I suppose that we will have to take Jason at his word that he "ain't ever been so clear (about something) in his life and that "this, here (the madness in Bon Temps) is the war (he has) been training for." Interesting choice of words in the E10 synopsis below that Jason "takes the bull by the horns" to rescue Sam (temporarily). Of course it could be simply an expression but it could also be referring to Maryann.
