Here be some very fresh (10.31), behind-the-scenes photos of Dexter (Michael C. Hall) and Lumen (Julia Stiles) filming a segment where they seemingly return to the scene of her crime and Dexter shines his super-powerful blood-seeking light where blood traces should be and it looks like a big puddle of blood was there but has the body disappeared?! R'oh-r'oh!
Included here too is a very spoilerish promo photo which totally takes the wind of out a cliff-hanger-y scene from the official preview for this episode of Dexter, so fair warning. Thrown in are some nanny scenes (completely seperate from the crime scenes--or are they?) All I get from them is that the nanny is still uh, nanny-ing "Prince" Harry. Some people speculate she'll turn out to be evil too but so far, not happening.
PHOTO SPOILER BELOW:
Peter Weller (aka RoboCop) deserved an Emmy nomination for his guest spot in Fringe—are we going to see more of him in Dexter? Dexter is going guest star to the max! The inimitable Peter Weller returns as Quinn's (Desmond Harrington) private Doakes dick; joining him are Chris Vance (Mental, Burn Notice)as security chief for motivational speaker Jordan Chase (Eli Stone's Jonny Lee Miller). You knew Boyd's creepy "Take it now!" tapes would come back to haunt us, right?
I need to know what's going to happen with Lumen on Dexter. The tension is killing me! You're not the only one! Next week Dex finally targets a fresh kill—but as usual, things don't go smoothly. This botched attempt leads to a hilariously staged murder scene—but also a deeper, trusting relationship between Dexter and Lumen ... (10.25)

Weeds is truly a unique show with an incredibly loyal audience--that needs to grow a lot.
Why? Because Weeds is funny, real, and incredibly well-written and acted.
Up until now it has been on pay-cable but it is now FREE to you and me. In other words, they've thrown open the doors to the teeming hordes.
I like this very much because 1) I came to Weeds late in the second season and have only picked it up from the start in bits and pieces and, 2) I'm incredibly cheap frugal and prefer not to buy the DVD's as I already pay to watch the show in real time on Showtime. (I would LOVE the entire series as a gift, however.)
This has been said before but it bears repeating. "Weeds" is not about drugs. It's about a family. It is not pro-marijuana. In showing some of the potential drastic consequences of selling or possession of cannabis it could be viewed as slightly anti-marijuana (no, I'm not kidding).
Finally, above all the mom on Weeds, the completely adorable and kick-ass actress Mary Louise Parker, has never taken a toke in the almost 6 seasons Weeds has aired. She does not smoke "weed." "Nancy Botwin" has a massive coffee addiction and has been known to consume alcohol and an occasional cigarette but nope, Weeds is not a show about a Mom who smokes pot. She does however deal it and in doing so mines a great deal of humour for us the audience, to consume.
Kevin Nealon is spreading the word about National Weeds Awareness Week. TV Guide Network's week long Weeds marathon continues tonight at 9/8c.
This is 'Nancy Botwin' (Mary-Louise Parker) near the end of season 6, in episode (11?) called 'Fran Tarkenton." I have no idea why it has that title but I'm hoping to find out as it airs this coming Monday, 11.08.10 on Showtime. (showtime photo credit)
And in the interest of being fair and balanced... This is YOUR Brain on Drugs (Mmm, eggs).

The animated web series DEXTER Early Cuts is a sort of prequel to the Showtime series Dexter.
Though you don't have to watch the Dexter "Early Cuts" webisodes to enjoy Dexter on Showtime, watching them will enhance your understanding of how Dexter came to be the serial killer we know and love, while convincing you how perfectly suited to a comic book series Dexter is.
I've read many comic books and I truly appreciate the quality of the renderings in this series which I watched all in one sitting. You can do the same by scrolling down this page where you'll find Episodes 1 through 6. Enjoy!
About the series:
Dexter Morgan is challenged by a copy-cat killer who does not follow any sort of code. The story opens immediately after his father Harry's death, with Dexter in his early twenties and his sister Debra still in high school. Dexter is enrolled in medical school where he's studying anatomy to improve his "craft." During a routine kill, Dexter realizes that another student has been spying on him and knows that he is a serial killer. He confronts the student after he begins to commit murders in Dexter's style and the two clash over the ethics of their situations. Dexter's faceoff with his 'Dark Echo' represents the first time his code is tested since his father's death, and the incident helps reinforce the importance of Harry Morgan's code.
DEXTER Early Cuts is illustrated by Emmy Award nominee Bill Sienkiewicz (“Batman,” “Superman” and “X-Men” comics) and acclaimed comic book illustrator David Mack (Marvel Comics’ “Daredevil” and “Kabuki) and voiced by DEXTER star and executive producer Michael C. Hall. The episodes will also be available on SHOWTIME ON DEMAND.
The title of next week's show gives us a hint that Lumen (Julia Stiles) will again be a source of chaos in Dexter's World--one in which order and precision are usually of the highest paramount. As we observed in Dexter episode 5x05, life with Lumen combined with the aftershocks of wife Rita's murder has thrown Dexter way off his game. Again, the voice of Harry became a shout when Dexter, in his race to kill one of Lumen's thought-to-be rapists/torturers before she tried to, almost killed the wrong guy. Dexter only "heard" Harry shouting at him to "Think!" as he was about to plunge his blade into the drugged man's chest. The guy on Dex's table was despicable enough to be killed but as a serial rapist he did not meet Harry's code and had proof on his ankle that he couldn't have hurt Lumen.
The side-story with Debra and the hunt for the Santa Muerte killers is most appealing for the screen time Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) and her R-rated quips are getting. Deb and Dex are both quite damaged in their own ways. Deb gets flack for her "potty mouth" but it provides a coating of armor rather than leaving her fully exposed, as it puts enough people off so that they keep their interactions with her to a minimum or stop trying to interact with her altogether.
Due to her eff-buddy and partner in crime-solving, Det. Quinn's going against Laguerta's order to stop trying to tie Dexter to Trinity and /or Rita's murder, Debra is currently working with a rookie cop on the Santa Muerte case and the rookie is getting an earful of Debra's general demeanor--all business--no bullshit, puppy dogs or rainbows.
The Laguerta-Batista union appears evermore fragile. If you recall their reason for marrying, it was to avoid the unpleasant potential consequences of a police department romance, not because they were a "perfect fit" or the love of one another's life and so the marriage could have gone either way. As is becoming more and more clear, this marriage is going straight down the shitter. How ill-fitting the Laguerta-Batista marriage is was illustrated with this week's push me-pull you cluster**** ending up being mortifyingly embarrassing for Laguerta and resulting in yet another black mark in Batista's IAB book of bad deeds.
Finally, Masuka(!) assisted Debra in deciphering a "tattoo" that the surviving neck-slashing victim had recalled seeing on the Santa Muerte killer's hand. A trip to Michael Angelo's tattoo business, where it turns out Masuka is a regular customer (who knew?--but is anyone surprised?) of female proprietor Michael, didn't seem to help much until a sharp-eyed catch Debra made later after the encounter. Comic relief abounded in an interaction Deb had with "Michael" which double-underscored Debra's sexual-partner preferences.
I'm loving Julia Stiles as Lumen. I think it has been established very quickly that she has both a will of steel yet as a recent kidnap/rape/ torture victim is psychically as fragile as porcelain doll. I'm excited to see how this will play out as Season 5 progresses. Just look to the airport pat-down screening scene in episode 5 as Lumen was "raped" again both by the screener and by every single man that passed by during the interaction. There was a palpable feeling of claustrophobia and a need to flee. Until it was over, no one (including Lumen) knew if she'd make it through the entire process. Well played, Ms.Stiles.
A Vast, Empty Space Dexter and Debra finish packing up the house.
Dexter Season 5, Episode 6
"Everything Is Illumenated"
Trying to get his life back on track, Dexter hunts a new target, but is distracted and drawn into a precarious situation while helping his troubled acquaintance. Batista discovers an interesting lead in the Santa Muerte murder cases. Quinn learns some new information about Dexter from a questionable source.
"I would have expected more from you, Morgan."
The Taxpayer's Dime
Debra plans a stakeout based on a lead in the Santa Muerte case.
Update 10.24.2010 /Tricia and Katee have announced that starting tonight at 8:30 p.m. when the UStream airs, folks that come up with the best or funniest questions for them (as deemed so by Katee's mom, affectionately referred to as "Mother Mary") will be rewarded with an Acting Outlaws t-shirt of your choice!
I'm really shocked that from the hundreds of thousands (millions?) of Battlestar Galactica fans that according to Katee, only 200-something of you tuned in to the UStream of Tricia Helfer's and Katee Sackoff's 2500-mile cross-country trip from Los Angeles to Louisiana, dubbed the "LAla Ride," to raise both awareness and funds to the still-devastated Gulf Region.
I'm a little irked with you so-called Battlestar Galctica fans for not supporting these beautiful, big-hearted, generous women who are quite literally risking their lives to help the Gulf which was severely damaged by the BP Oil Spill cluster**** months ago.
As Starbuck and as all of the Cylon Sixes, Katee and Tricia respectively, blossomed as actresses and helped to make BSG one of the best television shows in history. They gave a lot of themselves for your enjoyment.
Is it a lot to ask that you at least show some support of them as they make this grueling trip? Is it? I'm dealing with dial-up atm, and so just took 20 minutes to watch two minutes of the embedded video above.
Katee and Tricia are appearing live each night after being on their BMW bikes all day. Though unscripted, they are very entertaining and despite the obvious toll that all that riding through some truly awful weather and road conditions takes, they are putting in their best effort to bring a bit of this experience to you. Please tune in.

Goebbert's Farm, 40 W. Higgins Rd., South Barrington, IL, USA
-
We go every year because it is a local, fun outside thing to do. http://www.pumpkinfarms.com/
We started going to Goebbert's prior to the common use of digital cameras--so I have tons of photos--in boxes that I should scan to add to this bunch which only cover the last five Octobers.***
We always try to pick an Indian summer-type day to stroll around Goebbert's Pumpkin Farm. The best day to go is a weekday for the thinner crowds--and you save $ on anything that takes tickets.
I guess because I'm not a farmer's market get-up-at-dawn-type, I really savour being able to pick through the many mini gourds at Goebbert's until I find the right colour and texture combo for my cornucopia, now on the table in the living room. The kids have always liked finding the weirdest or ugliest ones they could find, too. Just a really pleasant, relaxing couple of hours, always finished off with yummy baked apple or pumpkin goods.
***Found a bunch. As soon as I have a better than Blackberry connection, they'll be posted, say by Sunday.
He's not your typical father, but they're not your typical family.
Chicagoan Frank Gallagher is the proud single dad of six smart, industrious, independent kids, who without him would be… perhaps better off. When Frank’s not at the bar spending what little money they have, he’s passed out on the floor. But the kids have found ways to grow up in spite of him. They may not be like any family you know, but they make no apologies for being exactly who they are.
SHAMELESS premieres on Sunday, January 9th at 10pm ET/PT.
I think Shameless looks very, very promising. The show, which took seed in a long-running counterpart/inspiration in the U.K., has a great group of characters. William H. Macy, who stars with actor/singer Emmy Rossum, has does everything from ER to the Coen brothers fantastic film"Fargo," to acclaimed stagework and a lot more. Now he tackles "Shameless, premiering Sunday, January 9th at 10pm ET/PT.
He seems a perfect chice for dad Frank!
Frank's kids in Shameless are quite a group and I've capped them so you can take a better look as well as a couple of scenes involving them and/or Frank.
After watching the trailer what do you think so far about Shameless? Drop a comment and share your thoughts.
I think this cemetery scene with Nancy was one of my favorites of season 6. Mary-Louise Parker did such a spectacular job conveying some of the complexities of our relationship with our parents--especially if said relatiosnhip is estranged, as Nancy Botwin's is.

Where were you in the fall of 1969? Just a couple of months past "the summer of love," at Maple Lake in the Haliburton Highlands in Ontario pictorial evidence suggests that "everything (was) beautiful."*
As I've talked about before, my mom was not the best photographer in the world (nor am I) but she often had her camera at the ready and I'm so very thankful to her that she did. Again Mom, sorry I complained so much about having to stop playing for a few minutes so you could snap a shot that I now realize preserved moments that are ever-increasingly from long ago.
I'm so glad that we can savour these photos in the here and now.
I'm one of nine first cousins that spent our summers when growing up living on Maple Lake. However in the mid-1960's my father's work compelled us to move to the eastern United States, 500 miles from our former home in Toronto. In the early years we traveled home many times a year-- summertime of course, but Easter, Canadian Thanksgiving, and Christmas, too.
The photo here is of 7 of 9 of the cousins in what was called the "back field." What is striking to me now is just how few birch trees remain. I don't know if they simply aged or if a blight took them or a combination or neither. I love the pretty white birches but I'll never forget my grandfather admonishing us to never peel bark from their trunks. Funny thing is I don't recall anyone EVER doing so that we'd need to be warned but to this day my thought process goes like this: Oh, pretty birches -->image of my grandfather --> don't peel the bark off them!
***those who know the family dynamic know better--another story for another day.
With the unplanned and unwanted arrival of "Lumen," (Julia Stiles) a victim of Dexter's serial-killer victim as well as a witness to Dexter's killing of him, we see Dexter grapple with a situation for which he has absolutely no reference point to even begin to know what to do and how to go about doing it.
It was not a coincidence that the Harry "apparition" also known as "Dexter's conscience," became both contradictory in his directives, judgemental of Dex's actions and more insistent, at one point almost literally getting in Dexter's face. Harry counts off all the things that Dexter is doing wrong starting with the code-violating kill of a redneck in a rotted old building's bathroom as Dex grappled with coping with wife Rita's death (the redneck goaded him at exactly the wrong time). Now Dexter has it wrong again. Without explicitly telling Dexter to kill Lumen, Harry hints deeply that it would be a mistake to let her live.
But Lumen is a victim and we've known since day one of this show that Dexter does indeed have a soft spot for innocent victims. Why bother with the photographs of them he hangs just so each time he kills a serial killer? Yes, it is to remind the killers of their sins but it's also to honour the dead--the victims.
In Lumen, we see Dexter's Humanity struggling with his Dark Passenger. Lumen is a huge problem for him--and he's going to have to solve this problem, having failed at what Harry insists is Rule #1 of The Code of Harry: Don't get caught. Tellingly, when Dexter has this exchange with his deceased father, Dexter's recounting of the first rule is "Never harm an innocent."

QUOTEWORTHY

Haha. Love Alan Ball. Every time he opens his mouth what he says is quote-worthy.
Steven Moyer as he accepted "Holy Sh!t Scene of the Year" for True Blood - Twisted Sex : "I don't know what all the fuss is about. Doesn't everyone have sex like that?"
Steve is another walking quote machine. So witty. And extra super-cute without the vampire makeup.

I've been a science fiction and fantasy fan since age 4 (Twilight Zone, Outer Limits) as well as "horror" if it's done with humour (think Eric Northman of True Blood, season 2 in his dungeon going all primal on a redneck who has just "(done) silver to (him)," then immediately switching gears to consulting with the shackled and terrified Lafayette worrying if his highlights foils got blood in them, fretting that "Pam is going to kill me," so I think its fantastic that media for this genre is being singled out and recognized for excellence. I hate to complain but I have to state that SPIKE TV needs to become more inclusive about "who" is in their demographic. I've read that in the past few years the number of women enjoying the Sci-fi/Fantasy/Horror genre has skyrocketed from 10% to almost 50%. Obviously, True Blood has had a lot to do with this as well as those "other" vamp series both on film and TV (wisely labeled "fantasy" at the Spike Awards).
I never thought that science fiction or fantasy belonged to guys. I just knew that there were not too many girls with my tastes in superheroes, film and television shows. As an adult, other than once a year, I never watch SPIKE TV because they make such a whoop-de-do deal about being for guys. I think they should wise up, look at the female faces in their audience and then take the logical next step. Programming guys, are you listening? Otherwise, I'd like to see a basic cable network that already knows what the girls like, SyFy, pick up the slack and get it's own awards show going.

So what did y'all think of Dexter, Episode 5x03 last night?
I'd been looking forward to it for all the people that were getting impatient to see Dexter back in his kill a/k/a comfort zone again. And back he was, though it turns out he didn't get anywhere near the comfort he was craving. Despite the voice of Harry giving him how-to prompts, Dexter was not at all on his game. He missed details that "old Dexter" would have never overlooked, he took crazy chances when he didn't need to and almost got caught and then, DID get caught. Anticipating all the gratification that comes with a successful kill (finally), after Dex plunged the knife into Boyd, the-dead-animal-clean-up guy, there was none. Worse, seconds after killing Boyd Dex realized he'd been sloppy and this improvised, inside-Boyd's-home kill brought with it a mistake that shattered Rule 1 of The Code: Never get caught.
Peering through a vent cover, seeing everything, was "Rachel" looking like she's had no access to soap & water for a month and that she'd been bound about the same amount of time. Dexter grabbed her and in doing so we saw further indications of torture which backed up Boyd's assertion that his victims were "in pain" when he offed them. Boyd put them there.
In survival mode, reacting, Dexter knocked her out and in doing so to this pathetic shell of a woman, the monster within him became without. Dex was in survival mode, not in the cerebral way we are used to but scattered, improvised.
Though we know actress Julia Stiles, cast as "Rachel," is in the show for a long arc, in the moment it was a huge question mark for me whether Dexter would continue to break the code and kill her--though she very likely is in no way a serial killer too and therefore a not a candidate for a Dexter kill.
This episode was quite an adrenalin rush between Dexter's attempt at a return to form, and Deb's chasing down the "St. Muerte" killer in a Venezuelan neighbourhood, and strangely, least compelling (so far) Deb's partner's determination to prove Dexter murdered Rita. Quinn's secret phone calls to the FBI guy working the still-open Trinity case were not very terribly exciting because in the context of the series--so far--he just does not seem a threat that Dexter cannot find away to "manage."
Dexter has a huge problem. A victim he has saved is a witness to one of his kills...
...which here she confirms with a look back at Dexter who explains why her cannot let her go.
After four years of watching Dexter, one sort of gets used to his kills and the justifications he uses for them. But now he is faced with a seemingly impossible set of circumstances. "Rachel" is a victim, an innocent and yet she's a bigger threat than Quinn in the risk of exposing Dexter's most unflattering personality trait to the world. Just from the preview & sneak peeks (watch 'em on this page) we see how heartless Dexter is compelled to behave. He's not the "loveable" serial killer but a selfish so-and- so.
"I brought you some aspirin," he tells her, "you probably have a headache from the tranquilizer" (he shot her up with).
This episode will air on October 17th, 2010. Showtime, @9pm

How would you describe Bellatrix? She's obviously as bonkers as they come. There's a bit of a child-like madness there. I did regress a bit as her. It sort of happened naturally. It's easy for me to go back to being a kid. You know how kids can be like savages before they get civilized? There's that sadist quality. Y'know, like boys who like to pick apart an insect for the sake of it.
And that describes Bellatrix for you? Oh yes. She's a sadist. She's very sick. She's got problems. I think she's been in prison a bit too long. But I suspect even before prison she had problems. She's a racist, obsessed with blood purity. Like Adolf. And she's in love with Voldemort, really.
In a lot of Phoenix promos, Warner has been playing up that image of Bellatrix threatening Neville Longbottom (played by Matthew Lewis) with her wand. I did something terrible. By mistake, I poked him in his ear. I thought I could brandish the wand like a sort of Q-tip, and clean out his ear. Sort of torture it. But unfortunately he moved toward the wand as I was prodding it. And it actually perforated his eardrum. Isn't that horrific? I damaged him! He's such a nice young man, he didn't admit to me that he actually had some internal bleeding about three days later.
So you didn't even know you'd injured him at the time? No. And it wasn't permanent. But there was pain, and blood. Well, torture happens. Sorry! Oops! I think I took my sadism a bit too literally.
Wow — that's an interesting bit of improv. Stupid, though! Dangerous! I did feel awful when they told me.
Did you get a chance to apologize to Matthew later, once you found out what had happened? Oh yeah. But he was deaf, so he couldn't hear me. [Laughs wildly]

The mind boggles thinking about how much they are spending on the avalanche of this stuff...but you just know they'll be selling them and you simply must collect each one.
True Blood Star Joe Manganiello whose beautiful brown peepers, shock of just-out-of-bed raven hair, and sculpted (6'5") slab of beefcake body and nice-guy demeanour Truebies are looking forward to in his move to series regular in True Blood Season 4, is slated to appear at the
OperaUltra Lounge, formerly Theatro during it's inaugural weekend on Saturday, Oct 23, at an event advertised as a "True Blood Party."
The club is located in the West Loop at 858 W. Lake St., Chicago (Tel: (312) 455-2776).
OperaUltra Lounge is a bit of a mystery with only what it's former incarnation and it's present presentation cluing us in to what the club might be like.
In the space that OperaUltra Lounge now occupies was "Theatro," for which I've pasted in a snippet of it's description:
Editorial Review of Theatro NOW CLOSED...
Formerly: Head to the theater on a Friday or Saturday night — only, this isn't the type of performance your grandmother would fancy. This new club/lounge in the West Loop was inspired somewhat by the mansion scene in the Tom Cruise-Nicole Kidman flick "Eyes Wide Shut" (you know, the scene with all the ... ahem ... masks).
Of course, no actual swingers sex is allowed. Gothic meets chic at Theatro, in the former home of Reserve. But don't waste your time studying the decadent chandeliers or the gold-plated masks on the wall behind the DJ. And never mind the nearly dozen bouncers built like Mack trucks. The real entertainment is the actresses.
Sexy waitresses in short black dresses behind the long bar serve a host of fancy cocktails. Or take your bottle and your posse to the large black leather banquettes. Make sure you can see the glass-enclosed stage at the center of the club. Every 45 minutes or so the blinds will be pulled up, revealing the evening's entertainment. A juggler? A fire-eater? A trans-gender diva? Every weekend is a surprise...
[caption id="attachment_9823" align="aligncenter" width="521" caption="Joe Manganiello scheduled for opening weekend True Blood Party at OperaUltra Lounge in Chicago on October 23, 2010"][/caption]
I'm guessing based on Joe's come-hither pose and porn actress Sasha Grey's...photo (below) that the new club may not be hugely different than the old.
The only catch I can see with having a True Blood party at an adult club is that quite a few Truebies have not hit age 21 yet and so would be shut out of this event.
I would love to go to see and hopefully meet Joe because he seems like the nicest of guys and I'd be thrilled to finally attend a True Blood event here in the great Midwest. But since many Truebies could not go due to age restrictions I'm wondering if Joe might meet up at an all-ages spot for a short while-- maybe before the event? Just took a look and there are some good choices within a couple of blocks of OperaUltra Lounge. Veerasway looks like a good one with an Indian-American fusion thing going and lots of yummy non-alcoholic drinks and a price range where one could get in and out for under $15. It's only a 15-minute walk to public transportation (train station) and yes, if I sound like a cheap date it's because I am. It's the company that count. And besides, I'm not really cheap, just frugal. ;)
So to the swoon-inducing Mr. Manganiello, if you truly are making a featured True Blood appearance in Chicago on October 22 would you consider an informal drop-by in a spot where ALL your fans can say hello? As much as we'd love to, not all of us have the big bucks that one needs to partake in the pleasures of a fancy Chicago nightclub and/or are age 21. We'd love to cheer you on though!

You should follow @actingoutlaws on Twitter: Katee Sackhoff is luring Tricia Helfer into the desert, ostensibly "to raise money for the Gulf Coast Relief Fund." I'm sure that isn't code for anything, but I'm also pretty sure Thunderdome is somewhere between LA and Louisiana.
I disagree with some of the picks and would debate on a few others but this video has cool music and a nice montage of featured Cylons from the original series through the Ronald G.Moore-era Cylons.

OK. If I were a true-blue geek I'd have known that this character alignment chart is an idea taken from Dungeons and Dragons. But I'm not that geeky-cool, I'm just a BSG fangirl and I thought this handy-dandy chart pretty awesome.
It also gives me a chance yet again to remind all TRUE Battlestar Galactica fans that two of the women who made the show utterly unforgetttable, Tricia Helfer as "Six" and Katee Sackoff as "Starbuck" are pretty badass IRL, too. How many other ladies do you know who would climb onto their motorcycles andmake a grueling 2500-mile trip across country from Los Angeles to Louisiana, dubbed the "LA-La" trip, to help rasie awareness and funds for the sickened Gulf? It all begins on Oct 22 and culminates 10 days later...

These promos show a distinctly different tone to Dexter (the show) this season in that both are humourous. The show has always been chock full of the darkest of dark humour but I think they timed it just right in pulling back until the third episode to allow the humour back in, so to speak. LOVE this show!

Fun TV Guide covers up top. "That" is Michael C. Hall's real hair versus the wigs he's been wearing, I believe since the end of season 4. I am so glad MCH has recovered. Don't even want to think of the the alternative...Anyway, small thing but I got wigged out at what had happened to his hair last season. At the time, he had not gone public about his cancer as he's a very, very private person, I read. However, due to being nominated for a number of awards for his performance in Dexter he showed up to the gala events during chemotherapy treatment wearing a watchman's cap. Questions (and answers) ensued. He had been in treatment during season 4 filming but the cast claims they had no idea that he was ill. Did they not notice or were they too polite to ask?
The Pacific Ocean in particular and nature in general inspire me. Inspire me to do what? To inhale deeply, to truly savour each breath, knowing they are finite, reminding me to live--and love in the moment. Speaking of "(reaching) for the stars," the heavens in fact, inspire me. I'm not sure what I could do that others would consider 'truly extraordinary'. I suppose I'll know when I get there.
IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is an outdoor work of art conceived by Yoko Ono in memory of John Lennon. It is situated on Viðey Island in Reykjavík, Iceland. The artwork was dedicated to John by Yoko at its unveiling on October 9th 2007, John Lennons 67th birthday.
IMAGINE PEACE TOWER symbolizes Lennons and Onos continuing campaign for world peace - which began in the sixties, was sealed by their marriage in 1969 and will continue forever.
The words IMAGINE PEACE are inscribed on the Well in 24 different languages.
IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is composed of a tall shimmering tower of light that will appear every year and be visible from October 9th (Johns birthday) until December 8th (the anniversary of his passing).
In addition, the Tower will illuminate from Winter Solstice (December 21st 28th), on New Years Eve (December 31st) and the first week of spring (March 21st -28th). It is lit from 2 hours after sunset until midnight, and until dawn on New Years Day.
On 9th October, John Lennons birthday, Yoko Ono asks the people of Iceland to join her and many others across the rest of the world in praying for peace and stability.
At 8pm, as IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is illuminated on the island of Viðey, in Reykjavik, Iceland, she asks everyone to join together and let the power of light and prayer become a collective expression of the desire for peace and harmony on our planet.
Dear Friends,
Please join me not only in remembering John on October 9th but also in spreading the message of peace. This is something that was so important to John - the fact that we could all work together for the positive good of our planet. He would have loved how we are all mobilizing ourselves in thought and in action.
It's time for Action and the Action is PEACE!
with love, yoko
Thirty years later, I still can't get through listening to "Imagine" w/out crying. I couldn't get through Yoko's message tear-free either, but it is a critical one sp please listen. Its not about "just" ending war against one another, its about ending our destruction of planet Earth in every way. I cannot phrase it any better than Yoko does when she says, "we (can) all work together for the positive good of our planet." We must.
I made this blend of Tupac's "Better Dayz" with Marvin Gaye's jam "Inner City Blues" after a request from Afeni Shakur (Tupac's mom!). It's supposed to be a conversation between the two artists... Hope you enjoy it... credits released 13 September 2010
Perfect timing on this FREE download. I think Tupac & John Lennon could have made some amazing music together. This song just gets better upon repeat listening, in no small part due to the seamless mixing of the legendary Marvin Gaye's contribution of "Inner City Blues." Enjoy it and hare!
Join us in celebrating John Lennon's 70th birthday!
Give peace a chance.
Please join Yoko in dedicating this light tower in honor of John Lennon. In 1967, he conveyed his wishes to Yoko for a light tower to be constructed in his garden. In Yoko's words, it just came together in the past few years. Watch the video and you will see why she chose this place for the light tower. John's 70th birthday would have been tomorrow, October 9. Thanks.

Nancy starts trouble in a small-town bar.
Weeds Season 6 Episode 8 "Gentle Puppies"
Synopsis:After acquiring an RV, Nancy lets Andy navigate the road and he leads them to Pioneer Town, a former western movie set now turned off-the-grid scab city. While Nancy attempts to get the lay of the land, she instructs the family to set up a mobile hash making shop inside the RV. Andy and Silas work on getting laundry machines while Doug and Shane try to obtain water.
And apparently from all the hype and the little video snippet here, Nancy goes to a "podunk bar" to get an itch scratched by actor Mark-Paul Gosselar who until now I have never heard of, nor do I recognize or think is particularly great-looking. Actually, none of the men Nancy has had intimate relationships with have been particularly good-looking. I thought "Conrad" (Romany Malco Jr.) was cute but she wouldn't give him the time of day I guess because he was actually a good guy and Nancy is both a narcissist and a masochist? I'm not knocking MLP because I love her but the more I see of Nancy the less I like her and the more I understand the need for likable, funny "good"Andy. He's the counterbalance to all the negativity and destruction she leaves in her wake. Maybe instead of tobacco she should start smoking some of her own product. Just a thought as she's never done so onscreen.

Wow! Are the publicity people hemorrhaging these images or what?!
Jebus! There is no way that anyone but the most devoted Muggle could ever keep up with the volume. My hard drive is sagging under the weight of all these!
So what d'ya think? (Make sure to click through--All of the Cast Promotional Posters are Hi-Res and many are super-duper big!)
One thing I can't get over is how hairy Harry is! I'm not trying to be funny. Little Harry grew up to be a very hirsute man! Another thing is when photos are blown up as big as some of these--the makeup is really evident--especially wounds. Only the guy with the severe scarring looks like he sustained the wounds. Photoshopping is really noticeable too. In the film with movement (obviously) I don't think these nitpicky things will be evident tho'.
Another observation is that there seems to be quite a mish-mash of photographers involved here--as well as at least one artist who went really, really dark. I don't think anyone is going to even be faintly surprised that HP & TDH is DARK.
Some of the production photos are awesome. For instance, the one of Ron Weasley peering around the corner of a big building in the city looked absolutely uninteresting as I saw it before but now--with a huge crew filming--it's fascinating! Harry running through the woods with a camera crew parallel to him atop what looks like train tracks about 15 feet away is pretty cool as well.
The process of lighting a scene always fascinates me. The snowy photo with a regular scene playing out in the lower 2/3's of the pic with a humongous light looming overhead is pretty spectacular, too. Take some time and click through all of them. They are full-size and worth the time!

I'm still sort of gobsmacked that the American Movie (Classics) Channel is putting on a zombie gorefest television series but I'm not at all unhappy about it. It just seems so incongruous. Perhaps zombies represent the quintessential American cinematic subject?
Just so I can get the dozen or more promos for AMC's "Walking Dead" in a handy one-stop shop form I'm repeat-posting the first "Walking Dead" long-form preview, too. It just makes things easier when the person who posted the videos takes them down, gets suspended or has their account exiled forever from YouTube. (Oh YouTube, let me count the ways that I both love and hate thee.)
EDIT/ Maybe part of the answer is here. WhenI tried to go to AMC's "About" page I get this "The requested object does not exist on this server. The link you followed is either outdated, inaccurate, or the server has been instructed not to let you have it. Please inform the site administrator of the referring page." Also, I believe I was wrong in referring to AMC as American Movie (Classics) Channel. Like "KFC" (nee Kentucky Fried Chicken) their moniker simply seems to be "AMC" now.
AMC's newest original series, "The Walking Dead," will premiere on Halloween night, Sunday, October 31 at 10 PM ET. The Sunday night series will debut with a 90-minute premiere episode, airing at 10 PM, October 31st. Subsequent episodes will be one-hour long presentations.
"The Walking Dead" is based on the comic book written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The six-episode series tells the story of life following a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln ("Love Actually," "Teachers," "Strike Back"), traveling in search of a safe and secure home. Jon Bernthal ("The Pacific," "The Ghost Writer") plays Rick's sheriff's department partner before the apocalypse, Shane Walsh, and Sarah Wayne Callies ("Prison Break"), is Rick's wife, Lori. Supporting cast include Laurie Holden ("The Shield"), Jeffrey DeMunn, Chandler Riggs and Steven Yeun.

Two, at the end of this post the Ausiello spoiler is spoiled by the E! scoop (again) in that we now know that "Nancy’s second thoughts about her family’s life on the lam lead her to make what could be a fatal mistake" means that somehow she tips off Esteban about her whereabouts. Leave it to Nancy to continue never learning from her mistakes. Mary Louise sure does make her a loveable loser, though.
Sources confirm that Demián Bichir returns to Weeds this season as Tijuana mayor, jilted husband and devoted daddy Esteban Reyes for the penultimate Nov. 8 installment and the season finale on Nov. 15. We just chatted with Demián, and here's what he told us about the coming consequences of Nancy's actions...
According to Demián Bichir, it's anybody's game when his character reappears in Weeds episodes 11 and 12.
He says, "This is a first-come, first-served situation, and everyone is after Nancy and me. Because there's been a murder, and they are digging out a couple of things about Esteban that are pretty much not OK. The whole situation is time-sensitive. It's a timebomb. We'd better hurry up, because this is getting uglier as time goes by. Esteban's pretty, pretty upset about the whole thing. Because you don't run away with my boy—Esteban's not going to sit down and cross his arms and wait for his boy. That's not going to happen."
... Bichir... wouldn't mind if things got heated between Mr. and Mrs. Reyes one last time. He says of costar Mary-Louise Parker,
"There have been some really nice hot scenes with Mary-Louise, and it's really hard to do those scenes unless you have a true partner, a good friend and a generous fellow actor, but she's a great hanky-panky partner."
He continues, in answer to "Does he think that Nancy & Esteban have a future?"
"When I first started working on this show, every time I got a new script I just hoped for Esteban to be alive, but then I realized being alive or dead on this show doesn't mean anything. Even if you're alive, you can be dead, and even if you're dead, you can come back to life. These guys are wacko. That's what I love about the show, and all I can say is that I would love to come back."
Ausiello Gossip tidbit: In episode 8 (airing Oct. 11), Nancy knocks boots with guest hottie Mark-Paul Gosselaar. From what I hear, it’s the kind of scene that DVR rewind buttons were invented for. Meanwhile, in episode 9 (airing Oct. 18), Nancy’s second thoughts about her family’s life on the lam lead her to make what could be a fatal mistake. Read more: Ausiello
Alexander Skarsgård drar igång bajenklacken med Hur ska vi ha´t m.m ... ber om ursäkt för den dåliga ljudkvalitén...
Actor Alexander Skarsgård encourages the Hammarby supporters to sing at the football (soccer) game between Hammarby(bajen) and Syrianska in Stockholm, Sweden.
Thank you to "Petra" for taking the time to alert me to this great video featuring Alexander Skarsgård supporting Hammarby(bajen) his favourite team, by leading the fans in song and chants.
As Petra wrote, "It's a clip of Alexander Skarsgård leading a soccer terrace in chant. His favourite team Hammarby IF has, much to the fans' despair, failed to reach promotion to the highest division in Sweden and is also in financial crisis. Alexander donated a signed script of a True Blood episode to a support auction before Saturday's game and then went to the terrace to support the team, even if the game was pointless since the team is stuck in second division next year too."
So even in the face of defeat, Alex and the Hammarby fans show just how much team spirit they have. Their enthusiasm is inspiring!
Also, in his time away from shooting True Blood, Alexander recently made appearances in Australia & Germany. Here's a shot of the always photogenic Mr. Skarsgård with some lovely ladies in Germany promoting True Blood.

There is a lot to love about Dexter, Season 5 debut, "My Bad."
The fact that Michael C. Hall is back as Dexter after treatment for cancer is so great. Michael is truly golden.
Because I'd viewed so much promo material prior to the debut of Dexter this year tho', there was less visceral reaction to the horror of what (continued to) happen(ed) in episode 5x01.

It's sort of strange I think, how many people view Dexter through a lens with an arm's length. It seems he's seen as a "lovable" monster, definitely not human.
For me (and it could be because I'd just watched Michael C. Hall for 6 years in Alan Ball's Six Feet Under--but I don't think so) Dexter has always been human. Heartbreakingly so. Dexter is probably the highest functioning serial killer on the planet but "high-functioning" for him means that he remains a serial killer which is certainly not normal but it isn't a monster, either. I see Dexter as a damaged survivor of a horrific trauma.
It's testament to Hall's abilities that one can feel empathy for a man who has murdered over 60 times. The writers get credit too of course, but Hall has never hit a false note in all this time. The cast as an ensemble is across-the-board super and it would seem likely that all the parts that make the show "Dexter" greatly help fuel Michael C. Hall's inhabiting the persona of Dexter for our viewing pleasure.
Dexter full episode. In the Season 5 premiere, Dexter reels from Rita's murder and makes a choice that will affect everyone's lives; Quinn stirs up trouble by suggesting that Rita's death doesn't fit Trinity's profile and offers much-needed support to Debra.
Kudos to Showtime for the great free videos they are releasing of late.

Rita's Death I think Imay have missed posting this previously...
SHOWTIME | Season 5 Ep. 0 | Added: August 31, 2010
The cast of Dexter revisit Rita's death and how it has changed the formula of the show.
Please Forgive Me.* I was completely consumed with True Blood** and let everything else go to pot. The descriptive name of this blog is spot on.
So. OMG! Some of these hugetastic stills are so neat! It's been years since I've read "Deathly Hallows" but the hype promotional campaign has me considering a re-read--only this time I'll skip the last chapter which I well and truly hated. I had no desire whatsoever to see the Potter kids middle-aged. And please, that dumb Ron with brainy Hermoine. Cute, but I expected soooo much more from her. Hooking up with Ron as if she were some common Muggle...Um, right. Big letdown, J.K. The stills from that portion (which are not here) are positively gruesome.
Check out these brand new Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 posters courtesy of Yahoo Movies. This fine trio boasts action poses from the holy trinity of Harry, Hermoine and the ginger one. Bloody brilliant!
It’s not long to go now before the first instalment comes to our screens marking the beginning of the end of one of the most successful film and literature series in the history of the whole wide world! It’s exciting but sad at the same time, no?
Love how these guys ^^^ write! Yes, of course the are Brits.
