out.
'But when I saw the article, I thought, "Oh, the photos they've chosen are as bad as the ones they print when I'm worst dressed."'
True Blood fan favourites Alexander Skarsgård (Eric), Kristen Bauer van Straten (Pam), and Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica) are photographed filming possibly the final episode of Season 4 of HBO's mega-hit supernatural series, True Blood in La Puente, CA on June 9th, 2011. The darkened set included bodies on the ground for the scene. True Blood season 4 debuts on HBO on June 26 on every Internet viewing device you own.*
*as long as you subscribe to HBO.
SPOILER!!!
There is no doubt, given how how far along the show is in filming season 4, that this very well could be part of the epic battle that many devoted book fans have been waiting for.
At this point, Eric has regained most if not all of his memory--defo he's remembering to use the styling gel and to forgo the unfortunate plaid shirts that he sported whilst in Sookie's care after being robbed of his memory by the witches.
**Note: In this photo set both 'Pam' and 'Jessica' are dressed similarly (combat boots, ponytails). However, their jackets are not the same--'Jess' is in leather and 'Pam' is not, for one. Can't mistake Mr. Skarsgård, tho'! :D

Showtime are certainly going to be cutting some paychecks this season for the upcoming season 6 of fantastic serial killer series 'Dexter'. Yet another new cast member Brea Grant, has joined the line-up which already includes Mos Def, Colin Hanks and Edward James Olmos. This time it's the turn of the cute 'Heroes' and 'Halloween II' star to join Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter and company. According to her brief statement on the subject (also below) she appears to be hinting that'll she be joining as one of the lab guys. From a recent release from the casting agency Masuka (played by C.S Lee) should be expecting a new intern to join him in the lab. Could this be Brea? She certainly seems like Masuka, the horndog's type - but then who isn't?
Brea had the following to say:
"No spoilers but I'm pretty sure you'll be seeing me in a white lab coat."
I really liked Brea Grant in Heroes. She was one of the few things I did like.
I missed a few important casting choices made by the Dexter showrunners over the Memorial Day/May 24 holidays for Season 6 so I'm posting them now. Since Dexter production is now underway there will be more casting news to come, I'm sure
Ausiello Spoiler(?) - Dexter Time Jump:
We may be looking at a time jump between Seasons 5 and 6. Examine the evidence: Producers are casting the recurring role of an elementary school teacher. When Season 5 ended, Dex and Rita’s son Harrison wasn’t even close to pre-school age. See where I’m going with this?
I think a time jump is smart, story-wise, and possibly rewarding in that they can use the same little guy to play Dex's son Harrison unlesss they jump ahead well, it sounds like about 4 years (?). Could be (maybe?) the casting call is slightly off and they were after a nursery-school teacher? Daycare for little Harrison sounds more 'natural' to me than a massive jump into kindergarten...if that is where they are going...but who knows, right? Speculate, speculate. Half the fun.

Thank goodness Showtime (Tweet @SHO_Dexter) used the superlatives precisely as I would have in it's official press announcement that Eddie Olmos is gonna be on Dexter!:
Mary McDonnell (Pres. 'Laura Roslin' on Battlestar Galactica and Edward James Omos ('Admiral William Adama'). They had some really great scenes together on BSG.Would have loved more.
I love this pic of the pair of them. Was (am) such a BSG fangirl!

Dexter Story Description:
One of the most acclaimed series on television, DEXTER stars Michael C. Hall (Golden Globe and SAG Award® winner) as a complicated and conflicted blood-spatter expert for the Miami police department who moonlights as a serial killer.
The show has received multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for best television drama series, as well as a prestigious Peabody Award in 2008 and was twice named one of AFI’s top ten television series. The show also stars Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Lauren Vélez, David Zayas, and James Remar.

Kind of a motley crew, no? Something looks really posed about the group shot. Ian McShane is about the only one there that is looking at all comfortable in his skin. Everyone a bit jet lagged, maybe?
Storylines are coming together for Showtime's 5th Season of the David Duchovny vehicle, Californication:
Meagan Good has joined Showtime's dark comedy Californication for a major recurring role. Good, who will appear in nine of the 12 episodes of Californication's upcoming fifth season, will play Kali, an extremely hot up-and-coming hip-hop artist.
So, from what I can piece together here, the 'slightly dangerous' rapper Apocalypse, is dating Kali when he meets Hank. Hank, in his usual fashion, cannot resist a beautiful, sexy woman (the just-cast Meagan Good) and either steals her away from Apocalypse or cheats on him with her. Either way, exciting times are again on the horizon for Hank Moody.
Californication is currently in production for it's fifth season which will premiere in September, 2011.
Previous Californication Season 5 News/Spoilers
(4.22.11)
According to TVLine Robert Fitzgerald Diggs (better known as The RZA) will play a major recurring role in season five.
His character will be called "Apocalypse" who's a hip hop mogul who Hank considers writing a movie for.
(4.12.11)
Hank's going to get a screenwriting gig working on a movie for a rap impresario named Apocalypse, Hank dates a "bangin' Carrie Bradshaw wannabe" and our beloved Becca's (Madeline Martin) getting a much older boyfriend whom you will pretty much hate.
Californication - Episode 5.01 is entitled 'JFK to LAX.'
Some big hints at where season 5 is heading, two characters on a 9 & 8 episode arc are Apocalypse and his girlfriend, Kali. Apocalypse is a slightly dangerous rapper who takes a meeting with Hank in the hope of Mr. Moody writing a movie for him. The producers want big names for this role.
Also on an 8-episode arc is Doug, a ruggedly handsome and uber-successful contractor who doesn't take any of Hank's BS.
More big news-worthy is the 8 episode arc of Tyler, Becca's boyfriend who is a cocky pretty boy with a snotty rich-kid vibe, which irks Hank.
Season Five was picked up by Showtime in January 2011. Creator Tom Kapinos suggests that the show will need to take on a new direction to stay fresh. The narrative will take place soon after Hank's bio-pic ("Fucking and Punching") has been released and his fame and fortune has reached never before seen heights. It is clear that Becca (Madeleine Martin) and Karen (Natascha McElhone) will reprise their roles as Hank's daughter and anchor-ex-fiancee, but will start the season aboard an RV trekking along on their road trip with Ben (Michael Ealy) and his daughter Pearl (Zoë Kravitz). Their role as regulars in the show may taper off this season, but they will still be pivot points to Hank's endless attraction to disaster. The romance between Marcy (Pamela Adlon) and Stu Baggs (Stephen Tobolowsky) will be further explored, as well as how that relationship is affected by Marcy's pregnancy with Charlie Runkle (Evan Handler).
What About the Holidays!?! What's Up For the Fourth & Labor Day?:
This ^^^ is putting a serious crimp in my summer plans!
Put a (blood) red X on your calendar: HBO has set the premiere date for the fourth season of True Blood. The fangtastic vampire drama returns Sunday, June 26 at 9/8c. The new season, which promises to delve even deeper into witchcraft and faeries, will once again run for 12 episodes.
The question I have is, True Blood generally skips the Sundays that fall near holidays. In this case Episode 2, which will air on July 3, (based on this announcement) falls on both the Independence Day (Monday, the 4th of July) and Canada Day (Friday, the 1st of July) weekend. Poor timing, I would think. So then, will True Blood delay it's second episode of season 4 until July 11th?
With 12 episodes to be aired, True Blood will also run into Labor Day so the second question is: Will True Blood air on Sunday, September 4, which is during the Labour Day weekend?
If True Blood skips the 4th of July and Labor Day it will literally take this summer series' finale into autumn!
The Harry Potter UKFacebook page has posted this new poster from the forthcoming final installment of the Potter franchise, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2' which shows Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) head-to-head with the Elder Wand between them.
I agree with this comment from EW (especially the 'light-and-stubble part'--very well-put! The ick factor is unmistakeably there.):
Note how the light catches Harry’s stubble… when you’re not mesmerized by Voldemort’s fingernail. I also love that they went with this strong image, with the wand at the center and the line “IT ALL ENDS 7.15″ and didn’t care that it left no room for the title of the movie....
The official Harry Potter Facebook page has been updated to include the full list of international release dates for the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II" film. To find out when the final installment of the Potter film franchise will premiere in your country, click!
You know what I love about Hollywood? (besides the many gifts that it bears for me--see photos above and below). There is no 'off-season'! Oh sure, shows like my fave Showtime show Shamelessgo on hiatus (as of tonight <sob>) but there is always something good percolating, maybe just about to be unveiled.
I, like I'm quite sure thousands, if not millions ofBattlestar Galactica (RDM) enthusiasts, have been waiting for the right project with the perfect combination of cast to look forward to settling in and being amazed by ever since BSG took it's final bow. Darned if 17th Precinct doesn't sound like it could be the very show that we've been waiting for!
I'm so excited at the prospect but totally nervous that something could get in the way of it airing... but I'm really more excited than nervous because I'm keeping a positive attitude. Tricia Helfer as 'Morgana,' a spell-casting, potion-making coronor? All of a sudden all those network procedurals sound so very dreary.
Photos: Credit to and courtesy of @trutriciahelfer (Tricia Helfer)
Tricia has signed on to play Morgana, a potion-making and spell-casting coroner in Ronald D. Moore’s NBC Pilot, 17TH PRECINCT, a supernatural-themed police drama for NBC. She’s the third BATTLESTAR GALACTICA alum to join the cast — Jamie Bamber and James Callis being the first two. Ron Moore was of course the executive producer of the re-imagined BSG series, making 17TH PRECINCT a reunion of sorts.
Also joining the cast is Stockard Channing, Matt Long and Eamonn Walker.

Mind-blowing 17th Precinct Set Photo: 'From the lady,' formerly the iconic Number 'Six on the unforgettable Battlestar Galactica (RDM) series reunion, the lovely and talented,@trutriciahelfer!
Excitement! This-is the first acting roll together that both Tricia Helfer & James Callis have had since BSG, right? I've totally been waiting for this as these two ignite one another onscreen!
It is impossible for Trica to look less than beautiful but the dark hair suits her, amping up her already impossibly high va-v-va-va-voom- factor.
Here ya go #BSG peeps. 6, Baltar, Apollo. Aka Morgana, John, Caolan.
It's an exciting Battlestar Galactica reunion from the set of Ron Moore's upcoming supernatural drama '17th Precinct,' in a new pic tweeted by none other than Number Six herself, Tricia Helfer.
We were already thrilled about our favorite BSG actors getting back together on Moore's 17th Precinct, so our squee levels were off the charts when Helfer tweeted a pic of herself and her co-stars from the set yesterday.
TriciaHelferTweet031611.jpg Standing shoulder to shoulder again, Helfer, James (Gaius "frakkin'" Baltar) Callis and Jamie (Lee Adama) Bamber took the time to reach out to their fans. Thanks, guys! We're sort of digging Tricia Helfer's brunette locks, and Callis seems rather snug between the statuesque beauty and Jamie Bamber, don't you think? (via SFX)

As hoped for, the good news arrived today: 'Shameless' has been confirmed as renewed for a second season!
This fantastic news comes on the heels of the previously-released BBC-report that Matt LeBlanc's half-hour Showtime comedy lead-in 'Episodes', was picked up for a second season as well.
Here are the details and the official Showtime announcement on the second season pick-up for Shameless and Episodes:

You can count on spending more time with the Gallagher family and “Matt LeBlanc,” now that Showtime has renewed both Shameless and Episodes for second seasons.
“The viewer loyalty and critical acclaim that has met both [these shows] since their January debuts makes it clear that these two brash and sophisticated series are burgeoning hits,” Showtime entertainment president David Nevins said in announcing the pick-ups. “[Shameless EP] John Wells is carving out a tone that is truly unique in the television landscape — equal parts drama and comedy. And Episodes marks the universally embraced and hilarious return to television of an inspired comedy triumvirate: Matt LeBlanc, and creators Jeffrey Klarik and David Crane. We are thrilled with the response to both series and eager to start planning for their second seasons.”
Shameless — which with nearly four million weekly viewers across multiple platforms is on pace to be Showtime’s second-highest rated drama series (behind Dexter) — was granted a 12-episode order for Season 2. The episode count for Episodes is at this time “TBD.”
Production on both shows’ sophomore runs will start later this year with an eye on 2012 premieres.
True Blood‘s werewolf hierarchy is about to experience a tectonic shift.
Daniel Buran is joining the HBO smash as Raoul, the werewolf packmaster of Shreveport. By my calculations, that makes him Alcide’s boss!
Buran, whose credits include appearances on CSI: NY, Criminal Minds and Southland, as well as CSI creator Anthony Zuiker’s digi-novel Level 26: Dark Origins, will appear in roughly seven episodes of TB‘s upcoming fourth season.

EDIT above/ Kristen adds a bit of detail : 'Daniel will be playing Raoul, the Shreveport packmaster. Which means he'll be above Alcide (Joe Manganiello) in terms of werewolf rank. His role is described as "tough and intense," and he'll be recurring in at least seven episodes. Raoul's first appearance will be in episode 4.05, titled "I Hate You, I Love You." Guess we'll be getting a werewolf showdown as well as a witch war this season. True Blood is back on June 12, 2011.June 26, 2011.
Well it has the greenery. Maybe the 'twinkle lights' haven't been turned on, yet? That is Sookie's faery godmother, 'Claudine,' in the foreground, BTW. (Photo credit: HBO, inc. via sookieverseblog.com)
Insiders tell E!Online that True Blood is currently shooting scenes in a stage decorated with twinkle lights and greenery that's being populated with beautiful men and women in gold body paint and robes. We're wondering if the fairy folk get as orgy-tastic as the maenad's followers once did?
Looks like True Blood has hit a home run with the casting of Daniel Buran as the Shreveport packmaster. Buran may play 'Raoul' as 'fuzzy,' but warm (other than 'blooded')? I don't think so! My guess is our ray of sunshine, Alcide and his 'boss'' are going to have a clash or two. Can't wait!
Joe Manganiello was in a perfectly cut blue suit. It appeared that he's sporting some grey in his beard. Could it be?!
Alexander Skarsgård's 2011 Golden Globe party photo intrigues me the most for the hint about his character, vampire Eric Northman, who as a rule is quite clean shaven (other than in his flashbacks of his Nordic days). Alexander appears to be boycotting the razor. Of course, it only serves to make him sexier. It also would reflect what a 'Sookie and Eric who-forgets-who-he-is storyline.'
Nelsan's awesome white cat
I'm picking up an unspoken message with the Nelsan Ellis in the white cat photo that he's hinting of 'white magic' as opposed to the darker black witchcraft or sorcery ahead for Ellis's True Blood character. 'Lafayette' found out that he and his boyfirend, Jesus (Kevin Alejandro), have previously unknown to him supernatural 'witch-like' powers.

Janina Gavankar attended looking cute and a bit fierce while miming playing Guitar Hero. Perhaps a preview of her character, shifter Luna. Gavankar she has hinted via her website (janinagavankar.com) to getting very close to Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) in fact she implied, Luna and Sam are getting hot and heavy!
Carrie Preston (Arlene) managed to look as if carrying around Guitar Hero is something she does without second thought.
Kristen Bauer van Straten just looked plain adorable. She's got fantastic skin. He hair looks fantastic, too. [Want to see her as Pam in season 4 of True Blood! NOW!]
Everyone's relative significance was put in better context when astronaut Buzz Aldrin walked by Joe Manganiello. As Joe Manganiello (Alcide, HBO's True Blood) pointed out,
"That guy was on the moon!"
Five super cool things about Buzz Aldrin:
He was the second human on the moon. He would have been the first but in the cramped quarters of Apollo 9, his commander, Neil Armstrong was closest to the door inside the compact Lunar Landing Module so it was easier for Armstrong, to be the first to exit the spacecraft!
For contributions to the television industry, Buzz Aldrin was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at Hollywood and Vine
Has a couple of doctorates, one from MIT.
The popular space ranger character Buzz Lightyear from Pixar's Toy Story movie series, is named after him, largely due to the suggestion of the film's makers that he has "the coolest name of any astronaut."
In 1979 Edwin Eugene Aldrin, Jr., (born January 20, 1930) had his name legally changed to 'Buzz.'
Kristen of E!Online's observation of Joe Manganiello's spontaneous reaction (above)
Also: More Joe and Todd Lowe nuggets on the result of the Arlene and Terry's or most likely, Arlene's and season 1's-serial-murderer's-progeny.
Creepy baby alert! It sure sounds like that's what's headed to True Blood in the coming season, if superhot(Alcide) isn't yanking our chain. ...
Another choice quote of Manganiello's was 'that if season three was the season of the werewolf, then season four is "the season of the witch." And Todd Lowe (Terry Bellefluer) (said) that, "There's a new presence in Terry and Arlene's (Carrie Preston) life."
When asked if this new presence were a baby or a monster, and Manganiello teased, "Both! Have you seen The Fly?'
IMO, the 'new darkness' on True Blood is not 'who' but more 'what.'
My feel is that Alan Ball will not whip up an entirely new big bad. One only has to look at the casting news to see that at least in part, Ball and his writers are following the Sookie Stackhouse book series (book #4). The plethora of witches, shifters, werewolves, faeries and of course, vampires has me leaning in the direction of the books in that there will be a supernatural war.
That is very much OK with me as Charlaine Harris's fourth book in the Southern Gothic series, 'Dead To The World,' is my favourite.
Q: How about some True Blood scoop? Ausiello: ... Remember last season’s legendary head-turning sex scene between Lorena and Bill? Well, the word around Bon Temps is that there’s a sequence in the upcoming fourth season that will have folks buzzing just as (if not more) loudly. The character at the center of said scene? One Jason Stackhouse.
Q: How will Alcide and Sookie’s relationship evolve this season — if at all? Will Alcide begin to develop real romantic feelings for her? Ausiello: “I think Alcide has already developed real feelings for her,” responds exec producer Alan Ball. “But there are certainly obstacles to overcome for both of them.”
Q: Any dish on the upcoming season of True Blood? A: Stephen Moyer spills, "We've got a new presence. There will be a new kind of specter that represents darkness. We had the wonderful Denis O'Hare as the king of Mississippi last year and he's [gone] at the end of season three, so we've got something else (my italics - CM) coming in to replace that darkness, which is going to be really interesting, I think, this whole new sort of topic that we haven't covered."
Guesses on who the new "darkness" will be? (see above)
[CAROLINE BELLEFLEUR] We finally get to meet the matriarch of long-time Bon Temps fixtures, the Bellefleurs.
In her 70s, Caucasian, formidable, refined, and beautifully dressed, she is Portia’s (Courtney Ford) and Andy's (Chris Bauer) grandmother who dislikes vampires but warms to Bill’s charm. Guest Star. Aww. Makes me miss 'Gran' (Lois Smith).
[EMMA] Native American / Hispanic, 6 years old to play 5 years old, happy, playful and talkative, she is the daughter of a shifter and a werewolf. Strong Recurring.
[HEAD PRIEST] Male, Hispanic, 40s to 70s, seen in a flashback to 1610, he instigates the burning of a witch at a medieval church, and he clearly takes pleasure in describing the procedure. 3 lines, 1 scene. Actor must speak Spanish.
Paola Turbay has joined HBO's drama True Blood as a recurring. She will play Antonia. We don't know much about her except for the fact that she speaks fluent Spanish and is 'fierce'. The Houston, TX-born Turbay, who moved to Colombia at age 10, is former Miss Colombia and Miss Universe runner-up. She made her U.S. series debut as a regular on CBS' Cane and has been recurring on USA's Royal Pains.
Thirty years ago: All My Children 'Jenny Gardner' w/ 'Greg" (Lawerence Lau)
Kim Delaney and Lawrence Lau as Jenny & Greg on All My Children 1983 (ABC)
Hey! That's Jenny from "All My Children"! I haven't seen seen her her since then. The years have been kind. ~Her Brother
Yep! She's gotten better looking and she always was cute. You watched All My Children? I've always sort of followed her career and she's done okay (except she's had a DUI or two. *ouch*) So here's an excuse for a bit of Jenny Gardner a/k/a Kim Delaney (who happens to have been born on my two years-old birthday (think for a sec), formerly of the soap opera AMC on American TV network, ABC.*
Update 2011: As of 2006, Kim had again entered alcohol rehab. The mid- '00's were not so great for her.
Poor, dead Jenny. Anything to get away from that drip of a husband, Greg. *shudder*
Greg Nelson (Lawrence Lau) returns to Pine Valley for Angie and Jesse's wedding. The three go to Jenny's grave... complete with flashbacks w/ Kim Delaney!
Five More Actors on True Blood Season 4 Casting List:
(12.15.10)
(Rebecca Wisocky - Photo credit : IMDb)
Rebecca Wisocky will play Queen Mab, who is described as an a 'quick-tempered leader and elegant beauty who presides over a fantasyland.'
Wisocky has been seen on stage in AMAZONS AND THEIR MEN, for which she received an Obie Award. Other stage credits include GOD'S EAR, 36 VIEWS, and SUENO. She has also been cast on 90210, The Mentalist, CSI and HBO's Big Love and will have a future engagement with the film, 'Atlas Shrugged'.
(Dane DeHaan - Photo credit : IMDb)
'In Treatment's' standout Dane DeHaan has joined HBO's vampire drama True Blood in a recurring role:
Freshman actor DeHaan, has been cast for a key guest spot in the True Blood fourth season premiere.
DeHaan (whose stage credits include THE ALIENS, AMERICAN BUFFALO, SIXTY MILES TO SILVER LAKE and END DAYS) will play Timbo, a teen looked after by Ryan Kwaten's character, Jason. The part extends DeHaan's relationship with HBO. Currently, DeHaan plays Jesse on the current season of the network's drama In Treatment.
Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte on True Blood) Photo Credit: MTV Spike TV Scream Awards
... Sam Trammell gave details about 'what's going to happen (to his character, early) in the new season.'
"We've been [shooting] for about two weeks. We've gotten two scripts and it's really cool. I'm really psyched about it.... And it's different—some things have happened that have changed things, so I think the viewers will be excited. Alan [Ball] likes to keep everybody on their toes.
*Sam Trammell on True Blood's upcoming Season 4*:
"It's always fun just getting the scripts and reading them, it's like...I was going to say crack cocaine but I've never had it!"
(12.14.10)
Q: True Blood S4 details?
A: Sookie's (Anna Paquin) farmhouse has been a shambles ever since Maryann (season 2) built meat sculptures in the front yard and had orgies in the back and front yards, as well as 'repainting' Sookie's murdered grandma's walls with mud (only--I hope!)...
'Insiders say they're finally repainting the house and repairing all the damage...ounds like Sookie might be settling back into domestic bliss?'*
(*From the Sookie Stackhouse books, which the show has split off from, Sookie's kitchen was set deliberately afire; after surviving that (as Sookie always does--survives for another novel) with some time going by,) Sook decides to give the old place a sprucing up. - CLM

Christina Moore, Neil Hopkins and Chris Butler have been cast in the fourth season of True Blood, TVGuide.com confirms.
Moore (MADtv, 90210) has been cast as a Texas housewife with special abilities, a recurring role. She will film her part on the HBO series while HawthoRNe,the TNT drama in which she is a regular, is on hiatus.
Both Hopkins (LOST, Skyline) and Butler (The Good Wife) will appear in multi-episode arcs.
Hopkins will play Claude, brother to Claudine, the queen of the fairies. Butler will play Emory, a conservative shapeshifter.
Intriguing screen cap photo to discuss (click to enlarge):

Here Claudine beckons Sookie. Near her is a shirtless blond man, similar to other faeires we've seen sort of milling about in the Sookie-Claudine scenes of season 3. Is that the newly-cast Neil Hopkins? He bears a resemblance. Book readers will recall Claude and Claudine were two-thirds of triplet siblings – and that Claude was described in the books as dark-haired, like his sisters. (Claude-from-the-books was also described as hating humans, gay and a popular male-stripper.)

Two New Actors Added To Season 4 Cast:
With the recent production start of Season 4 of HBO's True Blood series, the trickle of casting news is now gathering momentum.
The newest cast-ees?
First, a fellow who has already worked on True Blood, albeit not as a cast member but as a stuntman in the Season 3 installment, 'I Got a Right to Sing the Blues' ( July 25 2010). According IMDb, Brandon Molale has been cast in the first two episodes of True Blood, Season 4. Molale will play 'Officer X' in episode 4x01,'She's Not There' and will again appear in the role in True Blood episode 4x02, 'You Smell Like Dinner.' Casting in further episodes has not yet been announced.
Molale has has appeared in over 90 feature films and television shows, albeit often in non-credited, more physical roles.
Earlier on he was a football player at Fresno State University. He earned a degree in Advertising and Marketing. Molale is a self-taught guitar player and former radio disk jockey and is a football coordinator and technical advisor.
At 6'4" in height Molale joins Alexander Skargård (Eric) and Joe Manganiello (Alcide) in the cast as the really, really tall guys.
A second True Blood casting call has been answered by actor-writer-producer Randy Wayne for the part of 'Matt', also cast in True Blood episodes 1 and 2 of season 4.
According toWikipedia, Wayne is most famous for his portrayal of Luke Duke in the movie 'The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning.' Since then he has starred in numerous independent features including Dream Boy, Grizzly Park, and Foreign Exchange. He also portrayed 'Michael' in 'The Haunting of Molly Hartley'.

Update/ This never crossed my mind until today and by then I was sure the speculators got their hooks into it. (They have.)
Yes, 'Dexter' and 'Lumen' made a great couple in the Showtime drama "Dexter."
But do you really, really think that because of this and no other info. that the two of them are the reason for MCH (Dexter) and Jennifer Carpenter (Deb) breaking up, IRL? Really? C'os they didn't split when he married 'Rita' or when she dated the now-dead 'Agent Lundy' or, depending on the actual time frame of their romance--which we will never know--any of the other bf's 'Deb' has had in the last couple years.
Do you really believe that what is being acted out on your television is real life? If you do, you are silly and shallow. It's a possibility, sure, but are you certain Stiles isn't in a serious relationship with someone already or maybe has a 'thing' against hooking up with married guys? So many assumptions! And now of course it will be Stiles for whom every doubter looks askance and wonders,"Did she bust up the Hall-Carpenter union?
Note: In attempting to gather some solid news on the impending divorce of Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter, I came across a little bit of what may be factual info.: 'Carpenter was the one who filed for divorce,' 'Carpenter is said to have complained about MCH to castmates on the set this season. Said castmates are 'concerned' about season 6.' 'Hall and Carpenter have been 'apart' for some time now and were in general, cool toward one another for the entire filming of season 5.'
Make of it what you will but don't expect any tell-all sob stories from Hall, Carpenter or Stiles. None of them are particularly outgoing or into the H'wood scene.
I'm sure there will be a variety of reactions to this but one that springs to mind is that some of your audience just got fully comfortable with the image of you going home to your wife who plays your sister on Dexter along with mastering the ability to not think that you guys are married IRL and now. NOW you split up?!
I admit at first when Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter were in a scene together post-marriage anouncement, I'd watch for any sign that they were not acting.
This is sad news-- and after such a short go of it. I wonder what's next for the two of them and of course, the same question on everyone lips besides 'Why did they split?'
BTW, the timing on the announcement of this split is just plain weird. Whose idea was it to wait until the Dexter season 5 ended and do so within a few hours?
Will there still be a season 6 Dexter?
After nearly two years of marriage, Dexter stars Michael C. Hall, 39, and Jennifer Carpenter, 31, are divorcing. An exclusive joint statement to EW from their representatives read: “Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce.” Both reps add that the split was amicable. The couple — who met on the set of the Showtime drama, in which she plays his foster sister — married on December 31, 2008. Hall completed treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma earlier this year.

"Quinn is in trouble," Desmond Harrington says. "I think in this Sunday's episode you see a drop of blood hit my foot, and I'm definitely in trouble in [the season finale]."
Harrington can't comment whether he'll be a part of the...sixth season of Dexter, but he will say he's pretty sure there won't be a cliffhanger for Quinn(!) [Goes out boring? - CM] this season. Harrington goes on to assert in regard to Quinn's feelings for Debra:
"It's real. I think maybe early on in the year he was in this to get information on Dexter [but] that's definitely not the case now. He is actually in love with her...He definitely has softened up a lot. I honestly like that he's a little softer and basically he's fallen in love with this girl."
Quinn also seems alarmingly close to figuring out Dexter's big secret—that he is the 'vigilante' murderer Deb is hunting. That can't end in a good place...or can it?
"In terms of accepting what Dexter does," Desmond says, "honestly I don't think [Quinn] would have a problem with this idea of justice being served the way that Dexter does it…Quinn more or less has a code of his own. I feel like he is very much a cop that would go to bat for other cops. And not necessarily in the best means."
And if you like your Desmond a little darker, good news: Gossip Girl producers have asked him to reprise his role as Jack Bass around February. Dexter producers, you best bring him back...
Desmond Harrington as ' Joey Quinn': Is he going to survive season 5?
Speculation has been flying for some time now that either Desmond Harrington's 'Quinn', Deb's partner in (solving) crime as well as between the sheets, will not survive this season.
OTOH, some folks are positive that Lumen (Julia Stiles) is not going to make it out of season 5 Dexter alive. I suppose they could both get whacked.
We already know that both of them are treading in 'killer' territory, Lumen (& Dexter) with the concurrent police investigation into the guys the two of them are seeking out to revenge-kill.
Quinn's involvement with Deb whilst he deals with corrupt cop that was trailing Dexter for him is putting him in a very bad place. Bad cop Liddy (Peter Weller) has surveiled and seen so much of Lumen and Dexter that he's surely soon going to have enough evidence to get something on them.
Liddy's very unhappy that Quinn's Deb-crush is clouding his judgment enough that a high-profile case could be escaping through his fingers. He is still pursuing Lumen and Dexter and that right there is a recipe for BIG trouble.
'Dexter' renewed for 6th season
Serial killer drama is most-watched series on Showtime
Showtime is set to announce a sixth-season pickup for "Dexter."
The Michael C. Hall serial killer drama has been the pay cabler's most popular show in recent years.
Last Sunday's episode was the second most watched in series history as 2.54 million viewers checked in for the 9 p.m. telecast.
Last season's finale drew the show's biggest-ever audience, with 2.57 million viewers. All key cast members are signed through the sixth season, which will encompass 12 episodes.
But if the show runs a seventh season, Showtime will face higher costs as cast members would have to sign new contracts.

Last week, the cover of the forthcoming True Blood graphic novel, True Blood, Vol. 1: All Together Nowwas released to the delight of all Truebies with serious cravings for anything NEW 'True Blood.'
EW has now revealed a pair of covers for the second installment in the True Blood Graphic novels series (no title yet).
The plot of the second edition (which is a compilation of the next 6 issues of the True Blood comic-book series) will of course revolve around Sookie Stackhouse, whose 'world is turned upside down when contaminated bottles of Tru Blood cause the Southern Vampire population to go berserk.'
(ZOMG!)
Introduced in this next batch of comics are characters not in the first series including Jessica Hamby, Hoyt Fortenberry, Terry Bellefleur, Arlene Fowler, Jesus Velasquez, and Rev. Steve Newlin.
Speaking of the Reverend, Michael McMillian, who plays the Fellowship of the Sun leader Reverend Steve Newlin on the HBO True Blood series, is also a co-author (with Marc Andreyko) of the second series of comics.
“We wanted to make this story very vampire-centric..."
“The plot kicks off when bottles of Tru Blood are contaminated with this mysterious ingredient that makes vampires go, basically, insane,” McMillian reveals. “They go crazy. They lose sense of all sort of moral center, and they pretty much go feral and attack anything and everything in sight. What happens is they reach Bon Temps and the lips of a very beloved vampire character. Sookie and the rest of the characters are trying to figure out: Who’s behind the contamination? How can they save their friend? That’s sort of where the whole arc starts off.
... I’ve always been interested in the larger mythology of this bottled blood, that there’s a corporation behind this. (I'm thinking LOST and the Dharma Initiative--sound about right? --Cyn)
(What would happen if they had a PR disaster like the BP oil spill? ...it would be a huge disaster... What...if they have to pull bottled blood off the market? What will vampires do?... There’s (the) immediate problem of if ... Tru Blood is recalled, what are vampires going to do (and how will it affect humans)?I’m interested in the dynamics of the relationships between humans and vampires.” --Rev. Steve Newlin a/ka/ Michael McMillian, co-auther of the second installment in the True Blood Graphic novels series.)
The enthusiastic McMillian pointed out that until the Season 4 HBO True Blood series returns in Summer, 2011, this series will have to tide fans over.
“We’ve got the privilege of being the only 'True Blood' that’s available for fans before the fourth season starts up in the summer,” he said... It’s going to be really exciting and action-packed and beautiful.” (Michael McMillian)
The second True Blood graphic novel series won’t hit stores shelves until Feb. 23.11! so please feel free to preorder right here:
So, fellow Truebies: have you ever read a comic book or graphic novel? Would this series possibly pique your interest?
I do like the 'Jessica' cover version, especially the graphic style which to my eye is more literal. I can see Deborah Ann Woll and that's nice. The 'Bill' cover is good but I couldn't tell you with any certainly that the cover boy was for sure Vampire Bill-- not until I scrutinized him anyway. It's not that I mind the graphic artist following his muse. It's just easier for me to go with the story if the characters resemble the ones I'm used to seeing in the HBO series True Blood.

Jenji Kohan discusses the season six finale of Weeds.
Written By: Jenji Kohan
Directed By: Scott Ellis
Special Guest Star: Richard Dreyfuss, Demian Bichir Guest Stars: Eric Lange, Guillermo Diaz, Rick Ravanello
I'm glad Jenji Kohan addressed the giant pink elephant in the room: When the heck is Weeds gonna end? The answer? SPOILER ALERT!
'Probably next year,' as it is season 7 and everyone's contract is up and she'd like to go out on a 'high' note.
I've watched the whole series through season 6 and after one more season--that's about 6.5 hours--I'll be ready to let go.
I've already talked endlessly about why I've stuck with the show. I'll repeat: Excellent writing, superlative casting and compelling characters that have grown and changed. I'm not just talking Alexander Gould (Shane) and Hunter Parrish (Silas). Andy (the always spot-on Justin Kirk), has gone from an oversize boy to a full on father-figure. Notice he gave up the dope smoking a while back?
Both the boys, who were good from the start, turned in truly excellent performances this season. They hit every mark. And OMG--the finale. My heart broke for them.
Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker, who always has and always will totally rock) grew too. In the last moments of Episode 6x13, 'Theoretical Love Is Not Dead', instead of being the selfish c-word she's been known to be she turned completely unselfish and set everyone free. Such a sad ending.
Do you think Nancy is gonna be behind bars next season? I don't think so. For one thing, she didn't kill Pillar. And, more importanly she's Nancy Botwin. She always--somehow--lands on her feet. I'd like to see a satisfying resolution for this family that has been through so much for so long. Just landing somewhere, being able to begin again-- that would be OK with me. It's also OK if Jenji Kohan throws a little monkey wrench in things for Nancy and leaves us hanging--wondering if Nancy will ever get her shite together.
TVGuide.com: Showtime renewed the show for a seventh season. Has the network given any indication that it will be the final season? Kohan: In my mind, it is. Everyone's contract is up next year, [including] the actors and mine. Seven years is a good run, and I'd rather leave while on top. ...
TVGuide.com: How does it feel heading into what might be the end? Kohan: It's very strange and exciting and scary and sad in a lot of ways. We have such an extraordinary team. I would hope to take everyone over to [my] next project, including some of the actors, if possible. ... However, I think growth is an obligation of a writer and it's time to stretch my wings.
TVGuide.com: Do you have a clear picture in your mind of how you want the series to end? Kohan: I do, which I would never reveal. There are two versions of the end of the series that I've had in mind, and it would be figuring out which way to go.
...
TVGuide.com: Before then, will Andy (Justin Kirk) ever get his day with Nancy? Kohan: He's a very determined young man. I don't know. I think they're very afraid of ruining what they have. There's a very real potential to ruin what they have with sex. It would change everything. It's like toast: Once you're toast, you can never be bread again.
TVGuide.com: Is it too early to say redemption may be a theme of Season 7? Kohan: It's still too early to say, but I don't know if I believe in redemption. [Laughs] A mantra of the show all along has been that people don't change. I don't want to sell that out...
Based on his age now, Depp watched Dark Shadows on ABC TV at ages 3-6 or so! Explains much. ;)
architectus777 | March 31, 2008 Fan version of Johnny Depp as a zombie Vampire...
LOS ANGELES - Johnny Depp's next movie will likely reunite him with director Tim Burton for a big-screen incarnation of the gothic vampire TV soap opera "Dark Shadows." The duo's collaboration has been more than three years in the making -- Depp was obsessed with the series as a child -- but Warner Bros. has now set an April start.
Depp will portray Barnabas Collins, a vampire living in a Maine manor who is searching for his lost love.
Now that Depp has made his decision, the other projects he was flirting with will have to find new actors, unless of course they can be wrapped up by April. For example, Depp's name has been mentioned in connection with Kathryn Bigelow's "Triple Frontier" as well as with Universal's "Snow White and the Huntsman." Depp and Burton last worked together on "Alice in Wonderland," one of the year's biggest hits.
I watched Dark Shadows on the tv each day after school for a couple of years--and I was barely old enough so I hope the 3.5-years younger (June 9, 1963) Depp watched it in reruns. Doubt it, though. Depp probably watched it first run at age I dunno, Update/ 5, 3 thru 6.? He was very young for this program. Cool. Helps explain even more about him. But who was watching him?
I am a 'go' to any Depp-Burton collaboration. Always something to love about them. Long may they run.
Johnny Depp stars as an American tourist whose playful dalliance with a stranger leads to a web of intrigue, romance and danger in The Tourist. During an impromptu trip to Europe to mend a broken heart, Frank (Depp) unexpectedly finds himself in a flirtatious encounter with Elise (Angelina Jolie), an extraordinary woman who deliberately crosses his path. Against the breathtaking backdrop of Paris and Venice, their whirlwind romance quickly evolves as they find themselves unwittingly thrust into a deadly game of cat and mouse. In Theaters December 10th.
Depp returns to theaters on Dec. 12 with "The Tourist." 'The Tourist': Johnny Depp As An Ordinary Guy? - Promo Photos,Wallpapers (10.17) Trailer (10.6)
Some beautiful images here, guaranteed to make you wonder what The Tourist is about. Watching the video one cannot but be impressed at how Johnny Depp slips into the skin of this nebbishy-seeming character without effort. I mean, he looks just as Depp does--the gorgeous Johnny Depp we know and love-- yet with his gestures and vocal tone he conveys someone else completely: Frank Taylor, ordinary guy--or is he? Can't wait to find out!

Dexter S5x07
Synopsis: 'Circle Us'
While helping Lumen, Dexter finds himself on a collision course with Debra and the rest of Homicide when he is called to investigate a horrifying crime scene. Meanwhile, the Santa Muerte case leads to a violent standoff between Debra and the Santa Muerte killers.
Do things settle down for Batista on Dexter now that LaGuerta got his assault charges dropped? "Think of the history of Angel Batista," says...David Zayas (Batista).... "He's been stabbed, he's frequented prostitutes who turned out to be his girlfriend, he's married his boss, he's a survivor. I leave that answer like that."
What's coming up with the Quinn and Deb storyline? Dexter is getting hot and heavy, and it's all because of the full-fledged romance going on between Deb and Quinn. Things between these two develop quickly, and before you know it, the topic of living together will actually be broached. Hmmm, wonder what Deb will do when she finds out Quinn is going after her big bro in a big way?
Julia Stiles is great on Dexter. Are we going to keep seeing more of her?
More…and more and more. And it's pretty fantastic stuff. Dexter soon realizes that he and his new "friend" have more in common than he'd originally thought, so he agrees to take Lumen on as his "partner" and even introduces her to little Harrison. But wait, doesn't Harry's Code advise against both things?...
It was fantastic. Perfect viewing for an October 31 st evening. <grin>
I'm loving the Dexter-Lumen dynamic that is steadily being stitched together. It sort of evokes last season's Trinity-Dexter dynamic but that was in reverse (Dexter as student) and it wasn't anywhere as overt as the Dexter-Lumen relationship is becoming (also see 'spoiler' above).
Instead of Dex losing his humanity due to wife Rita's murder it is becoming apparent that the bit of humanity that has taken seed within Dexter cannot be expunged even though he does continue to purge (by killing serial killers) his 'Dark Passenger.'
Now that Dexter has recognized a dark passenger within Lumen, he sees a bit of himself reflected back at him and he, whether it breaks The Code of Harry or not, intends to help her purge her passenger-- if at possible. It may be wishful thinking or over-identification. Whatever 'it' is that is motivating Dexter to help Lumen it has gone beyond just protecting himself. I am so looking forward to more of the two of them--as well as the rest of the always pitch-perfect cast--doing what they do best.

Rick Grimes stole her bike but left her like this for awhile. Did you see the cool "making of" video for this particular actor? Very neat, like for instance though obviously CGI is needed for her missing lower half, her ribs are part of her makeup and prosthetics. See the nifty 5-minute 'making of' for this poor creature that SPOILER!!! Rick utimatelyseeks to put out of it's misery.
Story: Some time after suffering an injury during an intense shootout, police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) awakens from a coma only to find himself trapped in a new nightmare. The show is full of serious gore but zombie gore for some reason, has never bothered me, maybe because they are dead already. But what about the survivors? How 'bout this: The name of the show refers to the survivors(!)
Next week : Walking Dead

Here be some very fresh (10.31), behind-the-scenes photos of Dexter (Michael C. Hall) and Lumen (Julia Stiles) filming a segment where they seemingly return to the scene of her crime and Dexter shines his super-powerful blood-seeking light where blood traces should be and it looks like a big puddle of blood was there but has the body disappeared?! R'oh-r'oh!
Included here too is a very spoilerish promo photo which totally takes the wind of out a cliff-hanger-y scene from the official preview for this episode of Dexter, so fair warning. Thrown in are some nanny scenes (completely seperate from the crime scenes--or are they?) All I get from them is that the nanny is still uh, nanny-ing "Prince" Harry. Some people speculate she'll turn out to be evil too but so far, not happening.
PHOTO SPOILER BELOW:
Peter Weller (aka RoboCop) deserved an Emmy nomination for his guest spot in Fringe—are we going to see more of him in Dexter? Dexter is going guest star to the max! The inimitable Peter Weller returns as Quinn's (Desmond Harrington) private Doakes dick; joining him are Chris Vance (Mental, Burn Notice)as security chief for motivational speaker Jordan Chase (Eli Stone's Jonny Lee Miller). You knew Boyd's creepy "Take it now!" tapes would come back to haunt us, right?
I need to know what's going to happen with Lumen on Dexter. The tension is killing me! You're not the only one! Next week Dex finally targets a fresh kill—but as usual, things don't go smoothly. This botched attempt leads to a hilariously staged murder scene—but also a deeper, trusting relationship between Dexter and Lumen ... (10.25)

Weeds is truly a unique show with an incredibly loyal audience--that needs to grow a lot.
Why? Because Weeds is funny, real, and incredibly well-written and acted.
Up until now it has been on pay-cable but it is now FREE to you and me. In other words, they've thrown open the doors to the teeming hordes.
I like this very much because 1) I came to Weeds late in the second season and have only picked it up from the start in bits and pieces and, 2) I'm incredibly cheap frugal and prefer not to buy the DVD's as I already pay to watch the show in real time on Showtime. (I would LOVE the entire series as a gift, however.)
This has been said before but it bears repeating. "Weeds" is not about drugs. It's about a family. It is not pro-marijuana. In showing some of the potential drastic consequences of selling or possession of cannabis it could be viewed as slightly anti-marijuana (no, I'm not kidding).
Finally, above all the mom on Weeds, the completely adorable and kick-ass actress Mary Louise Parker, has never taken a toke in the almost 6 seasons Weeds has aired. She does not smoke "weed." "Nancy Botwin" has a massive coffee addiction and has been known to consume alcohol and an occasional cigarette but nope, Weeds is not a show about a Mom who smokes pot. She does however deal it and in doing so mines a great deal of humour for us the audience, to consume.
Kevin Nealon is spreading the word about National Weeds Awareness Week. TV Guide Network's week long Weeds marathon continues tonight at 9/8c.
This is 'Nancy Botwin' (Mary-Louise Parker) near the end of season 6, in episode (11?) called 'Fran Tarkenton." I have no idea why it has that title but I'm hoping to find out as it airs this coming Monday, 11.08.10 on Showtime. (showtime photo credit)
And in the interest of being fair and balanced... This is YOUR Brain on Drugs (Mmm, eggs).
The title of next week's show gives us a hint that Lumen (Julia Stiles) will again be a source of chaos in Dexter's World--one in which order and precision are usually of the highest paramount. As we observed in Dexter episode 5x05, life with Lumen combined with the aftershocks of wife Rita's murder has thrown Dexter way off his game. Again, the voice of Harry became a shout when Dexter, in his race to kill one of Lumen's thought-to-be rapists/torturers before she tried to, almost killed the wrong guy. Dexter only "heard" Harry shouting at him to "Think!" as he was about to plunge his blade into the drugged man's chest. The guy on Dex's table was despicable enough to be killed but as a serial rapist he did not meet Harry's code and had proof on his ankle that he couldn't have hurt Lumen.
The side-story with Debra and the hunt for the Santa Muerte killers is most appealing for the screen time Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) and her R-rated quips are getting. Deb and Dex are both quite damaged in their own ways. Deb gets flack for her "potty mouth" but it provides a coating of armor rather than leaving her fully exposed, as it puts enough people off so that they keep their interactions with her to a minimum or stop trying to interact with her altogether.
Due to her eff-buddy and partner in crime-solving, Det. Quinn's going against Laguerta's order to stop trying to tie Dexter to Trinity and /or Rita's murder, Debra is currently working with a rookie cop on the Santa Muerte case and the rookie is getting an earful of Debra's general demeanor--all business--no bullshit, puppy dogs or rainbows.
The Laguerta-Batista union appears evermore fragile. If you recall their reason for marrying, it was to avoid the unpleasant potential consequences of a police department romance, not because they were a "perfect fit" or the love of one another's life and so the marriage could have gone either way. As is becoming more and more clear, this marriage is going straight down the shitter. How ill-fitting the Laguerta-Batista marriage is was illustrated with this week's push me-pull you cluster**** ending up being mortifyingly embarrassing for Laguerta and resulting in yet another black mark in Batista's IAB book of bad deeds.
Finally, Masuka(!) assisted Debra in deciphering a "tattoo" that the surviving neck-slashing victim had recalled seeing on the Santa Muerte killer's hand. A trip to Michael Angelo's tattoo business, where it turns out Masuka is a regular customer (who knew?--but is anyone surprised?) of female proprietor Michael, didn't seem to help much until a sharp-eyed catch Debra made later after the encounter. Comic relief abounded in an interaction Deb had with "Michael" which double-underscored Debra's sexual-partner preferences.
I'm loving Julia Stiles as Lumen. I think it has been established very quickly that she has both a will of steel yet as a recent kidnap/rape/ torture victim is psychically as fragile as porcelain doll. I'm excited to see how this will play out as Season 5 progresses. Just look to the airport pat-down screening scene in episode 5 as Lumen was "raped" again both by the screener and by every single man that passed by during the interaction. There was a palpable feeling of claustrophobia and a need to flee. Until it was over, no one (including Lumen) knew if she'd make it through the entire process. Well played, Ms.Stiles.
A Vast, Empty Space Dexter and Debra finish packing up the house.
Dexter Season 5, Episode 6
"Everything Is Illumenated"
Trying to get his life back on track, Dexter hunts a new target, but is distracted and drawn into a precarious situation while helping his troubled acquaintance. Batista discovers an interesting lead in the Santa Muerte murder cases. Quinn learns some new information about Dexter from a questionable source.
"I would have expected more from you, Morgan."
The Taxpayer's Dime
Debra plans a stakeout based on a lead in the Santa Muerte case.
He's not your typical father, but they're not your typical family.
Chicagoan Frank Gallagher is the proud single dad of six smart, industrious, independent kids, who without him would be… perhaps better off. When Frank’s not at the bar spending what little money they have, he’s passed out on the floor. But the kids have found ways to grow up in spite of him. They may not be like any family you know, but they make no apologies for being exactly who they are.
SHAMELESS premieres on Sunday, January 9th at 10pm ET/PT.
I think Shameless looks very, very promising. The show, which took seed in a long-running counterpart/inspiration in the U.K., has a great group of characters. William H. Macy, who stars with actor/singer Emmy Rossum, has does everything from ER to the Coen brothers fantastic film"Fargo," to acclaimed stagework and a lot more. Now he tackles "Shameless, premiering Sunday, January 9th at 10pm ET/PT.
He seems a perfect chice for dad Frank!
Frank's kids in Shameless are quite a group and I've capped them so you can take a better look as well as a couple of scenes involving them and/or Frank.

With the unplanned and unwanted arrival of "Lumen," (Julia Stiles) a victim of Dexter's serial-killer victim as well as a witness to Dexter's killing of him, we see Dexter grapple with a situation for which he has absolutely no reference point to even begin to know what to do and how to go about doing it.
It was not a coincidence that the Harry "apparition" also known as "Dexter's conscience," became both contradictory in his directives, judgemental of Dex's actions and more insistent, at one point almost literally getting in Dexter's face. Harry counts off all the things that Dexter is doing wrong starting with the code-violating kill of a redneck in a rotted old building's bathroom as Dex grappled with coping with wife Rita's death (the redneck goaded him at exactly the wrong time). Now Dexter has it wrong again. Without explicitly telling Dexter to kill Lumen, Harry hints deeply that it would be a mistake to let her live.
But Lumen is a victim and we've known since day one of this show that Dexter does indeed have a soft spot for innocent victims. Why bother with the photographs of them he hangs just so each time he kills a serial killer? Yes, it is to remind the killers of their sins but it's also to honour the dead--the victims.
In Lumen, we see Dexter's Humanity struggling with his Dark Passenger. Lumen is a huge problem for him--and he's going to have to solve this problem, having failed at what Harry insists is Rule #1 of The Code of Harry: Don't get caught. Tellingly, when Dexter has this exchange with his deceased father, Dexter's recounting of the first rule is "Never harm an innocent."

"Maybe this is one problem I can check off the list..." - Dex in re: Lumen
Poor Dex. Still has so far to go in understanding, in reading people, never mind someone that is possibly more screwed up than he is.

Love. Love. Love the new feature on Showtime.com. You can see it above. Instead of me spending time making (oftentimes) fuzzy screen caps they've provided 8 HQ photo stills from upcoming episodes (or possibly just episode 5--if so, a lot is going to be happening. The ninth photo is Executive Producer Chip Johannessen, a Dexter showrunner (I believe) which may indicate that there will be an additional background video coming out before "First Blood."

QUOTEWORTHY
Alan Ball as he accepted the Best Television Show Award: "One question I get asked a lot is why do people like vampires so much, and I have no f***ing idea."
Haha. Love Alan Ball. Every time he opens his mouth what he says is quote-worthy.
Steven Moyer as he accepted "Holy Sh!t Scene of the Year" for True Blood - Twisted Sex : "I don't know what all the fuss is about. Doesn't everyone have sex like that?"
Steve is another walking quote machine. So witty. And extra super-cute without the vampire makeup.

I've been a science fiction and fantasy fan since age 4 (Twilight Zone, Outer Limits) as well as "horror" if it's done with humour (think Eric Northman of True Blood, season 2 in his dungeon going all primal on a redneck who has just "(done) silver to (him)," then immediately switching gears to consulting with the shackled and terrified Lafayette worrying if his highlights foils got blood in them, fretting that "Pam is going to kill me," so I think its fantastic that media for this genre is being singled out and recognized for excellence. I hate to complain but I have to state that SPIKE TV needs to become more inclusive about "who" is in their demographic. I've read that in the past few years the number of women enjoying the Sci-fi/Fantasy/Horror genre has skyrocketed from 10% to almost 50%. Obviously, True Blood has had a lot to do with this as well as those "other" vamp series both on film and TV (wisely labeled "fantasy" at the Spike Awards).
I never thought that science fiction or fantasy belonged to guys. I just knew that there were not too many girls with my tastes in superheroes, film and television shows. As an adult, other than once a year, I never watch SPIKE TV because they make such a whoop-de-do deal about being for guys. I think they should wise up, look at the female faces in their audience and then take the logical next step. Programming guys, are you listening? Otherwise, I'd like to see a basic cable network that already knows what the girls like, SyFy, pick up the slack and get it's own awards show going.

Nancy and Andy wait to see a pediatrician.
No one can figure out why 'Weeds' is going into its 7th season next year. It's the great cast & dialogue/With 25 minute, 12-episode seasons, it costs almost nothing to make. People still watch it. The story lines can get a bit loopy for sure but let Justin Kirk loose to do his thing, here helping Nancy and ostensibly little Stevie Ray at the pediatrician, as R/andy he argues the logic of Nancy accepting that "(I'm) the dad."

How would you describe Bellatrix? She's obviously as bonkers as they come. There's a bit of a child-like madness there. I did regress a bit as her. It sort of happened naturally. It's easy for me to go back to being a kid. You know how kids can be like savages before they get civilized? There's that sadist quality. Y'know, like boys who like to pick apart an insect for the sake of it.
And that describes Bellatrix for you? Oh yes. She's a sadist. She's very sick. She's got problems. I think she's been in prison a bit too long. But I suspect even before prison she had problems. She's a racist, obsessed with blood purity. Like Adolf. And she's in love with Voldemort, really.
In a lot of Phoenix promos, Warner has been playing up that image of Bellatrix threatening Neville Longbottom (played by Matthew Lewis) with her wand. I did something terrible. By mistake, I poked him in his ear. I thought I could brandish the wand like a sort of Q-tip, and clean out his ear. Sort of torture it. But unfortunately he moved toward the wand as I was prodding it. And it actually perforated his eardrum. Isn't that horrific? I damaged him! He's such a nice young man, he didn't admit to me that he actually had some internal bleeding about three days later.
So you didn't even know you'd injured him at the time? No. And it wasn't permanent. But there was pain, and blood. Well, torture happens. Sorry! Oops! I think I took my sadism a bit too literally.
Wow — that's an interesting bit of improv. Stupid, though! Dangerous! I did feel awful when they told me.
Did you get a chance to apologize to Matthew later, once you found out what had happened? Oh yeah. But he was deaf, so he couldn't hear me. [Laughs wildly]
(Scabior and Fenrir Greyback)
The mind boggles thinking about how much they are spending on the avalanche of this stuff...but you just know they'll be selling them and you simply must collect each one.

You should follow @actingoutlaws on Twitter: Katee Sackhoff is luring Tricia Helfer into the desert, ostensibly "to raise money for the Gulf Coast Relief Fund." I'm sure that isn't code for anything, but I'm also pretty sure Thunderdome is somewhere between LA and Louisiana.
I disagree with some of the picks and would debate on a few others but this video has cool music and a nice montage of featured Cylons from the original series through the Ronald G.Moore-era Cylons.

These promos show a distinctly different tone to Dexter (the show) this season in that both are humourous. The show has always been chock full of the darkest of dark humour but I think they timed it just right in pulling back until the third episode to allow the humour back in, so to speak. LOVE this show!

Fun TV Guide covers up top. "That" is Michael C. Hall's real hair versus the wigs he's been wearing, I believe since the end of season 4. I am so glad MCH has recovered. Don't even want to think of the the alternative...Anyway, small thing but I got wigged out at what had happened to his hair last season. At the time, he had not gone public about his cancer as he's a very, very private person, I read. However, due to being nominated for a number of awards for his performance in Dexter he showed up to the gala events during chemotherapy treatment wearing a watchman's cap. Questions (and answers) ensued. He had been in treatment during season 4 filming but the cast claims they had no idea that he was ill. Did they not notice or were they too polite to ask?

Nancy starts trouble in a small-town bar.
Weeds Season 6 Episode 8 "Gentle Puppies"
Synopsis:After acquiring an RV, Nancy lets Andy navigate the road and he leads them to Pioneer Town, a former western movie set now turned off-the-grid scab city. While Nancy attempts to get the lay of the land, she instructs the family to set up a mobile hash making shop inside the RV. Andy and Silas work on getting laundry machines while Doug and Shane try to obtain water.
And apparently from all the hype and the little video snippet here, Nancy goes to a "podunk bar" to get an itch scratched by actor Mark-Paul Gosselar who until now I have never heard of, nor do I recognize or think is particularly great-looking. Actually, none of the men Nancy has had intimate relationships with have been particularly good-looking. I thought "Conrad" (Romany Malco Jr.) was cute but she wouldn't give him the time of day I guess because he was actually a good guy and Nancy is both a narcissist and a masochist? I'm not knocking MLP because I love her but the more I see of Nancy the less I like her and the more I understand the need for likable, funny "good"Andy. He's the counterbalance to all the negativity and destruction she leaves in her wake. Maybe instead of tobacco she should start smoking some of her own product. Just a thought as she's never done so onscreen.

Wow! Are the publicity people hemorrhaging these images or what?!
Jebus! There is no way that anyone but the most devoted Muggle could ever keep up with the volume. My hard drive is sagging under the weight of all these!
So what d'ya think? (Make sure to click through--All of the Cast Promotional Posters are Hi-Res and many are super-duper big!)
One thing I can't get over is how hairy Harry is! I'm not trying to be funny. Little Harry grew up to be a very hirsute man! Another thing is when photos are blown up as big as some of these--the makeup is really evident--especially wounds. Only the guy with the severe scarring looks like he sustained the wounds. Photoshopping is really noticeable too. In the film with movement (obviously) I don't think these nitpicky things will be evident tho'.
Another observation is that there seems to be quite a mish-mash of photographers involved here--as well as at least one artist who went really, really dark. I don't think anyone is going to even be faintly surprised that HP & TDH is DARK.
Some of the production photos are awesome. For instance, the one of Ron Weasley peering around the corner of a big building in the city looked absolutely uninteresting as I saw it before but now--with a huge crew filming--it's fascinating! Harry running through the woods with a camera crew parallel to him atop what looks like train tracks about 15 feet away is pretty cool as well.
The process of lighting a scene always fascinates me. The snowy photo with a regular scene playing out in the lower 2/3's of the pic with a humongous light looming overhead is pretty spectacular, too. Take some time and click through all of them. They are full-size and worth the time!
