Battlestar Galactica, The Face Of The Enemy webisode Chapter 9 was released to the USA yesterday, Wednesday 01.07.08, as scheduled.
I've blogged all the episodes from The Face Of The Enemy webisode series except Chapter 10. I know it has been leaked. I'm trying to follow Skiffy's (Sci Fi Channel's) lead .
Check out the webisodes at SciFi.com. /edit All webisodes were leaked to the 'net except 'sode #9 before the New Year. Now nine has been released so the whole 1-10 are available. The Sci Fi Channel still has an official release date for Webisode 10. Don't miss that as it's 5 minutes long and has quite a bit of information contained within. If you want to find all the BSG webisodes in the series as well as lots of tricky screen caps which show scene snippets that whip right by--stuff that you may have missed--read my blog from the past couple of weeks.
Episode Nine of Battlestar Galactica's 10-part webisode series has a rather major event in it giving the audience some good foreknowledge going into BSG's final half-season about where Mr. Gaeta's head is at in relation to the Cylons.
Also, a secret from Season 3, is quite literally revealed.
In Webisode #9, Eight model cylon, played by Grace Park, has been frakking with Felix's head going back to the New Caprica period. Now they are marooned on a Raptor that shall soon be out of air. The Eight has murdered the rest of the passengers including another Eight. She essentially tells him to wake up and smell the coffee that it isn't about "hope" or "love" but rather, survival and doing whatever it takes moral or not, to survive.
Yes, I think the writers are commenting on current events (the two wars we are in, etc.) as well as the overarching realization that we are all just blundering through.
The Eight with whom Gaeta has been trapped for three days is on a lost Raptor, adrift in space with a rather high dead body count.
The Eight openly mocks Gaeta for his idealism; she even mocks her New Caprica self and the fawning way she interacted with Felix.
Felix becomes increasingly distraught as the Eight enumerates all the wrongs (deaths of settlers) that they have helped facilitate.
Felix really loses his shite and gets a sinister look on his face and picks up the scalpel on the floor. When the Eight appears to have tweaked every weak spot she has discerned in Gaeta, including telling him that Gaius Baltar knew what Felix was up to he knifes her repeatedly.
In the scene shown in Webisode Nine and also in BSG Season 03E12, " Taking A Break From All Your Worries," Baltar hisses into Felix's ear that he'd keep Felix's secret about his "little Eight,"a promise the audience wasn't privy to until this webisode.
It is one of my favourite scenes with of Baltar the Saviour or perhaps more accurately, the last Cylon god?(!)

I figure that almost anything is possible now that they are free to sew up many plot lines, large and small. Webisode Nine helped a lot with the revelation of what Gaius said to Felix. These two will meet again as one of the official clues has shown us and though this is adjunct material (as well as canon?) it adds a subtext that you won't see if you do not watch at least some of the webisodes, easily found on this site, hulu, or you tube.
