I cannot believe that back when I was around 12, way back in the day, I respected John McCain as a Vietnam-war hero. He was among the very last, the longest-held captive of the North Vietnamese. Just for that fact alone, I gave great pause in considering whether at this stage in his life he would psychologically handle the pressures of growing old in the Oval Office. I watched him on the evening news probably ABC, as a just-released POW being greeted by some government guys in suits. McCain was still in his prison clothes, pajama-like, loose garb, But he isn't that guy now, hasn't been for years. John McCain never rose above his Vietnam heroics. He's just...done. *There's a 40% chance if he won that he would die in office. Palin as the US prez? Um, no.*

I liked what I heard from him eight years ago but in 20/20 hindsight I don't believe he was sincere to have now changed his tune so radically.

Oh, how I adored him in 2000, before he sold his soul. Once upon a time, McCain really was a maverick. Now I just feel sorry for him. Even William F. Buckley's son endorsed Obama.
On the brighter side: I just decided that Obama ascension would not have been possible without eight years of Bush. Everything for a reason.
