Last we saw drug-dealing mom Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker), she was being led away in handcuffs at the airport after falsely confessing to the FBI that she killed a woman. Well, she’s still wearing the cuffs in this promotional photo for season 7, which premieres on Showtime on June 27 — and not much else. But like a clever magician’s assistant, she seems ready to slip herself loose at the first opportunity.
The Weeds countdown has begun in earnest and I for one, am quite jazzed that we again get to enjoy it over the summer, even if that means the occassional DVR-ing it. Summer TV can be more of a challenge to keep up with but the adventures of the Botwin family are pretty easy and fun to pick up, don't you think?
Weeds Casting News: Fastforward! Baby Stevie will be four years old when next we see him on Weeds, producers are seeking the particularly "focused and articulate" kids to audition for the role.
I'm both a tiny bit late and a wee bit early with my weekly Nurse Jackie post:
I drove cross-country. I'm on a coast!-- with spouse--no kids OR dogs! I'm in Maryland (instead of my home near Chicago).
I'm with spouse, my one sib. and his wife, and we are helping out my Dad with his house/ house stuff. My mom died in January and my dad will move back to the midwest when he can--but first--the house!
What did you think of Nurse Jackie episode 3.05 "Rat Falls?"
It was my favourite episode of season 3 so far because it was stuffed full of meaning and great moments and scenes.
For one, I've been wondering how Eddie and Jackie were going to proceed, post 'intervention' now that Eddie is pretty much Jackie's husband's best friend as well as her co-worker. The answer is, with caution.
Jackie panics when her stash of pills from Bill the epileptic drug dealer runs low; Coop decides to fight O'Hara for the ER chief position but learns his mothers are divorcing; Jackie confronts Eddie about his "texting" relationship with Kevin's sister.
I have not had a chance yet to talk about why, but I found my screener episode of the 'Nurse Jackie' 'Rat Falls' to be the most powerful episode of Nurse Jackie, yet this season. Don't miss it! I'm watching it again on Monday! (Somehow--I'll be in Maryland w/out cable TV but w/internet. Ooh, I know! on DVD!).
I will share more about what I loved about episode 5 after it airs, including and maybe especially it's title! and I hope you will, too.
Jackie confronts Eddie about his budding relationship with her sister-in-law.
'There is no edge Eddie, OK? There's no edge.'
Jackie declining an offer from Eddie for a 'little something to take the edge off.'
Coop's Mothers tell him that they are getting a divorce.
Weeds - Season 7! Mary-Louise Parker is back in an all new season of Weeds:
'Well. When you put it that way I sound just awful!' - 'Nancy Botwin' to 'FBI interrogator'
So sorry about labelling my previous Weed's promo video post as 'Weeds: Season 6,' when it correctly is: Weeds: Season 7.' I got it mixed up with Doctor Who Series 6. My bad. All fixed. (Cyber-gods willing.)
(Goes to a photo album (mature) page on this site not this blog.)
"If you know me, it's like, someone sneezes and I take my clothes off. I'm naked in Esquire in August. I was naked on the set the other day. I'm always naked. I'm naked right now, in fact." - Mary Louise Parker (2009)
'The Wrestler' star as well as the vampire queen 'Sophie-Anne LeClerq' on HBO's True Blood opened up about her sexuality during a magazine interview. Asked whether she dates women as well as men, Wood answered in the affirmative. She added, "I'm into anything… meet a nice guy, meet a nice girl…"
Wood has been in and out of a relationship with rocker Marilyn Manson, including an engagement to marry, since age 19. They are not currently together, however.
Wood's fellow actor and co-star in HBO's True Blood, Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse), revealed her own bisexuality about a year ago.
Alexander Skarsgård as Eric Northman in True Blood Season 4 (pre-amnesia):
So far, this is the best promo for True Blood Season 4, yet. Finally, a bit of story to chew on, not just quick scenes adding up to zilch. Smartly, I think, Alan Ball & Co. are broadly fleshing out for us what to expect in Season 4--especially showing some more of the more of brand new (Marnie) and nearly brand new (Jesus, Holly) characters--witches all-- in action.
The witches circle when over-lit like I made the screen-caps in order to see detail look pretty, idk cornball? Cheesy? But I imagine the (award-winning) set folks put together a replica of what real witches do.
In the stark light it looks cheesy, in the darkness with candles and all it looks pretty neat.
Oh My Goodness!, some pretty screen-caps came out of this behind-the-scenes preview/promo/trailer!
EDIT 4.17 (Yes, I do have a screener)/ Just watched it! Excellent episode!:
Nurse Jackie Season 3, Episode 4: 'Mitten' (Promo):
Jackie finds a new hiding place for her pills and buries the hatchet with O'Hara, who becomes ER chief; Zoey works her first double shift; Kevin invites Eddie to a backyard barbecue; Jackie must tell more lies to retrieve her misplaced stash.
'Dance-Off' with Coop
Coop (Peter Facinelli) wants to stage a 'Dance-Off' in order to chose who will become All Saints new ER Chief. Here, he makes his case before Akalitus (Anna Deavere Smith).
He defines super-creepy and after taking him for coffee ('Walk with me'), Jackie finds that he is 'despicable' as well. He isn't there to harm Jackie though or even demand his $12,000 worth of pills she took from him. Rather, he's facinated by her life as a (hard-core, functioning) drug addict. He discloses that he is there to send her into a tailspin. fueled by copious quantities of drugs--which he'll provide-- then charge her to get cleaned up (as he's been doing for the people who he now dismisses as 'lightweights').
Jackie is not ready for this fix but wants to know, 'Hypothetically, how far am I from bottoming out?', she queries the ex-drug-counselor.
He indicates that she's very, very far.
Jackie looks relieved.
She has spent most of the opening episodes of season 3 looking worried and now at least she believes she can scratch off both this guy and her drug abuse as 'real' problems.
The lies we tells ourselves.
(This season of 'Jackie' feels like its moving really fast.)
The more a celebrity such as Katee here tweets her own candid shots of herself (and, sometimes others) the LESS the need for paparazzi at all. She controls what she puts out there, smart girl.
Personally, the only time I see a need for the paps are when they have passes to shoot big events like openings and awards shows (are they even paps then--maybe they are considered real photographers?)
OMG. The abs on that man. Everyone looks terrific and happy!
Is this not the. cutest. twosome?
I love, love, love these two onscreen together! Miss them!
Would love to see both Tahmoh Penikett and Katee Sackhoff together in a super-awesome series. I could see them in a 'Friends'-like comedy/drama but better---sci-fi or not. It's entirely possible. I cannot believe smart casting peeps do not see the chemistry here?!
Some great, sort-of- recent news about Katee Sackoff:
Well, there’s one Battlestar Galactica vet who won’t be joining Ron Moore’sfrak pack-heavy NBC supernatural procedural 17th Precinct: Katee Sackhoff.
The badass formerly known as Starbuck has landed the female lead in the A&E pilot 'Longmire.' Based on the Walt Longmire Mystery series of novels by Craig Johnson, the project centers on a charismatic, dry-witted Wyoming sheriff , played by 'Matrix' actor Robert Taylor ('Agent Smith's' collegue-in-code--'till Neo killed him). Sackhoff will play 'Vic', one of his deputies.
Sackhoff is coming off a recurring role as' Det. Frankie Reed' on CSI. Also cast on Longmire, Deadline reports, are Cassidy Freeman (Smallville), as Longmire’s daughter; Lou Diamond Phillips (Numb3rs) as his best friend; and Bailey Chase (Saving Grace) as another deputy.
Update/ 4.16.11 Does anyone know if the shows have been picked up or do we have to wait until May for the anouncement? I think I read somewhere, 'Not 'till May! Boo! But yay! They are in the running!
I LOVED this part of 'Deathly Hallows.' IMO, it was one of the high points of the book, 'Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows.'
Maybe I'll re-read it at Maple Lake this summer in my first two-week stint. My guess it will be playing somewhere up in the woods of Haliburton.
Hey. I just read that even though the Canadian Loonie has been kicking the American dollar exchange-wise for 4 years going now, the Canadians have to pay 20% more on most everyday and other stuff they buy, than their American counterparts. Not fair or justified, right?
This also means that vacationing in Canada has been no bargain for some time now--nothing is. (The article forgot to mention though that the Ontarians at least pay themselves better salaries than one would get in the U.S.).
An example of this occurs nas you are not even fully into Canada, as you cross the border into Canada on the Ambassador Bridge going from Detroit, Michigan, USA to Windsor, Ontario, CA. There's always been around a 20% more fee to get into the U.S. from Canada. (But Canada to the U.S. the same, I think?)

Remainder of article and more scanned photos after the jump!
(I would have scanned all the phot0s but the paper is so thin that the 'B' side of the page bleeds through. Credit to EW.com is in the link.)
Pretty freaking exciting, huh? This cool pic of Neville (after jump) brought back the memory of reading the passage in the book. Neville shows what he's really made of (hint: strong stuff) and it actually gave me a bit of a lump in my throat. This was I'm certain in part due to coming to know the character through the actor Matthew Lewis, who has been portraying him throughout the film series. It's a feel-good moment coloured with a great deal of sadness...can't wait to see it!
Check out the first advance peek clip from HOMELAND, a new one-hour SHOWTIME drama which begins production this summer:
Showtime has picked up a new series from the writers of 24. In HOMELAND, starring Claire Danes, a POW returns home from Iraq and is welcomed by everyone as a hero. But a certain CIA officer is willing to risk her job and her life to prove that he's a terrorist plant.
Check out the first advance peek clip from HOMELAND, a new one-hour SHOWTIME drama which begins production this summer. It will be produced by FOX 21.
HOMELAND is a psychological thriller starring Claire Danes. It tells the story of 'Carrie Anderson,' (Danes), a CIA officer battling her own demons, who becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to the rescue of 'Scott Brody' (Damian Lewis), a U.S. soldier who had been missing and presumed deal for nine years, was a setup and may be connected to an Al-Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil.
Mandy Patinkin plays 'Saul', a veteran CIA Division Chief who is Carrie’s boss and mentor.

Based on 'leaked' set reports, True Blood should be entering the near-halfway point of filming Season 4 about now. Depending on how the season is rolling along this could be the definitive point for the season 4 story arc to catch on--or for it to simply keep going with thrills n'chills but no overarching fantastic mystery-story which, now that I'm well into re-watching Season 1, I've realized has been one of the weakest points--since the end of the superawesome Season 1--about getting the 'Sookie Stackhouse Southern gothic mysteries' transformed into True Blood episodes.
In Season 1 True Blood, there was a great deal 'unknown' to both the audience and most interestingly, the characters. Then of course was the overarching theme/question: Who is killing the fangbanging women of Bon Temps?
By Season 2, True Blood had hired on the fantastic Michelle Forbes as villainess 'Maryann,' the Dionysian disciple with voracious tastes, including for orgies. Barkeep/shifter Sam Merlotte as well as the audience, knew who was responsible so it was it was almost no mystery from the get-go 'who' had the town of Bon Temps at her beck and call--literally under her spell. (What happened to Lafayette at the Dumpster & his subsequent 'thing' with Eric/ in Eric's dungeon? was not meant to--nor did it carry the season.)
Season 3? Let's see: Who kidnapped Bill? I can't remember when we knew--episode 2?--and by eppy four Sookie knew--so the mystery was???
Bill's Civil War maker, 'Lorena' (Mariana Klaveno) had a hand in his kidnapping.
I'm not a True Blood 'bookie':
Not even comic books:
Sidenote: Does anyone know? Are the stories told in the comic books 'True Blood' canon?
I heard that comic book stuff would be things that 'happened offscreen' but the plots so far have sounded nothing like the show. So are the True Blood 'graphic novels' officially considered part of the True Blood story--or not?
In fact, after book four, I struggled to get through Charlaine Harris's best-selling tomes, but I agree with the bookies that show creator Alan Ball needs to do something to make his stories compelling and certainly to re-introduce the mystery element, which with the supernatural element (including Sookie Stackhouse herself) is the very foundation of the book series. A foundation, one would suppose that would at least help build up the True Blood storylines.
I'm not on 'Team' anyone except perhaps Team: Good Television.
Alan Ball has got to make Season 4 True Blood really count, notwithstanding the crushing expectations of the legions of Erik Northman (Alexander Skaragård) fans.
I truly hope though that Ball & Co. are not writing for the fans be they bookie or non-bookie (or graphic novelites for that matter) for that will surely doom the show.
Clearly, its high time for them to call Ghostbusters!
Terry (Todd Lowe) comes upon a couch-sleeping Arlene (Carrie Preston) & her kids only to look up and see a child-like scrawl on the wall: '(The) Baby (is) not yours.'
Today would have been my mother's 84th birthday. She passed away on January 12 of this year:
Mom at Ocean World late 1970's
Peggy didn't make a big deal out of her birthday--but she did other people's. On April 9th she'd acknowledge that yes, it was her birthday but also her niece Patti as well as (now my memory fails me) deceased dear friend from childhood. It was their birthday, too. She was really, really good at remembering birthdays and anniversaries and such.
I've been sifting through the mountainous pile of photographs in my mother's collection trying to cull the most suitable for her remembrance service at Maple Lake this August 25.* Most of them are from a time before I was born so though they are indeed photos of Peggy, they are not pics of the woman I knew as 'Mom.' This one is however very much how I remember my mother.
Notice the camera on her wrist? Ubiquitous when we went somewhere. :)
*Tentatively--still need to firm it up
The photos here are but a fraction of the many my mother took (there are a few exceptions--obviously, the ones with her in them, for example). My mom loved to shoot snapshots of her family and friends. I remember sometimes getting impatient for her to hurry up and get it over with. I was shortsighted where she was not. I will be forever grateful to her for preserving memories that would otherwise be lost to us. On January 12 of this year my mom died at the age of 83. She spent a great deal of time with my Dad at Maple Lake so we will have a remembrance gathering at Maple Lake for her on Wednesday, August 25, 2011. We still have many photographs from her collection to sort through and we have her to thank for the privilege of doing so.
Nurse Jackie 3.03: Play Me: 'God' sets up a makeshift piano bar in the ambulance bay:
Kevin's sister gives Jackie her support.
Episode 3: Play Me: 'God' sets up a makeshift piano bar in the ambulance bay.
Synopsis:
Kevin's younger sister 'Tunie,' visits after a breakup with her boyfriend; Lenny prepares a surprise romantic picnic for Zoey; two street vendors are brought in after a turf war turns violent; Akalitus fights Catholic bureaucrats over the hospital's chapel.
Have you been watching Nurse Jackie?
I thought episode two sort of slowed down and took a needed breath after the 'hit the ground-running' start of eppy 1 picking up exactly where it left off at the end of season 2.
Jackie (Edie Falco) was as close as contrite as we are going to see her towards both husband Kevin and best friend O'Hara. Both were at the receiving end of a fiercely angry Jackie after they attempted an intervention on her behalf. In Kevin's (Dominic Fumusa) case, Jackie turned the (well-founded) accusations he made on their head by muddying the waters with excuses about buying name-brand meds for their children and then mixing in Kevin's insistence that they could not afford to have both their girls go to private school. Jackie played him by guilting him--and successfully took the spotlight off herself. Kevin knows something went wrong but still seems sort of shell-shocked by the whole ordeal. Meantime, Jackie is being super-nice and overtly affectionate, neither of which she was prior to the attempted intervention.
Jackie's best friend Dr. O'Hara (Eve Best) meanwhile, has concluded that she simply cannot be near Jackie at all. After trying to get her shifts changed and Akalitus (Anna Deavere Smith) nixing that as unrealistic, she begins putting out feelers for work elsewhere. Akalitus catches wind of it and informs Jackie, who realizes she has to do something to stop O'Hara. What she does is intrude on O'Hara's lunch and insist that if O'Hara were to go elsewhere, Jackie has trained so many nurses at area hospitals that she'd be able to get a job working where ever O'Hara landed. So essentially, Jackie has begun repairing her friendship with O'Hara with a bit of bullying and mild threats. O'Hara seems somewhat receptive but to her credit, still very wary and not in a hurry to reconcile. Jackie is relieved that she's got at least a toe, if not her foot in the door.
It seems that if not dodging a bullet, Jackie was only grazed by it--this time. There will come a time when she bottoms out but I don't believe season three will be that time based on how adeptly she's handling being caught--seemingly without consequences of any gravity. What do you think? Will this be the season where Jackie truly is called on her drug abuse--where maybe she loses the title 'nurse' for however long it takes for her to clean up her mess?
Fun, Geoffrey Rush-narrated ''Disneyland' to 'PotC' films':
'Inspired by' the Disneyland ride, 'Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides' is Pirates #4--all starring Johnny Depp.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opens in theaters May 20th, 2011.
Cast: Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Kevin R. McNally, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Sam Claflin, Geoffrey Rush
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise—this time in Disney Digital 3D™. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise. When Jack crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), he's not sure if it's love—or if she's a ruthless con artist who's using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn't know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past. The international cast includes franchise vets Geoffrey Rush as the vengeful Captain Hector Barbossa, and Kevin R. McNally as Captain Jack's longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs, plus Sam Claflin as a stalwart missionary and Astrid Berges-Frisbey as a mysterious mermaid.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides trailer courtesy Walt Disney Pictures. Premiere on May 20, 2011.
This part of the Pirates of the Carribean ride is really well done: cannon balls are landing in the water near you as you cross between two warring ships. There are little explosions near you. When they added the 3 life-size Captain Jack Sparrows/Johnny Depps, they added 'Barbossa' as well. You can hear Barbossa 'curse' Jack Sparrow out here, too.
Above: Previously in the PotC quadrilogy: Being dead (cursed) didn't stop Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) from having a swig.
I guess he is now 'un' dead?
'PotC' was my hands- down favourite Disneyland ride for decades. Then Pixar's Toy Story happened and some years after that Disneyland installed Buzz Lightyear Adventure and then TOY STORY MIDWAY MANIA @ (DISNEY'S) California Adenture ' and Pirates, though still very awesome and now featuring three Jack Sparrow/Johnny Depps (!) animatronic guys--I wonder if he'll get a fourth, now?-- just wasn't number one with me anymore.
I'll still go on the 'Pirates' ride at Disneyland--the most I think was on a low-crowd day and I went a dozen times. I would go twice that on the 2 Toy Story-themed Disneyland - Cali Adventure rides, though. 'Midway Mania" totally immerses the rider in the 3-D game-ride to the point where you are very nearly 'inside it.' Totally addictive, mind-blowing great fun.
I also find it hard to stop riding 'Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters' in Disneyland.
Marnie the witch (see 'Pam' video above), one of the new characters in True Blood season 4 is played by the highly-esteemed Irish actress, Fiona Shaw. According to Lauren Bowles, who plays Merlotte's waitress and witch Holly Cleary,
"If there's one thing Fiona Shaw could never be accused of as an actor, that would be phoning it in. I have seen the woman (on two hours sleep) learn an entire monologue in Latin and perform it with faultless elocution that would have made the Pope proud. She's what you would call a master craftsman. I'm not sure if I want her to be my mother or my mentor or maybe my lover."
HBO Official Season 4 Pam Photo:
May be an episode one shot---seems to have nothing to do with the Pam: Waiting Sucks clip. Pam looks better with every passing year! Maybe if you play a vampire on a TV show you don't age, either!
Word is officially out that True Blood season 4 will premiere on June 26th at 9pm. Says Executive Producer Gregg Fienberg:
"I found a fan-made poster yesterday, saying the premiere date was June 12th, but the truth is now out! It's not great that you have to wait an additional two weeks, but then it's continuous, with no breaks, which will really keep the momentum of the show going. I know I don't like waiting an extra week between my favorite shows. So it's starting later, but ending at the same time. We're really excited!"
OK. Thank you, True Blood Executive Producer Gregg Fienberg! I can now sleep tonight knowing that though True Blood is starting 'late'--how many of us thought it would be on June 12--in line with the first three seasons?--it will go straight through both national holidays over the summer. See this post to read about why this is was such a big deal. Maybe they love their fans, after all.
'Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides: After crossing paths with a woman from his past (Cruz), Captain Jack Sparrow (Depp) is swept aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (McShane), on an unexpected mission to find the elusive fountain of youth.
Jack Sparrow and Barbossa embark on a quest to find the elusive fountain of youth, only to discover that Blackbeard and his daughter are after it, too.
The Oscar winner was celebrated with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame—the 2,436th to be precise—in a ceremony attended by costar Johnny Depp, husband Javier Bardem and Pirates producer Rob Marshall.
"A relatively long time ago, we did Blow together," Johnny joked, referring to their 2001 drug drama, before lavishing praise on the 36-year-old Spanish actress, not only for her skills as an actress but as a (new) mother and for the solidity of their friendship.

Did you forget to watch the season premiere of Nurse Jackie on Showtime?:
One of the ways you can view the full episode (minus a few mild swear words) is by looking over to the top right column of this blog to the Nurse Jackie videos, find it, and click to watch. If you wish, you can click through (to YouTube) to expand and watch it. It's only available for another week or so, so don't wait to watch!
If you did catch the premiere episode of Nurse Jackie last Monday, what did you think? Were you surprised at how it played out? I must admit there were a few moments that I did not see coming!
It was really great to see the cast in action again. I especially enjoyed the nuanced performance of Eve Best (O'Hara), the gritty realism of Jackie's spouse Kevin's (Dominic Fumusa) reaction to Jackie's (Edie Falco)reaction to his and O'Hara's intervention, and the impeccably subtle comic timing of Anna Deavere Smith (Gloria Akalitus).
Truly, Nurse Jackie is an extremely well-crafted series with such a great ensemble cast and super-sharp, witty writing. It's a gem. And, it goes without saying that the award-winning Edie Falco is as amazing as ever (I guess I just said that. :) )
I've had a peek at the rest of the season and I honestly don't know how the writer's come up with the twists and turns that happen along the way. I can tell you this: It is going to be one heckuva ride, possibly the best season of 'Jackie' yet as the cost of Jackie's addiction grows ever-bigger (and I'm not talking her pharmacy bill)!
Dr. Cooper apologizes to Sam for sleeping with his girlfriend.
Jackie tries to assist Dr. O'Hara with a patient.
Nurse Jackie Season 3, Episode 2: 'Enough Rope' Synopsis:
Eddie tells Jackie that he now considers Kevin a real friend and can no longer lie to him; Jackie is remorseful when she learns that O'Hara is looking for a new employer; Akalitus announces that All Saints may get a visit from the First Lady.
After the jump: Nurse Jackie: With the Creators: Game On
What About the Holidays!?! What's Up For the Fourth & Labor Day?:
This ^^^ is putting a serious crimp in my summer plans!
Put a (blood) red X on your calendar: HBO has set the premiere date for the fourth season of True Blood. The fangtastic vampire drama returns Sunday, June 26 at 9/8c. The new season, which promises to delve even deeper into witchcraft and faeries, will once again run for 12 episodes.
The question I have is, True Blood generally skips the Sundays that fall near holidays. In this case Episode 2, which will air on July 3, (based on this announcement) falls on both the Independence Day (Monday, the 4th of July) and Canada Day (Friday, the 1st of July) weekend. Poor timing, I would think. So then, will True Blood delay it's second episode of season 4 until July 11th?
With 12 episodes to be aired, True Blood will also run into Labor Day so the second question is: Will True Blood air on Sunday, September 4, which is during the Labour Day weekend?
If True Blood skips the 4th of July and Labor Day it will literally take this summer series' finale into autumn!
