If it is possible to be any more excited about the premiere of True Blood Season 3 then this video just did so for me. The actors look so fangtastic! They are in costume it seems for the group poster. Great stuff!

True Blood - Minisode 1.05 - Bill
HBO — May 25, 2010 — Season 3 Ep. 0 — (Rated: TV-14) Bill negotiates a sweet deal on a ring with a lustful jewelry saleswoman in this "True Blood" minisode. For more information, log onto HBO.com.
Very cheeky, LOL.
This lady should just be wearing one of these:
or possibly this:
This scene must have occurred just prior to Bill taking Sookie out to the fancy restaurant where he had reserved the entire place so he could propose marriage to Sookie.
His timing on the proposal was so terrible, coming on the heels of the Maryann & Godric-Dallas debacles. Of course he meant well-- Bill is such a romantic but with season 3 very soon upon us (June 13 HBO), what will become of Sookie and Bill?
Some small-ish spoilers:
Q: Give me a good tease about True Blood's new season.
A: In Season 3 True Blood Zeljko Ivanek returns as the Magister, and he's cracking down on the illegal V trade in Louisiana. This is a problem for the Queen, since she's tacitly allowing it, and for Eric and Pam, since they're running it.

Ausiello has "no idea" what role Stiles would play should she accept but previously executive producer Sara Colleton did hint that there would be no Big Bad in Season 5, explaining that the focus will be turned back on to Dexter and his internal struggle with everything going on—something the series has never done before. Colleton explained, “John Lithgow (Season 4's 'Trinity Killer' who murdered Dex's wife, Rita) is a tough act to follow. If there was ever a year that we could take a step back from the Big Bad formula and go deeper into Dexter and his psychology, this would be it."
New 'Dexter' showrunner Chip Johannessen seemed to confirm what Colleton said back in March, more recently.
“We’re not going to have a single Big Bad this season,” Johannessen explained. “We don’t want to try and top John Lithgow, so we’re going to change up the forces that Dexter’s going to be dealing with.”
As Ausiello notes, Season 5 Dexter picks up immediately following the death of Rita so it’s also unlikely Stiles will be coming in as a love interest for Michael C. Hall in his role as newly grieving widower (and at least for awhile, murder suspect).
I'm gonna guess she'll be some sort of detective that will dog Dexter-- as if he won't have enough on his plate.
Cannot wait for Season 5 to start!
Source: Ausiello
Just a couple of days ago Ausiello, whom the Dexter people really seem to like (despite his horrible overuse of the word "killer" as in "killer season" and "killer scoop." Perhaps Ausiello is needs a refresher course in creative writing?) disclosed that Julie Benz would appear in the first episode of Dexter, season 5.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Julie Benz...has signed on to reprise her role as Dexter’s late bride in the first episode of season 5 …
Specific details of Rita’s “resurrection” are being kept under wraps, but I’m told she is not coming back from the dead. New showrunner/executive producer Chip Johannessen also rules out a spectral visit a la Dexter’s late pa, Harry. “We’re not going to do some ghostly thing with her,” he says. Adds fellow exec producer Sara Colleton: “We reserve those for Harry. If you have too many things like that it becomes gimmicky.” So how exactly will Benz — who will shoot her Dexter episode before starting work on her new ABC drama, No Ordinary Family — be revived? A Showtime rep would only add that the presence of Rita will “help Dexter deal with his newfound feelings of loss and grief — emotions he has never really felt before.” Ausiello
Finally from Ausiello's May 19 Q & A:
Q: Do you know if the producers of Dexter have plans to introduce a new love interest for Deb?
A: "Introduce "probably isn’t the right word, since her new love interest is someone she already knows. I’m hearing that new showrunner Chip Johannessen is finally going to pull the trigger on a Deb-Quinn romance.

As you can see, the poster depicts an old photograph dating back to 1962. Pictured here is an adorable little girl cozying up with an equally precious puppy. But the photo's description — "Me & little sister Sally" — causes quite a bit of initial confusionOur hunch is that the dog itself is actually a shape-shifter posing with his or her little sister, Sally. As this season is said to shine the spotlight on shape-shifters thanks to Sam Merlotte's (Sam Trammell) exploration of his own family history, it's a good bet that we're looking at a shape-shifter sibling duo, if not actual members of the Merlotte family.

I was fortunate enough a couple of weeks ago to be turned on to The Dead Weather's Sea of Cowards, their second album in as many years, and as is my habit when I love a body of music I've immersed myself in it.
I pretty much expounded upon all the reasons I love this LP in this post but it is easy to add more now that I've dug deeper into their catalog.
Lead singer Alison Mosshart brings Janis Joplin to mind more than any female singer since Janis Joplin. Janis was before my time but there have been enough female blues-rock singers since her premature passing 40 years ago and Mosshart is the very first one who reminds me of Janis.
It's not just the singing--which is pretty damned impressive--it's Mosshart's soaked-in-the blues attitude that she brings to each song. She, like Janis is fearless and that makes what she does exciting, primal, electric and dirty, oh gawd yeah--down and dirty.
Jack White knew exactly what he was doing when her brought Allison on board into his current supergroup because her fearlessness matches his, providing the perfect grungy counterpoint.
Besides the spot on musical match in Mosshart and White, the quality of sound tonally, the production values are just off the charts. The sound is full and visceral and as we've come to expect, Jack White has again brought aboard crack musicians in Jack Lawrence and Dean Fertita. These guys seem to fit like pieces of a puzzle into this mix of alt-blues-indie-garage rock.
Not every single song on Sea of Cowards may be your cup-of-tea but guaranteed, the guys anchoring the sound of this band are amazing.
One night I played Sea of Cowards for my significant and we found that it is perfect for a night of shall we say, enthusiastic romance.
There is a strong blues rock-infused feel to Sea of Cowards and no one has ever tried to get around the fact that the blues and sex are very close companions. The guy-girl dynamic in this band works, period.
I like too the artistry that accompanies this band. I know ultimately that it is about the music but I like my other senses stimulated, too. The Dead Weather's live videos augment the recorded music in that you can appreciate that the sound is raw, straight-from-the-gut and through the heart. I admit too, straight as I am, I cannot take my eyes off Allison in concert.
If I could see one band in concert this summer it would be The Dead Weather. They are the perfect band for the hottest time of the year.
Scroll down to check out The Dead Weather's Summer Concert schedule as well a another of my favourite tracks off the new LP AND a link to where you can "Die By the Drop" from Sea of Cowards!

Funny because by the time we got to the end of LOST finale "The End," our heads were so spun around by what had unfolded that the rusting wreckage was the least of our concerns. This:![]()
You know those Oceanic 815 plane crash images that ran after Jack's (Matthew Fox) eye closed and the "Lost" logo appeared on our TV screens? Some "Lost" fans and TV critics have wondered if they were a last Easter egg from the producers, a clue meant to lead us to conclude that no one survived Oceanic 815's crash landing — and therefore everything we've seen over the last six years never really happened.

[caption id="attachment_4755" align="aligncenter" width="405" caption="'Night Cap ' HBO True Blood Season 3 Collectible Poster 9 of 12"][/caption]
Here's the latest in the Season 3 viral poster group of 12. This is called "Night Cap' and it plays on the "cap" part of the Tru Blood Bottle pictured. Not super-clever but I do like the colours they used, especially the blue hues in the background and in the moon (moon shadows). I wonder if the moon holds any clues like a Rorschach test for Truebies? Could be fun to try to find hints to Season 3. The full moon has to be an allusion to Season 3's mass influx of weres and shifters.
So do any of the ten people that read this blog besides me and my DH, have an opinion of this latest offering? Hit the comment button and speak up! (Unlike weres and vamps, I do not bite--not very hard anyway.)

Update/
The most significant move is for “Survivor: Nicaragua,” which will now air on Wednesday. “Survivor” has been a force on Thursday nights for pretty much a decade, and this move either suggests that the network wants to dominate Wednesdays now or that they’re starting to think they can find a better anchor.

Meanwhile, in his final EW column, which is always so insightful (“To those of you who think I suck as a host or as a blogger… kiss it”), Jeff Probst reveals that Russell’s responses to Probst’s questions finally made Probst change his mind about Russell. And more interestingly, writes that “Less than 2,000 votes separated” Russell and Rupert” for the $100,000 fan favorite prize.
I understand why people voted for Russell, even if I think that’s dumb, but Rupert? What the hell did he do this season? Parvati, or Courtney, or Jerri, or Rob—so many others would have been better choices.

I would have given it to Parvati. I think her flirty manipulativeness turned enough women voters off that she'd not have a chance with "America."
Sandra, Russell, and Parvati’s Exit Interview – Survivor Heroes vs Villains (S20E13)Russell said:
Did you know you lost Samoa when you played Heroes vs Villains?
“Yeah. I knew I lost because you can read what they tell you and how things are going. It’s common sense to know that you did not win.”“I do what I want to do and I don’t care.”
“I got beat by a bitter jury. They voted for the person they least hated.”
“Lebron James never won a championship. They consider him the best.”
Would like to play Rob again?
“No. He didn’t even make the jury twice. Why would I want to play him again? I knocked him out once.”Would you ever come back again?
“I don’t know. I’d have to think about that. The one guy I do want to play against is Richard Hatch.”Sandra said:
“That’s the first time he said that he knew he lost Samoa. If you’re a strategic player, how do you go 10 days later and play the same stupid game?”
“I am the best. I have 2 titles and 2 checks. If that’s not the best, I don’t know what is.”
“Weakness is actually a strategy and I love it. Colby being weak got him to the end.”
“Russell needs to thank Parvati and Jerri and Danielle for keeping his butt in the game.”
Parvati said:
Why did you keep his butt in the game?
“He was my only line of defense. Everyone was trying to vote me out. No one would talk to me. If Russell got voted out, I would have been the next to go.”Would it have been better if Jerri was there instead of Sandra?
“Jerri would have won. I would have had a better shot against Jerri, but it was a bitter jury. They just didn’t want to give me a million again.”Listen to the whole interview. (Quality of the audio is due to the phone call, not the equipment used to record it. Sorry.)
24:31 minutes long 8.8MB Download it here.
Sandra Diaz-Twine did exactly what she promised and won Survivor Heroes vs. Villains, becoming the show’s first-ever two-time winner by using a strategy very similar to the one that worked for her in the Pearl Islands. The most surprising part of a surprising finale was how unsurprised the final three seemed during the live vote reveal; it’s almost as if they knew the outcome in advance.
I'm pretty certain that the last observation in the paragraph above: "it’s almost as if they knew the outcome in advance," was a teeny bit of sarcasm. The reality is that the boot list got published at the very beginning of the season. I think this exposes a flaw in SURVIVOR's long gap between the filming and the airing of each season. (The time-gap issue won't get better with the now-standard back-to-back in the same locale shooting of the show.) Logically, the more time the contestants (and others) have to talk about who they did and did not vote for, the more of a chance that the boot list is going to get out and that it will be accurate.
The boot list for SURVIVOR: Heroes vs. Villains was leaked all over the Internet. When the show aired once tribe members started dropping in the exact order of the boot sheet, with each new boot it became clear who exactly would be in the final three.
I'm just a blogger with no inside info whatsoever and I stumbled across it by the second week of the season--and I wasn't even looking for it! I knew how far my favourite player was going to go from the get-go which was hard as there was no hope for her. I could not believe that Jerri, who was edited to seem unsure and wussy, was going to go as far as she did but when Parvati gave Jerri a HII at tribal that picture started to come together. Finally, Parvati's astounding repeated wins in the personal immunity challenges explained a lot as well as Jerri's blossoming as the season progressed. With my favourite gone and the dwindling tribe getting more screen time I started to appreciate Jerri a lot more personally and for her spirited game play. It seemed the editing at first tried to paint her in a bad light due to her musty, ten-years-ago Australian Outback "black widow" performance.
Jerri was the only one to admit being marooned with Russell scared her. I thought her bravely honest when she did so. Russell was scary to me, safely on this side of the screen. In person Russell was full of cutthroat trash-talk but the thought that he might stab me in the eye while I was sleeping and call it an accident would have prevented me from shutting one eye each night.
Parvati Shallow would have been a great winner, but had to settle for second place—and the distinction of the person who’s played the game longer than anyone else, 114 days. Her three individual immunity challenge wins also tie her for second, though Colby Donaldson retains that title, despite his lackluster performance this season (he attributed that during the reunion to a lack of excitement about being back for a third time).
"...And Russell Hantz got zero votes, though he did win $100,000 thanks to dumb viewers."
Read the entire article at:
http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/archives/survivor_heroes_vs_villains/2010_May_17_sandra_wins
EDIT/ Russell won $200,000 for Player of the (20th) Season plus 100K for second runner-up. Also, he won the exact same amount for the game he played 10 days prior to starting this one--for a pre-tax total of $400K. I look at it this way."Player of the Season" is much like Time magazine's "Person of the Year." That person has been Hitler and it's been American Presidents. It's not how GOOD they are but how influential overall. Rupert had very little effect on this season of survivor. Russell? Hell yeah.
If, after watching the live reunion, Russell’s fans are still convinced that Russell deserves to win, they are as delusional as he is. Rob Mariano explained it perfectly: “the problem with Russell is that he doesn’t play the game to win … he plays a good game to get to the end.” I completely agree: Russell has some incredible game, and over 28 episodes, made some great moves. But he’s also so pig-headed and arrogant and stubborn that he refuses to understand how the game works.
Jeff Probst, thankfully, really questioned Russell during the reunion about whether or not he ever considers jury votes while making moves and behaving like an ass. “I don’t care about that,” Russell said, and continued to say the same thing he’s been saying since he lost in Samoa. Probst didn’t let up—“you haven’t answered what I’ve asked”—and Sandra, hilariously, said, “he doesn’t understand.” He doesn’t.

Read the entire article at:I’m glad Sandra won. I wasn’t rooting for her because she’s an underdog, nor because of her story about her husband serving in Afghanistan. I still think she played the smartest game this season, despite the fact that she didn’t win that many challenges, and she always came up short when implementing her strategies. It takes a lot to hold on despite being on the outs with virtually everyone–from the beginning, when Rob’s gang got voted off one by one, and later, after the merge, when the Heroes were unable to understand what she was planning. She’s literally a survivor. And you’re saying she didn’t do anything this season? It’s a matter of having the heat off you, the same way Colby lasted this long in the season despite being far from his peak in Australia. With him, it was disappointing watching him flounder in tasks and in morale, since it’s a far cry from the guy we saw kick ass down under. In Sandra’s case, that’s the way she’s always played. Considering the competition–let’s forget what actually happened before, okay?–Russell never really stood a chance at winning this season. It wasn’t a vindictive jury: it was a jury that knew what the game is about. In Tom’s words, it’s one-thirds strategy, one-thirds physical, and one-thirds luck. Russell perfected one aspect but Sandra perfected others, and the jury put a bigger premium on that. Now, that’s respect for the game.
http://www.buddytv.com/articles/survivor/survivor-heroes-vs-villains-wh-36604.aspx
Us: Do you truly believe you’re a worthy champion? Your physical game alone was kind of pathetic. Sandra Diaz-Twine: Yes I deserved it! To me, being the weak player physically actually helped me. Colby dominated on his first season, and the second time he played in All-Stars, the players were scared of him and and they got rid of him right away. People always want to take out the strongest ones. Us: But don’t you think it’s a lot easier to play the game when there’s not a target on your back, a la Parvati? SDT: Remember that I won in the Pearl Islands! On the first day, Randy came to me and said that Parvati was going home first because she had already won [Fans vs. Favorites]. So I went to Parvati right away and told her, ‘I’m going to do my best to save you, because if you go home for that reason, I know I’m next.’ I had to work. Us: Was it really Parvati leading Russell out there, or vice-versa? SDT: She was the shot caller. He was the goat, and she had a rope around his neck and wherever she took him to feed, that’s where he ate his grass.

TVGuideMagazine — February 22, 2010 — Survivor's Jerri Manthey and Colby Donaldson talk about working together again, their most difficult seasons and their favorite TV shows.
Colby and Jerri flirt up a storm as well. Very cute.
Jeff Probst Blogs Survivor 20: Heroes vs. Villains
Revealing audio interview above with of all people, Jerri Manthey & Colby Donaldson, both who were members of SURVIVOR: Australia (Season 2) and were together until the final five in the 20th installment, Heroes vs. Villains.
First off, if the audience remains curious, Jerri remains non-committal to Coach, finishing her statement about "them" with "We'll see how real that Dragon Slayer thing is." Second huge reveal IMO, is about the CBS SURVIVOR editing process and that infamous catfight between Amanda and Danielle in Robert Louis Stevenson's bedroom.
You really should listen to the interview but the gist of it goes like this: The camera people did not have enough footage of the whole scene, particularly the moments where Amanda crossed over to Danielle's side of the bed and obtained the clue to a HII.
Colby states that the editing was false, that the hand reaching under the bed was Danielle's not Amanda's, the aired segment was deliberately mucked up and it made him look like a schmuck and left out some key aspects of the situation.
Colby was so upset about "the edit" that in his words he "called Probst" (who is a poker buddy of Donaldson's) and Probst went over the footage, himself determining that the editing was really misleading and Colby got an apology and the editor(s) got a talking to. Colby says the scene was this: They-- he, Danielle, & Amanda (and the ever-present camera people) had been "watching" the movie in Robert Louis Stevenson's bedroom for about an hour.
Below: Screen Caps including the Colby-Danielle-Amanda fracas in Robert Louis Stevenson's bedroom - Survivor 20 - Episode 11: 'Jumping Ship'
Colby saw Danielle find the HII clue in the popcorn that the three of them shared. Initially, Danielle dropped the clue under the bed (forgetting I guess, that during this game previously she packed away larger stuff between her inflated bosoms ...)
It's my assumption based on the dialogue between them--and Colby's new "insights" that when Danielle reached down under the bed for the clue she put there, Amanda, who had been watching like a hawk for the HII clue, saw her do so then and asked the question that the audience heard/saw, "What are you hiding under the bed?"
In fact, according to Colby, Danielle hid the clue behind her pillow and Amanda reached behind and snatched it.
An argument, then a physical tussle ensued (as per Danielle) and Danielle threatened (the camera people, presumably) that she would "sue CBS for assault." Colby recalls that though he favoured neither woman he felt, as he said on the episode, that the situation had played out long enough as the women had been fighting for about an hour(!)
He further opined that if he were Amanda he would have asked Danielle if she would share the clue and go from there.
One last note on the interview with Jerri and Colby. Jerri was on (the phone interview) first and in re: Colby she said things were completely different between them now, that he was a "great comfort" to her out in the jungle, that they had many talks. When Colby came on the line and heard that Jerri had been interviewed he didn't realize that she was still there and commented on how well they got along and how he wished the footage of that had been aired. She was still there, heard him and spoke up and he he sounded genuinely happy to hear her voice. Anyone that knows these two's history would be bowled over. I figure, it's ten years later, they both are single, attractive adventurous types who live in L.A.--why fight?
Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains – Life at Ponderosa: Jerri Pt. 1 Jerri is voted off and joins the jury members at Ponderosa
Survivor: Heroes vs Villains – Life at Ponderosa: Colby Pt. 1 Colby is voted off and joins the jury members at Ponderosa
Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains – Life at Ponderosa: Colby Pt. 2 Colby enjoys relaxation and enjoyment at Ponderosa

First, it's an apt metaphor for the entire series, in that it contains the promise of a blinding revelation, but it's hard to find, and if you do find it and try to penetrate it, it vanishes and in the process spews out all this bullshit.
I am so on board with this assessment of LOST, especially the spewing of "all this bullshit(e)" -part.
I can only enjoy LOST if I think of it as an old skool DC comic book.
Does anyone else besides me remember LOST being referred to (by one of the characters out -of-character, I think) as "Craphole Island"? That could also be a nice fit for "gold hole."

HBO — May 16, 2010 — Season 3 Ep. 0 — Go behind the scenes with Alan Ball and the cast of "True Blood" as they talk about what to expect in the new season. Season 3 premieres Sunday, June 13 only on HBO. For more, log on to HBO.com.
I noticed a couple of small spoilers in snippets of these fun-to-watch convos between the veteran TB actors and the new-this-season ones.
One was with Lafayette and his orderly-boyfriend, Jesus (Kevin Alejandro). I've read that he is some kind of supernatural. However Nelsan (Layfayette) said in the interview snippet, in reference to the many real wolves on set this year that they (he and Jesus) "don't get to do scenes with them." It sort of tells me that new BF is not a were or perhaps not even a shifter. Which doesn't leave too many supernaturals that are known to us. (Vamp?)
Very small Spoiler Two is that in the screen shot of of Sam's lil bro, Tommy, where he's shown with a middle-aged guy, the scene is in Merlotte's and Tommy is bedecked in a Merlotte's t-shirt. I'm going to make a leap and guess that Sam brings Tommy back to Bon Temps with him.

True Blood Season 3 may well be the season of the were and more generally, shifters which from the books I have to state a preference for over "weres." (Sorry, Alcide.)
Who knows, Mr. AB may deal with them in an entirely different way.
I do love the BEWERE collectible (8 of 12) poster though; it may be my fave yet in terms of something I'd like on my wall. This could have something to do with the little dog with big brown eyes who just became a member of our household.
In regard to the True Blood preview which shows werewolfs as "just wolves" I hafta wonder what the griping is about. Could we at least watch the episodes before we are "disappointed?" I'd rather see a beautiful real wolf than some CGI/guy-in-a-wolf-suit combo, wouldn't you?

Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains - Colby's Only Option Air Date: 05/13/10 Clip 1:34
Colby feels that his only hope of staying in the game is to play ball with Russell
He starts by saying "So we (the guys denied by reward winner Jerri, of seeing blowholes & their family members) get back to camp..."More of Russell's bullying... or does he have a softer side? Jerri knows better than anyone remaining. Here "Jerri explains her reasons/(excuses(!) for not choosing Russell to accompany her at the reward" She "had a list" of reasons, she said: She would tell him she took Parvati and Sandra on the family reward when he accosted her...but to her great surprise she didn't really need to use them. After Russell literally pulled her aside after the family outing reward, Jerri's suggestion that she didn't picl Russell because she couldn't leave "Sandra behind at camp" with Rupert and Colby...(something) could happen" was all Russell needed to hear to allow Jerri to put her mind at ease. (For now.)

Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains - Season Finale Predictions Air Date: 05/14/10 Clip 2:46
Web critics including EW's Dalton Ross, assess & opine about the chances for each member of the final five to be the million dollar winner. The problem (as I see it) is that the boot list was leaked at the beginning of this season. Every. single. person has been voted out in the order that the list says. I know of the final three and I've read of the final two and only sane choice for winner. I'm very small fish in the sea so all the critics sharing their thoughts above most certainly are aware of who is rumoured very strongly to be the million-dollar winner yet they are very much keeping straight faces while they expound upon their predictions. I'm talking to you, Dalton (EW) Ross.

Jeff Probst blogs Survivor 20: Heroes vs. Villains
Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains - Preview: Season Finale Air Date: 05/14/10 Clip 2:46
Bold banker Sandra Diaz-Twine (“Pearl Islands”) and sly former boxer Parvati Shallow (“Cook Islands,” “Micronesia”), with whom Hantz aligned himself early in the game, have a chance at becoming the first contestants to win the $1 million grand prize twice. Shallow previously dominated the “Fans vs. Favorites” edition, which pit former players against newbies. “I think Parvati is the best overall player, regardless of whether she wins or loses, to ever play the game of ‘Survivor,’” said Probst. “She came in with a gigantic target on her back, and she managed to not only last in the game but control the game. I think she and Russell will both argue that they’re the ones in control, and both are probably right.” The remaining contestants will compete in two immunity challenges and three tribal councils before the sole survivor is selected on Sunday’s finale at 8 p.m. EDT by a nine-person jury that’s comprised mostly of fallen heroes. Probst promised a close finish in the season’s last immunity challenge, which will feature the final four castaways blindfolded.

The Tribal VoteParvati and Russell have been ruling Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains for so long, it’s hard to remember there are other players. Colby? He’s been worthless: no heart, no skills, no fun. Jerri? Slinking around the shadows, trying to stick with the winning squad. Rupert? Clinging to the idea that he’s one of the good guys. And then there’s Sandra, who’s been playing a delightfully nasty little game all on her own. She’s betrayed the Villains, double-crossed the Heroes, and found an immunity idol she’s kept between herself and her boobs. Last night Sandra was so confusingly awesome and deliciously confrontational, she’s fast becoming one of our eleventh-hour favorites. Not only is Sandra a great Survivor, but she’s an excellent reality-TV personality — an open book who loves to talk shit, have a good cry, and make people furious. And she’s always human: When the players’ loved ones join them in Samoa for a reward challenge, Sandra gets teary explaining why her uncle Fernando’s appearance means so much to her in light of her mom’s death (he seems to mean even more to her than Outback Steakhouse). And the more attention Sandra gets, the more Russell seethes. As we’ve seen time and time again, Russell’s ego is about 10 percent bigger than his game. His desire to squash anyone who challenges his authority clouds his chess master–like ability to visualize his future moves. For weeks, Sandra’s seemingly been gunning for him — she pranced right over to the Heroes after the merge and let them know he was the Villains’ evil patriarch. And ladies have always made Russell uneasy on the show. Last season he built a “dumbass girl alliance” with the intent to betray them all, and has virulent words for the women this week when they all go off on the reward without him: “These girls are a bunch of unappreciative little bitches.” If the key to reality TV is being evil without becoming totally unrelatable, Russell is toeing a dangerous line — with us, and the all-important jury.

5 ‘Survivors’ head for finish line – SurvivorThe 20th season of “Survivor” and its epic battle between the Heroes and Villains ends on Sunday. What’s been most interesting, though, is not good versus evil, but what happened when 20 people who know the game came back to play again.
This season, Tribal Council has hosted blindside after blindside, especially for viewers, as we were shocked by moments such as Parvati giving up both immunity idols or Tyson switching his vote and causing his own elimination.
After Thursday night’s episode, only one person from the once-dominant Heroes tribe remains along with four Villains, although with last week’s alliance switching, that distinction matters less than it did before. It seems like it’s anyone’s game. Even people who’ve already won in previous seasons could win again.

Jeff Probst Blogs ‘Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains’ Episode 13
PRE-TRIBAL Wow. They’re all losing their minds. Sandra: Rupert, loose lips sink ships. Rupert: Yes, they do. Sandra: Yes, they do and they just did. Russell: Are you with me or against me? Sandra: I’m against you, Russell. Parvati: Who invited Boston Rob back to the party. Are you with me or are you against me? Russell: What are you all doing… you’re being dumb. Go ahead and keep playing around. Holler out whatever you want, you’re diggin a deeper and deeper hole. For a moment it was like an episode of Lost – nothing made sense. Everybody was all over the map going into Tribal Council. Just like I like it… TRIBAL COUNCIL And the craziness continued at Tribal Council. What happened to these guys? They’ve lost their bloody minds I tell you. It was fantastic. Parvati was the highlight: From her worthy impression of a cigar lounge, burlesque dancer, nightclub singer with a stoagie dangling from her lips to her 180 degree head turn toward Russell when asked about the “top villain” question. It was all money.

I'm completely unsurprised by what Ausiello seems to find shocking (this has happened before). When Dexter Season 5 opens up the fallout from Rita's murder by the Trinity Killer is being dealt with.
Two of the big questions as we were left hanging off the cliff at season 4's end was: What's gonna happen to Dexter and Rita's children and what's gonna happen to Dexter?
I didn't think the show would take the cheesy way out and just plunk Rita's kids Astor and Cody with their grandparents and maybe have Dex do single serial killer dad duty with his and Rita's son, Harrison. Also, there's the little matter of Dex being the spouse of the victim which makes him a prime suspect and possibly not having much say in his children's welfare-- at least initially.
As we know, with wife Rita now dead Dex's only close relative is his beloved sister, the most un-maternal choice one could imagine, sister Deb. And that's what the spoiler is. The kids go to Deb and they all move into Deb's (formerly Dexter's) apartment on the harbour .
Q: I can’t go another week without getting some Dexter season 5 scoopage!
Ausiello: ... You’re never going to believe who ends up caring for Dexter’s three motherless children. Go ahead, hazard a guess. Dex’s in-laws, you say? Wrong! It’s Deb! New showrunner Chip Johannessen tells me that in the wake of Rita’s brutal slaying, Dex turns to his sister (played by Michael C. Hall’s real-life spouse, Jennifer Carpenter) to help care for the kids. And if that’s not problematic enough, all five of them will move into Dex’s old (and rather teensy) apartment! “It’s partially funny and partially not,” says Johannessen. “Deb is not exactly the most maternal person. Nobody quite knows what they’re doing, so there’s a certain kind of struggle to cope.”Q:
Ausiello: You know that Trinity killed Rita. I know that Trinity killed Rita. And Dexter knows that Trinity killed Rita. The police and the FBI, however, don’t know that Trinity killed Rita. And who’s almost always ID’d as the prime suspect in a murder case? That’s right, the spouse. Long story short: Dexter’s nightmare has only just begun.Read more at EW

UPDATE: BE SURE TO READ MY CURRENT COVERAGE OF SONS OF ANARCHY on my sister blog
Sons of Anarchy Scoop:
Ausiello: Casting scoop! Acting vet James Cosmo has booked a six-episode arc as Father Kellan Ashby, an Irish Catholic priest who takes a confession and is eventually forced to condone the ultimate punishment.
Read more at EW
I've not ever heard of James Cosmo until now. Apparently, Ausiello hadn't either seeing as though he had his last name botched. Google was kind enough to suggest this guy. Does he look like a stereotypical Irish Catholic priest? Um, only totally!
Stephen King has landed a guest role on Sons Of Anarchy.
The author signed up for the appearance after producers learned that he is a fan of the show, Entertainment Weekly reports.
King, who will star in the third season of the show, is expected to play a 'quiet loner' who appears when Gemma (Katey Sagal) needs help.
He will join the cast for the third episode of the season, which is scheduled to begin on FX in September.
This is pretty cool news. Do you think though that is going to be much of a stretch for Stephen King to play a 'quiet loner'?
Hal Holbrook has also signed up for a guest spot in the show.
The Emmy Award-winning actor will guest star in the third season of the FX series, which will air in September.
Holbrook will play the part of Nate Madock, the father of Katey Sagal's character Gemma Teller Morrow, in the motorcycle outlaw drama.
The 85-year-old will appear in four episodes of the show, which went back into production in late April.
The series, which also stars Ron Perlman, is ranked the highest-rated single season of an FX show in the network's history.

I didn't even know Hal Holbrook was still alive! He is the shizz!! Ever see him as Mark Twain? When I picture Mark Twain I picture Holbrook! Wonderful that he's getting four eppys!

Hm. Looks like that sleuthing Ausiello has solved the mystery of "who" the "straight" True Blood heartthrob is that ends up hooking up sexually in season three with a man. According to the May12.2010 EW item there's a couple of reasons to think that Alexander Skarsgård may be one-half of the guy-guy hook-up (separate from a make out session with two other True Blood's leading men. Vote in my poll on the identity of who makes up the make-out couple.) The other half of the man-man coupling is True Blood's new gay vamp, Talbot (Theo Alexander).
(Earlier this spring) Alexander told People.com that he recently shot a “very graphic [nude] scene with a man” on True Blood. Cut to a week later and TV Guide Magazine is reporting that one of the show’s hetero heartthrobs will hook up with Talbot this season...
[caption id="attachment_3128" align="alignright" width="400" caption="Season 3 - 'Talbot' (Theo Alexander) Source: HBO"][/caption]
Alexander Skarsgård has a simple rule when it comes to dates: Focus on the girl, not the activity."I try not to plan it out," the True Blood star, 33, told PEOPLE on Saturday at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of his new movie Metropia in New York.
"It's not about what you do, but who you do it with – that's most important," says Skarsgård, who has been linked with his Straw Dogs costar Kate Bosworth. "If you are with someone who is awesome and having a good time, you can sit at a bus station and still have fun."
Not only is Skarsgård spontaneous, he's also comfortable in his own skin – a good thing, considering the amount of nudity on True Blood. The actor says he doesn't mind removing his clothes, despite being teased about it occasionally by his five brothers and one sister.
[caption id="attachment_4314" align="alignleft" width="240" caption="Coachella 2010 - Kate Bosworth, Alexander Skarsgard"]
[/caption]
I'm not a prude at all," he says. "I shot a very, very graphic scene two days ago with a man. I am from Sweden, and it's different there. If it makes sense, I'll just do it. And to me, so far, it's made sense every single time I've got naked or made out on the show."

Honestly, I think the EW 12 different-collectible covers and this dead portrait thing is uninspired. It does nothing for me and it's missing Charlie Pace (Dominic Monaghan) and Daniel Faraday (Jeremy Davies) while inserting nominally important people like "Naomi" (in the afro) and "Libby."
We've been hit over the head for years now with a shoulders-up shot of Locke in a coffin--so this seems just like more of the same--minus any tie-in to the actual LOST storyline.
If they were going to fish around on the "C" or "D"- lists why not go with someone like Neil Frogurt?

This is an ordinary Wednesday morning in April 2010 at around 8.30 am. Original time was 8 minutes that were compressed into 2 minutes, so everything is 4 times faster than in reality. The sound is original.
These cyclists cross a one way bus lane (also used by taxis and municipal vehicles), two light rail tracks and then a one way street that can be used by private vehicles.
This is one of the busiest junctions in Utrecht a city with a population of 300,000. No less than 18,000 bicycles and 2,500 buses pass here every day. And yet Google Street View missed it. Because private motorized traffic is restricted here.
Behind the camera is a railway (you can hear the squeaking sounds of the trains passing) and the main railway station is very close too. A number of rental bikes from the station pass and many of the cyclists will have come by train for the first part of their commute.
For those who frown upon the total absence of bike helmets in this video, consider these findings from a US study:
"Cycling in the Netherlands is much safer than in the USA. The Netherlands has the lowest non-fatal injury rate as well as the lowest fatality rate, while the USA has the highest non-fatal injury rate as well as the highest fatality rate. Indeed, the non-fatal injury rate for the USA is about 30 times higher than for the Netherlands.
Injury rate per million km cycled: USA 37.5; NL 1.4
Fatality rate per 100 million km cycled: USA 5.8; NL 1.1"
From: Pucher, John and Buehler, Ralph (2008) 'Making Cycling Irresistible: Lessons from The Netherlands, Denmark and Germany'.
I want a bike. I miss riding my bike.
I totally love that there is a total absence of bike helmets in this video.
There are only a couple of standards scenario when you fall from a bike, only one of which in many years of cycling have I personally participated in:
You wipe out on your own and almost always your limbs take the brunt of it. I have a very nice scar on my knee to show for it. I have never hit my head while bicycling. Helmets are for toddlers.
Just as a P.S., I'm curious how the rate of obesity in Utrecht compares with an American city of equal population. Something tells me they ain't equal.

April 09, 2010 — The official music video for the Dead Weather song "Die By The Drop," from the forthcoming album Sea of Cowards UPDATE/ Sea of Cowards drops May 11th courtesy of Third Man Records.
I've liked, maybe that's the wrong word-- I've admired Jack White since first hearing the White Stripes on the radio and then (even though I'm in no way into country music) upon his collaboration with Loretta Lynn. I'm at a stage of life where one sort of gets lazy about seeking out new music--good new music--and oftentimes I'll fall back into listening to stuff I grew up with. Though it may be comprised of some great rock tunes, after so many listens the vintage stuff has become safe and predictable--at least as a steady diet. I know exactly what I'm gonna get when I listen to it having vetted it many years agoThe Dead Weather, which includes Alison Mosshart, Jack White, Jack Lawrence and Dean
Fertita (www.thedeadweather.com), is neither safe nor predictable and never having heard them play before I was quite ready to not dig their sound after downloading the free "Hustle and Cuss"
MP3 (see below). However, and you won't hear me say this too often, I was dead wrong in my presumption.
I played and replayed "Hustle and Cuss" and it sounded better each time. I went looking for more and found "Die By The Drop" which was every bit as clever lyrically and infectious sonically. I pulled up YouTube videos of The Dead Weather's prior LP, "Horehound" and started groovin' on tracks from that, too.
Alison Mosshart does the female lead vocals for The Dead Weather. She's a perfect counterpoint to Jack White with a voice that can ably carry the blues-rock-grungy sound of The Dead Weather--no small achievement. Also, I may as well state she's gorgeous and yeah, I have a bit of a girl-crush on her that was fully recognized as I dug further back into tracks she'd recorded with her band, "The Kills." I love her voice and attitude.
The Dead Weather are a really tight band with so many influences running through their music that It's nearly impossible to categorize them which is probably fine with them. No one likes to be put in a box though The Dead Weather probably wouldn't mind if you put them in a sleeve and a jacket.
I've pulled up a couple of their videos from a live performance they did about a week ago as well as one from their first LP so you can scroll down and check them out 'em out and see what you think or more importantly how you feel.
The Dead Weather will once again hit the road this Summer in support of the May 11th release of Sea of Cowards. The new dates kick off the second week of July and will culminate with a performance at Brooklyn's Prospect Park in August.Tweet-To-Download for a free "Hustle and Cuss" MP3 and automatically be entered to win a VIP package and flyaway to Bonnaroo!

Lara Pulver has been cast in season 3 as Sookie's fairy godmother,"Claudine":
British actress Lara Pulver has joined the "True Blood" cast for Season 3 in the recurring role of Sookie’s fairy godmother, Claudine, a spokesperson for HBO confirmed. Best known as "Isabella" in the BBC series "Robin Hood," Pulver has also starred in several theatre productions in London's West End. "Claudine" is Sookie's fairy godmother in The Southern Vampire Mysteries books, which "True Blood" is based on. If the TV series follows the books at all, we will probably learn more about the origin of Sookie's mind reading powers and her family history as Claudine is related to Sookie. Fairies can live to a very old age and they're very attractive to humans and almost irresistible to vampires. Their superhuman strength, though, places them on a whole new playing field...

This is so exciting! I am not a "book-ie" per se but I have read The Southern Vampire Mysteries and I loved the Sookie and Claudine dynamic. I'm really glad that Alan Ball has chosen to bring Claudine into the True Blood-verse and I'm assuming her twin brother, Claude, will make an appearance, too. Claude was much more of a minor character but the potential humour to be mined if he does stop by...well, you'll see. Bringing "real" (as opposed to part) fairies into the True Blood world also ups the dramatic tension as vampires are hugely attracted to fairies. Fairies understandably, want nothing to do with them. As you recall from the near-end of Season 2 (which I hope y'all are re-watching now) Sookie discovered an ability beyond simple telepathy while fending off Maryann. See pic below:
True Blood's "Sookie" (Anna Paquin) in S2.10 (22):
Could Sookie be a fairy in addition to being a telepath? Would that explain the strong attraction that vampires seem to have for her? I'm sure it is gonna be quite fun to find out what exactly was going on when Sookie touched Maryann.
"Michael Steger cast as "Tony" True Blood Season 3"
In other True Blood casting news, Michael Steger will guest star in season 3 as "Tony," a prostitute who gets picked up by King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare) because of his resemblance to his current steady, Talbot (Theo Alexander). Steger will appear in one episode of the drama’s upcoming third season and may return on a recurring basis in season 4.

True Blood’s sexy, new gay Greek vampire, Talbot (Theo Alexander, debuting in the HBO hit’s June 20 episode), will cheat on his 3,000-year-old sugar-daddy boyfriend of 700 years, King of Mississippi Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare), with one of these four straight Bon Temps studs: Bill (Stephen Moyer), Eric (Alexander Skarsgård), Jason (Ryan Kwanten) or Sam (Sam Trammell)!Though he’s keeping his mouth shut about his secret lover’s identity (yes, it’s the one most of you are hoping for), Theo tells me, “Talbot loves Russell immensely because he’s [his] maker, but like any marriage, it has its ups and downs. One thing we have a huge fight over is that I always have to stay home. Sometimes I have to straighten him out and take drastic measures to save the marriage.”
Theo, currently back home in Greece, where he’s worrying that his mother’s “miles of spanakopita” will make him appear fatter in shirtless love scenes he has yet to shoot, also can’t reveal how Theo and Russell get hooked up with the Louisiana denizens, offering only that, as royalty, “we have ties to all the kingdoms.” And here’s a big gay bonus: A scene early in the season will reveal two of the four straight characters making out—with each other!
Wow. How does one put this inoffensively?
First, isn't the gay aspect of this short article sort of...overblown? Especially in the context of True Blood where the lines of sexuality are, if not explicitly crossed onscreen (yet) have been strongly implied to be blurred.
I mean, think about it. You may be born hetero but after living several lifetimes as a vampire noshing on both men and women, wouldn't it make sense that an attraction to either sex --bisexuality-- be kind of "normal?"
I'm loving the idea that two of Bon Temps (True Bloods' to be more precise) "four straight studs" will show us another side of themselves! Despite True Blood having pushed if not torn right in half the envelope, I just know Alan Ball has plenty more to show and tell us. In Mr. Ball's previous HBO series, the unparalled "Six Feet Under," he presented a loving, long-lasting homosexual relationship with honesty and sensitivity. This being True Blood I'm not expecting the healthiest of relationships but who knows? That's part of the fun.
I'm really interested to hear how you feelabout the upcoming storylines that include homosexuality, bisexuality and that old standby heterosexuality.
First, tell me, Who you think is going to hook up?

TRUE BLOOD OFFICIAL Season 3 Poster (HBO):
TRUE BLOOD: Based on the popular Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris, this hit drama series was created by Alan Ball, creator of HBO's Emmy®-winning series "Six Feet Under." The show tells the ongoing tale of Sookie (Golden Globe winner Anna Paquin), a waitress with telepathic gifts – and an irresistible attraction to 173-year old vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) who went missing at the end of season two. With the assistance (and often hindrance) of locals – including her newly inspired brother Jason (Ryan Kwanten), shape-shifting boss Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell), in-mourning pal Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley), Tara's vamp-linked cousin Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis), on-the-wagon detective Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer), vampire sheriff Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård) and teen vamp Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) – Sookie desperately tries to locate her fiancé as season three opens, ending up in a netherworld of human and undead interlopers, among them the Vampire King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington (Denis O'Hare) and his followers, a pack of vicious werewolves who feed on vampire blood.
TRUE BLOOD Episode #25 Synopsis: "Bad Blood": Sookie turns to Eric for help finding Bill; Andy urges Jason to stay the course; Sam reconnects with his past; Tara seeks refuge from her grief. (Written by Brian Buckner; directed by Daniel Minahan.)
Episode #26: "Beautifully Broken": Russell Edgington, the Vampire King of Mississippi, concocts a plan to consolidate his power. Eric remembers his past; Sam tests the strength of his family bonds; Tara finds an ally in a shady vampire named Franklin Mott. (Written by Raelle Tucker; directed by Scott Winant.)
Episode #27: "It Hurts Me Too": In search of Bill, Sookie heads to Jackson, Mississippi in the company of Alcide, a werewolf bodyguard assigned by Eric to protect her. Jason is distracted from his police exams; Bud reaches the end of his rope; Arlene copes with unexpected news; Franklin charms Tara, and gets Jessica out of a jam; Eric bequeaths a gift to Lafayette. Haunted by visions from his past, Bill makes a surprising pledge of allegiance. (Written by Alexander Woo; directed by Michael Lehmann.)

It is pretty awesome getting details, however skimpy about what direction True Bood Season 3 is headed in. It seems thaat quite literally with Sam off in search of his roots, Sookie headed to Mississippi with Alcide, and Bill taken to parts unknown that the lead characters will be scattered for a while. Kind of intriguing too,--" Eric "bequeaths a gift to Lafayette"? Huh? Eric doesn't do anything unless there's a possibility of a payoff for himself--now or down the line so what can this all be about? It's good to see that Andy is referred to as "on-the-wagon detective, Andy Bellefleur," but it's troubling to hear that "Bud reaches the end of his rope." Taken together it sounds like Andy Bellefluer is stepping up and Sheriff Bud Dearborne stepping down. I'm glad Andy is getting his head clear but I love the comic interludes that Sheriff Dearborne provides and don't want to see him go! I'm not a typical fan (if there is such a thing). It's a given on a show that Alan Ball creates that I love the central characters but I take a lot of enjoyment from the supporting characters like William Sanderson (Bud) as well. They tend to be pretty great actors and they shine in their short time on-screen.

UPDATE/ MARIANA KLAVENO as Lorena, STEVEN MOYER as Bill Compton and DENIS OHARE as Russell Edgington in TRUE BLOOD Season 3:
The article excerpt below is from the lovely and talented foil to both to both Eric and Bill--so far. Lorena (Mariana Klaveno) is a True Blood character who intrigues--especially her history and now present, with Bill Compton. Since Ms. Klaveno discusses a few juicy details I'll include them. It's really fun to hear her perspective.
Here she is as Lorena as she turns Bill:
Lorena and Bill 1935. : Lorena Releases Bill — Very emotional scene, we see that Bill is Lorena's weak point...as a woman who wants to keep a man who doesn't want or love her.
Q: Please, please, some scoop on True Blood! A: The HBO soap is adding yet another recurring hunk to its cast: Tony, a twentysomething male hustler whose drug addiction and resemblance to bloodsucker Talbot make him easy pickins for the vamp’s obsessed mate, Russell.
Source: Ausiello True Blood Season 3 Casting Call: Episode 3.10 – “I Smell a Rat”
A casting call notice is out for several characters for True Blood Season 3 Episode 3.10, entitled “I Smell a Rat“, written by Kate Barnow and Elisabeth R. Finch. Filming is slated to begin May 7th. The episode 3.10 is directed by Michael Lehmann.
The requirement is for eleven characters, many with "attitudes" and some who speak fluent Spanish. Here’s the list.
(So funny that the characters have "attitudes." I thought that was a requirement of all actors on True Blood! -Cyn)
Tony – Tall male (at least 6 feet), Caucasian and in his 20’s. Considered “tall, dark and sexy in a runaway junkie kind of way”, he’s a prostitute out for a fix. He’s picked up by Russell because he has some resemblance to Talbot. Tony has no idea what he’s in for. Role has 2 scenes, 6 lines, guest star with possibly strong recurrence in Season 4.
From Sam’s Past Jon – A cocky and sneering, slick con man in his 20’s to 30’s. Seen in a flashback to 2003 from Sam’s past. Guest star role.
Charlene – Dressed in business attire, this hot 20-something female is someone from Sam’s past. Guest star role.
"Vampire Haters"
Jade - A female in her 30’s with big hair. Wanting all “fangers” to pay, she and husband, Vern, go to Bill’s house to commit a hate crime. But Jessica quickly has Jade at her mercy. Guest star role. Vern - Male, 30’s, angry and ignorant goon. He and wife, Jade, go to Bill’s house to teach them “fangers” a lesson or two. Very quickly Vern discovers he’s in over his head. Guest star role.
"Media" TV Anchor – Male news anchor reports that hate crimes against vampires are expected to rise. Role has 1 scene, 1 speech. TV Newscaster – Reports on TV that Russell is still missing and information on his whereabouts is forthcoming. Role has 1 scene, 1 speech.
"The Law" Vampire Lawyer – Hired to prepare a last will and testament for Eric. Role has 1 scene, 2 speeches, 2 lines. Female Cop - As she approaches Russell, she shines a flashlight on him and tells him to turn around. Role has 1 scene, 2 lines.
"Spanish Speaking" Mexican Husband and Wife – Young couple in their 20’s appear in a flashback to the 1930’s. Both actors must be fluent in Spanish and deliver a small chant in Spanish. Mexican Woman – Aged between 65 and 70 and appears in a flashback to the 1930’s. Must be fluent in Spanish and deliver a chant in Spanish.
Season 3 of True Blood premieres on HBO June 13th.
Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) is missing... and though it has not yet been revealed which silver chain-wielding entity took Bill it wouldn't be unfair to suspect that Bill's maker, the pathologically smitten Lorena, may have had a hand in his disappearance if not the hand. As has been the case since HBO's "True Blood" debuted, there is uncertainty about how the story will progress because it happened a particular way in Charlaine Harris' "Sookie Stackhouse" novels. Though clearly a suspect in the eyes of "Sookie Stackhouse" novel-readers as well as other True Blood fans, Mariana Klaveno is keeping mum about that particular plot point, saying only that the bad-to-the bone Lorena is indeed returning for the third season of "True Blood," set to premiere June 13. Even though Mariana wouldn't say whether or not Lorena is involved in the kidnapping of Vampire Bill, she did confess that she'll have plenty of screen time with Stephen Moyer this season.
SOURCE: IMDb.com Via: The True Blood Weekly Newsletter
"Yes, we do spend a good deal of time together in season three," she told us. "I'm hoping that the fans will be a little bit surprised by it, because there will be some new dynamics in our relationship that are new and [have to deal] with that cliffhanger." But that doesn't necessarily mean she'll be responsible for Bill's abduction, as Mariana informed us: "I think you'll see some sides of Lorena that will surprise you. She'll be in certain situations where you think she'll do something, and she will not [do what you expect]." Additionally, Mariana teased that there are some flashback sequences in store for the third season. Although she couldn't get into the specifics of these scenes, she did elaborate on why flashbacks work so well within the framework of "True Blood" and for her character in particular. "I love the flashbacks, because you get to step into that time period and play around a bit — I think the flashbacks help build that into the character." ...adding layers to the character... I don't actually know what her history was in every single decade... so I've kind of had to do my own loose sketch of how I thought she spent some centuries." Whether Lorena and Bill come together through flashbacks or a present day conflict, Mariana promised one thing — there will be plenty of heat between them. "I think you can definitely expect much more turbulence between them," she said....I don't know if they'll ever be at peace with each other, but there might be some real heartfelt connection."
Also in re: Season 3, Mariana said,
"I think we can expect more succubus costumes," she laughed. "I cannot emphasize that enough." Read more at Hollywood Crush.

Eric & Sookie Find An Exit (True Blood) (2 x 08 - Timebomb)
Anna Paquin is Nylon Magazine's September cover girl. If you check out the online article you'll see what a lovely job they did with the photos of Anna.
I really wish since she is so often quoted, that reporters would stop asking her about the nudity on True Blood. It's such an American hang-up as Anna politely explains below.
I commented on this when her very tame initial encounter with Dream!Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) was aired and YouTube flipped out--not even allowing a shot of Skarsgård nude in profile with his leg covering "everything" and the tiniest bit of rump but no cheek showing. Down went the fan's videos almost as quickly as they were put up.
I can't believe that a premium cable channel's choice of content is a big deal.
Americans are fine with the worst kind of violence and degradation on television but as Anna notes a bit of nipple is a crazy big deal. And that just makes no sense at all.

Anna Paquin, on her Nude Scenes:
“I
don’t think a naked body is particularly shocking or interesting… It’s
not the culture I was raised in. I was not brought up in the United
States. I don’t share the [attitude] that you can have graphic
violence, but – God forbid – you see someone’s nipples.”

Find out what everyone had to say as they cast their votes
Jeff Probst blogs ‘Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains’ episode 12 | EW.comAfter Russell played the idol at the last tribal council it was put back in play and boy what fun it was to be able to read the clue to the contestants. You could anticipate the craziness that was going to take place back at camp. And whadaya know, Sandra the lippiest Survivor in history finds the idol. The moment just after she found it – where she is trying to hide it on her person and then ultimately hides it in the jungle – is the kind of moment that makes all of us on the production side smile with glee and jump for joy. Those real moments are fantastic.
But even better than the Sandra moment was Rupert deciding to put a rock in his pocket and pretend it’s an idol. And it worked. If not for this brilliant decision and subtle Emmy worthy performance, Rupert was a shoo-in to be voted out. This gave him life and a chance to stay in the game. Sometimes that is all you need. A chance.
Rupert’s acting was a performance that nobody could appreciate more than Russell. Ironic, given that Russell is the one that fell for it the hardest. I’m telling you the man is exhausted. But it was fun to see Russell fail, right? It’s always fun to see the guy on top… drop. It reminded me how many times Russell has been right in the past. Not this time. He is slowly crumbling and if he doesn’t get it together quickly and wake up, Russell will not make it to the end.
Russell Hantz’s Survivor Tribemate Says Their Alliance “Felt Like Being in an Abusive Relationship” – E! Online
Danielle:It felt like being in an abusive relationship. He's so controlling. You couldn't do anything without him psychotically staring at you throughout the entire day. God forbid you went over and talked to somebody, he'd be right up there with you. And as soon as you walked away from that person, he would say, "What did you just say to her?" Then he'd run up to you, and if the stories didn't match up, he'd automatically start trying to get you voted off. He was threatening everybody. It was just crazy. So why did Russell target you instead of Parvati?
D.D.: I think he was threatened by me. After the fight with Amanda, he saw that I was starting to get control over the game. He knew he couldn't control me anymore. I think he knew me and Parvati had a really tight alliance and were going to get him voted off next. That was the plan. Me, Parvati and Sandra spoke about it, right before we went to Tribal Council, that we needed to get Russell off—now was the time. I think he sensed that. He said in the beginning he doesn't like to play a game for a million dollars against strong females.
Finally, Danielle, how'd you end up in a catfight with Amanda over the hidden Immunity Idol clue?
D.D.: I was so blown away. I did not see that coming. The look in Amanda's eye when she grabbed that clue from underneath me. They edited it—[the Idol] wasn't on the floor, it was actually behind me, up against the pillow, so I was almost sitting on it. She literally grabbed it from underneath me. I could not believe she did that. I know we're playing a game for a million dollars, but I wouldn't have done that. I would've tried to figure out another way to get it, or have her let me read it. I was shocked. I felt like she invaded my space.
Read more: E! Online
Read More...Russell was so crazy. He watched your every move. Everybody was telling him what was going on and I felt like he was so intuitive with everything that if I did go over to Rupert and Colby and said, “Let’s get rid of Russell,” they would have gone to him and told him, “Danielle is trying to get you voted off.” That would have caused a whole big thing and I was already on the chopping block. My next move was to vote him off. Parvati and Sandra [Diaz-Twine] and I aligned that day and said, “Russell has to go next. We just have to get through this Tribal Council and he is going next.”
[Note: Russell had won the Immunity Challenge, so they did have to wait for next Tribal Council to eliminate Russell.]
ET: Do you think the fact that you didn’t see Russell’s season of “Survivor” air before you filmed this one is part of the reason he is so successful?
Danielle DiLorenzo: I think he had a huge advantage because no one knew who he was and how he played the game. He got to see how we all played the game. I know he did his homework on everybody. Had we seen his season, he wouldn’t have made it past day two.
Rupert not playing the idol and all the votes for Candice freaked Russell out, and he admitted, “I’m not fully in control of this game now.” The rupture in the space-time continuum caused by that confession quickly closed when Russell’s ego regained its gravitational force and he corrected himself, saying, “me and Parvati are equally in control” and then, “I’m going to take control.” He did that by letting his insecurity get to him—again!—this time over Danielle and Parvati’s relationship. Russell said, “It’s supposed to be me and Parvati,” and that’s the kind of statement that makes the Parvati/Russell conspiracy theory sound even worse. Supposed to be? What? Anyway, Russell told each woman that the other was targeting her, which prompted Parvati to say, immediately, “I want to talk to her” because “my final three from day one wants me out.” Russell hadn’t planned on this because myopic worldview doesn’t permit him to consider possibilities beyond the one he’s decided is right, so he threatened Parvati instead: “If you do that, you’re out of this game. I promise you.”

[caption id="attachment_4069" align="aligncenter" width="359" caption="True Blood - 'Vamp Stamp' #7 of 12 Collectible Posters"][/caption]
Above: Click to see & download full-size poster
Here is lucky number 7 in the season 3 True Blood series of collectible posters being offered up by HBO both FREE for download and for sale at the HBO site (and soon, HERE!)
Some of the reaction to this one is that the band-aid looks like "boobs," that the poster is "not as good" as the Cup of Joe and Watercooler posters that preceded it, and seemingly in the minority, that it is pretty clever.
This is poster art and as such I hesitate to judge it harshly--even if I were of the opinion that it is not as good as another. Clearly whomever thought it up liked the idea as well as the myriad others that had to be involved in getting it to the final 12.
My opinion matters not but I'll share it just the same. I love clever use of white/light space. "Vamp Stamp" has that element. I'm amused that the circular aspects of the band-aid remind me of the teeny band-aids I keep on hand for blisters and such. It does also remind me of boobs. If I had to come down "yay" or nay for boobs, having worn a pair for some time, I sort of have an affinity for them so Vamp Stamp has that going for it. Come to think of it, the True Blood-verse is a place where keeping some Vamp Stamps on hand could be quite practical and I'm nothing if not practical so to sum up, I like poster #7.

Lovey26xx — May 04, 2010 — -- WARNING: Contains some strong language.--
True Blood: Minisode #2 (Jessica)
Minisode Preview:
I thought Jessica's minisode quite clever. I'm really enjoying Alan Ball's story-telling. He is just so good with a turn of a phrase " "dirty whore" repeated about 10 times in 2 minutes by the "moralistic stranger" in this clip is one example but I liked even more when Jessica stood up for herself (though after glamouring the old coot), was when she admonished him to be grateful that he did not have to "tear people open for food."
Cut straight to the heart (no pun) of this conversation and the extended one too, about the morality--or lack of it in vampires.
Also this scene really seems like it came just prior to Jessica fanging that trucker at the end of season 2 after things had gone horribly wrong at Hoyt's house, resulting in Jessica fanging Mrs. Foytenberry who was under Maryann's spell and acting uber-annoying.
When Bill Made Jessica A Vampire
'To Love Is to Bury.' (Season One) Bill fulfills the conditions of his sentence, although Jessica doesn't turn (out) as expected.

Jessica's being made a vampire as Bill's punishment for killing bartender "Longshadow" just prior to Longshadow snapping Sookie's neck.
It's against vampire law to kill another vampire for the reason Bill did so Jessica was brought to him. You can get the details in the videos above.

THE CAT FIGHT
Wow. Wouldn’t you like to see the left over footage from that scene? Let’s set the stage. Amanda dressed in bikini bottoms with a hoodie on top is surveying the room, looking for the clue. Danielle, dressed much the same way, is on the bed eating popcorn and also wondering where the clue might be. Colby is the only one actually watching the damn movie and he downs a handful of popcorn.
Danielle finds the clue in the bowl of popcorn. She carefully removes it and then tries to hide it from the others by dropping it on the floor next to her. As Amanda continues her hunt for the clue she spots it on the floor.
Amanda grabs it. Danielle tries to grab it back. The cat fight is on.
Two women, dressed only in bikini’s who haven’t showered in weeks fighting over a small piece of parchment in a hotel room while the seemingly oblivious cowboy from Texas continues to watch a movie on the television...
Amanda has it. Danielle wants it back. So... Who does the note belong to? ...
Does it belong to Danielle because she found it? Does it belong to Amanda because she found it after Danielle dropped it on the floor? Should they have to share it? Or does it go to the winner of The cat fight? ... Of course I would opt for the last scenario – let them fight it out and the winner gets it, cause let’s be honest, that would be fun to watch.
INSIGHT: From a rules point of view, there is no rule that covers something this unique. Neither Danielle nor Amanda had a clear-cut case of possession, so it was up in the air.
My call would have been to have them “work it out” which probably would have resulted in all three of them sharing it together. That’s definitely what I would have said if I had been Amanda or Colby, “Let’s work it out together.” I would never have let Danielle walk away with it by herself.
Yes let's talk about Colby's interference in Amanda & Danielle's exchange. Did Amanda ask for Colby's help? It sure did not look like it. (see photo)
Even though Danielle stumbled across the clue, she "hid" it in plain sight just under the bed. Amanda found it but as Danielle herself says in explanation of the physical exchange she had with Amanda, "Finders keepers." That's right, Danielle. Amanda found it because you didn't hide it fast or securely enough.
Given the situation of both women finding the clue to the HII the only reasonable conclusion would have been to have them both read it. Colby should have had NO part to play because based on his account of a full dinner with wine and the evidence of 2/3's a bottle having been imbibed in the room, there was a deep need for someone with a clear-headed assessment. Does this guy look like he fits the bill?
He looks like a typical guy trying tune out and watch the TV. He's pretty zoned--which is his due. He just had no place making judgment calls against his own former tribemate and then-current alliance member.
So Colby screwed not only Amanda but himself as well, because back at camp the next day Danielle told Russell of her good fortune (Russ could now add another notch on his sap-o-meter regarding how easily "Russell Wentz" will take down golden-boy, Colby. <shudder>) Russell, using Danielle's clue from the Stevenson sleepover-catfight, was all over finding the HII and he did so with very little effort. (Why are HII's so easy to find? Under a small rock?!? Seriously?)
Probst has this to say about The Hidden Immunity Idols of future Survivor series:
RUSSELL FINDS A THIRD IDOL
“I am the king of hidden immunity idols.” I’d have to agree. Over the last two seasons Russell has proven that he has an uncanny ability to find the idols. In fact, he’s so good at it that he’s forever changed how we will handle idols in future seasons.
INSIGHT: Next season it will take more than just looking under a rock to find a hidden idol. I won’t give away what we’re doing, but in planning our creative for next season we coined a phrase, “The Russell Factor” and it influenced how we will play the hidden idol next season."
The 'Russell factor' is causing some online Survivor boards to explode in criticism of 1. The frequent opportunities for players to find hidden Immunity Idols and 2. more specifically, how Russell truly is an immunity magnet. Maybe psychopaths have some extra perception?
Probst seems to be hinting in Jeff Probst blogs survivor that Russell finds yet another HII in this game which would explain a lot of the buzz I've heard. Remember, Russell has given his HII away twice to Parvati--though now he says no more. We'll see if Parvati turns on the charm full blast and if Survivor's resident "toothless troll" as Courtney calls him, can resist her feminine wiles.
In closing:
With Amanda gone, my favourite player is as well.
Whether it was her strength and fearlessness in the challenges, her youth & radiant beauty or her strategical play in SURVIVOR, Amanda Kimmel was/is a wonderful role model of a strong, fit woman--and a true hottie. Her niceness and her willingness to share her feelings with the camera made Amanda a sympathetic "character," though in truth, she is as Jeff Probst has said more than once, constantly strategizing.
I'm amazed when people complain that she cries sometimes. You go live outside with no food for 100 days and see if you don't cry occasionally, is what I have to say to that dumb line of complaint about her.
Side note: When she started this installment of the game Amanda Kimmel she weighed 144 lbs. which many people would knock as "fat." In case you are curious she only shed 12 pounds in 30 days in Samoa. If you look at her next to most all the women and about half or more of the men she's as tall or taller. She looks to be maybe 6' tall -- so 144 lbs.? Pfft!
As noted, Amanda Kimmel "strategized" herself into over 100 days on Survivor with two trips to the final jury vote (getting no votes, sadly, due to her inability to articulate why she deserved to win). She set some records and in sum, was one of the better players ever, IMO.
Since she is now only 25 years old, I'd love to see her in say, 5 years. That I think is the biggest thing that knocked Amanda down--her wavering certitude in her own "greatness." Confidence could have taken Amanda farther in the game and if she were to gain that--and going from age 25 to say, 30 will help a great deal--and play again, I would tune in a few years just to see her.
In other news, I'm not going to spoil it here but the boot list I saw has been exactly right since day 1. Much like LOST, ironically the show modeled on SURVIVOR it seems there have been major leaks in what went on as the SURVIVOR Heroes vs. Villains game played on. This edition (20) of SURVIVOR was made last summer. That's a really long time to ask the multitudes involved with the show to not talk amongst themselves, never mind others.

Now here’s where it gets bad. By now you know that Amanda has been voted out. Surprisingly, this is the first time she has been voted out ever. In her other two seasons, she hung in there until the end. She could’ve hung in there until the end this time… if she’d stood up for herself and kept the immunity idol clue. But instead, Danielle had to whine like a preschooler and she whined to Colby (of all people) as if she was fighting over a toy with her sibling and had to get Daddy into it. “Can you tell her to give it back to me?” she said to Colby after mildly struggling with Amanda for the immunity idol clue. And Colby, whose head was obviously not even in the game said something like, “She had it first,” and Amanda gave up the clue to Danielle. But that’s not the end of it. In typical school yard fashion, Danielle proclaims to her Villain buddies that she wrestled Amanda to the floor and ripped it from her hands. Whew. I haven’t laughed that hard in awhile.Read the entire article at: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2951424/a_catfight_on_survivor_and_another.html?cat=9

'Jumping Ship'

Original Air Date: Apr 29, 2010
If you thought VH1′s …of Love shows were the only place to see women wrestling with each other while yelling things like “psychopath”…well, think again! That equal parts confusing and entertaining struggle highlighted the latest edition of Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains. ... The claws came out when Danielle, Colby, and Amanda went on a reward trip to Robert Louis Stevenson’s home. While watching Treasure Island and chomping down popcorn, Danielle found a clue to the next hidden immunity idol and tried to hide it on the floor so no one else would see. The turned out to be a mistake when Amanda walked over and picked up the clue. Danielle then leaped to her feet and tried to physically wrestle the clue away from Amanda while calling her a “psychopath” and insisting the clue was hers. Then, in a move that was both immensely generous and immensely stupid, Colby (who shockingly seemed more interested in watching a 76-year-old movie than the two smokin’ hot babes wrestling in bikinis right in front of his face) told his alliance-mate Amanda to give the clue back to Danielle, thereby handing a second hidden immunity idol over to the enemy. Instead of refusing to give the clue up and then finding the idol to save herself, Amanda was voted out.

Here's a bit more detail about how the catfight went down: After winning the reward challenge, Danielle, Amanda, and Colby were treated to a nice meal,a tour of and night at Robert Louis Stevenson's mansion and a screening of "Treasure Island." Amanda was on high alert, searching for the clue to the next hidden immunity idol. But it was Danielle who found the clue in the bowl of popcorn that Amanda had, ironically, passed to her. Danielle took the clue out and placed it on the floor. That was her mistake. She should have made like she did when Parvati found a clue at a prior reward and gave it to Danielle to "hold" between Danielle's silicone-enhanced breasts. Amanda saw Danielle attempt to be stealthy so she went over by Danielle to scope things out. She saw the clue and picked it up, and this is where the real fun began. Danielle and Amanda started wrestling each other for the clue with the former telling the latter that she was a ''psychopath'' and the latter telling the former that ''it's not yours!'' All the while, Colby just sat there explaining, ''I didn't even see what happened. I was watching Treasure Island.'' Yet another "clue" that Colby is so not in the game."But here's where things went from crazy awesome to just plain crazy. When Danielle went to Colby for back-up on how it was her clue and she should get it back, Colby astoundingly, inexplicably agreed, responding, ''It's your clue, Danielle. It's your clue. You found it,'' and encouraging his fellow Hero Amanda to return it. And then she astoundingly, inexplicably did! Now to properly establish how insanely dumb this move was, let's go to the Survivor rulebook for a minute. Once you have a hidden immunity idol, no one is allowed to take it from you. They can't just grab it and pull a finders keepers, losers weepers on you. But this wasn't the idol. It was a clue to the whereabouts of the idol. And the clue was not even in Danielle's possession. It was sitting on the floor."Source: EW

HBO — Apr 27, 2010 — Season 3 Ep. 0 — (Rated: TV-14) Dance auditions take a decidedly sexy turn for Eric and Pam in this "True Blood" minisode. For more information, log onto HBO.com.
Well sorry folks I'm a couple of days late to the party. It seems that the minisodes were released ahead of the May 2 announcement--which is fine--less time to wait, right? My guess is that the minisodes will air on HBO on May 2, too.
This minisode is pretty amusing. I love Pam's dry wit--and that her bisexuality is creeping into the storyline. Eric is rather selfish as Pam says but he's the boss. I'm assuming she gets her way fairly frequently in any situation other than with Eric.
