She wasn't terribly patient about me trying to get off some shots with the little 2-pixel Nikon that soon will be replaced. I'm spoiled. The pixels are just jumping off the page from these photographs. My intention was to catch shadows and light in this early fall/late-afternoon around-my-neighbourhood setting.
This is my favourite of the lot. Make to sure click it to get a better look.

This snap is just to prove Raven was with me.
She's stopping to smell the flowers, ha-ha.
Actually, she stops to smell everything. Everything.

I've done this one a million times it seems--all the seasons. It's pretty in winter with snow.
Anyway, this is one of a few spots where one can pretend momentarily that one is not spitting distance from Motorola World Headquarters and the very big, quite new, Schaumburg Convention Center.
Today I was driving my oldest son to catch a bus to a train, idling at a stoplight near Woodfield Mall when a gaggle of what looked like tourists crossed the street. It seemed funny--out of place--but they were a bunch of folks heading from the Convention Center on foot to Morton's Steak House. Yeah, that Morton's Steak House which has been here for some time in our fair town along with many other big names in eating, drinking, and recreation.
No one here walks anywhere unless it's speed-walking.
It's a town made for people driving cars.
So a group of people walking in the streets is unusual or at least it used to be.
My son, who is far more connected to our suburb and many others (as well as "the city"--Chicago), responded to my chuckling at the sight with, "Get used to it." And he's right, for good or ill, this place moving towards becoming an extension of "the city."

Thank you very much, Dan.
