The first print run of Bear McCreary’s Battlestar Galactica: Season 4 soundtrack have all sold out – two weeks prior to its release! La La Land Records have put a rush on printing more, attempting to catch up with demand. I'm sure all parties are pleasantly surprised at the need to do so.
This is very exciting though in truth, not unexpected news. Bear's fans include many long-time followers of Battlestar Galactica and they are known both for their great taste and devout loyalty to the man and the series, respectively.
It's my opinion that Bear who is himself a huge BSG fan, has channelled his deep appreciation for Battlestar Galactica into the unforgettable soundtrack music he's laboured to create and if you continue reading, you'll find that he continues to perform live with the Battlestar Galactica Orchestra to sell-out crowds who share the same appreciation for Bear's music which is such an integral piece of the endeavour that was Battlestar Galactica.
Battlestar Galactica: Season 4 has been the top selling TV soundtrack for over a month on Amazon and is has currently spent 8 days in the Top 100 Music CD’s on Amazon (and the charting arrow is pointed "up").
In other Bear news, if you are attending Comic Con in San Diego or are planning to be in the area, Bear McCreary will be there, too--for several days performing live with the Battlestar Galactica Orchestra--and on Thursday July 23 he’ll contribute to Richard Hatch’s panel with other members of the Battlestar Galactica cast and crew. On Friday, Saturday and possibly Sunday he will appear at multiple signings and presentations including one at Capcom’s booth for Dark Void.
Bear has already let slip that he's been scoring a new television project that will have it's premiere at Comic Con! It will be the first time his score is heard publicly for the project, which has been kept top secret.
“It’s been killing me keeping it secret,” McCreary said, “because I know when you guys hear this soundtrack… you’re gonna explode. It’s like Battlestar / Sarah Connor / Dark Void on steroids!”
And about that live performance during Comic Con? Are you ready for this? You can enjoy a live performance of the music from the Battlestar Galactica: Season 4 soundtrack at the San Diego House of Blues on Thursday July 23rd, Friday July 24th, and Saturday, July 25th. The performances will be hosted by Battlestar actors Edward James Olmos (Thursday) and Grace Park (Saturday) with both Olmos and Park on the Friday. There are still tickets available though I wouldn't wait much longer to get them as the venue is not a huge one. Battlestar Galactica: Season 4 will officially be released July 28.
