SMITE - S2xE5
Charming and its small-town appeal become vulnerable to The League, which finds new ways to provoke SOA members. Tara's compassionate efforts to help a distraught Gemma don't go unpunished.
"Fix" was good, but not great "Sons of Anarchy." There were some nicely done moments but overall it felt like the audience was being reminded in ALL CAPS that this time (I mean it) Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and his step-dad Clay (Ron Perlman) are really locking horns.
I like the Clay-Jax dynamic. I think as actors they really hold their own with two strong presences on- screen. It's interesting what they do with them. I'm sort of tiring of their bickering though, and would like them to move on-- at least as much as Jax will allow.
Three minute recap - "FIX" - S2 x E3
Full episode:
FIX - S2 x E3
The League takes bold new steps in their quest to undermine Samcro, forcing the club to take explosive measures. Meanwhile, Clay and Gemma struggle to communicate, and Tara receives a crash course in how to lay claim to her man.
Though Lorena's behaviour is almost 200 hundred years before we meet her in the present in Dallas, she's quite the same in both time frames--quite primal and beyond. Present time Bill was spot on in questioning if she'd ever had a heart prior to her own becoming vampire.
I'm catching up on screen caps from Season 1! All visuals are HBO property. Thanks to "Rhoswen" of the Deadwood Stage Forum for the great capping work! Deadwood Stage Be sure to check it out!
"Good scene from season 1 of True Blood. The vampire Lorena turns the reluctant Bill, after she gives the wounded confederate soldier food and water (and draining his blood), finding him to be an honorable man.
Vacation Murders -
Lt. La Guerta (Lauren Vélez) surprises Angel (David Zayas) with the media's take on the vacation murders. Meanwhile Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) continues to work on the Lisa Bell case.
Episode 2: Remains to Be Seen
The pressures of fatherhood threaten to bring Dexter's world crashing down. In his carelessness, Dexter realizes that he's misplaced crucial evidence, something that could expose his dark side to the world. But his search will have to wait, as Miami Metro's two simultaneous murder cases continue to escalate. Their top priority is to solve 'The Vacation Murders', a series of robberies gone bad that threaten Miami's lucrative tourist industry. Lundy, however, remains convinced that the bigger problem is dealing with the Trinity Killer, who unbeknownst to them is already stalking his next victim. Dexter has to weave a web of lies to extract himself from his duties, hoping to bury his secret before someone else finds it first.
Bubblegum Gelato -
An accidental run-in brings the Trinity killer closer to his next target.
I haven't been on the 'net today to see what "the critics" are saying about last night's season premiere of Dexter, Season 4. I'm caring less and less what they think with the exception of a very few, anyway. Without going full-on with a rant I know of about half dozen who simply parrot one another then urge readers to go read their friend's review and they come full circle. See? We all agree about "X" show. OK. Whatever.
I wasn't blown away by the Season 4 Dexter premiere, not that I was expecting that especially. There was quite a bit of exposition about how we got here from where we left off about 10 months or so ago to get through. Have to consider the first-time viewers, too.
Deb's musician boyfriend now goes on tour and works on cruises--so no problem with his pot smoking--he's never home. All neat and tidy. For the moment. Angel broke up with Barbara the cop leaving the door open for the big non surprise that he and LaGuerta have a thing goin' on. There is still lots of murder going on in Miami too, which means Dexter is very busy with his day job as a blood spatter analyst/expert, is getting behind in his night job (serial killer), and with the addition of little Harrison now three months old, Dex is way behind in his sleep leading him to make a sloppy and embarrassing mistake in court testimony and allowing him to give us a cliffhanger ending to the episode.
Rita. I'm sorry but this is the one co-starring character that I feel persnickety about. I do not know how Dexter stands her. She's always grated on my nerves--the character, not the actress. She's bossy, controlling, whiny--ugh! If she only knew to whom she was married she'd zip it tout de suite!
My other small complaint is how the heck is Dexter keeping his Miami waterfront condo without Rita finding out? It must be costing him thousands a month. Even if it is completely paid off, there would be a fee to keep his boat docked and association dues stuff coming in the mail. Rita, of all people though not the sharpest knife in the drawer, is not placated easily. This one is just too much of a stretch.
Beyond this stuff we were introduced to "Trinity" who clearly is a nut case. It appears he will affirm next week that one of his issues is with mommys. It looks as if John Lithgow will be perfect in the role. In the short-ish murder scene he played he was extremely scary which is quite a task IMO, for an old, pasty-white dude.
Good video above that gives you a chance to sample The Sons of Anarchy, on FX currently almost at the mid-point of its 2 nd season.
I just started watching SoA so I'm acquiring bits and pieces that I would've gotten from the start. As it happened I lucked into a cool interview with both Katey and Charlie (Jax) via a story on Katey Sagal in re: her role as "Gemma," the black leather-and lace-clad hot, cougar, biker-chick-matriarch in Sons of Anarchy but did not even realize that the show existed until recently. My bad.
Of course Jax is darling--check out some of the (Picasa album) shots of Charlie Hunnam and Katey Sagal being interviewed prior to the start of Season 2--and the actual video.
They genuinely like each other. And I admit, I'm a sucker for guys with longer hair. Especially, blond, light-eyed guys. All the surfer guys looked like a version of Jax when I came of age in Huntington Beach, Calif in the late 70's through mid-eighties. Even though Charlie Hunnam as Jax is great eye candy and quite compelling an actor, I'm truly knocked out by what Katey Sagal has brought to the role of "Gemma."
She's amazing.
"High quality Charlie Hunnam as Jax, Katey Sagal as Gemma, Rachel Mencken as Tara, Drea de Matteo as Wendy and Ron Perlman as Clay Morrow"

If I had to single out one television show currently still being produced that has put forth more than two seasons and remained one that I get really excited anticipating --it's is without a doubt, Dexter! I literally squee'd when I realized last night that tonight's the night that Dex is back!
So happy! It's going to be one hour of sheer bloody bliss!
Two scenes from tonight's new episode:
Just Me and Blood
A Killer Cliche
From the Sho.com site:
Dexter S4xE1 "Living the Dream"
Dexter has always managed to get himself out of tough situations. But he suddenly finds himself in unfamiliar territory - life in suburbia. Now a husband and father of three, Dexter struggles to balance his family's needs with his ongoing duties as a blood spatter analyst for Miami Metro Homicide. The exhaustion is taking its toll, and as sleepless nights start to threaten his job performance, Dexter wonders if maybe he's taken on more than he can handle. And he'll need to stay sharp - the department is busier than ever, with two new murders on their hands. The detectives, Debra included, are surprised when Special Agent Frank Lundy returns to share his theories on the case. Lundy believes they're dealing with a serial killer he's been chasing for years, whom he's dubbed "the Trinity Killer". Meanwhile, Dexter's Dark Passenger drives him to seek out a fresh victim. But with so much already on his plate, is Dexter up to the task?
SHOWTIME
Geez, I cannot remember the last time I was this apprehensive about the premiere of a season 2 television show! Never should have read io9's tepid review.
Also, the Dollhouse stunt video in this post emphasizes how little time they have to set up scenes and get them filmed, a very clear reference to the fact that Dollhouse is being produced on the cheap this season.
Sorry 'bout the long wait, folks. I can only make screen caps of what I can dig up from the video on the 'net and there simply was. not. any. video from the scene with Bill and Sam at Merlotte's where Bill "persuades" Sam to help save the townspeople of Bon Temps from maenad Maryann. Both men looked especially appealing with the lighting on Bill's beautiful baby blues making him look almost like a god. I'll do some caps of Sam next. Hopefully the video won't be gone before then. I'll try to move fast! :)
About the video; "Following Saturday's appearance at the Glastonbury Festival, Bruce appeared on Sunday, June 28, at the Hard Rock Calling Festival in London's Hyde Park. Like Glastonbury, this turned into another magical show making the back-to-back U.K. festival appearances an all time highlight for Bruce and the Band. Here, in full, is the opening song from Bruce's set, "London Calling." (Joe Strummer/Mick Jones)."
Bruce and E Street crank out a credible version of the Clash's classic call to arms.
It's Bruce Springsteen's 60th birthday today and I have no idea what a popular culture icon/music master such as he could possibly want or need as a gift. He's shared with me and millions of others so much of himself over the past 40 years. Not being able to offer him anything for his 60th b-day, instead I'll share some of what he's shared in his sublime command of imagery and artistry.
Bruce does indeed grace the September/October issue of AARP, the Magazine, published by the organization formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons, now simply known by their initials. "Red, White, and Bruce" here.
Two Springsteen-based re-posts of mine:
Now that it's 2008 I can say that I'm seeing Bruce in the spring which is something that makes me happy. This is one of my favourite of his many songs that touched me--maybe more so now than years ago. Anyway, the lyrics started playing in my head tonight, especially these:
Oh girl that feeling of safety that you prize Well it comes at a hard hard price You can't shut off the risk and the pain Without losing the love that remains Were all riders on this train
<awesome guitar break>
So you've been broken and youve been hurt Show me somebody who ain't Yeah, I know I ain't nobodys bargain But, hell, a little touch up and a little paint...
The entire lyrics are after the video which has a definite mid-1980's feel to it. Bruce does look pretty great in it though I miss "Miami" Steve Van Zant and Clarence Clemons on camera. I'm curious too who is doing the female vocals. edit/checked--some were (now wife) Patti's.
You and me we were the pretenders We let it all slip away In the end what you don't surrender Well the world just strips away
Girl, aint no kindness in the face of strangers Aint gonna find no miracles here Well you can wait on your blesses my darlin' But I got a deal for you right here
I ain't looking for praise or pity I ain't coming 'round searchin' for a crutch I just want someone to talk to And a little of that Human Touch Just a little of that Human Touch
Ain't no mercy on the streets of this town Ain't no bread from heavenly skies Ain't nobody drawing wine from this blood Its just you and me tonight
Tell me, in a world without pity Do you think what I'm askin's too much I just want something to hold on to And a little of that Human Touch Just a little of that Human Touch
Oh girl that feeling of safety that you prize Well it comes at a hard hard price You can't shut off the risk and the pain Without losin' the love that remains We're all riders on this train
So you've been broken and you've been hurt Show me somebody who ain't Yeah, I know I ain't nobody's bargain But, hell, a little touch up and a little paint...
You might need somethin' to hold on to When all the answers, they don't amount to much Somebody that you could just to talk to And a little of that Human Touch
Baby, in a world without pity Do you think what I'm askin's too much I just want to feel you in my arms Share a little of that Human Touch Feel a little of that Human Touch Give me a little of that Human Touch
Counting down until Sunday nights with Dexter.
My spouse thought it premiered this weekend and was sort of let down but it won't be long now until we all get our Dexter fix! Within this new promo video, released Sept. 18, are only quick cuts of the Trinity Killer that are new but they are creepy as hell and definitely worth watching the whole 3-and-a-half minutes of the video to be able to see each of them. Yes, those wily Showtime promo peeps inserted the new fast cuts of Trinity throughout the entire video clip.
EDIT/Speaking of Trinity, Ausiello reports in the tiniest of spoilers that "John Lithgow’s Trinity Killer will claim a high-profile victim (a.k.a.
significant character) during the first half of the season."
That is not much to go on. From the promos thus far Trinity's victims have all been women but is that a red herring? Your guess is as good as mine as right now I've got nothing.

That wasn't a too-bad way to hear Miley Cyrus for the first time. Sheryl Crow could have easily been Miley's mom, age-wise. Miley definitely had her own interpretation of the song. I give her lots of credit for enunciating, which Sheryl did not do much of on the song when it was first issued way back when. Great song, just the same. Sort of weird to hear Miley Cyrus belt out:
"Well OK, I still get stonedI not the kinda girl you bring home..."

Lalo Schifrin, the Argentine pianist and
composer of SkyRiders, may be best known for his TV scores like the theme from Mission: Impossible and Mannix but he
also composed many themes for a number of film works including many of
Clint Eastwood's, some of Steve MacQueen's, and even a John Wayne film (Coogan's Bluff in 1968).
Found a small copy of the SkyRider poster at Ain't It Cool. It is pretty awesome-looking.
SkyRiders was created after he recorded Magnum Force and Enter the Dragon and just before Rollercoaster, Telefon, and Return from Witch Mountain, as well as a few years later, The Amityville Horror. I've heard that Amityville Horror really freaked out many people and I would not be surprised to hear that the Lalo Schifrin soundtrack contributed greatly.
Besides the SkyRiders Soundtrack, Lalo Schifrin also scored The Eagle Has Landed and Voyage of the Damned in1976.
Schifrin's score for Coogan's Bluff in 1968 was the beginning of a long association with Clint Eastwood. His strong jazz-blues riffs were evident in Dirty Harry and although similar to Bullitt and Coogan's Bluff, the score for Dirty Harry stood out for the sheer fear it generated when released.(Wikipedia) (Somehow I think Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry played a part in the "sheer fear".)
Lalo Schifrin's talent for this kind of music which to my ears is his very own sub-genre, is unmatched. His gift for elation, as it's been called, is descriptive of the mood evoked by the soundtrack to SkyRider with its muscular, brassy, trademark Schifrin sound. It was 1976 when he made SkyRider, which came on the heels of his making the soundtrack for Enter the Dragon andMagnum Force. He was definitely still at the top of his game.
As the Ain't It Cool Pop Culture-Movie Site refers to it, SkyRiders is the "quintessential hang-gliding action flick of the 70s." The soundtrack for it is a perfect match. I think you'll agree when you give it a listen.

"Recorded in February of 1976 Sky Riders would prove to be the last, for a time, in that long, innovative line of jazz/funk-dominated scores with which Schifrin made his reputation. This is the complete score, never before released, that has been remixed from the original multi-track masters."
Puff the Magic Dragon was probably the first of Peter, Paul and Mary's string of folk song hits that those of us of a certain age remember hearing as children. I was in the playroom basement of my cousin's house when this first came on the radio, catching my fancy. Many years later I heard that "Puff" was an allusion to smoking pot, getting high but my childhood impression of it as a simple, catchy pop-folk song never changed.
I remember belting this out in grade school chorus.

Peter Paul and Mary, If I Had A Hammer
Lyrics:
If I had a hammer, I'd hammer in the morning I'd hammer in the evening, All over this land I'd hammer out danger, I'd hammer out a warning, I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters, All over this land. If I had a bell, I'd ring it in the morning, I'd ring it in the evening, All over this land I'd ring out danger, I'd ring out a warning I'd ring out love between my brothers and my sisters, All over this land. If I had a song, I'd sing it in the morning, I'd sing it in the evening, All over this land I'd sing out danger, I'd sing out a warning I'd sing out love between my brothers and my sisters, All over this land. Well I got a hammer, And I got a bell, And I got a song to sing, all over this land. It's the hammer of Justice, It's the bell of Freedom, It's the song about Love between my brothers and my sisters, All over this land. It's the hammer of Justice, It's the bell of Freedom, It's the song about Love between my brothers and my sisters, All over this land.
The real deal. Born and bred in Greenwich Village, NY, here Mary Travers is shown at an anti war news conference in 1967.
Mary Travers, whose ringing, earnest vocals with the folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary made songs like “Blowin’ in the Wind,” “If I Had a Hammer” and “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?” enduring anthems of the 1960s protest movement, died on Wednesday at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut. She was 72 and lived in Redding, Conn.
The cause was complications from chemotherapy associated with a bone-marrow transplant she had several years ago after developing leukemia, said Heather Lylis, a spokeswoman.
Ms. Travers brought a powerful voice and an unfeigned urgency to music that resonated with mainstream listeners. With her straight blond hair and willowy figure and two bearded guitar players by her side, she looked exactly like what she was, a Greenwich Villager directly from the clubs and the coffeehouses that nourished the folk-music revival. "There will always be a big body count on this show."
- Alan Ball on True Blood
Televisionary has the BEST Season Finale spoilerific interview with AB!
Some of the yummiest bits:
Televisionary: It’s intimated in the season finale that there’s a hidden force that’s supposedly watching over Sookie? Will we learn more about this and is this connected to that dangling plot thread about what happened to the Rattrays in the pilot?
Alan Ball: Absolutely.
Ha! I knew it! It seemed no one made much of a big deal about the fact that when Sookie winged that chain around the Rattray creep that the chain tightened, seemingly on its own allowing Sookie to gain the upper hand, chasing off the Rattray's and saving Bill from being drained by them. At the time even she looked a bit surprised. What sort of threw me off being certain was the next night when the Rattrays ambushed Sookie, beating her severely, nearly killing her. Who was watching over her then? It appeared no one.
Should be very fun to find out more about where Season 3 will take us regarding Sookie and the "force."'
Televisionary: Are there any clues for what viewers can expect for next season?
Ball: I can tell you that we will meet the Vampire King of Mississippi and he will have an agenda with the Vampire Queen of Louisiana.
Televisionary: Is Evan Rachel Wood a series regular next season?
Ball: No, she’s not a series regular but she definitely will appear. I know some fans thought that she wasn’t scary enough but (AB explains that in essence, we ain't seen nothing yet) She's crazy! I mean, that character is insane so I don’t think we’ve really seen an insane vampire yet.
Televisionary: It seems almost like a red herring that Eric was behind Bill’s kidnapping last night. Should we be looking at any other potential suspects behind his disappearance?
Ball: I think you should always be considering all possibilities. (Laughs)
I'm with Televisionary on the red herring issue about Bill. Be sure to click through and read his full interview with Alan Ball which is the most revealing of any I've read regarding subtle and sometimes overlooked plot hints from both Season 1 and 2, as well as full-on (smaller) spoilers about Season 3.
I'm going to throw this out about Bill's kidnapping. Recall when Eric previously wanted to get Bill out of the way? He called on Bill's maker, Lorena, subtly manipulating her to do his dirty work. Eric is still Eric and the brutish way Bill was dragged off is not Eric's style at all despite the pissing matches, the glaring, the threats. I am not convinced that Eric doesn't sort of like Bill (though I'm fairly sure Bill hates Eric). Eric would have been much more creative about "taking care" of Bill as per Queen Sophie-Anne's demands. Someone else got to Bill first and again, I suggest you go right now and read the full Televisionary interview with Alan Ball wherein he gives you a hint!
Compared to the above interview Ausiello's "scoop" is pretty underwhelming. However I'm beginning to learn that we should pay close attention to casting news and this casting news in particular is about a full-time, pivotal cast member for Season 3.
True Blood has cast Tony winner Denis O’Hare (Take Me Out) as the Vampire King of Mississippi.
Besides acting on stage, O'Hare has appeared in both films (Milk, Duplicity) and television (Brothers & Sisters) and will join True Blood as a series regular. He’ll debut early into the show’s third season, slated to air next summer.
[caption id="attachment_1366" align="aligncenter" width="399" caption="Pam - in Fangtasia mode"][/caption]
This is my favourite photo of "Pam" (Kristin Bauer). I had it up as my Halloween wallpaper--but then kept it up for quite a while afterward. It is from a scene in which she meets a strung-out Jason for the first time. I'll post a video which includes that and other memorable True Blood, Season 1 scenes featuring Pam.
You should click through and read her full interview: Kristin Bauer in EW. I really hope she gets more screen time in the future. We hardly saw any of her this season. I get it. Because of the Dallas thing and the maenad thing there was no time for Fangtasia. At least Kristin is all over the Season 2 Blu-ray Set!
Kristin says she is not in the Season Finale 2 of True Blood so that quashes the theory that she will team up with Eric to glamour the townsfolk of Bon Temps after Mariann is vanquished.
(Click the link through to my gallery to see the full- size photos. Several are HBO releases in hi res.) True Blood -Kristin Bauer - Pam - Season 1 & 2 Screen Caps, Video
After every Swedish take, I look at him, and he sort of nods. Once, he went and saw the footage. I said, “How was I? Was my Swedish good?” He said, “No. You sound like a Russian prostitute.” Of course, the comeback line was, “How would you know?” but I thought of it months later. In fact, I think someone else thought of it. But after every take, I go, “Russian prostitute? Or am I near the border of Sweden?”
EW: Does Eric confide in Pam? Does she know the reason he has Lafayette selling V, or why he wants Sookie so badly? KB: No. She does not know. She’s just going with it because of her loyalty.
EW: People would love to see Pam have a love interest on the show. Which character do you think she could have the most fun with in that way?
KB: Well, my sick mind looks for something that we haven’t seen before. Apparently in the books, she’s bisexual. So I thought we haven’t seen a vampire with a vampire in a love way, and we haven’t seen two women together, so what about her and Jessica?
EW: There’s been so much buzz about Alexander in the last month. What’s your take on that? KB: I think it makes perfect sense. He’s new to us, our country, and he’s big and beautiful, and the character is big and beautiful... -Kristin Bauer in EW
After the jump: Kristin Bauer was a beautiful real-life bride last month!
By arirosenthalphotography. Actress Kristin Bauer (True Blood's "Pam") got married on August 1st in a beautiful, rustic setting that couldn't have been any more un-Hollywood. The lucky groom is South African musician Abri van Straten.
Dexter Season 4, begins Sept. 27 and on this we can agree: Dexter is a great show--maybe the best premium cable show going into the fall season. Before True Blood, it was my and spouse's favourite premium cable show and it is THE reason when I chopped our teevee cable bill back by about $80 yesterday that I kept Showtime (it probably still is spouses fave). Here are some sneak peaks--with all new scenes fleshing out some previous snippets. After each sneak a few spoilerish morsels gleaned from Kristen. Excitement!
Above: John Lithgow's Trinity Killer is..."the most chilling nemesis Dexter's ever
had...his crimes are deeply cruel, if not as brutal as some we've seen."
Dexter (Michael C. Hall) is...a great dad but "he's really having trouble with..."neighbors" and "community."
...at one point, Rita (Julie Benz) even gets a glimpse of how much the real Dexter doesn't like to play nice with others."
Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) will not have a nice, steady romantic life due to Frank Lundy showing up--which really is not spoiler-ish but..."look for an unexpected flirtation between two regular characters" is slightly spoilerish--especially if the two are of the same sex!
Lundy (Keith Carradine) btw, is now retired and hunting serial killers more or less as a hobby(!) He believes that "the shadow he's been hunting for 15 years, the Trinity Killer, might be in town."
"Excuse me, but fuck awards!" says Forbes, who plays the very evil but deliciously sexy Maryann Forrester in the hit vampire series, True Blood.
"That's not where the glory is. The glory is in the audience," she adds. "That's who we tell the stories for. It's not for, with all due respect, the critics and not for the awards shows, but for the audience."

Season Two's True Blood finale is on Sunday on HBO.
Forbes ...admits she never had an interest in vampires or the supernatural before joining True Blood.
"She doesn't have a duality, she has a quadruple-ality," Forbes says with a laugh. "They came up with this character that is running around in evening dresses and playing in the dirt and she has mad domestic skills and a butler and then there's dancing and the food. It's been so much fun."
Also fun? Getting to watch the real-life romance blossom between Sookie and Bill-- Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer.
[caption id="attachment_1320" align="alignright" width="288" caption="At the Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2009 - Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer"][/caption]
"It really is a beautiful partnership to witness, and I don't say that lightly," Forbes says. "It's not often "It's not often that you meet two people so wholly suited for each other."
That may be the sweetest characterization of the Anna and Stephen's courtship that I've heard.
Bill and Sookie fans: I think you should get this "T" before it morphs into "Sookie and Eric." It's happening, like it or not.
TV Squad has a really informative interview with Alan Ball posted (see link). I've pulled some of the more, let's say "informative," quotes about the True Blood - Season 2 finale and a bit about Season 3 for True Blood's creator to share with you here.
Andy seems to be immune to Maryann's spells. Can you tell us why?
AB: I would say he's been immune up until this point.
[caption id="attachment_1304" align="alignright" width="450" caption="Andy Bellefluer at the base of "Di - meat- tree""][/caption]
Whoa, wait a minute! Yikes. I hadn't thought of that! I'm going to go with Andy not getting the bug eyes but instead Maryann imposing her will on him in some other fashion.
And Godric, is he really dead?
AB: He is really dead.
That is kind of a well, duh ! question though it leads Alan into the next statement which is intriguing.
A thousand years of flashbacks to be mined -
That was such a tender scene at the end of "I Will Rise Up" between Godric and Eric and Sookie.
AB: Yes, I loved that scene. However, Godric and Eric have a thousand years of flashback territory to be mined.
[caption id="attachment_1308" align="aligncenter" width="314" caption="Godric - 1000 years ago"][/caption]
I would love more flashback scenes that go way, way back with any of the lead vampires.
People haven't really been liking the Maryann storyline. What's your reaction to that?
AB: I'm baffled because I think she's a fantastic character and a fantastic actress. I also know a lot of people who really love her. I think people are impatient, you know what I mean? When her story pays off, it is really, really gratifying.
Will she be in season three?
AB: Maryann is not going to be in season three.
AB: Eric was introduced sort of into the periphery of Bill and Sookie, and now Eric's become a character in his own right.
And you couldn't have picked a better punishment for Bill.
AB: Right, we came up with the worst possible punishment for Bill, which was having to make a vampire. Now, we have this crazy, formerly Christian, home-schooled, socially inept girl whose been turned into a vampire, which I think is a fantastic character.
(Sounds as if it is a pretty sure thing that Jessica will survive Season 2. Yay!)
AB: We're going to meet a vampire in season three who's not very protective at all. Those who've read the books will recognize the name -- Franklin Mott.
Gah! I sort of don't remember Franklin Mott and if I do, I thought he was a supe?!
Can you tell us anything about Season Three?
AB: Well, the book is out there, so I'm not giving anything away when I say that we'll meet the Vampire King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington. And we'll encounter werewolves for the first time in the flesh...I'm very excited about the character of Debbie Pelt. She's bad news.
Debbie Pelt is the ex-girlfriend of a guy who's helping Sookie try to find Bill, and she is just hard ass, white trash bitch on wheels. She's so much fun.... But there are other great characters, too... some people are like, "Am I human? I always thought I was, but maybe I was wrong." In one particular case, its like, "Yes, honey, you were wrong."
Is that Sookie? Is she part faerie? Can you tell me that?
I can tell you that Sookie is not 100 percent human.
This video with True Blood's "Jessica" (Deborah Ann Woll) and "Hoyt" (Jim Parrack) features the scene which Michelle Forbes alludes to in the EW interview she did with Deborah Ann Woll. It's excellent.
A couple of Michelle's comments about the meat tree (with real meat!) and Maryann's fate.
"I’m a 30-year vegetarian..
so the role of Maryann has been a bit challenging – especially with the
lovely meat tree – Di-meat-tree, as he became known."
(In answer to the request to talk about the tree.)
"It was filled with
real meat and reeked as the weeks wore on. There are bobcats and
coyotes roaming around that ranch where we shoot, so they had someone
sit by the tree with a gun at night to protect it."
(In answer to how can Maryann be vanquished?)
"Once she believes (her) god is finally coming, that will be her vulnerability. Or shall I say her Achilles’ Heel. "

Anyone else recall Michelle is her early years of acting like in that sorta cool episode of Star Trek:The Next Generation where she and Geordi La Forge became ghosts--were trapped "out of phase" with seemingly everyone else? Or maybe they are dead as this type of experience is supposed to be part of the Bajoran death (ritual(?)according
to Ensign Ro Laren, last name acts as first, played by Michelle

I was so annoyed with her.
Have caught her at most, maybe twice in her entire career elsewhere.
I know she worked a lot too, being such a well-respected actress. Ever
more often, she is asked to do cameos or a guest stint based on her standing
with geeks. It doesn't hurt that she's beautiful, either. The only
places however that I've watched her over the years were the
aforementioned Star Trek:The Next Generation (1 season) and Battlestar Galactica (on
SciFi) as the unforgettable scary-awesome Admiral Helena Cain. She had
both a story arc of several episodes and a television mini "Razor," for

In S2 of HBO's True Blood, Michelle Forbes has had a featured and prominent role for much of the season as Mariann the maenad. She's left an indelible impression in the True Blood universe, of an exuberant, deadly, sometimes wicked, orgy-lovin,' ancient maenad who Michelle Forbes described thusly in her TVGuide interview (link above to full story):
"A maenad is also known as the raving one or the wild one. They’re
mythic creatures in Greek mythology who followed Dionysius and Bacchus
and revel in chaos and destruction. They drink wine, have sex and have
no boundaries. That excess is their quest for purity. As they sing
their praises to their god, they hope that he comes."

As Lafayette continues to try to cope with PTSD from weeks in a basement-dungeon, being shot and untreated, and bitten by three vamps at once, both he and Sookie are having very strong reactions to drinking Eric's blood. Lafayette's terrifying hallucinations of Eric and Sookie's erotic dreams show no sign of dissipating. I'm guessing that both these issues will follow the characters into Season 3.
Alexander Skarsgård as Eric is terrific in these scenes though I felt a bit badly for poor Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis).
"Teacup humans" almost makes me wish Eric was around kids more so we could hear him utter the phrase again. He is so menacing and so very amusing at the same time.

If you cannot see what Michelle Forbe's brought to HBO's True Blood then you are not watching the show that Alan Ball is offering. Just being able have Michelle Forbes perform on the show brought an edge to Season 2, a menace and a seemingly wacko maenad, who in her own world, lived the way every one should. Seriously. The casting on this show overall is pretty damn good. I consider Michelle Forbes in that category. She's a freaking goddess in quite a large community of fans. The orgies really got old and "bug-eyed freaks" got old. I think the most irritating thing about "Maryann" was the orgies--in which she did not participate. Less naked, middle-aged dudes and more naked main characters for at least a season. Please.

Above: Have a listen to the the main title track music to Christopher Young's Drag Me to Hell.
(Drag Me To Hell is the property of Lakeshore Records.)
The film's premise is a fairly simple one but the chilling and sometimes terrifying score is anything but simple.
In an album full of outstanding orchestral and chill-inducing choral music, the piece that stands out most for me is "Loose Teeth." Running seven minutes in length, it brings together many threads running through the album but in a fashion all of it's own. Christopher Young brings in the spooky choir as well as the familiar nerve-rattling solo violin element, adds in a frantic action "break," and all while the orchestra grows ever louder and ever more dissonant. Injected into this mix is a male vocalist putting forth incredibly scary guttural and yes, demonic lamentations which I cannot even listen to without the lights on. It's that terrifyingly spot on.
This piece showcases composer Young's talent for expression of smart, skillfully-crafted, multi-layered, many-textured, instrumental pieces which can pack all the shock and emotional wallop that this genre demands. Christopher Young has few if any, peers at accomplishing such astonishing feats. Certainly he is an original and fans of any film genre can appreciate his musical skill. I know I can.
Drag Me to Hell :
Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, Professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan. Should Christine follow her instincts and give the old woman a break? Or should she deny the extension to impress her boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), and get a leg-up on a promotion? Christine fatefully chooses the latter, shaming Mrs. Ganush and dispossessing her of her home.
In retaliation, the old woman places the powerful curse of the Lamia on Christine, transforming her life into a living hell. Haunted by an evil spirit and misunderstood by a skeptical boyfriend, she seeks the aid of seer Rham Jas (Dileep Rao) to save her soul from eternal damnation. To help the shattered Christine return her life to normal, the psychic sets her on a frantic course to reverse the spell. As evil forces close in, Christine must face the unthinkable: how far will she go to break free of the curse?

1 x 09 - Plaisir D'Amour
Worth a look as I scoured. Hard to find some earlier promos and summaries for True Blood Season 1 now so I'll keep adding as I find them. They've got be out there. Somewhere.
I'll try one more time tomorrow to make the very recent Alexander Skarsgård short ,but fantastic and intimate music interview from Santa Monica public radio station KCRW linkable. It really messed my code up here and I don't want to try another install and have than happen again(!)
True Blood - From the same episode - 1 x 09 - Plaisir D'Amour
A scene that very strongly evokes the film "Carrie" but much worse because it appears that Anna drinks a gallon of the stuff*!
*which she says in interviews is "melted, chopped-up sex toys."
This is pretty amusing yet quite twisted.
Other than the stop-motion action figure aspect of it Dexter viewers are familiar with Michael C. Hall's voice overs/narration in the course of each episode. Dexter is a man of few words. He's a man of action--so I suppose then that it makes sense in a demented sort of way that Dexter is now an action figure.
One of the coolest details that are considered when putting together True Blood on HBO is the music. Usually the title of an episode is the song you hear playing over the credits (possibly always--I have to check) and the music genres have run the gamut. I'm not sure if this just-released Sept 8, 2009 music video which is completely awesome and sounds as if it were written specifically for the show (have to check on that, too)is going to be the title of an upcoming Season 3 episode but it would be cool if it were so we could enjoy it on the soundtrack!

You would totally not see me gushing about Toy Story III without my experiences at Disneyland this April past.
First, let me tell you about me, my family, & Disneyland.
I'd wanted to go to Disneyland my whole life but lived on the east coast and had parents that were not at all interested in the idea(!)
Even though I knew a fair number of kids that went to what we then called "Epcot," an adjunct to Disney World in Florida along with Disney World, I hadn't wanted to go there anywhere near as much as I wanted to go to the original Disneyland.
When I was 19 y.o. I moved to Southern California, eventually settling in Huntington Beach and as often as I could afford it I went to Disneyland and a few years later I married a guy whose Mom worked for Disney and who could bring her family to the Disneyland Park for free--anytime!
Dream come true!
I went often and solidified my love for the Disneyland Park.
Life circumstances forced a move to the Chicago area, which though a great place to bring up my kids left us way too far from Disneyland. Also, I did not bring my then spouse, whose best qualities it turned out, began and ended with a mom who worked at Disneyland (j/k but only slightly).
Since I've lived in the Chicago area I've again met lots of folks who've travelled to Disney World which I still have zero interest in, and few that have been to Disneyland.
They don't realize that it costs the same or less to vacation at Disneyland as it does Disney World.
Why? Because often, it is nearly the same airfare from here to Disneyland as it is to Disney World and definitely the configuration of Disneyland being in the center of a regular suburb where you can run out and get all of your day-to-day necessities and save a ton of money-- eating out less often (for example, continental breakfast at the motel, pack sandwiches, snacks and drinks in your backpack for lunch, a nice dinner--and a chance to rest in the park) versus Disney World which was plunked way out where you pretty much have no choice or need to be very inventive about saving money on meals and anything else you need to run to the store for.
So to the point, I'm sort of on a fixed income due to heart failure and so we really, really pinch pennies to be able to go to Disneyland so it is a really big deal $$$ to go but it's been a priority of mine to expose my sons to it as it is truly magical in the realm of man-made wonders. My now-17 y.o. gets excited about very little but Disneyland is one place that he honestly loves and even his like-minded father loves going. I gave them the opportunity to get hooked--which once inside the gates took no effort at all. We spend about 4 days in the park and break it up with trips to the beach or San Diego or L.A. or Hollywood--tons of stuff to do in So.Cal.
This time--April 2009, as you probably recall, the economy was going down the tubes fast. The airlines had increased fares and fees and overall, it was a much bigger challenge to pull off this trip but it had been tradition to go every two years and this time we stretched it to 2.5 years and I just wasn't waiting any longer.
I'm so glad we went (though that is my normal reaction)! They've done a bunch of things to add spit and polish to Disneyland proper (ongoing) and all the main attractions were open. It's the adjoining park to Disneyland that is going through a really radical change and based on the blueprints I've seen--and they are proudly showing off plans that will continue for years--the park is going to be what Walt Disney himself would have imagined.
I'd thought California Adventure was just fine and really love some of its awesome attractions both big and small. Soaring Over California--not to be missed, Grizzly River Run--my son's favourite ride in the park and way fun as long as you wear your swimsuit under whatever else you don't care about getting wet. You also need to go on it at least 10 times in a row or more. Crush! Turtle Talk with Crush is awesome, dude! All of the sometimes-overlooked Disney Animation section is great--and constantly being updated.
But!The biggest surprise and the most satisfying ride in California Adventure was one of the first of many changes to come, with a name that needs more zing, Toy Story Midway Mania!
OMG! This is the "funnest" ride since I stumbled across Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters in the Fantasyland section of Disneyland. To call Midway Mania a "4-D attraction" really gives you no clue about how immersed you get in it and how incredibly fun and addictive it is.You really feel a part of the game-ride which involved all the characters from Toy Story in different settings that look straight out of a Toy Story movie and has you trying to take them out with a paint gun whilst in a car moving along, making it way more difficult to do so. As per usual Disney, there are little tricks and shortcuts that you can find and utilize to your advantage though some not so easy to pull off--you must be very quick and accurate.
Midway Mania is perfect for gamer people with their stellar shooting accuracy, but it pulls in a complete non-gamer like me because of the interactiveness and because I'm shooting paint balls, not clicking a keyboard, though I admit my hand got sore after a couple of days of going on it. It encompasses everything the Imagineers and the Pixar people have learned and turned it into an experience that is fun every time. The original Toy Story attraction in the adjacent Disneyland is somewhat similar but on a bigger scale and utilizes "laser" guns. I had actually passed it up the first time out there--didn't go on it once, decided 2 years later to give it a shot and it immediately became my favourite Disneyland attraction. I went on Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters a bazillion times.
So this is a long-winded way of saying that the Pixar people and Disney Imagineers just keep getting better and I'm truly looking forward to Toy Story III as a way to get a taste of the fun of the rides and to appreciate the continuing evolution of Disney/Pixar animation.
I've added on the current promo materials for Toy Story III (premiere: June, 2010) but plan to incorporate Disney's near complete re-thinking of California Adventure and the progress of the changes in the next few years with an additional photo album.
I have all the "blueprints" that were on display at Disney and I'm putting them together and will include them in a post to come so you can have a better idea about how Disney is able to integrate the worlds of our reality with the brilliant minds of Disney Pixar and their resulting mind-blowing interactive creations.
On having an on/off screen relationship with Anna, he says,
“Our relationship obviously started at the beginning of the show. We got together because we loved being together and created the thing in the first place. So I think this might be easier because the crew has grown up with us, watching us as a couple and we feel comfortable with them. So, we are able in some ways to explore an intimacy which maybe some people aren’t able to."

To was it love at first sight?, Moyer replies
"we both were absolutely single and we were doing this job and HBO puts us in the same hotel. We were the only two out-of-towners as everybody else lived in LA.
.. we just had some time off so we started hanging out together and literally finished the pilot, went home and felt very strange not being together suddenly. And I think we were both really surprised about that. Really nicely surprised by that."
Are you comfortable with all the racy scenes? Happy with your sock?
I love the sock! Everyone has got a different size sock, as you can imagine.
What size is yours?
I veer medium to extra large. No, it’s very funny, they brought in a selection of socks to try on and I don’t know whether they were doing it very sweetly, the costume department, like they brought in an extra-small one so that you feel really good. But I wasn’t the extra small which was very gratifying for me.
About True Blood's sexy scenes:
I like the fact that sex is shown in our show, I like the fact it is shown to be true. We show lustful sex, we show loving sex, and then my character does the loving and lustful sex. We’re in a society where it’s ok at 7 o’clock in the evening to see 200 terrorists gunned down by Jack Bauer [on 24], but we can’t see one female nipple unless it’s on cable network and I think that’s ridiculous.
People are scared of nipples?
They can be
quite scary can’t they? Especially of the very big ones that look like
dustbin lids. But I’m very proud of our show, and that our show
embraces it. It’s not a problem for me at all.
Anna Paquin interview Q & A's
How’s life as a blonde?
It’s very high maintenance.
It must be...
Yeah it turns out my hair grows really fast and I have really dark hair naturally so, you know, this even the tiniest bit of roots, not okay. But now that we’re wrapped it’s okay because I’m not suppose to look like a natural blonde but not really a fan for sitting still for the hairdresser once every ten days for a couple hours. Makes me feel really vain and nutty.
...people stare at blonde girls. It’s funny. It’s bright and shiny and it catches the light. Like a magpie. - ANNA
How is it working with your fiancé Stephen Moyer?
He’s great. He’s really talented, and so is every other member of our cast and crew and writing staff and directors I mean, we have, we have such an amazing group of people and it’s a real treat.
Did you have any worries about doing the raunchy material?
I’ve done plenty of not particularly child-friendly work when I was less age-appropriate to do it. So maybe I’ve just never had conservative taste.
We keep hearing about the sock (to cover the male actors nudity)...
“I think they started calling it ‘the sock of destiny’ last season, I’m
not entirely sure, I think that might have been a Ryan Kwanten coinage
cause he was in little else for most of that season and if I’m not very
much mistaken, I think he gave socks to all of the boys on the crew as
a wrap gift...
But girls don’t have the sock. Girls have the patch.
The patch, is that glued?
No! (laughs) It’ s topstick, double-sided toupee tape.. .glue would be messy and awkward. Topstick is also awkward but less messy.
Yeah a "modesty patch," or just "the patch" or "the sock."
I think they started calling it ‘the sock of destiny’ last season...I think that might have been a Ryan Kwanten coinage cause he was in little else for most of that season...
At best this is a morsel as there's not much to go on here. There are a couple of new angles on scenes and I'm not sure--did Maryann's minions already go after Sam at Merlotte's with butcher knives and such?
Hey look! A portent of things to come in season 3, methinks!
But there are several already- shown scenes and the promo includes "Hung" and "Entourage."
Waiting is the hardest part. I'm dying. Here are a few caps with a detail or two that I
missed before.
I hadn't realized but on the left, just over Maryann's shoulder is Tara--dressed all in white. We have a different angle on Eggs here--though we've seen the bloody knife. The question is--whose blood is it!?
This is new expression for Maryann. She's devoid of that nasty smirk ( Maryann not Michelle--I love Michelle)and truly looks like she'snearly in awe.You can see Sookie's tanned arm pictured side by side but behind Maryann's left arm--with Bill restraining her.
We've seen a variation on this shot of Sookie looking very, very distraught.

OK, people. This here is by far the most interesting Episode 12 photo that HBO has released. Pictured are Sookie Stackhouse series author Charlaine Harris, Sam Merlotte, (Sam Trammell) and Tara (Rutina Wesley) doing her bartending thing. The bar, which was in complete disarray from the attack of the "bug-eyed freaks/Maryann's minions" seems back to normal. Is this a scene from weeks after the Maryann "marriage?"
Notice that Jason's eyes are not black? (Or as Lafayette puts it, Jason is not a "bug-eyed freak"?)
Is this a projection of some kind from Eric's mind to Sookie's wherein he reveals the monster that Bill used to be?
Hoyt Fortenberry, still trying to get his mama under control. When I watched Episode 11 the 2nd time Maxine seemed to be speaking about how Maryann was in for a bad surprise after the "God Who Comes" did so. Was she speaking generally about marriage--or does Mrs. Fortenberry know something more? In some ways she seems much more coherent than the other "bug-eyed freaks." Hmm.
True Blood - S2xE12 (24) - If You Were Human, I Would've Taken You Over By Now
Spoilers for True Blood's Season Finale E12, "Beyond Here Lies Nothin'," lie within.
There may be some hints about what we will be seeing in Season 3 as well. Though the Sookie-Bill-Eric triangle has been very much implied to be something to look forward to, there is now photographic evidence of at least one reason Sookie may opt to take a break from Bill Compton. EDIT/ See further info. in comment section
This episode of True Blood seemed to have more mixed reviews than any other of Season 2.
Although Eric's leering reference to children as "teacup humans" may have been one of the most memorable lines of the season, in the dozens of comments on a number of sites (like EW, for example) the vast majority of True Blood fans had very strong opinions about Evan Rachel Wood's Sophie-Anne, Vampire Queen of Louisiana.
I'm a fan of Evan's. She's still very young and I think she'll continue to really shine if cast in the right roles. Unfortunately, I don't think Alan Ball, who wrote episode 11 was objective enough about her ability to pull off the task of portraying the Queen in a convincing fashion. It seemed like stunt casting with ERW neither scary, nor amusing, which whether or not you read the Sookie Stackhouse book from whence she sprang, you would still expect an ancient Vampire Queen to be (amusing, because True Blood is tongue-in-cheek). She was just...annoying. It felt to me like they plopped her down in the middle of the story and we had no build-up, no frame of reference for her or to her and disappointingly, it just did not work at all.
The failure of the scenes with Sophie-Anne and Vampire Bill (Stephen Moyer) really dragged down the episode as a whole and without Alexander Skarsgård in a dress and Pam (Kristin Bauer) doing her best deadpan about how thankful she was that she never had kids, we'd be left only with more Sam (Sam Trammell) on the run, more Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) trying to reclaim his rightful place (in his mind, anyway) as a guardian of the law, more crazy, blacked-out-eyed orgiastic Bon Temps residents and Lafayette having another bout of PTSD. Jason (Ryan Kwanten) got off a couple of good lines, though the conversation between him and Andy seemed like it was kind of shoe-horned in just so they could "bond" before going into battle.
It's a tall order for a show that is hyped as much as True Blood is to always measure up. "Frenzy" fell really short of great, landing somewhere in the vicinity of "meh."
I still love the show--I'm not that fickle--but I don't think Alan Ball is the best choice to write the show. His strengths truly lie in guiding it and I hope he continues in that role--and stays out of the writer's room. Ball is a big reason True Blood is worthy of all the hype so as we close out Season 2 let's hope he and his team blow our minds like we know they can!
True Blood 2x10 - New World in My View - Sookie's Dream (w/ Eric)
bloodring1 — August 24, 2009 — Sookie's dream sequence with Eric at the beginning of 'New World in My View'. Clip belongs to HBO - no copyright infringement intended!
There have been quite a few opinions rendered by True Blood viewers about the "Bill and Sookie and Eric" triangle. Non-shipper people are dreading it going any further but the majority seem pretty anxious to get the party started, so to speak.
I've read all the books and as Charlaine Harris has stated, they are entirely separate mediums for entertainment.
Alan Ball bought the rights to the books and has said repeatedly that he wishes to remain true to the "spirit" of the books with about 50% of the television show this season being taken from the books.
SPOILER!!!
In the books the Eric and Sookie dynamic is changed drastically by at least two distinct situations. One, Sookie repeatedly drinks Eric's blood and two, the maenad currently called "Maryann" puts a hex on Eric, causing him to forget "who" he is. Sookie ends up caring for him having "found" him about 20 miles from her home, and the two fall for one another. Bill has made this easy as he is quite deceitful---a practice that he's probably had to hone having existed as a vampire for 170-odd years. At the time Sookie beds Eric she is not dating Bill. Let's keep in mind too, as Bill said in last night's episode after Eric tricked Sookie into sucking "silver" bullets from his body, Eric has had 1000 years to hone his own mad prevaricating skillz.
Certainly of the two Bill is the better man but that would make for a boring story so expect True Blood, Season 3 to have a prominent triad element to it. For you Bill-lovers however, Alan Ball has said that ultimately, Bill and Sookie will prevail as a couple--but will we have to wait until the final season?
I DO NOT OWN THIS VIDEO OR THE RIGHTS TO THIS VIDEO.
ALL RIGHTS TO HBO AND TRUE BLOOD.
Sookie, Bill, and Jason return to a Bon Temps turned upside down by Maryann. Lured to Merlotte’s by Arlene, Sam and Andy find cold comfort in their refuge from a group of bloodthirsty revelers. Bill discovers that traditional vampire techniques don’t work on Maryann; Hoyt and Jessica try to keep a lid on Maxine’s madness; and Sookie tries to push through the darkness consuming Tara. With all hell breaking loose, Jason takes the bull by the horns to rescue Sam, at least for the moment.
The disc includes 40 tracks, 38 tracks divided between the five
parts of the miniseries with the other two, the opening and closing
themes, being sort of "bonus tracks."
Composer Ben Foster’s soundtrack to Torchwood: Children of Earth can be found in the US on Amazon. (Released August 11).
"I Can Run Forever" "One of the best tracks from the Torchwood: Children Of Earth Soundtrack. Here is the end scene, with an isolated score. "
“Children of Earth,” the five-part miniseries that
in essence, serves as the Torchwood's third (and perhaps final?) season with the stakes higher
than ever for Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones. Veteran “Torchwood” composer Ben Foster (Dr.Who) rises to the occasion, capturing the apocalyptic tone on the Torchwood: Children Of Earth Soundtrack, set from the moment a malevolent force speaks through the "Children of Earth."
The soundtrack is split up according to each of the five parts in the miniseries, opening with “The First
Sacrifice,” a haunting melody which starts out very similar to a
soothing lullaby. Given that the miniseries initially centers on the world’s
youth, this music is particularly fitting, instantly conveying a perversion of innocence that wends its way through the story.
Performed with energy and verve by the BBC National Orchestra of
Wales, the score features an
exquisite instrumental blend, the music often conveying a sense of danger looming with all-too-brief respites of great beauty. As each day passes the soundtrack grows more and more epic and intense with the three-note theme for the alien "4-5-6" used often to punctuate the story as it blows by like a runaway train.
Composer Ben Foster has put forth an inspired volume of work here, not just outstanding in its for its purpose to compliment but not overwhelm Children Of Earth, but in the fact that it stands alone as a complete listening experience.
As much as I've enjoyed Justin Kirk's University of Andy video series, Kevin Nealon is much funnier. He's very good at improvising--doing off-the-cuff stuff. He made these videos on the his last day filming Weeds: Season 5 and goes behind the scenes including the rehearsing and filming of the Doug and Celia at the storage facility pot showdown scene and the Celia and her crew scene that comes later. Fun stuff.
In episode 401, the fourth season premiere,
Dexter sleeplessly struggles to balance his new family life with his
dark, murderous drive for a fresh victim, and his busier-than-ever
forensic career pursuing a new target, "The Trinity Killer."
It's hard not to be jazzed about the new season of Dexter. The storyline that seems to be brewing is going to have perfectionist Dexter likely on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Previously, he's pondered the possibility of a life with Rita and dismissed it as logistically impossible. And for good reason. He'd have to give up his bachelor pad on the waterfront--his base of operation so to speak when it came to disposing of the remains of the deadly criminals that were themselves now dead--cut up into handy, large garbage bags-size for disposal into the ocean.
Now married with three kids, one a new baby, Dexter's got to find a way to satisfy the urges of his "Dark Passenger," that have not dissipated simply because of his drastic lifestyle changes. Dexter has faced many challenging situations but now he's got to navigate living the suburban life with neighbours who keep a watch on comings and goings, the demands of the new baby, as well as his blood
spatter analyst job which requires him to be alert and precise.
Complicating things even more for Dex is the fact that his sister Deb has discovered that their (adoptive) father, Harry carried very big secrets to his grave. The secrets remain in the basement of the very place Dexter and Deb work and Deb is determined to get to the very bottom of the ever-increasing mound of secrets she has unearthed.
If she does so, she'll find that Dexter is the son of Harry's now-dead mistress. Might Dex be Harry's natural child as well? And what happens if Deb finds out that Dex is the brother of the Ice Truck Killer? So many "What ifs?"! and so many ways for the story to play out.
And that's not even taking into account this season's Trinity Killer and what will happen if he becomes aware of Dexter as well as how Dexter will react to who may be one of the best serial killers in modern history.
