Bill breaks a vampire taboo in protecting Sookie--and must pay a steep
price as a result. Jason and Amy break their own taboo by kidnapping a
vampire named Eddie in order to harvest his blood. With Lettie Mae
apparently cured, a skeptical Tara consults with Miss Jeanette about
exorcising her own inner demon. Sookie returns home to yet another
horrific tragedy, prompting Bill to enlist an unlikely
bodyguard--Sam--to protect her while he's away.

"Humans. Honestly Bill, I don't know what you see in them." -Eric
"You've got vampire in your cleavage."- Pam to a bloodsoaked Sookie
"What's your game?"- "Chow," the new Fangtasia bartender after interrupting Bills Wii-like game of golf.
Episode 9 opens with bartender vampire Longshadow trying to throttle Sookie, as she was poised to finger him as the thief at Fangtasia.
Bill reacts by snapping off a beer tap and staking Longshadow from behind.
Longshadow spews blood all over Sookie, evoking a
"Carrie" moment as she ends up bloodied from head to toe.
Eric and Pam impassively watch, deadpan looks on both their faces as the bartenders turns into a pile of goo.
Ginger,
the human employee whose thoughts lead Sookie to Longshadow, cleans up
the disgusting remains, freaked out and muttering prayers. Eric and Pam
come to the conclusion that despite Ginger having been heavily glamoured already by Longshadow, Pam will again do so as she is not desperate enough to turn Ginger.
While Sookie is in the ladies room attempting to clean up, Bill and Eric have a chat about what has transpired with Eric agreeing that he
would have made Longshadow pay, but not in front of other vampires. He tells Bill that there will be serious consequences.
Jason
and Amy drive with vampire Eddie in the back of his pickup truck. He freaks out because of what they are doing but Amy tells him to take a chill pill.
Jason and Amy
carry Eddie into Jason's basement. Both Jason and
Eddie want to know what Amy has planned as she ties him to a lawn chair
and drains Eddie's blood. She tries to settle down Jason with the fresh "V" blood, but
he's unnerved. Amy drinks it out of a thimble with Jason watching her as she begins tripping happily, urging him to join her. Jason relents, his urge for the drug overruling his anxieties. Eddie tells him not too, but Jason gets all macho and tells him to eff-off.
Pam brings Sookie a change of clothes--black leather. She tells Sookie that she got vampire in her cleavage and offer to retrieve it. Sookie allows her and thank hers for doing so. Pam murmurs that she can she what Bill likes about Sookie. Ginger, obviously glamoured, enters and acts as if she's meeting Sookie for the first time.
Tara
tries to get exorcism answers. She gets a quote from Miss
Jeanette: $799.95, because
Tara's demon is worse than her mother's. The exorcist tells Tara not to wait,
her loneliness is spreading to her eyes. She tells her to count
backwards from 10 when she's alone to see if she can stand herself.
(It seems to me that Tara is completely getting played.)
Bill
brings Sookie home, dressed in leather. He tells her everything's fine
with Eric, but at home, it isn't. There's blood on the walls and
Sookie's cat is hanging from the ceiling fan.
Bill spoons with Sookie,
clothed on the bed. He tells her he'll protect her because the trouble
she's in is his fault. She says it's hers because she chose it and she couldn't look him in the face if she believed all the mayhem in her life his fault. When she
closes her eyes to sleep Sookie sees her bloodied grandmother and startles awake.
Jason and Amy having frolicked in the nude on V in front of Eddie the vampire now frolic in Jason's backyard this time not having sex, nor high on V, but eating "raw." Jason frets that someone will hear Eddie's screams
from the basement. He thinks they should feed him because he's worried
Eddie is going to die. "So what?" says Amy.
Her plan is that things will work out because they have to. She
deserves to have something good happen, she says. She tells Jason she
loves him. After hedging and grabbing a beer, Jason tells her he loves her, too.
Bill is
golfing. Is it a dream? No it's a Wii-like game.
The doorbell rings, interrupting his game. Eric, Pam and Chow, Longshadow's
replacement, have come to escort him to his tribunal. Bill insists on stopping by Merlotte's to tell Sookie he'll
be gone for a while.
Bill
and his entourage arrive at Merlotte's. Bill
tells Sam he's been called away and he needs Sam to watch over Sookie.
Sam's not happy Bill's asking, but he'll do it "for Sookie." Eric and Pam pass out brochures for Fangtasia. Eric announces that vampires know when a human has wronged them.
Amy looks very guilty but the gang who torched the vampire's house is in the bar as swell and Eric's attention is fixed on them. Bill
tells Sookie he has to stand trial. She realizes he lied to her about
everything being OK. Sookie's upset he has to leave, crying as she
kisses him good-bye.
Sam asks Amy where Sookie
is. When she tells him, he runs out, but is stopped in the parking lot by an increasingly
suspicious Andy Bellefleur. He calls Sam on his naturalist
story and says they need to talk. Sam says he forgot something in the
bar and will be right back. A few moments later the dog who watches over Sookie runs out and on by Andy. Seconds
later the dog is at Bill's front door. Sookie has nervously driven to Bill's empty house and is greeted by the dog who she welcomes with relief as the night's companion, bringing him inside with her and naming him "Dean." She invites him on the bed with her and though he hesitates at first she insists and he settles in at the foot of the bed.
Jason returns home with beer and unsurprisingly given his worries about Eddie dying, brings Tru Blood too which he swiftly feeds to Eddie through a straw.
Sookie
wakes up in the middle of the night, complaining that Dean is being a bed hog. She sits up to not to see the friendly dog but instead to see Sam curled up, naked. Sookie screams.
