Took my youngest to the Duel Master Mall Tour today.
It was an adventure getting there as we completely by-passed the mall (it was set kinda back and behind from the direction we were coming from) and we ended up at Lake Michigan. I would have much preferred to just park the car and take a walk along the beach but I had a kid with me, clutching his precious trading cards so we turned the car around and after a couple more false starts found the place--with only 45 minutes to spare before they shut down.
Man, after being "locked in" with a sick kid for three days, getting out was surreal!
That, and the whole mall experience--everything is so bright and noisy and colourful--all the marketing to try to grab your attention.
I'm so jaded I usually hardly look--just go straight to the store/item I want to buy and get out of the mall quickly, but since I had some time to kill while the "Duel Master" traded cards, I checked out the Old Navy store that was adjacent.
Ugh. Nothing against Old Navy clothes (I have several of their t-shirts--bought second hand of course) but it all looks the same in there--15 colours of the same clothes item, again and again. It's like the Stepford Wives of stores.
The Klonopin seems to have cured the mall phobia but it doesn't matter much as I just refuse to shop anymore.
Okay, I will shop but if I can't buy it on the Internet, I'll buy resale. Shoes are about the only thing I'll go to a "real" store for. I just can't handle the commercialism, plus I'm really cheap.
On a brighter note, I've stuck with my plan for yoga every day until I can swim again--though the walking the dog thing hasn't really gotten off the ground yet.
