It's interesting travelling outside the United States, even if it's just to Canada. We got back two day ago from a 3-day trip to Maple Lake to "open up" the cottage. This is a yearly ritual in which the water is "put in" and checking is done to assess the winter changes. The grass gets mowed, leaves raked. In general, it's a preparation to come back and stay longer. (stock photo)
I had not been at Maple Lake in early June in many years and the differences between now and the month or so later that we often go is noticeable. For one, the beauty is "fresher." All the greenery --and there is much-- is a lighter shade of green than later, in the summer.
Also, this trip was the first time I'd seen at least thirty loons swimming past about 200 feet out in front of our cottage. I was absolutely thrilled and ran to get the binoculars. I would have loved to have gotten some photos of these regal water fowl but it was late evening and the moment was passing quickly. Perhaps I'll get lucky next time I go up--which cannot be soon enough.

Thanks! I'm happy you like it, Dan. :)
