Mini review of Ice Age:The Meltdown.
I hadn't seen Ice Age
(I), though I'd heard that it appealed to many people--so I really
didn't know what to expect but with many of the characters voiced by
comedians there were lots of funny bits. John Leguizamo's take on Sid
the sloth in particular was very entertaining and for those of you who want to know: "Scrat," the hapless squirrel-rat, may or may not get the highly coveted acorn. You'll just have to see.
So I'd say yes, Ice Age II is worth seeing, especially with the dearth of good movies right now (keeping in mind my opinion is framed by years of sitting through Pokemon movies--what a parent will do to indulge his/her child :/).
Spouse is dropping hints about "Slither" though. I love (some)
scary movies, especially psychological thriller-types, but the director
of "Slither" said his primary goal was to make the yuckiest, slimiest film
ever made. And the critics, who seem to like the film, say that he
succeded. I'd really have to be in the right mood to get completely
grossed out--but in fairness to spouse it is his turn to pick a flick.
Weather here has reverted to normal-- 50F-ish and gray, gray, gray. Boy, some leaves popping out of the tree buds would really help. Oh, (idealized) Spring-like weather, where art thou?
/edit 2: Okay, is this one any better?

Nathan Fillion-'cause he's cute and Canadian.
(And stars in Slither which is now reviewed in the comment section of this post--thanks to my zombiephile brother).

Oh, and by "early summer," I meant according to Hollywood's summer season, not the natural one.

In that pic you posted, Fillion is sucking in his gut so hard, he can't stand up straight.

As soon as I heard about "Slither" I immediately thought of you.
Glad you liked it.
I'll probably wait for the DVD to come out --just in time for early summer is my guess.

The leads in "Slither" were amazing: Fillion is the ultimate dramedic actor, Banks is like Jim Carrey's mind in Nicole Kidman's body, Michael Rooker was pretty much still "Henry," and Gregg Henry did an amazing job of channeling James Karen ("Do you want to keep this job, son?!") of the "Return of the Living Dead" series. The script was predictable (a fact that the soundtrack indicated was intentional via its pomposity), and every character was little more than a stereotype (hence no real heart to the movie), but Gunn at least was clever enough to play to the actors' strengths. Larfs and chills were about evenly balanced. Despite the undertones of rape, there was something oddly sweet about the movie in a '50s-drive-in sorta way. "Slither" is a solid early-summer flick: forgettable but fun.
