I thought this was a farked-up week due to the unbelievable and self-serving tripe that's been bandied about concerning the late Ronald Reagan. He "ended the Cold War"? For f*cks sake. Read your history. He happened to be the occupant of the White House when the inevitable end of the USSR took place.
Look, Ronnie may have been a "good Christian man." It seems there are many of that ilk that are responsible for a lot of sh*t. But the "best president of the second half of the 20th Century" and other laudatory remarks make me want to retch.
RR was a friendly, jovial man. He was an ok prez, a lousy father--by all accounts, a middle-of-the-road actor, a wannabe cowboy, henpecked to the extreme ("Mommy" anyone? :shudder:), and lazy (he kept the shortest White House work schedule that anyone can recall).
These are the hallmarks of a "great man"?!?
What are we supposed to say when someone truly great dies?
So in ending this mondo bizarro week, I start flipping through my Kinja log--check it out--there are a couple of shiny new additions--and Anil Dashes Links directs me to this little gem:
Serial killer "Son of Sam"'s blog.
And like a rubber-necker driving past a highway pile-up, I click the link and there he is in all his Christian glory.
I love Christianity. I really do. Where else can one be anything from President of the United States to a serial killer and y'all are on the same playing field trying to win one for Team Jesus?
