7.09 - Battlestar Galactica - All Along The Watchtower - NEW Katee Sackhoff - Bear McCreary LIVE, Battlestar Galactica Orchestra In Concert /Corrected

Battlestar Galactica Bear McCreary with Katee Sackhoff "All Along The Watchtower" Live 6-13-2009 (here they are pictured in June in LA but you get the idea.)

Thanks to filmsinfocus!

What a treat to see Katee Sackhoff and Bear McCreary on the piano together with that haunting little tune The Final Four Theme--then to All Along the Watchtower--Bear's version!

Beginning with Kara Remembers this moves to the Final Four Theme then to Heeding The Call, then to All Along The Watchtower. It turns into something huge. I mean awesomely bombastic at its pinnacle. I love it! So powerful.

About this :Note from Bear McCreary "Kara Thrace herself, Katee Sackhoff, joined me on stage at the grand piano to play Kara Remembers I played the left hand part, and she plucked out the Final Four Theme, just as she did in the climax of Someone to Watch Over Me. Once we had the Final Four Theme going on the piano, the band snuck in, building to Heeding the Call and finally All Along the Watchtower.

What do you think of Bear McCreary and the Battlestar Galactica Orchestra live (in the video)?

Pretty great band, huh?

The Battlestar Galactica Orchestra, featuring all kinds of awesome, will tour in the US--hopefully Canada (maybe?) and possibly internatonally (I know for a fact Bear and Co. have a huge, dedicated fanbase overseas).

If you want to see Bear McCreary and the Battlestar Galactica band LIVE you have to make it happen by taking your support of Bear and BGO live. If you and some friends are the real deal as far Bear and Co., in other words a real BSG fan, it's very likely I think, that you would dig seeing Bear. His music made such an impact on the show. To state what is obvious: BSG would not be the BSG we love without Bear.

Did you hear the NPR piece on Bear and the band and their playing live? Here is the link. NPR Music on BSG's Bear McCreary and his live, sellout Shows

I will be back later to talk more about Bear and the Orchestra and the LIVE gigs they have lined up in  San Diego at the upcoming geek event of the year--ComicCon! (which is killing me because <sob> I cannot be there.)

From Battlestar Galactica Orchestra site -

"Bear McCreary’s score for “Battlestar Galactica” honors, absorbs and transforms the traditions of classical, popular and cultural music from around the world.  Within his score, massive Japanese taiko ensembles struggle to overpower arsenals of Scottish bagpipes.  The wistful strains of erhu and duduk are set against string orchestra and rock band.  A lush piano sonata lulls one moment, a bluesy and distorted dobro energizes the next.  Armenian text is sung gently over images of bloodshed, while Indian-inspired melodies intertwine with heavy metal."

So check out the brand fraking new Battlestar Galactica Orchestra site and make sure to stop by the forum to say hi-- and then go blog about it! Twitter about it. Just spread the word that you'd love if the Battlestar Galactica Orchestra would come to your area to play LIVE.

True Blood Season 2 - Small Spoilers - Humourous Commentary - 2 Sneak Peeks E16 - Maryann & Sam - Lafayette & Tara

I have to be frank and say that except for Alan Ball's answers the info below is old territory covered. I even  got the distinct feeling that the interview was conducted awhile ago. That, or the interviewer is not watching the show. Regardless, Alan Ball seems always able to put an amusing spin on his answers so that even if the questions are kinda stale which these were, you get something worth reading in his answers. I've excised the teeny tiny bit of new information if you could call it that, from what the lovely Deborah Ann Woll and the very cute Sam Trammell said and bolded a couple of good bits. Sam (so handy that both the actor and the character he plays have the same first names) alludes to an "insane" scene done "recently" and considering how a few scenes played out in Book 2 of the Sookie Stackhouse series, if the True Blood writers go that way it has to be totally insane in it's rendering. Looking forward to it. It should be very, very big and very, very bad. :D

Q&A with Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica Hamby)

Q: Jessica didn't want to become a vampire, and now she's a part of this vampire family. I take it she'll have some adjustment problems.

About the character of Jessica: "It's a whole new world. She has to deal with everything you have to deal with as a 17-year-old girl, and on top of that, she can kill people, which is maybe not such a good thing to add with a teenage temper."

Q: Does her dramatic relationship will Bill settle down eventually, or does it remain more of a strained situation?

A:It settles down as much as a father-daughter relationship ever does. Is that mysterious enough for you? C895d5d7f33fa47728a77ac9afacfb3e

Q&A with executive producer Alan Ball

Q:What genre of television would you say True Blood is, if you had to pick just one?

A: Drama. We don't have an actual sign in the writers room that reads, "It's the emotions, stupid," but we might as well. We feel like we have to keep these characters rooted in some sort of emotional reality because otherwise, it's a parade of special effects and set pieces. Last season True Blood was very Southern Gothic and grounded in Bon Temps, La. This season seems more of an epic vampire family saga.

"Are we leaving Bon Temps for good? I'm working with source material, so I'm following the books. The show gets a little bigger in scope this year, but it always remains rooted in Bon Temps." -- Alan Ball

That's where Sookie lives, that's where Bill lives, that's where all our major characters live. They may go out of town for this reason or that reason, but they'll always come home.

Q: Sometimes people on this show are just covered in blood—the first episodes are so graphic. Are you going for a comic-book look for the show? Are you going for a specific visual type?

A:The reality of the fictional world of vampires is that it's bloody. Blood is everywhere, they feed on it, and they feed on people when they are having sex, so it's a messy world. If you're a vampire you're not going to want an all-white house. You're going to need a lot of Scotchgard.

Q&A with Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte)  In re: his favourite scene this season:

"We did a scene recently that was so crazy. I don't even know how to describe it. I don't know how it's going to come out, it's just insane. The writers are crazy; they're not playing it safe at all this year. They're taking huge chances. If you could think of the craziest possible thing that could happen in a fantastical world of vampires and creatures, you'd have to double it to figure this out. It's really crazy. I hope it's good."--Sam Trammell

True Blood Spoiler Round Up (Part 1) *SPOILERS* *PHOTOS*

1e25910f8e2ee5bf5237e6df7ba04c55 HBO seems to be Twittering sites to which HBO-backed spoilers are being reported. I'll round them up and gather them here. Just a few minutes ago I revised another True Blood spoilers post (Part 2) to add a great deal more detail. Game on, baby!

(In Dallas)ValerieCr_Jeff_55787593_Max_1236889503

“Isabel" (Valerie Cruz, right) runs with the Dallas vampires, but she kind of becomes friends with both Bill and Eric,” Valerie described of her role. “And she likes Sookie. [Isabel] has a penchant for humans, and she’s sensitive to this love story they have.”

Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten): Soon to repay the vampires for his wrongdoing.

I agree with Korbi (see pic below) that Stephen Moyer seems a delightful, gorgeous man and it especially shows when he's "himself" sans the whiteface and red-rimmed eyes (Note: becoming a vampire, one of the un-dead, ruins even great looks sometimes). I think Eric can do being a vamp cute-wise 'cos Eric is fair and the red-rimmed eyes just come across in a more flattering way on a really fair person. Jessica ( (Deborah Ann Woll) and Pam pull it off very well, too.

From Korbi:via HBO Twitter

Q:Any scoop on...
 Lafayette's fate?

A:... What I know for sure is that Eric's blood brings our boy Lafayette back to fighting form. We'll see the happy-go-lucky guy we loved last season once again.

Q:I love the idea of Hoyt and Jessica on "True Blood"!

A: Hoyt loves the idea too. Jessica's into it as well, but I don't think she's exactly a one man kind of (vamp)... not just yet anyway.

Am I imagining the overwhelming sexual tension between Jason Stackhouse and the preacher's wife on "True Blood"? Is something going to happen with that?
No to the former. Yes to the latter. Keep watching, you're not waiting for nothing.

EDIT/That had to be the dumbest Q evar.:p

Q:Sookie and Eric! Is Alan Ball going to completely ignore that storyline from the book series?
A:Nope. When I spoke to Stephen Moyer about what's coming up with S&E, he got a little jealous. I think he was joking... for the most part.

I read on Twitter that you weren't a big fan of last week's "True Blood" episode. It was a little disappointing compared to the first two.
No worries, they step it back up this coming Sunday...

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - 6 New Clips 'Chosen One' 'Not That Old' 'I Know What You Did' *SPOILERS*

"But I Am the Chosen One"

There are never-before bits of scenes in this bunch, though to be fair there is much overlap from what has been already released. Certainly the new stuff is compelling. I mean who does not want to see that snooty Draco Malfoy get SPOILER!!!! zapped by Harry Potter, right? I'm still uber excited about seeing the film in it's entirety as well as grateful (you'll find out why soon enough) to have some context to the soundtrack.

"I'd Like You To See It"

"I Know What You Did"

Meet Bill Compton's Maker -True Blood Q's and A's *SPOILERS* - NEW! Season 2 Promo Pics*

The lady in the foreground is Bill Compton's maker, "Lorena" (Mariana Klaveno).

Accordingly to HBO's character thumbnail "although they parted ways some time ago she still manages to retain some type of hold over him."

In the background you can see a dapper-looking gentleman at the piano who it turns out, is Mr. Bill himself (below).

Below I believe is the modern day incarnation of Lorena.

Carrie Preston, who plays Arlene Fowler, says, "The second-season finale is only two weeks after the end of the first season." She's pictured above with Todd Lowe, whose nuanced portrayal of the psychically scared war vet with great insights both into himself and others is quite a pleasure to behold. It's super that his very minor though memorable "Terry Bellefleur" seems to be getting an expanded role in S2. I can't help but root for this guy to not experience any more grief.

That said, here he is with Arlene, who goes through men like a mainstreaming vamp goes through Trublood, so I'm feeling kind of doubtful that Arlene is going to fulfill his high expectations.

I'm wondering if their scene (above) is taken from Tara's birthday party thrown by Maryann(!) at Sookie's whilst Sookie is doing Eric's bidding in Dallas?

03e7383ac9d072f035d1eeb06397a659

In the storyline that I'm least interested in, it looks (above) as if Sarah (Anna Camp) and Steve Newlin (Michael Mcmillian) are beginning to show their true colours (below).

Q: Spill me some news on True Blood, especially about that gorgeous Jason Stackhouse.

A: True Blood star Ryan Kwanten tells us that Jason and his sister, Sookie, won't be separated forever: "There will be [a reunion between the Stackhouse siblings] and quite an electric one, too, where we gang up for the greater good."

Q: When do we finally get to see this badass vampire Godric on True Blood?

A: We've been waiting patiently for this mysterious vampire-of-all-vampires too, and the wait is almost over. Godric (Allan Hyde) pops up in the July 19 episode, along with his lieutenants Stan (Eureka's Ed Quinn) and Isabel (Valerie Cruz). Valerie tells us, "Isabel runs with the Dallas vampires, but she kind of becomes friends with both Bill and Eric. And she likes Sookie. [Isabel] has a penchant for humans, and she's sensitive to this love story they have."

Q: I need some True Blood info!
A: Carrie Preston, who plays Arlene, says, "The second-season finale is only two weeks after the end of the first season. Things get crazy in Bon Temps, Louisiana, I'll tell you that." Wait, Arlene doesn't die, does she? "Not so far!"

2 NEW Harry Potter Clips! 'Who's The Half-Blood Prince?' 'Field Confrontation' - NEW Scenes - HBO First Look

Oooh, this clip, "Field Confrontation" is superb. Bellatrix Lestrange (the always fun-to-watch Helena Bonham Carter) is at her Lestrangest. I get goosebumps watching this. The actors, the set--the score. Magnificent. As I've said as I've happily posted the dozen or so trailers, promos, clips, sneak peeks, what have you ove the past few months,"Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince"/Book 6 of 7 in the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, is my favourite Harry Potter book.

Scope Out The Short HBO "First Look"

If you scroll down and watch thetwo-part HBO First Look you get an inkling of the care that went in to the making of this film. Everyone seems on top of their game and though the expression we are "like family" certainly has been overused I think not in this case where you have the actors returning time and again all the more experienced at inhabiting their characters and refining those character's relationships. This is going to be an excellent film. Don't skip past the HBO clips as they have scenes not in any of the trailers thus far--truly new scnes in the HBO short First Look below.

Yes, who is the "Half-blood Prince?" If you read the book you'll know. Even if you have watched a particular character in the films you may suspect. I truly am glad that I finally gave in and read the books, not only to understand more completely what my son was talking about but because they were quite a treat and they've made anticipating the films all the more enjoyable.

The "Extremely Dangerous" clip is after the jump. It has quite a bit of overlap with previously released clips but there is a brand-new shot of the Weasley Twins' Joke Shop.

True Blood SX2E3 'Scratches' - Marianne's Party

TRUE BLOOD - SX2E3 'Scratches' - Marianne's Party - featuring the "giant Paul Bunyan m-fin' pig," Det. Andy Bellefleur, Marianne(at her best), Marianne's manservant Karl, Tara and Eggs, Jane Bodehouse and a mutually horny, middle-aged dude, many revelers--most who chose to disrobe in some fashion and many who show their love for one another unabashedly. Maryann has helpfully aided them in shedding their inhibitions. Why she needs to ply them with weed and booze is sort of mystifying as that soup Karl is ladelling out looks like its doing the job quite well. From what I read, this is Marianne just getting warmed up. Caps by True-blood.net

Sookie and Bill - True Blood Season 2

    • Sookie and Bill
"Believe it or not, the show is sexier and gorier," Ball said about the new crop of episodes. "I think it's also funnier. I think it's also deeper. I just feel like the show is really finding its identity and delving into itself in a way that feels really organic. It definitely feels as if things are ramped up for season two."--Alan Ball http://thefutoncritic.com
