Michael Trucco & Tricia Helfer in 'Killer Women' pilot day 1, Texas
I think this is inspired casting! After all they were siblings (of a nature) once before. More importantly, Trucco & Helfer are biker buddies/friends offscreen; they have a connection that other actors wouldn't have. And lets face it: They are both gorgeous. I wish they'd let them smile more on BSG. Hopefully they will more in their new show!/end fangirling
(Update 3.11.13)
Before she jetted to a month-long acting gig in Texas for the pilot for Killer Women, Tricia Helfer went over her script while catching some California sunshine.
I hope this is a good show as I like Trucco and Helfer (obviously). Not aware of the rest of the cast. Hope it is good and gets a decent run.
ABC’s Killer Womenwill host a killer Battlestar Galactica reunion, now that Michael Trucco has boarded the Tricia Helfer-fronted drama pilot.
Based on the Argentine series Mujeres Asesinas, the project follows Molly Parker, the only woman among the notoriously male Texas Rangers. Described as a ballsy, beautiful badass, Molly knows how to get to the truth and isn’t afraid to ruffle a few feathers to do so.
Trucco will play Molly’s older brother, Billy, who is married to her BFF Nessa (played by Marta Milans). The actor’s recent TV credits include arcs on Revenge, How I Met Your Mother and Castle, and a co-starring role on USA Network’s Fairly Legal.
Also new to the Killer Women ensemble, which also previously cast Mark Blucas (Necessary Roughness), is Alex Fernandez (Commander in Chief), playing Molly’s coworker Luis.

Former Battlestar Galactica badass Tricia Helfer has landed the lead in Killer Women, ABC’s drama pilot about the only female in the male-dominated Texas Ranger Division, TVLine has learned.
Based on the Argentine seriesMujeres Asesinas, the project — which counts Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara among its producers — finds Helfer playing Molly Parker, a beautiful and ballsy Ranger who knows how to get the truth and isn’t afraid to ruffle a few feathers on her way there.
Hannah Shakespeare (The Playboy Club) penned the script.
Helfer’s post-BSG credits include Dark Blue, The Firm, Two and a Half Men, Criminal Minds and this week’sCommunity.
Mujeres Asesinas ("Killer Women") is an Argentine drama and suspense thriller TV series, based on an acclaimed trilogy of books of the same name by Marisa Gristein.
I have one thing to say about this: What took so long?
Tricia is not only beautiful, she's talented! When Battlestar Galactica ended I felt sure she'd be a lead or co-lead in series television in no time. I got my hopes up when she was cast in Ronald D. Moore's 17th Precinct but alas, that show was not picked up. But this project sounds like it could be a go. Keep your fingers crossed!
It's not as if Tricia has she's being sitting on her hands--she's very active in charities of many sorts and she's had some nice guest roles as well as quite a bit of voiceover work--and of course, there's auditioning. But as much as I love hearing her I want to see her, too! So this is about the best news I could ask for today. Trica Helfer is back!

APOLLO'S Famous Towel Scene from BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Episode 208: 'FINAL CUT':
"Final Cut," Battlestar Galactica While D'Anna interviews Viper pilots by their bunks, Apollo tries to introduce himself.'
Until now, fans of Jamie Bamber (Apollo On the Sci Fi Channel's Battlestar Galactica) had to make do with the awesome but short clip of Mr. Bamber almost losing his very small towel in a memorable scene from the episode "Final Cut" on the tv series "Battlestar Galactica." No more. In an effort to raise awareness of the plight of black bears killed to make the Queen's Guard's caps--it takes one whole bear to make a single cap--Jamie got naked for PETA. (scroll down)
Jamie Bamber has long been a firm favourite on the sci-fi scene, with his ever-exciting role as Lee "Apollo" Adama in Battlestar Galactica. And now he's wooing UK audiences as DS Matt Devlin in the new ITV1 drama Law and Order. There's nothing quite like fighting for justice and helping those in need – and always look really good doing it, of course!
It didn't surprise us one bit that Jamie is like that in real life too. That's why he bared his skin in PETA's newest ad to help save black bears killed for their fur. When Jamie learned how Canadian black bears are killed to make the Queen's Guards' ceremonial caps, the British-born actor jumped at the chance to help. "I initially decided to do the PETA ad because a great friend of mine in L.A., Lucy Davis, had just done a similar ad, and I love Lucy and it was a cause I didn't know about – I'll be honest. So as soon as Lucy opened my eyes, I was thrilled to join her and do my bit."

AFTER THE JUMP! Many more behind the scenes caps of Katee Sckhoff and Tricia Helfer prepping for The Acting Outlaws 2013 Calendar!
The more a celebrity such as Katee here tweets her own candid shots of herself (and, sometimes others) the LESS the need for paparazzi at all. She controls what she puts out there, smart girl.
Personally, the only time I see a need for the paps are when they have passes to shoot big events like openings and awards shows (are they even paps then--maybe they are considered real photographers?)
OMG. The abs on that man. Everyone looks terrific and happy!
Is this not the. cutest. twosome?
I love, love, love these two onscreen together! Miss them!
Would love to see both Tahmoh Penikett and Katee Sackhoff together in a super-awesome series. I could see them in a 'Friends'-like comedy/drama but better---sci-fi or not. It's entirely possible. I cannot believe smart casting peeps do not see the chemistry here?!
Some great, sort-of- recent news about Katee Sackoff:
Well, there’s one Battlestar Galactica vet who won’t be joining Ron Moore’sfrak pack-heavy NBC supernatural procedural 17th Precinct: Katee Sackhoff.
The badass formerly known as Starbuck has landed the female lead in the A&E pilot 'Longmire.' Based on the Walt Longmire Mystery series of novels by Craig Johnson, the project centers on a charismatic, dry-witted Wyoming sheriff , played by 'Matrix' actor Robert Taylor ('Agent Smith's' collegue-in-code--'till Neo killed him). Sackhoff will play 'Vic', one of his deputies.
Sackhoff is coming off a recurring role as' Det. Frankie Reed' on CSI. Also cast on Longmire, Deadline reports, are Cassidy Freeman (Smallville), as Longmire’s daughter; Lou Diamond Phillips (Numb3rs) as his best friend; and Bailey Chase (Saving Grace) as another deputy.
Update/ 4.16.11 Does anyone know if the shows have been picked up or do we have to wait until May for the anouncement? I think I read somewhere, 'Not 'till May! Boo! But yay! They are in the running!
You know what I love about Hollywood? (besides the many gifts that it bears for me--see photos above and below). There is no 'off-season'! Oh sure, shows like my fave Showtime show Shamelessgo on hiatus (as of tonight <sob>) but there is always something good percolating, maybe just about to be unveiled.
I, like I'm quite sure thousands, if not millions ofBattlestar Galactica (RDM) enthusiasts, have been waiting for the right project with the perfect combination of cast to look forward to settling in and being amazed by ever since BSG took it's final bow. Darned if 17th Precinct doesn't sound like it could be the very show that we've been waiting for!
I'm so excited at the prospect but totally nervous that something could get in the way of it airing... but I'm really more excited than nervous because I'm keeping a positive attitude. Tricia Helfer as 'Morgana,' a spell-casting, potion-making coronor? All of a sudden all those network procedurals sound so very dreary.
Photos: Credit to and courtesy of @trutriciahelfer (Tricia Helfer)
Tricia has signed on to play Morgana, a potion-making and spell-casting coroner in Ronald D. Moore’s NBC Pilot, 17TH PRECINCT, a supernatural-themed police drama for NBC. She’s the third BATTLESTAR GALACTICA alum to join the cast — Jamie Bamber and James Callis being the first two. Ron Moore was of course the executive producer of the re-imagined BSG series, making 17TH PRECINCT a reunion of sorts.
Also joining the cast is Stockard Channing, Matt Long and Eamonn Walker.
Source: Triciahelfer.com - 'Tricia Joins Ronald D. Moore’s 17th Precinct':
Thanks to Tricia Helfer for sharing this photo of herself and her former castmates on Battlestar Galactica,Jamie Bamber as Lee 'Apollo' Adama and James Callis as 'Gaius Baltar.' Tricia of course, was the sublime 'Number 6'.
Anyway, I reeeeally hope that Ron Moore's latest endeavour, 17th Precinct, described as a 'supernatural cop show' gets picked up! Trica is alluding to the wrap party for the pilot for 17th Precinct in this photo. These actors were a big part of what made BSG so magical. Can a similar magic be created once again? I sure think so! (I've been dying to see Tricia and James acting together again!) Jamie had some pretty cool scenes on BSG with Baltar as well. I've not seen him as anyone but 'Lee Adama' so checking him out in a a new role is cool with me.
Mind-blowing 17th Precinct Set Photo: 'From the lady,' formerly the iconic Number 'Six on the unforgettable Battlestar Galactica (RDM) series reunion, the lovely and talented,@trutriciahelfer!
Excitement! This-is the first acting roll together that both Tricia Helfer & James Callis have had since BSG, right? I've totally been waiting for this as these two ignite one another onscreen!
It is impossible for Trica to look less than beautiful but the dark hair suits her, amping up her already impossibly high va-v-va-va-voom- factor.
Here ya go #BSG peeps. 6, Baltar, Apollo. Aka Morgana, John, Caolan.
It's an exciting Battlestar Galactica reunion from the set of Ron Moore's upcoming supernatural drama '17th Precinct,' in a new pic tweeted by none other than Number Six herself, Tricia Helfer.
We were already thrilled about our favorite BSG actors getting back together on Moore's 17th Precinct, so our squee levels were off the charts when Helfer tweeted a pic of herself and her co-stars from the set yesterday.
TriciaHelferTweet031611.jpg Standing shoulder to shoulder again, Helfer, James (Gaius "frakkin'" Baltar) Callis and Jamie (Lee Adama) Bamber took the time to reach out to their fans. Thanks, guys! We're sort of digging Tricia Helfer's brunette locks, and Callis seems rather snug between the statuesque beauty and Jamie Bamber, don't you think? (via SFX)

Continually urged to "make out" and "show us your boobs" by a few infants that troll Ustream, Tricia gives in and gives Katee some lovin'...
P.S. A regualrarTricia n' Katee a/k/a Starbuck & Six, webcast is in the works.
Because they are on different schedules acting I'd be optimistic and set a once a month, to-be-tweeted tentative time slot.Ya'll are just gonna have to join Twitter just like Katie gave in and did for this trip.
(My bet is she'll keep at it! I folllow Tricia's and she's pretty good at it!)
Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer prep on the day they leave for The LA La Ride -- taking them 2500 miles from Los Angeles, CA to New Orleans, Louisiana.
(BTW, Katee is on CSI tonight--check your local listings.)
Katee, trying to read a fast moving stream of ustream comments reads eleven "Bichon" (dogs) as "eleven bike on." Here she reads. Trica starts to realize that ...
...the subject is ownership of 11 Bichon dogs...
Katee starts with that infectious, crazy "Starbuck" laugh...
...which sends Tricia into fits of laughter...
Pulling themselves up from the floor LITERALLY, they try to get back on track but Katee...
...keeps bursting into laughter and gets Tricia going each time. By now they are both crying ...and Katee has peed herself.
Probably some much-needed hilarity. It's still up on ustream (see links on this page). These women totally rock. Frak a TV show with Ben and Locke. Wouldn't you rather watch these two each week?
You've seen Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff both on the big and small screens. They will be rememberd for decades for their iconic portryals of Kara "Starbuck" Thrace and the cylon "Six" on Battlestar Galactica.
Here though, they are not portraying anyone.
On ustream and in their tweets Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff are for reals. Most of the time completely without makeup -- two stunning, natural beauties --what comes across even more so is their humour and great big hearts of gold.
Last night's live feed of them was hysterically funny. They are so exhausted from the trip that they are punchy--plus they have a drink or two before they broadcast. This makes for great entertainment though they never lose sight of why they are nearly killing themselves in some horrendous conditions to bring awareness to and raise money for http://www.healthygulf.organd http://www.gulffuture.organd continue to help the people and the wildlife in the gulf region who will bee affected by the BP oil spill possibly for decades.

Update 10.24.2010 /Tricia and Katee have announced that starting tonight at 8:30 p.m. when the UStream airs, folks that come up with the best or funniest questions for them (as deemed so by Katee's mom, affectionately referred to as "Mother Mary") will be rewarded with an Acting Outlaws t-shirt of your choice!
I'm really shocked that from the hundreds of thousands (millions?) of Battlestar Galactica fans that according to Katee, only 200-something of you tuned in to the UStream of Tricia Helfer's and Katee Sackoff's 2500-mile cross-country trip from Los Angeles to Louisiana, dubbed the "LAla Ride," to raise both awareness and funds to the still-devastated Gulf Region.
I'm a little irked with you so-called Battlestar Galctica fans for not supporting these beautiful, big-hearted, generous women who are quite literally risking their lives to help the Gulf which was severely damaged by the BP Oil Spill cluster**** months ago.
As Starbuck and as all of the Cylon Sixes, Katee and Tricia respectively, blossomed as actresses and helped to make BSG one of the best television shows in history. They gave a lot of themselves for your enjoyment.
Is it a lot to ask that you at least show some support of them as they make this grueling trip? Is it? I'm dealing with dial-up atm, and so just took 20 minutes to watch two minutes of the embedded video above.
Katee and Tricia are appearing live each night after being on their BMW bikes all day. Though unscripted, they are very entertaining and despite the obvious toll that all that riding through some truly awful weather and road conditions takes, they are putting in their best effort to bring a bit of this experience to you. Please tune in.

You should follow @actingoutlaws on Twitter: Katee Sackhoff is luring Tricia Helfer into the desert, ostensibly "to raise money for the Gulf Coast Relief Fund." I'm sure that isn't code for anything, but I'm also pretty sure Thunderdome is somewhere between LA and Louisiana.

OK. If I were a true-blue geek I'd have known that this character alignment chart is an idea taken from Dungeons and Dragons. But I'm not that geeky-cool, I'm just a BSG fangirl and I thought this handy-dandy chart pretty awesome.
It also gives me a chance yet again to remind all TRUE Battlestar Galactica fans that two of the women who made the show utterly unforgetttable, Tricia Helfer as "Six" and Katee Sackoff as "Starbuck" are pretty badass IRL, too. How many other ladies do you know who would climb onto their motorcycles andmake a grueling 2500-mile trip across country from Los Angeles to Louisiana, dubbed the "LA-La" trip, to help rasie awareness and funds for the sickened Gulf? It all begins on Oct 22 and culminates 10 days later...

Katee just deadlifted this bike!
Be sure to follow them @kateesackoff and @trutriciahelfer and @actingoutlaws.
Though neither own BMW bikes yet, both women are very serious about mastering the art of riding them.
I really, really, want to buy one of those t-shirts! EDIT/ Keep checking the actingoutlaws.org site as the t-shirts for men, women & babies (also fits canines, according to Katee) should be up for sale soon! Marketing peeps pls. put something together where buying one = donating to the cause! (I'm donating anyway.) Or/Also, they make donating $ super easy and only suggest $10! Go HERE: Text to donate: "FUTURE" to 85944 to donate $10 to the Gulf Future campaign for Gulf Coast recovery. http://www.healthygulf.org
(Below) Both Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff explain how they got started riding motorcycles and why they think more women should. They are quite a duo.

Have you been missing Battlestar Galactica? It's been a while since any new material from the iconic science fiction drama, a re-imagined adaption (2003-2009) of a prior series with the same name was available but thanks to La-La Land Records' new release of series composer Bear McCreary's BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE PLAN/RAZOR you may now feast your ears.
It's true. Humanity does live on in composer McCreary's offering of the soundtracks to SyFy Channel's "Battlestar Galactica: The Plan" and "Razor" [feature-length] TV events which combined, were "literally years in the making," says McCreary.
Of the many accolades bestowed upon Bear McCreary this one I think says it best: (McCreary's music) "fits the action so perfectly, it's almost devastating: a
sci-fi score like no other," (NPR).
I have felt this many times whilst listening to Bear's music scores either alone or when they are more prominent in the Battlestar series as well as other efforts of his that I continue to enjoy, currently "Caprica." Bear forges an emotional connection which is completely, uniquely his in style and substance.
The music within this well-crafted CD includes music that Bear wrote before
and after the tracks on the Season 4 Battlestar Galactica Album. Bear, as he has over the course of the Battlestar Galactica series' run, makes strong use of past character and concept themes, expanding, refining and tweaking them so a number of familiar sonic elements do bubble up (which I love) as they in effect end up as sort of bookend-companion pieces. Bear McCreary's BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE PLAN/RAZOR is yet another
another powerful offering from Bear McCreary .With almost 70 minutes of
music spread over 19 tracks, this is more than
a full-length sampling of music from both Razor and the Plan.
You'll find another instance of "bookending" done to great effect on the new CD with Apocalypse (Theme From The Plan) both beginning and finishing out the album. The final, live version which completely rocks out, barely edging out the intro Apocalypse as my favourite version (so far). I'm sure many Battlestar Galactica/Bear McCreary fans will find it completely satisfying as many folks simply could not deal with the logistics inherent in attending the Bear McCreary/Battlestar Galcatica Orchestra live gigs in Southern California held last year.
It's been noted that compared to some Battlestar Galactica CD's,The Plan/Razor has a more introspective feel overall. When I went to pick a few of my favourite tracks I realized that two of my three were from "Razor": "Attack on The Scorpion Shipyards" and the haunting "Starbuck's Destiny." Razor's music is maybe a bit more unified and seeing as though it is the story from the perspective of newbie Pegasus crewmember, Kendra Shaw, it makes sense to me that they would be slightly more interior-sounding.
The almost palpable energy and enthusiasm of the live version of "Apocolypse (Theme From The Plan)" tips the scales for me as the best of a very solid effort. (I need to see this band live!)
Check my prior reviews of some Bear McCreary's work:
This is one of two or three scenes in the Battlestar Galactica telefilm, 'The Plan' (1st aired 01.10.10 ) that I really liked. The Hybrid
remains strange and intriguing. Not human, not cylon but the heart and
brain of each basestar.
A Hybrid summarizes the Fall of the Twelve Colonies and notes all but the colony of Sagittaron.
"Progress reports arriving. The farms of Aerilon are burning. The beaches of Canceron are burning. The plains of Leonis are burning. The jungles of Scorpia are burning. The pastures of Tauron are burning. The harbours of Picon are burning. The cities of Caprica are burning. The oceans of Aquaria are burning. The courthouses of Libran are burning. The forests of Virgon are burning. The temples of Gemenon are burning. The Colonies of Man lie trampled at our feet."
Seized by God they cry for succor in the dark of the light. Mists of dreams drip along the nascent echo and love no more.
Jump.
Counting down. All functions nominal. All functions

the lap bar, please.
Apotheosis was the beginning before the beginning. Devices
on alert. Observe the procedures of a general alert. The base and the
pinnacle. The flower inside the fruit that is both its parent and its
child. Decadent as ancestors. The portal in that which passes.
Nuclear devices activated, and the machine keeps pushing
time through the cogs, like paste into strings into paste again, and
only the machine keeps using time to make time to make time. And when
the machine stops, time is an illusion we created. Free will, twelve
battles, three stars, and yet we are countless as the bodies in which
we dwell, are both parent and infinite children in perfect copies. No
degradation.
The makers of the makers fall before the child. Accessing defense system: Handshake, handshake. Second level clear.
Accepting scan. Love outlasts death.
Their ships fail, skittering like skipped stones, and
movement is meaningless in the absence of time. What never was is never

One has to wonder where she gets some of her material but she's cool just the same. Crazy cool.
Next favourite scene (that I made caps of-- there are a few more scenes that I didn't cap).
Tough-Six and Galactica-Cavil drunkenly lament on the failure of the Cylons to destroy the Fleet:
Six:You want a progress report? I'll give you a frakkin' progress report.
Cavil:Oh, no. Please don't. Please don't.
Six:Oh, come on, it is spectacular. Doral blew
himself up, causing minor damage to a minor hallway. And Boomer
jettisoned the water, and then, she personally found loads more water. (Laughing) And then she shot Adama, but not very accurately, since she loved him. And then, Leoben, he got obsessed with Kara Thrace, and then was captured and airlocked.
And my sister
Six utterly failed to discredit Baltar and his dreamy hair and
destroyed our frakkin' cover in the process.
And now Simon...Simon
killed himself, really killed himself, out of resurrection range,
without blowing up the ship that he lived on because he couldn't
imagine life without his little human wife and his little human daughter because he loves them...
Cavil:Stop, stop, stop.
Six:Guess I'd better.
Cavil:Yes. They're all letting me down.
Six:Why are they letting you down, One? What's the x-factor? (She takes the bottle) You can't declare war on love. (She leaves)
Cavil:I think I already did. Hey, where'd the bottle go?
Not compelling (or important) enough for a real name but fun to look at: "Tough Six" (Tricia Helfer).
Hard now to believe I wasthis excited 7 months ago to see the long-off Battlestar Galactica mini, ''The Plan," a recounting of the Cylon perspectives leading up to and shortly after the destruction of the 12 Colonies. It was to be as well an opportunity to get answers to some pressing questions that had were not answered in the series, leaving quite a few fans peeved.
Unlike many comments I saw at the time, my quibble wasn't a WTF? about Angel!Kara, Angel!Six or Angel!Baltar (!?!) I had but one teeny-tiny query, one that probably no longer mattered other than as the answer to a BSG trivia question.
I wanted to know who met with Caprica Six outside the Marketplace on Caprica just before the bombs fell. It was kept secret from the viewer from the miniseries' inception in 2003 through the series finale in 2009. It was a simple question to be answered and those bastard writers near series' end in Season 4 hinted enough to give it away--but one couldn't be sure until viewing The Plan and then, there it was. Yet a another scene involving Cavil or "One," the evil Cylon mastermind responsible for the destruction of the colonies. He did so, as he freely admitted, to impress the Final Five---his makers--his parents--as we found in the later BSG Season 4 episodes. Cavil's mommy issues (she told him he was damaged goods from the get-go and boy, did they illustrate that until my brain hurt in "The Plan") is ostensibly why there was "A Plan" and frankly, that is almost LOL funny, if it were not so unimaginative. Meh.
Even Cylons have issues and there are issues are aplenty in The Plan. Having had Jane Espenson pen it, how else could it have gone down?
Some Stuff you'll see or learn in "The Plan" - We see more of the Six named Shelly Godfrey and how she was coerced by (who else?) Cavil to frame
Baltar. She was airlocked--by Cavil for her efforts, solving the mystery of how she 'escaped.'
In 'The Plan' you learn that Cavil gave Boomer
her instructions while she was in sleeper mode. We see the "device"--a pocket sized wooden carved elephant used to switch her back and forth.
"Boomer's Struggle"
You see Cavil macking on both Boomer--see just below--and Six--both really creepy stuff.. Just yuck. What was wrong with Leoben or Simon!?!
Scroll quickly if you cannot bear to watch Cavil's sexual coercion of the confused and suicidal Boomer:
Despite NOT being in sleeper mode, Boomer still has to be coerced by Cavil into shooting Adama.
Bleh! Looks like a grandpa kissing a teenager.
What was wrong with Battlestar Galactica's 'The Plan?"
Start with waaay too much of this guy --#1 --a/k/a (Brother)Cavil. This was one of his better scenes as it answered for once and all, in the BSG miniseries, who did Caprica Six meet with in the Marketplace shortly after bidding Gaius Baltar goodbye--shortly before the destruction of the Colonies?

STARGATE UNIVERSE
S01xE04 "Darkness"
Dr. Nicholas Rush (ROBERT CARLYLE) has been working throughout
the night to try and determine why the ship’s power reserves are
critically low. He reiterates his mounting concerns to Colonel Young
(LOUIS FERREIRA), who advises the crew to limit their power consumption
to essential services only. Suddenly the lights dim to emergency levels
and everything but life support goes dead. Overwhelmed by fatigue and
frustration, Rush declares that all on board will perish within days.
But when Destiny’s flight path towards a solar system reveals the
existence of three planets, they hope that one of them is habitable.
Meanwhile Eli (DAVID BLUE) records individual messages from the crew in case they don’t survive.
And hey, while were at it, let's get all the Vampire Bill(Stephen Moyer) and Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) haters on board, too!
tricia helfer
Just went through all the news notes about Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning actress Anna Paquin and her brother Andrew Paquin teaming up to make a thriller called Open House. What many scribes seem to take issue with is that Anna's real-life fiance Stephen Moyer, her co-star in the HBO hit series, True Blood will also co-star with her.
The plot of the film, currently listed for release in 2010, is about a couple who discover that days after an open house one potential buyer of their luxurious home never left. Creepy!
Andrew Paquin with whom Anna owns a production company, most recently produced the romantic comedy New in Town with Renee Zellwegger. This will be his first shot at directing. Nice of his sis and future brother-in-law to get on board. Also acting in this project are Tricia Helfer (Six on Battlestar Galactica), Rachel Blanchard, Brian Geraghty, Jessica Collins, Larry Sullivan, and Gabriel Olds.
True Blood executive producer Alan Ball revealed recently that though the two romantic leads in True Blood, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, ostensibly kept their romance a secret until the end of filming True Blood's first season, Ball became aware of their intense attraction and suspected they had a thang goin' on off-set much sooner than that. He admits to having an "Oh-oh!" moment when the stars finally fessed up--by that point they were living together. He fretted that if they had a spat what would become of Sookie and Bill? He went on to say that he's since realized that they are a solid couple, he thinks their chemistry is amazing, and he's really happy for them both. Aww.
Does a slavish Battlestar Galactica fan have to explain why she'd put up a video of Tahmoh talking about his current endeavour: Former Agent Paul Ballard on FOX's Dollhouse?
I didn't think so.
I would love to see him in a scene with Summer Glau. Wonder if Joss Whedon can bring them together during Summer's three-episode arc which hopefully, is not slated to be part of the back nine?
Woo-hoo! Eddie Olmos is a smooth interviewer (and operator)! He literally snagged the mic from the San Diego interviewer and conducted a kick butt spontaneous interview with Brendan and Bear McCreary and the lovely and honey-voiced Raya Yarbrough.
Thanks to Bear's Battlestar Blog!
I imagine if you are reading this review of the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: SEASON 4 soundtrack that you are a. A Bear McCreary fan, b. A soundtrack fan, c. A Battlestar Galactica fan, or d. All three. I'm in the "d" category and so am aware of my own and many fan sentiments about the music of the iconic space drama, "Battlestar Galactica."
Even if you didn't quite "get" Battlestar Galactica the music of Bear McCreary is nothing less than epically stellar.
My personal story of how I've come back to enjoying music after a rather protracted stint where modern music didn't grab me while much of the music of my younger years <sigh> I played only when I was feeling nostalgic.
Bear McCreary is just like any other devoted Battlestar Galactica fan with one crucial difference--he is the"13th Cylon," as Jamie Bamber correctly states in
this 2-CD set's 20-Page CD booklet (which contains exclusive liner
notes from the show's cast and crew). Bamber's comments about McCreary's music made me tear up. The comments about the music of BSG.
Bear McCreary doesn't just make beautiful, wondrous, soundtrack music, his music is not confined by genre--it stands alone.
It blows my mind every time I hear "Roslin and Adama Reunited" or “The Heart of the Sun.” When the
orchestra builds to that last thunderous piece, a statement of the Colonial Anthem,
it is simply glorious, and incredibly touching.
It's been mentioned by many listeners of music from Season 4 Battlestar Galactica that a fan favourite highlight is the “Dreilide Thrace Sonata No. 1.″ It is sheer awesome (though awesome is the entire Battlestar Galactica Season 4 2-CD set). This music is Bear McCreary's statement, testament, a love song and a final goodbye by and from Bear, a showcase of the evolution of this still-youthful composer to the universe that was and is Battlestar Galactica.
There are many lovely, stirring, and jamming nuggets on the Season 4 CD including as McCreary discloses on his namesake blog, his personal favourite example of
"beautiful dissonance" in BSG called “Among the Ruins.” Yes, it is beautiful but so much more than that--stirring, innovative, primal, brilliant.
One of the most compelling characters in Battlestar Galactica was played by the unforgettable James Callis who is one of those rare actors that can convey so much with just a facial gesture. Callis can articulate a lot of truth in one paragraph as well. Of McCreary and his music, Mr. Callis' liner notes statement says:
"It would seem to me that most music on TV you don't end up craving, discussing with all and sundry as to how it affected you. It is very unusual in a drama for the music to be so compelling--compulsive--so signature. And BSG was not just another drama--but a Space Drama to boot!"
It was released on July 28 and "the album has since rocketed into the top 10 for music
sales on Amazon, and already a number of glowing reviews are popping up
online."
I agree too with SciFi Scoop that Battlestar Galactica's soundtrack was robbed of its due glory by the Emmy Award folks, however I expect from checking in with the way the set is selling out that the Emmy's have just given us another reason to look elsewhere for guidance in seeking quality material deserving of award(s).

McCreary

The first print run of Bear McCreary’s Battlestar Galactica: Season 4soundtrack
have all sold out – two weeks prior to its release! La La Land Records have put a rush on printing more, attempting to catch up with demand. I'm sure all parties are pleasantly surprised at the need to do so.
This is very exciting though in truth, not unexpected news. Bear's fans include many long-time followers of Battlestar Galactica and they are known both for their great taste and devout loyalty to the man and the series, respectively.
It's my opinion that Bear who is himself a huge BSG fan, has channelled his deep appreciation for Battlestar Galactica into the unforgettable soundtrack music he's laboured to create and if you continue reading, you'll find that he continues to perform live with the Battlestar Galactica Orchestra to sell-out crowds who share the same appreciation for Bear's music which is such an integral piece of the endeavour that was Battlestar Galactica.
Battlestar Galactica: Season 4has
been the top selling TV soundtrack for over a month on Amazon and is has
currently spent 8 days in the Top 100 Music CD’s on Amazon (and the charting arrow is pointed "up").
In other Bear news, if you are attending Comic Con in San Diego or are planning to be in the area, Bear McCreary will be there, too--for several days performing live with the Battlestar Galactica Orchestra--and on Thursday July 23 he’ll
contribute to Richard Hatch’s panel with other members of the Battlestar Galactica cast
and crew. On Friday, Saturday and possibly Sunday he will appear at
multiple signings and presentations including one at Capcom’s booth for
Dark Void.
Bear has already let slip that he's been scoring a new television project that will have it's premiere at Comic Con! It will be
the first time his score is heard publicly for the project, which has been kept top
secret.
“It’s been killing me keeping it secret,” McCreary said, “because I
know when you guys hear this soundtrack… you’re gonna explode. It’s
like Battlestar / Sarah Connor / Dark Void on steroids!”
And about that live performance during Comic Con? Are you ready for this? You can enjoy a live performance of the music from theBattlestar Galactica: Season 4soundtrack at the San Diego House of Blues on Thursday July
23rd, Friday July 24th, and Saturday, July 25th. The
performances will be hosted by Battlestar actors Edward James Olmos (Thursday) and Grace Park (Saturday) with both Olmos and Park on the Friday. There are still tickets available though I wouldn't wait much longer to get them as the venue is not a huge one. Visit the spanking new new BSG Orchestra website to learn more and while you are there stop by the forum and say hello.
Battlestar Galactica Bear McCreary with Katee Sackhoff "All Along The Watchtower" Live 6-13-2009
What a treat to see Katee Sackhoff and Bear MCreary on the piano together with that haunting little tune--All Along the Watchtower--Bear's version! Then it turns into something huge. I mean awesomely bombastic at its pinnacle. I love it! It so powerful.
What do you think of Bear McCreary and the Battlestar Galactica Orchestra live (in the video)?
Pretty great band, huh?
The Battlestar Galactica Orchestra, featuring all kinds of awesome, will tour in the US--hopefully Canada (maybe?) and possiblyinternatonally(I know for a fact Bear and Co. have a huge, dedicated fanbase overseas).
If you want to see Bear McCreary and the Battlestar Galactica band LIVE you have to make it happen by takingyour support of Bear and BGO live. If you and some friends are the real deal as far Bear and Co., in other words a real BSG fan, it's very likely I think, that you would dig seeing Bear. His music made such an impact on the show. To state what is obvious: BSG would not be the BSG we love without Bear.
One thing that always shines through when you hear a McCreary piece. It's a certain "joyful noise" made with very diverse yet instruments like bagpipes and. Learn more About the Band
I will be back later to talk more about Bear and the Orchestra and the LIVE gigs they have lined up in in San Diego at the upcoming, geek event of the year ComicCon! (which is killing me because <sob> I cannot be there.) I need to find/Make a Mary McDonnell. pic for my avatar at the Battlestar Band blog.
From Battlestar Blog -
"Bear McCreary’s score for “Battlestar Galactica” honors, absorbs and transforms the traditions of classical, popular and cultural music from around the world. Within his score, massive Japanese taiko ensembles struggle to overpower arsenals of Scottish bagpipes. The wistful strains of erhu and duduk are set against string orchestra and rock band. A lush piano sonata lulls one moment, a bluesy and distorted dobro energizes the next. Armenian text is sung gently over images of bloodshed, while Indian-inspired melodies intertwine with heavy metal."

My big Friday night television series surfathon at YouTube went very well. I caught up on the mini-preview for both the mini-series, "Razor," to air on November 24th on the American SciFi network, and saw some spoilerish series scenes from BSG Season Four! Whee!
Get your first look at the fourth and final season of Battlestar Galactica. See how the fleet deals with the four of the Final Five among them ... and what lengths they will go to just to find Earth. www.syfyportal.com
This freaked me out_completely_ especially the end! OMG!
Poor Starbuck!
This one didn't scare me as much as the Season 4 Preview with Starbuck in a cell screaming "We're going the wrong way!" That made me kind of interested in seeing much more. Now, please. ;) I just saw a little snippet of a video of a few of the key BSG players including the creative team at a big "Con" (Comic Con?) doing a panel discussion Spoiler (Shhhh! Lucy Lawless gets unboxed!) during hiatus last summer and it was mentioned by "Starbuck" that the esteemed Canadian actor, Michael Hogan, "refuses to believe that Spoiler Tigh is a Cylon!" Heh. Poor guy. He's really into the role. But it is so odd--not only the XO, but Chief Tyrol, Sam Anders and Tori.... President Laura Roslin's (Mary McDonnell) assistant. All of a sudden we've got four secret Cylons at least of two of them main characters, thrust upon us. I think if you'll pardon the expression, they are going "balls to the wall" in making the end--the fourth and final season of Battlestar Galactica. I'd be cool with that --and some DVD's in the future. :) I don't ask for much. ;) I just hope they did not blow the budget on the miniseries they made for my birthday, OK 5 days early, still-- I'll rerun it on my birthday. :)
Michelle Forbes (Maryann) Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte): Credit HBO, inc.
I admire Michelle Forbes for several reasons but none more so than her willingness to be candid about how she thinks and feels--despite criticism for making "bad" career choices. An early example of this was when she was cast as Ensign Ro Laren on the television show Star Trek: The Next Generation. Ensign Ro, a Bajoran, was well-liked by Star Trek: TNG fans who were dumbfounded when just as her role on the show was expanding Forbes feared being typecast and she bolted, leaving the Star Trek universe behind.
Michelle Forbes as Ensign Ro on Star Trek:The Next Generation
I must admit, I too was kind of peeved with her because she was darn good!
It didn't stop me from enjoying the times that I found her on the small screen. The role I enjoyed her in most (though admittedly, I've not seen quite a bit of her TV work--she's done a lot of it) was as Admiral Cain of the Pegasus on Battlestar Galactica in the telefilm "Razor" (Michelle was the razor!). She should have gotten an award for that performance which included both the film and a multi-episode arc but alas (to my knowledge), she did not.
Michelle Forbes as Admiral Cain in Razor, a SciFi BSG telefilm
Now comes True Blood and by every account I've seen she's a fan favourite. Now too comes an in-depth interview by TVGuide.com and kudos to them because they did an excellent job of getting the kind of details that fans of the show clamour for.
But Michelle being who she is went ahead and stated her feelings in the interview about "book-ies"--those of us that have read Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series which the show is based on, and some of us who expect the series to be true to the books. I would think "book-ies," who love the show but hate that it doesn't reproduce the books line-for-line are in the minority.
Just the same, Michelle using the term 'book-ies" sounds sort of like they are a little cult (kind of like Trekkies) though within context it sounds like she meant no derision. Still, but I feel a backlash coming. "Where does she get off blah, blah. Who does she think she is!? And so on.
I say let it go. Michelle plays wicked strong women who we love to watch. Offstage, she sounds like a strong woman, firm in her opinions and able to articulate them quite intelligently. For lack of better terminology you have to take the whole package. I don't think there was anything wrong with what she said to to TVGuide which was:
TVGuide.com: Were you a fan of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels?
"I'd never even heard of them. I bought them, read the first one and then put them down because we are telling our own story. For the "book-ies" out there, everyone has to remember that it's an adaptation, not a translation."
I really enjoyed reading the interview and felt I came away more enlightened about the show. A couple of my favourite quotes are below (be sure to click through to read the article in full).
How Forbes sums up True Blood:
"You have this landscape for social commentary, for questioning injustice, compassion and our pack-mentality thinking allegorically."
About Maryann being rather Zen in her outlook on life:
"She's happy; she's happier than all of us. It pisses me off actually."
About what she like the most about inhabiting Maryann as a character: ...
"... it has been liberating playing Maryann. There is a sense of contentment that was, to be honest, initially horrifying and frightening to me. She's not afraid of anything, and not in that clichéd way, she's truly just OK. She's not afraid. She can eat what she likes, she can have sex with whom she likes, she can play with whom she likes. She can dress in beautiful clothes. She has everything at her fingertips. There's nothing she doesn't need."
And quite amusingingly, she describes exactly how her wardrobe helps her channel Maryann:
"She is that Ibiza party girl. She's the girl who never left the party, but it hasn't hurt her. Those people are usually quite tragic, but she's not. She doesn't give one blink as to what people think of her. She's free of all those constraints."
And one SPOILER about just what Maryann is:
Q:So Maryann is a hybrid of some sort?
Forbes: 'Yes. With these characters, you can do as much research as you want, but you're not going to find out that vampires sometimes wear tracksuits and flip-flops.'
Battlestar Galactica Bear McCreary with Katee Sackhoff "All Along The Watchtower" Live 6-13-2009 (here they are pictured in June in LA but you get the idea.)
What a treat to see Katee Sackhoff and Bear McCreary on the piano together with that haunting little tune The Final Four Theme--then to All Along the Watchtower--Bear's version!
Beginning with Kara Remembers this moves to the Final Four Theme then to Heeding The Call, then to All Along The Watchtower. It turns into something huge. I mean awesomely bombastic at its pinnacle. I love it! So powerful.
About this :Note from Bear McCreary "Kara Thrace herself, Katee Sackhoff, joined me on stage at the grand piano to play Kara Remembers I played the left hand part, and she plucked out the Final Four Theme, just as she did in the climax of Someone to Watch Over Me. Once we had the Final Four Theme going on the piano, the band snuck in, building to Heeding the Call and finally All Along the Watchtower.

Screen shot at right: From SciFi (SyFy) Edward James Olmos (Cmr. Adama) Mary McDonnell (Pres.Laura Roslin)
Battlestar Galactica. I would have appreciated a 5-year run, instead of the 4 it got.
Watch for Tricia Helfer (Six), Michael Hogan (Saul Tigh) and Mary McDonnell (Laura Roslin) in whatever they do now. Also Mark Sheppard (Romo Lampkin) and James Callis (Gaius Baltar), if you can find him on this side of the pond. I had a big crush on Tahmoh Pennikett (Helo) who currently has a lead role on Joss Whedon's Dollhouse on Fox. He is still very cute. And cut. ;)
And you already know how great EJO (Eddie Olmos) is.
I'm going to review the 4 year-of-BSG soundtrack and I can't wait. The music with Bear McCreary at the helm, helped make the show and the show was outstanding--often.
I'm not sure that I ever shared "why" I changed the name of this blog from "Cyn City" to "Forever A Fangirl." I promise I'll try make it short.
Almost six years ago, after getting kicked off a forum where I'd been using a journal-like feature for about a year, because of SixApart's great reputation, I started a blog here. I had no idea what to call it though 6A helpfully suggested that the blog reflect an aspect of me. Frankly, it was a pretty tumultuous time and I was not quite sure "who" I was. I'd been grappling with a serious chronic health condition and the forum where I'd met some really great people and was a support system had been pulled out from under me. On a whim I went with, because my name is in fact Cyn, "Cyn City."
After Battlestar Galactica came along (A friend from the forum introduced me to it about halfway into the first season. I'm forever in his debt.) and I became a huge fan and started writing about it and eventually, other things that I got excited about--because I really do get really excited about things I dig--behaving if you will, like a fangirl, I realized that "Cyn City" no longer really reflected what this blog was about. I was amazed that the url Forever A Fangirl (dot) com was still available so I snapped it up. I doubt that this moniker will ever need a change because I don't plan to stop loving the things that I do. I'll just keep adding on more.
So Battlestar Galctica fans--are you missing the show much yet? I think I'd be OK because this would be a normal hiatus period but the knowledge that the show as we enjoyed it is gone forever does make me miss it intensely. There are several actors on BSG that I simply fell in love with and as it happens three of them will be on the up-and-coming SciFi (Syfy) network's Warehouse 13. (Tthere are three photos above of Tricia Helfer ("Six") as she appears in Warehouse 13). Michael Hogan, one of Canada's premiere telvision actors has taken the role of Warehouse 13 heroine's dad--and his real-life wife will play his wife. How cool is that? Also, Mark Sheppard, who knocked the ball out of the park as Romo Lampkin in BSG appears to have a recurring role on the new series. I love Tricia Helfer to bits and I wish she had a starring role but I'll be happy to watch her in what I hope is a recurring role as a Chicago-based FBI agent. Read on to get the full details.
Former Battlestar Galactica toasters Tricia Helfer and Michael Hogan are staying in Sci Fi's orbit, signing on to guest star on the net's new paranormal dramedy Warehouse 13 (premiering July 7). Helfer will play a Chicago-based FBI agent, while Hogan has been cast as the father of Warehouse heroine Myka (Joanne Kelly). In a fun little twist, Hogan's real-life wife, Susan, will play the role of Myka's mom. And if that's not enough BSG for you, Mark Sheppard (who portrayed the Fleet's morally flexible lawyer, Romo Lampkin) will appear as enigmatic figure who represents the organization that controls the Warehouse.
Perhaps the best way to express how great a talent Bear McCreary is is to say that Battlestar Galactica, my favourite television show of all time, which concluded its four-year run this year, would not be Battlestar Galactica without Bear McCreary's creation of it's superb scores. His style is like no other, obviously classically trained yet at times tribal-sounding, Bear qualifies the music he composed on Battlestar Galcactica as "ethnic rock-pop-classical soundtrack music."
I could fawn over Bear's signature sound but he has many. Some once you hear them, your ears will alert you to later when hearing an entirely different soundtrack. This happened during an early episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which Bear also scored."That's Bear!," I exclaimed when a hint of one of his amazing compositions seeped a tiny bit into Terminator--just long enough for me to recognize it.
Bear worked last year on scoring a miniseries, "Caprica" that is to air on the SciFi/SyFy network this fall. It has been released in DVD from and on CD it's called appropriately, "Caprica."
I've been listening to it this week and it's good. Yes absolutely, Bear pulled off his stated-upfront mission to "pay tribute to Battlestar Galactica without imitating it."
In an NPR interview with Bear, host Guy Raz said that at times Bear's work is "almost devastating."
I don't think it can be phrased better.
It can touch you that deeply. I admit to tearing up along with some of Bear's best work as well as having had my heart rate seem to pick up as Bear's soundtrack draws me in and along with him.
Bear McCreary has an uncanny sense of matching the score to a scene, though as his sold-out concerts indicate, his music stands on it's own. Many a time I've noticed a theme or two of his running through my head the day after viewing one of his shows and hearing some new pieces of his work. Now the same thing is happening after having given the Caprica soundtrack a couple of listens. It's very beautiful and it tells a story that I'm very excitedly looking forward to.
Bear's music can elevate a scene to the sublime and though he's still a young guy, he has quite a notable body of work building. Bear says in his liner-notes for the Caprica soundtrack that he hopes it will be "a seed from which the the Caprica musical universe will grow."
I'll look forward to hearing more music from Caprica after it debuts and in the meantime "Caprica," the CD will continue to be a new, amazing piece to enjoy.
To my fellow Battlestar Galactica fans, yes there are moments on Caprica where you are transported into BSG territory--usually with a very light touch, though after viewing the miniseries you'll see and hear where some of Bear's trademark sounds are very appropriate and I cannot say it enough, enhance each scene.
Bear McCreary is currently scoring the music for Galactica's series prequel, Caprica, to be aired on the SciFi (SyFy by the time it debut) Channel.

The lady at the helm of Sitrep finds the same version of Six that I found intriguing-looking to be worthy of interest. My-oh-my I was soblasé about The Plan then; now I'm drooling!
Battlestar Galactica fans were treated to 2 sneak peek videos from the Edward James Olmos produced TV movie, Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, which focuses on the invasion from the Cylon perspective. Take a look below at your first look at the upcoming flick, airing this Fall.
Frak! these have been out for days! Why did no one alert me?! Just because I deferred Twitter untiil this evening due to well life, does not mean that me missing this is OK. Because it's not!
Funny thing is I was just listening to the Caprica soundtrack (which I'm reviewing <squee!> ) and getting wistful during two tracks wherein you can hear a bit of Battlestar Galactica-like music and now these two clips come along and well, I guess it's time to break out the DVD's and get my BSG fix. I'll be back tho' to look around for better copies of these great sneak peaks.
After the jump. Director Edward James Olmos talks about the upcoming telefilm, "The Plan"
"FOX’s original science-fiction thriller movie VIRTUALITY will air for the first time on Friday, June 26 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). Headlining the cast is familiar face Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Commander Frank Pike, head of the crew of interstellar vessel Phaeton which has embarked on a 10-year voyage through space in an attempt to save a ravaged and unsustainable Earth...all before the eyes of a worldwide audience. When the crew’s cutting-edge virtual reality technology, meant to maintain their sanity on the long voyage, starts to go horribly wrong--a malevolent figure manifests itself within the program forcing Commander Pike to make a crucial decision. "
Once highly anticipated in the sci-fi world as a television pilot, VIRTUALITY is now a one-off tele-film, produced by Ronald D. Moore and Michael Taylor and directed by Peter Berg.
FOX frames "Virtuality" thusly:
The 2-hour movie raises fascinating questions about the lines/or lack thereof between reality and virtual reality.
What would you do if you were faced with the prospect of going on a 10-year space journey to another planet in order to save an Earth ravaged by global warming, food shortages and degradation? Would you be more apt to go if you had a way of slipping away into your own simulated virtual-reality to pass the time? Would you be able to distinguish this new reality from your old one? What if something started going horribly wrong on your voyage – would you turn back, even with a worldwide audience back on Earth anxiously awaiting news of their planet’s salvation? Or would you continue, uncertain of whether your own life, virtual or otherwise, was in imminent danger?
FOX has now shifted the world broadcast premiere of the two-hour sci-fi telefilm Virtuality, from Battlestar Galactica's Ronald D. Moore and Michael Taylor and director Peter Berg, from its July 4th airdate to Friday, June 26th at 8 pm ET/PT." - FOX Press release
The official description of Virtuality and the full cast list from FOX follows:

The crew of the Phaeton is approaching the go/no-go point of their epic 10-year journey through outer space. With the fate of Earth in their hands, the pressure is intense. The best bet for helping the crew members maintain their sanity is the cutting-edge virtual reality technology installed on the ship. It's the perfect stress-reliever until they realize a glitch in the system has unleashed a virus onto the ship. Tensions mount as the crew decides how to contain the virus and complete their mission. Meanwhile, their lives are being taped for a reality show back on Earth. VIRTUALITY airs Friday, June 26 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Exclusive: FOX to Air "Virtuality" Pilot on July 4
LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) --
FOX is giving viewers a holiday treat on Saturday, July 4.
Network sources have confirmed to the site exclusively that the
two-hour pilot to "Virtuality" will air on said night at 8:00/7:00c.
Co-created by Michael Taylor and Ronald D. Moore ("Battlestar
Galactica"), the sci-fi drama revolves around the crew of the Phaeton,
Earth's first starship. To endure the 10-year journey, the astronauts
use virtual reality modules which allow them to assume avatars and
explore self-created scenarios. But just as the mission is about to
enter its critical go/no-go phase, a virus begins to infect the system
and puts all of their lives on the line.
Peter Berg helmed the Universal Media Studios-based pilot and
executive produced.
FOX is so funny. They can't decide how badly they want to court television's superstar science fiction showrunners Ron Berman and Joss Whedon, so they just dither around. July 4 it is then. Have to DVR it as I might, depending on weather be at Maple Lake over the holiday weekend. -Cyn

Bottom line: It's a bleak and disturbing look at the effects of a long space trip on humans, as dark in its own way as Battlestar Galactica. It sort of reminded me of the underrated film Sunshine, in the focus on psychological drama in cramped quarters, plus the dangerous repair sequence and the fact that the ship has a hydroponic garden. But the "reality TV" aspect adds a whole extra sardonic layer to the cake.
I just realized that the television series, "Caprica" which premieres on the SyFy Channel in 2010 (though the 2-hour premiere is out on DVD any minute now), has "William Adama" as a character. The William Adama. I'm kind of annoyed with myself that I didn't make the connection but let's face it the status of Caprica was/is partially due to the writer's strike and so it was in "development hell" for 2 years. In other words, it really had no home.
Thankfully, that's all been sorted out and Caprica, which as
Battlestar Wiki points out is, "unlike most science fiction series,... a tale of our ancestors rather than our descendants" has been officially picked up by the SyFy network. As a long-time Battlestar Galactica fan I have to admit that I'm a bit hesitant about the series as the showrunners have made clear that it will not have much in common with Battlestar Galactica, starting with it's non-space setting. Certainly though, good television science fiction is welcomed and am I glad that "Caprica" was finally green-lighted.
SyFy Channel Description: "Set 50 years before Battlestar
Galactica, Caprica follows two rival families and their patriarchs
Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz) and Joseph Adama (Esai Morales) as they
compete and thrive in the vibrant world of the 12 Colonies, a society
recognizably close to our own. Enmeshed in the burgeoning technology of
artificial intelligence and robotics that will eventually lead to the
creation of the Cylons, the two houses go toe-to-toe blending action
with corporate conspiracy and sexual politics."
Series pickup
On December 2, 2008, SciFi Channel officially announced that Caprica
is picked up for a 20 episode first season. According to the press
release, production is slated to begin in the summer of 2009 and the
series is expected to begin airing in 2010. The reason for the delay is
attributed to the fact that they are attempting to regroup the core
staff that worked on the pilot and Battlestar Galactica, as these persons have since found work on other projects.
Analysis
In the finale of Battlestar Galactica, our Earth was discovered 150,000 years before the present day. Therefore, unlike most science fiction series, Caprica is a tale of our ancestors rather than our descendants.
Battlestar Wiki
Below is a link to a comprehensive review of "Caprica" by someone who has seen the entire premiere.
Quote: "The world of "Caprica" has the potential to be just as compelling,
interesting and multi-faceted as its "sequel" - minus of course the
cool (stuff) blowing up in space. In just 92 minutes, "Caprica" manages to
dish out a surprisingly dense, but not too overwhelming, array of plot
threads - the government's investigation into the attack (spearheaded
by Brian Markinson's Durham); the teens' school with potentially
sinister ties (run by Polly Walker's Sister Clarice Willow); Daniel's
business foibles; Joseph's obligations to the Tauran mob; and whatever
the STO and Zoe are ultimately up to. And that's on top of yet another
fascinating window into the Colonists battle between monotheism and
polytheism not to mention a surprising look at the demographics of the
time (Capricans are the elite while Taurans, dubbed "dirt eaters," are
the despised colony) as well as the inevitable showdown between Daniel
and Joseph over what they're doing."
The previously announced project from Starz Media,
"Spartacus: Blood and Sand," will feature the New Zealand-bred thesp,
who starred in "Xena" from 1995-2001, as the proprietor of a camp for
gladiators.
Australian thesp Andy Whitfield will play the title role.
(The) project, which goes into production in April, is set to bow on the Starz premium cabler in January, 2010.

The cast and Ron have an emotional read through of the series finale.

Battlestar Galactica
Season 4 : Ep. 22|1:36:04|
In the final episode, conflicts reach a climax while Cylons and humans face a stark choice.
I haven't watched this vid yet but the first three were pretty fun.
This was taped the day before the finale so Katee couldn't really say what she thought about how the show ended. I'm really curious to know how she truly feels about how Starbuck finished up her run with the show.
I really hope Katee finds a vehicle in which she can show off her acting chops. If you rewatch "Galactica" from the beginning it'll be obvious just how much she's grown as an actor in 5 years. Unbelievable (but true) that she was only 21 y.o when cast as Starbuck.
More later today!
There are plenty of great videos out there if you are feeling Battlestar Galactica withdrawal.
Plenty of lively discussions as well. What seems to be galling many people is the way that Starbuck simply went *poof* in her stage left exit scene on New Earth.
I have mixed feelings but the reality is the show must be taken as a whole and it was Ron Moore's show and this is the ending he wrote. Katee Sackhoff is very much alive as these videos will attest. Perhaps we should look ahead to seeing her in another vehicle soon, maybe non-horror?
Thanks to GALACTICA SITREP!
This is our four part interview with "Battlestar Galactica's",
Katee Sackhoff. Now before you watch these segments, understand that
this is more of a "hanging out" session. Katee is a fan of The Schmoes
and was cool with sitting down with Kristian and Mark... We ask some questions about Battlestar, some Nip/Tuck, Personal
questions and then the Schmoes know questions.
This episode, we
hold Katee for ransom, tell her of Kristian's knowledge of Battlestar
and Mark's lack of. So check out part 1, Katee is a really fun girl,
great actress and we had a lot of fun just goofing around with her.
In our second part of our interview with Katee, we discuss Comic-Con, Katee's stint on Nip/Tuck, future plans, her new show, Lost and Found and wearing headgear if you choose to ask her on a date.
In part 3 of our sitdown with Katee Sackhoff, The Schmoes ask her some fun questions such as "Favorite sci fi movie, sci fi character, favorite sports team and favorite reality tv show." Just a bunch of casual questions. We had a lot of fun in this interview and we are happy with all of the positive responses. Please share this video with as many people as possible. Especially BSG fans!

A firm date would be nice. I vote for the first day of fall or thereabouts- Sept 21. I'll bet it's more like in sweeps month. November?
Battlestar Galactica: The Plan
Battlestar Galactica, the series...reached
its "finale" on March 20th. But the
Sci-Fi series still has a two-hour show with a chunk of the series' cast onboard. It's an "extension" of
Battlestar Galactica series and it's due to be broadcast "this fall." The Plan is equivalent to a television film in length. Full title is Battlestar
Galactica: The Plan.” The plot will include Cylons living aboard their ships before and after the The Fall of the 12 Colonies after the Cylons nuked all of humanity except a rag-tag, ever-dwindling fleet with no home (Battlestar Galactica 2003-09).
Directed by Edward James Olmos, Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, is penned by BSG writer Jane Espenson.
EDIT/ I'm not her biggest fan as far as what she's done on Galactica. And I'm not big on EJO as director, either. I'll watch "The Plan" just to get a better look at this new Six-in-Chains. ;) (see screen cap) I'm sure there will be something good in it.
Although none of them have talked about the synopsis yet, Kate Vernon, who would in every probability play the final Cylon, Ellen Tigh, put some light on the framework of the plot. Vernon is also involved in scripting the plot.
“You’ll definitely have a few ‘ah ha’ moments. But there’s a big chunk of what’s been happening on the show that this movie will show the moments right before. You’ll get a big piece of the puzzle from ‘The Plan. It’ll just slide right into focus. The movie will open up the show for fans in a big way because there’s a giant piece missing and this will show you the bigger picture”, Kate Vernon explained.Source
Daybreak, Part 1
Battlestar Galactica
Season 4 : Ep. 21|43:46|
A call for volunteers is made for a final mission, as Galactica is stripped for parts.
One of my earlier television memories is at age 4, being flopped on the floor with my Dad in front of our black and white television set watching Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone during both shows first run. Later (of course) was Star Trek and now--now I spend far more time at this keyboard than in front of the telly.
When I look back in the years to come, Battlestar Galactica will stand beside those shows as the most memorable and deserving of repeat viewing.
I wouldn't have devoted as much time to Battlestar Galactica as I did if I were not smitten with it. Or more precisely, them. As Moore rightly pointed out the show was about the characters. I was quickly drawn to them after watching the mini-series. I think I got a girl crush on Six after about 5 minutes, Gaius Baltar the same, Roslin, Chief, Tigh, Helo and of course our heroine, Kara Thrace--all crush-worthy in short order.
Ron Moore and Co. brought the characters alive, not just through the words, not just through the use of skilled actors but through every aspect of the show from the set, the lighting--themusic. It all came together and it drew in me like no other television programming that I've watched as a adult ever has.
So, to Ron Moore and everyone that helped him to bring Battlestar Galactica alive and make believable characters that I loved and loathed (often at the same time) THANK YOU!
I feel like everyone has stated their case about why something did or did not work for them in the season finale of BSG. My jaw literally hung open for most of the first hour--it boggled my mind so. And like many events in life, I chose to remember and cherish the best of the finale instead of nit-picking through what did not work for me (though I'll mention a couple things in brief).
As a series, taken on the whole, I loved BSG. Were there episodes that
disappointed? Of course there were. Season Three--I need to rewatch it
so I can best comment on it as a whole. Season Four had two episodes
that did not at all work for me.
What worked the best for me in the second part of the Season 4 finale was:
Caprica and Gaius surprisingly (and perhaps a bit hurriedly) ending up back together (my inner fangirl is very happy they did).
I was ecstatic that Helo survived being shot, enabling him to rejoin his wife Athena and human-Cylon daughter, Hera. For many months in re: BSG's ending I've mentally bargained that if they just let Helo live I can deal with almost anything else. So I got my wish.
I loved the peaceful and dignified way that Roslin succumbed, not in a hospital bed with an IV drip but flying above the verdant "Earth" with her love, Bill Adama at her side.
I was very attached to the character of Chief and felt profoundly sorry for him at times and though I could see his logic in going off to the (Scottish) highlands to live alone, I still wished he'd found a way to stay among the rest. But there was no plausible way. Ever since he became a fully realized Cylon, the human Chief slipped further away. As he succinctly put it, "I'm just tired of people. Human. Cylon. Whatever." -- Galen Tyrol
Tory felt Chief's wrath upon his discovery of her her murder of his wife, Cally. Nice bookending of neck-snapping going from the 2003 mini series to this final episode.
I liked too that as Head Six has been proclaiming since the beginning, yes indeed, she was an angel though quite obviously not the traditional in white with wings. Though we saw much less of him I liked too that the Head Baltar was her companion, a parallel to the newly recoupled Gaius and Caprica Six. It's my blog. I'll squee if I want to.
I'm glad that after all these years of searching, of not having a home, that what was left of the "rag-tag fleet" found a habitable planet on which to live. It was a good story, well told and I'm satisfied with that. Ron Moore, David Eick, their stellar writing staff, their phenomenal ensemble cast, and their skilled production team have reinforced my love for this genre.
A couple of others summed up their opinions on BSG as well as science fiction genre-storytelling as a whole. I found them salient and I've included them below.
The series began with the
premise that the human race had been extinguished by a robot tribe, the
Cylons, it had created to enslave. The Cylons, who devoutly follow a
single god, have been understood, quite reasonably, as stand-ins for
the robotic, prescriptive aspects of religious extremism; they are
Islamic fundamentalists in one view, the politically aggressive
factions of the Christian right in another. They are literally born and
born again.
But toward the show’s finale, as the differences
between the Cylons and the remaining humans began to dissolve, the
opportunity for a more acutely contemporary symbolism emerged. It
became easier to regard the series as an argument for the imperatives
of shared interest in a post-racial world.
The series has been far more remarkable for the ways in which its
characters’ principles and value systems have evolved. Most notable has
been the change in Gaius Baltar, whose self-regarding penchant for expedience
finally gives way to a moving and incalculably consequential display of
rectitude in the final episode.
In the end, his self-serving
rationalism comes to accommodate a genuine commitment to faith, one
that seeks to resolve the show’s theological tensions, if not with the
kind of pungency one might have hoped for. The humans have been
worshiping multiple deities, but the longstanding battle between
monotheism and polytheism is irrelevant, Baltar warns his adversary in
philosophical summation.
“Whether we want to call that God or
Gods or some sublime inspiration or a divine force that we can’t know
or understand doesn’t matter,” he says. “God is a force of nature
beyond good and evil.”
Roslin’s relationship with the fleet’s military leader, Adama...one built on respect and shared sorrows and a profound inclination to
give care, has provided one of the sublime, bittersweet pleasures of
the final season. There has been no better or quieter rendering of love
in midlife on television. “Battlestar Galactica” ...has drawn the need for, and the
sustenance of, emotional connection with a nuanced and deeply felt
authenticity.
“Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to
the blinder critics and philosophers of today - but the core of science
fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation if we are to
be saved at all.” -- Isaac Asimov
Bear McCreary is the composer of the epic musical score for Battlestar Galactica. In his own blog he explained as only Bear can what went into the making of the Season 4.5 episode "Someone to Watch Over Me" and this clip gives you a feel for what he said. Be sure to click the link to Bear's Battlestar Blog and read much more about it.
On "Battlestar Galactica,"
Cylon couple Saul and Ellen Tigh manage their troubles, which range
from garden-variety marital discord to discovering they’re really
members of a robotic race, by hitting the bottle.
Often.
So with the acclaimed Sci Fi Channel drama coming to an end Friday,
the Canadian actors who portray the Tighs, Michael Hogan and Kate
Vernon, took coping cues from their small-screen alter egos.
Over cigarettes and pale ale Monday night at the Four Seasons Hotel
in Beverly Hills, Hogan said the pair was –- to use the show’s favorite
curse word –- pretty "frakked up" about it. "I don't know if I'll ever
be able to growl 'gods damnit' ever again," he said.
Vernon sipped Chardonnay and recalled how surreal it was playing
Ellen, who was "ripped" during her entire first episode. "It was
drunkalogue after drunkalogue after drunkalogue," she said.
"There seems to be this hidden supply of booze and cigarettes aboard
Battlestar Galactica. We're totally out of food, we're on the run, but
still we have booze," joked Hogan. "When Ellen came back, it was like,
thank God, we know we're going to have more booze."

From TVGuide: Who at TVGuide.com attended the Battlestar Galactica press screening on Monday night? And what's the frakkin' word? — Danny ..."we sent TVGuide.com Nerd High
Priestess Erin Fox. Once Doc Cottle revived her with smelling salts,
she said this: "The first hour-and-a-half of the finale is so intense,
you'll find it difficult to breathe. So many questions will be answered
— including some you probably thought wouldn't be addressed due to time
constraints. Also, if Mary McDonnell
isn't recognized by the Emmys this year, it'll be a frakkin' shame. She
had the crowd in tears more than once with her brilliant performance."
Erin then hugged her Cylon toaster to her chest, placed a paper bag
over her mouth and nose and breathed gently until it was safe to stand
again."
Vernon was recently revealed to be the mother of all Cylons — "I'm
the OctoCylon!" she said — and admitted difficulty letting go of the
show. She's been hosting viewing parties for the final batch of
episodes in her Sherman Oaks home for the show's Los Angeles-based cast
and crew.
"Everybody on the show was a fan," she said."I love watching with the episodes with Michael. We hold hands and go, 'Awwww.'"
When the actress learned Sci Fi Channel would be changing its name
to SyFy in hopes of appealing to a less geeky demographic, she scoffed.
"It never even occurred to me that we were shooting a science-fiction
show," she said. "Never. It's always been just good drama."
I want it to be rescheduled, rethought, removed and recalled.
Tomorrow
the story will be over, my tale having been told, and never again will
there be the sweet anticipation of waiting for the next episode to be
shown to fans and friends. The thought of it makes my heart ache even
as swells with pride.
All I know is that today there is a show called Battlestar Galactica and tomorrow there was.
There
will be joy in that too, I’m sure, touching the thread of memory and
feeling it resonate all the way back to soundstages, locations, cutting
rooms, writers’ rooms, and sound bays where I lived for all these years
and being comforted by the knowledge that a part of me will never truly
leave those places. There will be reunions and retrospectives, special
editions and extended cuts, interviews and seminars. Solace can be
found.
We’d called the last season Senior Year and here, today,
as I prepare to present the final episode to an audience of friends,
colleagues, and family, I find myself feeling the same way I did on
Graduation day at Chowchilla Union High, all those years ago. The
mosaic of faces I’d grown accustomed to seeing day after day would
regroup for one last event, one last celebration of our lives together
and what we’d done, and then it would be gone but for the transcendent
threads of memory waiting to resonant down through the years. I didn’t
want that day to happen either and fervently wished for it to be
rescheduled, rethought, removed and recalled.
Somehow I get the
feeling that today’s wish will not be granted either. So this day, like
that one, will wax and wane and all I can do is ride the wave and let
it carry me where it will.
Thank you, all of you for coming here
through the years. The shippers and the haters, and everyone in
between; you’ve watched and you’ve posted and you’ve been a touchstone
for my experience with the audience ever since that night back in 2003
when we first declared that the Cylons were created by Man and things
were going to be different. It’s been a genuine pleasure to surf your
thoughts, rants, questions, snarks, complaints, praise, and humor as
you watched our story play out and rest assured I will be here again
tomorrow poring through the posts, laughing, cursing, sometimes just
shrugging at what you take away from this crazy show.
It’s been an honor to be your storyteller.

HULU Blurb: Just when you think it's safe to let your hair grow out, here come your robot overlords.
The takeover of New Caprica was pretty intense. This 6:30 min clip pretty well sums up what went down.
Kara "Starbuck" Thrace may have the best line of the entire series relative to summing up the attitude of the Colonials. They fought until they couldn't. I'm assuming the final 90 minutes of the show will echo that sentiment.
One of things that made Battlestar Galactica a truly fine show was it's art director(s). Some of the shots are truly epic. And they were amazing at setting the tone of the series which was a dark one, yes. Tiny bits of hope dashed time and again.
I would love to see them end on a hopeful note as opposed to totally dismal. Not long to wait now.
They got the colour just right for the New Caprica takeover sequence.
I am so anxious about the showing ending tonight but I'm so glad that DVD's are an option. I still have to get S3 and of course, S4.5.
I have a "big" birthday this year. I'll ask for those and skip dinner out (Pizza for works for me, especially Chicago deep-dish style. Yum.)
Battlestar Best Cylon Kill: Cavil
Battlestar Galactica
Web Exclusive (s.4 : ep.11)|00:40|
HULU Blurb: Nobody puts D'Anna in the box.
I loved D'anna Biers (Lucy Lawless) especially after she was unboxed by "Brother" Cavil (Dean Stockwell) and while still in the Cylon bath she grabbed his neck and twisted it, rendering him dead. She then sort of tossed his body away --with one hand!-- like garbage, which it turns out he truly is. Cylon garbage. Ick.
Anyway, D'anna taking out Cavil is one of my favourite Cylon Death scenes.
I think the Best Cylon Kill scenes have to include when Cylon leader Natalie (Trica Helfer), a Six, removed the inhibitors from the Centurions (who are really coolly rendered during the rare times they are used). She essentially gave them free will and told them that Cavil was the only who wanted to keep them stupid. Then at Natalie's behest, the Centurions walked into a room of Cavils, Simons, and Dorals and shot them right up. This was post-Resurrection Hub being nuked so they were "permanent" deaths." For all of them. To her credit, Natalie tried a number of times to talk to Cavil and he was just a complete ass. Simon and Doral followed his lead, though one could make a convincing case that Doral is an ass without Cavil to lead him around by the nose and Simon seems pretty unlikeable, too.
It's from season 4.0 and I have not yet found it on Hulu but it gets played a lot because it was both shocking, fantastically executed, starred my favourite actress on the show, Trica Helfer in one of her most sympathetic incarnations of Six, and let's be honest, there was lots of CGI shooting and blood to spare. Fun times.
Oh, one more. The New Caprica long-haired Kara as a prisoner of crazy-yet-weirdly-appealing Cylon, Leoben Conoy (Callum Keith Rennie). She killed him repeatedly and he kept coming back, undeterred. I think she grew bored of what had become a sort of murder then resurrect game so in one scene she pretends to like him and he reacts by getting close enough for her to ram her steak knife into his neck. After he makes his last gurgle, Kara calmly wipes her Leoben blood-soaked hand on the carpet and uses the steak knife to cut her ...steak <gah>. Of course he comes back--but a little disappointed and even slightly annoyed. Even as a prisoner, Kara won that round and they both knew it.

HULU Blurb: Adama shows Leoben what lights out really means.
This one sort of threw me. It's from the first episode of the series. Ever wonder why Adama was so quick to believe that the Cylon before him, the thing he would normally call a "toaster," was utterly humanoid when no one else had any notion that the Cylons now "look like us?" Later in the series a young Adama shows us how he knew.
Eddie, though his character nearly got killed, sort of underplayed the scene and I think I like it that way. Even the tail end--so bloody. It was calm--if a murder can be so--when inside as an audience member I'm totally blown away. Great show.
This short clip is from S1E1 so I didn't really know what to expect but this was/is powerful. Eddie Olmos was really good and tougher than nails and Callum Keith Rennie, who over the years figured pretty prominently among the seven Cylons, was very memorable. I was so happy when he became a much more recurring character than say, the Simon or even Dorals. Very fun to watch him.
Help me out with what's happening in this week's promo. All I can tell is everyone has a gun except Laura and they have it pointed at an unknown entity. Frustrating.

"This is my first BSG fan video! It contains footage from all seasons, up through the season four episode Blood on the Scales.
I
wanted to create a video that captured some of the intensity of the
show, focusing on the characters and less on the space battles.
I
know the song choice might seem a bit obvious, but hopefully the clips
that I used and the way I edited them will help this video to stand out!"
This one is heavy on Six and D'anna and the unforgettable Admiral Cain from Pegasus. It's a nice piece. Very spirited. Thanks to augustus561.
That is Gaius and he is with the rest of the volunteer rescue group.
Seems like he's learned his way around a gun in the last few years in exile/war.
Battlestar Galactica Season 4.5 Season Final Part 2 - The Last Frakking Battlestar Galactica Special
Did you watch The Last Frakking Battlestar Galactica Special tonight? It was pretty great. A nice send-off. Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck/Kara Thrace) can't think of anything about the show that she's glad about. Then she breaks into giggles. Tricia Helfer (Six) is glad to have made friends firstly and gotten lots of work opportunities as well. She smiles a lot. They are both cute.
I'm going to watch it again as someone in my house chose to do laundry and the laundry area is really close to the teevee area. It's a small place.<grumble.> Also, the dialogue and music on the show were not synced well. (Dialogue was swimming in the score making it hard to hear every single word.)
Add to that Jamie Bamber (Lee) especially who seemed to go out of his way to be incomprehensible--though James Callis (Baltar) got difficult for certain words as well. Notably absent from the interviews in the show: Aaron Douglas (Chief). It's America guys. When you speak about yourself/your show in interviews using sound and no text* you simply must speak American for your Canadian or American audience. Mmk? Thx.
Oh yes. Unless they are frakking with us, that is Gaius (above) on the same turf as the people who volunteered on the attempted rescue mission. So I'm not supposing.
Also in the "BSG Last Frakking Special" tonight creator Ron Moore says quite plainly that Chip/Head!Six/Six in the Red Dress as well as other "Head!" characters, plus one assumes, Adama's house, were "angels," not chips (nor hallucinations).
I don't want to comment too much yet about last night's Battlestar Galactica "Part 1" of "Daybreak" as it was meant to be shown as a two-hour episode and the writer's strike and network shirts contributed to the timing of it's airing being fraked up. Just the same there were some very strong moments (above) along with the frustrating, seemingly nonsensical ones (Lee and the pigeon).
The show opens with a gorgeous zoom in from a galaxy to an Earth-like planet all the way down to "Caprica City: Before The Fall."
My heart immediately leapt into my throat.
Scene of William Adama with some official who tells him that a "desk job" interview will take but an hour of his time as Adama reluctantly complies while he ticks off where his real talents lie.
Cut to Laura Roslin, tipsy on champagne having just celebrated her "baby sister's" baby shower along with her other younger sister.
Cut to Kara nervously prepping dinner in her apartment that we recognize from Seasons previous. It turns out her guest is not Zak but Lee Adama who rings her doorbell. She invites him in and then Zak makes his appearance. it appears that Kara and Zak are living together.
Cut to Gaius Baltar in a stretch limo with Caprica Six. Apparently this is the day they first met. He has forgotten her name but it matters not as they begin to get intimate. A phone rings. He argues with the person on the line, telling them to stay where they are angrily telling them that he'll be right there.
"Right there" turns out to be a stereotypical old person house, cluttered and dog-eared. His father sits belligerently in a chair and argues with Gaius. Six stands behind Gaius and his father calls her out as a hooker. None of this seems to bother her, not even when Gaius tells her he told her to stay in the car. Gaius is in tears now. He cannot find a nurse who can tolerate his father's dangerous antics.
Cut to yet another scene of Roslin, the next day. She's awakened by her doorbell. Two police officers ask to come in. They quickly state their reason for being there: Last night on their way home both her sisters and her father(?) were killed in a bizarre car crash. In a monotone voice, Laura tells them that they can leave now. She appears to be in deep shock as she makes her way still clad in her nightgown and robe, to a public fountain and climbs into it, walking to the center where she allows the fountain to pour over her and her tears.
A scene three months later has her on the phone refusing to get involved with Adar's presidential campaign because she "hates politics" but very reluctantly agrees to a blind date (with Adar, apparently).
Cut to a drunken Lee Adama staggering in to his apartment, muttering about something. A pigeon has found it's way into his apartment and he takes a broom, attempting to shoo it out. He swears as he continues to fumble unsuccessfully.
Gaius brings a female guest to his home on the water--the one we've seen so many times. He is shocked to find Caprica Six already inside his home. He tells his lady friend to go upstairs, that he will be right there and then orders Six from his home. She seems completely nonplussed by his threats. He picks up the phone and tells her he's calling the police when she quietly discloses to him that she's taken care of his father. She's found a beautiful, upper-class old folks home where Gaius's father a former farmer, can even keep his own garden. She says when she took his father on a tour of the place he seemed happy. Gaius can only respond with his jaw hanging.
