Episode 4.01 - Living the Dream
Description
In episode 401, the fourth season premiere, Dexter sleeplessly struggles to balance his new family life with his dark, murderous drive for a fresh victim, and his busier-than-ever forensic career pursuing a new target, "The Trinity Killer."
It's hard not to be jazzed about the new season of Dexter. The storyline that seems to be brewing is going to have perfectionist Dexter likely on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Previously, he's pondered the possibility of a life with Rita and dismissed it as logistically impossible. And for good reason. He'd have to give up his bachelor pad on the waterfront--his base of operation so to speak when it came to disposing of the remains of the deadly criminals that were themselves now dead--cut up into handy, large garbage bags-size for disposal into the ocean.
Now married with three kids, one a new baby, Dexter's got to find a way to satisfy the urges of his "Dark Passenger," that have not dissipated simply because of his drastic lifestyle changes. Dexter has faced many challenging situations but now he's got to navigate living the suburban life with neighbours who keep a watch on comings and goings, the demands of the new baby, as well as his blood spatter analyst job which requires him to be alert and precise.
Complicating things even more for Dex is the fact that his sister Deb has discovered that their (adoptive) father, Harry carried very big secrets to his grave. The secrets remain in the basement of the very place Dexter and Deb work and Deb is determined to get to the very bottom of the ever-increasing mound of secrets she has unearthed.
If she does so, she'll find that Dexter is the son of Harry's now-dead mistress. Might Dex be Harry's natural child as well? And what happens if Deb finds out that Dex is the brother of the Ice Truck Killer? So many "What ifs?"! and so many ways for the story to play out.
And that's not even taking into account this season's Trinity Killer and what will happen if he becomes aware of Dexter as well as how Dexter will react to who may be one of the best serial killers in modern history.
Season 4 Overview -
Dexter struggles to settle into domestic life.
Dexter has always managed to get himself out of
tough situations. But he suddenly finds himself in unfamiliar territory
- life in suburbia. Now a husband and father of three, Dexter struggles
to balance his family's needs with his ongoing duties as a blood
spatter analyst for Miami Metro Homicide. The exhaustion is taking its
toll, and as sleepless nights start to threaten his job performance,
Dexter wonders if maybe he's taken on more than he can handle. And
he'll need to stay sharp - the department is busier than ever, with two
new murders on their hands. The detectives, Debra included, are
surprised when Special Agent Frank Lundy returns to share his theories
on the case. Lundy believes they're dealing with a serial killer he's
been chasing for years, whom he's dubbed "the Trinity Killer".
Meanwhile, Dexter's Dark Passenger drives him to seek out a fresh
victim. But with so much already on his plate, is Dexter up to the task?
