My mom told me to "never leave the house without lipstick." That worked pretty well until I hit my forties.
Then I read a quote from Cindy Crawford confirming what I knew to be true already (I dealt in books at the time--she wrote a beauty book). Cindy said the one essential makeup item to always have with you is coverstick. It covers under-eye circles, blemishes, and evens skin tone. So said Cindy.
Hydrate is a good one. Drink mucho H2O tho' the heart thing kinda messed that up (limit fluids).
Get enough sleep--duh, right? But rested and refreshed looks better.
Skin care wise: exfoliate, clarify and moisturize.

Sorry, I'm late getting back to you but the comments section was disrupted for about a month.
