The Red Hot Chili Peppers won four Grammys the other night. I only recently discovered Stadium Arcadium (via Rolling Stone). I've loved some of their other stuff--but not all. Stadium Arcadium is a 2-disc set containing lots of really good songs. Something for everyone, really.
One of the articles I read about the RHCP's is that Anthony Kiedis is not a great lyricist.
I'm not sure who he's being compared to but I find some of his phrasing really enjoyable & original-sounding. I mean does everything have to be s-p-e-l-l-e-d out or can the lyrics sometimes be open for interpretation?
This is just a really cool rock song. In this performance I especially dig the guy doing the harmonies, and the guitar and drum work. Anthony does his thing just fine, though he does seem a bit subdued.
Of course the recorded version is perfect. ;)
