Today comes a US financial crisis summit hastily called by President George Bush to meet with his cabinet and both US presidential candidates, Sens. Barack Obama (D) and John McCain. The meeting literally took on the qualities of a three ring circus. I really hope there is film at eleven of United states Treasury Secretary Hanry Paulson down on bended knee, pleading with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to "not blow this."
Her reply? "It's not me. It's the Republicans."
One day after President Bush said the nation's economy is at grave risk, lawmakers argued over competing counterproposals and wound up without any apparent financial bailout deal on the table. Even Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson got down on one knee to half-jokingly beg Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leaders not to go to the television cameras and blast the failed negotiations, according to two senior Democratic aides.
